No 4.2 roms for NS4G? - Nexus S General

Title says it..
No one is building for the NS4g anymore or something?
I only see one 4.2 rom in the section.

There are a couple out there, running greenblue's 4.2.1 for ns4g right now. If I had decent computer I would try and build something but I really don't know too much. Just found out what my nexus could do about 7 months ago.

How stable is it? Also, isn't it for the S only? I'm using one called Bland Android and it's a bit quirky, but works good enough to be a dd.

How about this thread turns into and info thread with links to other 4.2 crespo4g ROMs? I only know of Bland Android 4.2... Running flawless on my phone... But would be great to get some theme chooser on here again!

Good idea. If anyone could post links, I'd update the OP.

Here's the thread for greenblue's 4.2.1 build. Make sure to read the OP for flashing instructions. Klinkerkp has also created a theme for this rom, posted in the thread...

Thanks... I thought it was a nodded ROM... Its even more stock than Bland Android... Tho some things seemed to be fixed like the lock screen clock which I already had a preferred temp fix anyways...

Just a heads up that MongooseHelix just posted this on Twitter @MongooseHelix .
The description didn't have much in the way of details. It does look like the camera previews and a lot of development has gone into making it working.

It's the Evervolv ICS latest build. You can find it at Rootzwiki; it's also up at Android Passions. It is very smooth; not as many tweaks as the 2.0 Abduction, but a very nice rom.

4.0.4 is in the title. Since I'm not in contact with the developer I didn't want to post a link here to it.
Not without his permission.. this is mostly a "for you know"... you can easily check his twitter or the other links mentioned previous to my response.

I gotcha, I'm currently running evervolv. I thought there was a mod or something attached that I wasn't seeing, sorry. Really liking alpha 1, been running it for about 2 weeks. My favorite ics yet
Sent from my Droid Incredible using XDA
Sooo I'm really confused.
Is the tweet from today by MongooseHelix a new fix? Cause the tweet links to something from 2 weeks ago.
Is the fix in that tweet already included in this Alpha ROM? Or is the fix something you need to manually flash afterwards?
The fix is in the alpha, he was just showing other devs I assume. Evervolv is my favorite rom, it just lacks a lot of the features of aokp

Your lucky your getting anything on this old ass phone!!!!
JK
I experimented with a red one and a green one but they were for Evervolv p12... Looked good but needed a little tweaking (more xml edits, some pngs weird due to batch processing) and now it needs updating to 2.2.
I have a new daily phone but will still theme/mod the Inc so should have a few different colors eventually...
Thanks for the input, my motivation is directly related to demand.
Damn I would love to use the theme looks real good and I had my cm7 set like that. I am using aokp for the time being but generally run evervolv. I'll probably switch back whenever alpha 2 comes along, hopefully you will update the theme for it!

I hope there aren't too many differences in the code. I don't want them to have to work everything from the ground up again. Then we'd be waiting 3 months for a stable release with a few semi-working features like last time :/

Wrong. We will see CM10 Stable release by Jan 2013. CM10 nightly will should start working on August 2012.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
They won't have to build everything up from scratch this time. They just build on ICS so we can get working nightlies in august i guess like Dax says
Yea no need to start all over like they had to from cm7 gingerbread to CM9 ics cuz 2.3 to 4.0 was big but they said they don't have to start from scratch this time cuz jellybean is so close to ics! Also when cm10 is up & running they're going to stop CM9 & work on CM7 & CM10
° N€×U$ $⁴G °
They WILL start from scratch, to ensure there arent leftovers from ics and to prepare better for jelly bean.

read again what they wrote on G+. I'll quote for you because i am such a great guy!
Another fresh start?
With CM9 (and ICS) being such a large jump from CM7 (GB) we decided it would be best and most efficient to essentially rewrite CM enhancements from scratch. This added a bit of time to our development cycle, but the initial investment in cleaning our codebase has paid off, and CM9 is better for it. Now that JB is around the corner, we are in a place where most of our code will merge cleanly into JB, with minimal fuss.

And there will be no official 4.2
I think 4.2 and 4.2.1 have lots of nice new features (like the quick settings tiles in the notification bar) but under the hood, it's a gigantic piece of sh!t, it seems. I've never seen my NS4G chew through the battery so fast in my life!!! Leaving mobile data enabled is a sure death-sentence for the battery in a matter of hours, even if it's in sleep mode!!

Still early, it keeps getting better and better everyday! I am running DaxMax's Xylon 4.2.1 on my Galaxy Nexus and it is by far the best Android I have had to date! All this negative talk has a lot to do with certain Mod's and certain Gapps people are trying to run with 4.2.1 that breaks things and are not compatible. There is a lot of dirty flashing and ignorance contributing to this gossip about 4.2.1 being a disaster. The first time I flashed it I hated it and directly went back to 4.1.2 thinking I would wait til it is complete but the second time I flashed it I am convinced I will not be looking back!
I'm happy running 4.2... Its issues that were also common in 4.0/4.1 when they were first introduced. There are some great people working on it, so I imagine it'll get better soon.

[Q] Why does everyone use Paranoid?

So i've hesitated on rooting for a while now, but i finally did today. Now i'm looking for some good roms to flash, and i notice that a lot of N7 owners use PA. I want to know why? I tried CM10 and its pretty cool
Eh. I didn't like it. I had to RMA my tablet because the touchscreen was bein' cray.
But the interface of the rom? 10 points. Amazing. So fluent... it is a hybrid ROM that let's you use the tablet in tablet ui. And switch between stock, tablet, and phablet. I loved it.
Tldr;I hated it. I loved it.

The best thing to do is read the op for the pa rom and note the features it lists. All roms have their features listed to help you decide. Also, read other users comments within the thread to see what they are saying. It is all there waiting for you to read.
And for future reference, questions belong in the Q&A sub forum, not general.

I agree. PA has never felt as stable for me as CM. And I find that I prefer my tablet in portrait mode now, so I don't care about hybrid apps (plus the mail ones like email work proudly now)

I just tried it out and it was really unstable for something I would use everyday. I use SmoothROM and it is really stable. I put tablet UI and its perfect for my preference. It's all up on what people really want from their Nexus I guess.

Gotta disagree, as mods have gone on record stating that something such a that is outside of the scope of the Dev forum and against the rules. Replies in those threads are supposed to be limited to those relevant to development of the rom, such as bug reports. Asking a question of this nature in a Dev thread is only going to make it harder for folks to find relevant info in the thread.

I've been running PA on my N7 for a while now. Had 2.54 (the last 'stable' release) on my old 16GB and it was great. When I broke that one I got the 32GB and the first thing I flashed was PA 2.99 beta. Now running the 14-01-2013 beta build and for me its flawless. I love tablet UI and the ability to change the layout of individual apps and to set DPI to 160. PA Colours let's you choose custom colours for Nav bar, buttons etc. Its smooth and stable. Its like another device entirely. I even bought their Preferences Pro app to support the project and I'm eagerly awaiting P.A. 3
Combined with M-Kernel a30 and Trickster Mod I'm running at 1.9Ghz Max CPU and 600mhz GPU.
Its beastly. NFS:MW flies! Lol

[Q] ics for nexus 4?

I'M wondering is it possible for a dev to make an ice cream rom based off 4.1 not 4.2. I really liked that a little better in my opinion. My imobster game just isn't the same on jelleybean as it was on ice cream. any thoughts?
I can't for the life of me think of why you would want ICS over jb but I think your luck is probably out. As I really can't see a dev taking the time to make a worse ROM. Sorry! Are you sure your game just hasn't been optimised for the n4?

Thanks for informing me I kinda figured it wasn't possible. Now don't get me wrong 4.2 is an awesome OS but I play this game imobster and we have a thing we call spam attack when you can attack someone 10 in one sec and JB just will not let me do that so I'm still playing it on my HTC ice cream based ROM but I take my nexus 4 with me too and just change sim cards back and forth. Lol I've flashed every ROM the N4 has I think and I just can't find one that suits the need of the game.I'm a nexus junkie and a imobster junkie and have owned the first one through the last one well I still own nexus one but got rid of the other ones until N4 came along but I just wish storm8 the maker of the game would optimize it for jellybean. Thanks all. Anymore ROM suggestions?
