nexus 4 vs sony lt28h - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

i know the hard specs are better for the nexus. however the sony looks so damn sleek and sexy. also does have a better camera and expandable storage.
what to get? any thoughts? assuming im in a nexus forum i expect a little biased opinion.

You are comparing Xperia ION with Nexus 4?
Xperia ION has exactly identical spec as Xperia S.
Sorry buddy, there's no comparison here. The only upside for Xperia ION is mSDHC slot. And good luck waiting for Sony to release JB update.
If the appearance of Xperia ION is THAT important to you, then get one. Just remember, there's no comparison.

after really looking and seeing the reviews it is a no brainer. nexus seems to take the cake. minus the camera that it.

Coming from Xperia S, which has the SAME camera, I don't think Nexus 4 has inferior camera compared to Xperia S.
Both use Sony's sensor. And Nexus 4 has HDR mode which doesn't exist in ION.
This is my impression thread comparing Xperia S and Nexus 4

That's your choice...It's gonna be tough if you don't want to miss the holiday season.
Luckily I sold my xperia s early enough...but I was phoneless for a whole week tho

The Sony is far better build quality, and the software is good, but their schedule for Jellybean is a showstopper...

First Xperia Z review knocks S3 off the top spot

Looking very very good so far, though surprised that the S3 took slightly better photos.

Stuff also mention the viewing angles could be better, but i think they are just being picky.
Overall a very positive review.

They claim that with stamina mode on, it drained ~1% of battery overnight... if that's true that means we'll have amazing battery life for those who use it more like a phone ( as in not very intense )

you're missing the point. They are comparing the phone which also means if you loved the S3, then you won't be dissapointed. It is a measurement to some on how much they may like a device. It isn't a boxing match between the two as we all know the specs on the XZ is far superior.

And when the SGS4 comes out it's no longer fair to compare it to the XZ, but instead you need to wait for the next thing from Sony, and so on. The XZ is going to be almost 4 months old when the SGS4 comes out. Consumers don't want to compare things that are unknown, but what is available at the moment of purchase, and right now the XZ is a better phone than the SGS3.

they should compare it to note 2, but overall the ZL is still looks like a all around better device, its 5" screen brings to closer to note 2 yet at much higher resolution and yet the phone size is even smaller than note 2 little brother the s3. Only one fully revealed contender is the m7, or the droid dna or butterfly j that are both already out.

I dont says that xz is not good, i think is wonderfull, and i dont like s3.
But is somehow stupid to compare to old device (when xperia s comes out, they compared it to s2).
Keep comparing to new devices. Even if Z or S4 win, dosent mather, cuz i will go for xz.

True for most sites...
But reviews from respectable sites like: Anandtech.com / GSMarena.com
Who actually objectively test things like sound quality, camera quality or power consumption instead of just giving opinions or marketing BS are really necessary addition.

Should I keep this or go for the Xperia T?

I really wanna like this phone. The amazing screen, working GPS, the fact its endorsed by Google, always the latest updates. Well i'm sure I don't have to tell everyone here why to love this phone.
But then theres the glass back... poor battery... the size of it! I come from a samsung s2 and thats 4.02 from what i know. And this Nexus sure is big compared to that... having owned a Note 1 I never wanted to go big again! Thats why i'm wondering about the Xperia T. Its a much smaller upgrade over the S2 but the phone is smaller too. And i'm not really sure how unlockable it is even though I think Sony's android stuff is pretty good.
Thoughts people?!
I would not change this phone for Xperia T. It's downgrade in every aspect. I've had it before N4. The screen viewing angles and blacks are terrible and it was creaking after a week. Terrible build quality.
Odesláno z mého Nexus 4 pomocí Tapatalk 2
Are you mad? Downgrade in absolutely every aspect. Not to mention Sony sucks big time when it comes to upgrading OS. I had Note1 before and I think N4 is small in comparison.
You'd be doing yourself a big disservice.
My other half had an Xperia T. It has a better camera than the N4 but the N4 is better in every other way including battery life.
For me the battery has been good. I usually get around 3-4 hrs screen time on. I`m on stock and unrooted. I don't want to root because when I had the epic 4g, I always wanted to have stock. And the closest thing was Cyanognemod which rocks! The best thing about this phone is that your always going to have fast updates and no carrier bloatware or skins.

N4 to enhance your life, have state of the art device, and XDA support!
Xperia T is way worse than the N4. I also believe that it will cost more.
Sony's upgrade policy regarding "old" phones is awful. I had my Xperia Ion, which was one of the very first line-ups of the new Sony brand. Was waiting for Android 4.1.2 in june while Xperia T had it, and 4.2.2 had been out since november. I switched to my N4 then, and was happy forever.
Now that Xperia Z and his little/big brothers are out, Xperia T is just old compared to it. So don't expect further upgrading from Sony, except minor updates (which don't come often)
First of all I would say the nexus 4 is better and you should keep it and if you still want a smaller phone with bigger battery life I recommend Xperia SP it has a bigger battery than nexus 4 and is smaller at 4.6 inch and it has a good camera and you can get it for the price of nexus 4
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
Well I've decided to keep it. Its only slightly bigger then any other phone I would pick and the battery seems to be the same as my GS2. So yay for me on owning a nexus bring on the 4.3 goodness!

4.3 is bringing better battery life anyway (Or at least that's what I have seen running the leak... I got 2 more hours SOT then when I ran franco, UVed and everything)

The size isn't hard to get used too. I came from a Galaxy Ace with a 3.5" screen, way smaller than the Nexus 4 and I was able to adapt in like one day.
Why should the glass back be a big deal? Treat your device with a little respect and don't drop it or throw it around. It's not as weak as you think and many drop tests have proven as such. If you really need to have your phone in-hand 24/7 for some reason, buy a case...
The battery isn't poor, people just like to whine. I've now owned mine for several weeks, using Bluetooth and WiFi very frequently and I can go from 10AM in the morning to midnight and still have over 30% charge left, with about 3 hours of screen time. Granted I don't use data, but even if you do it's pretty easy to turn off when you aren't using it.
I have the nexus 4 but I reckon the xperia v would be the better choice to get. I've compared xperia t and v to my nexus 4 and I came to like Sonys simple interface combined with a better camera and superior build quality. Xperia V fits perfectly in the palm of your hand and is really light in comparison to Nexus 4. Xperia V is pretty much an xperia z but the smaller version with less internal storage and it has LTE.

Note 2 vs Xperia Z1

The question is : Should I sell my Note 2 and get Xperia Z1? I have the Note 8 3G, so having two "notes" is a little superfluous.

Z1 seems like the perfect phone on paper, at least for me. Wait till users get it so u know what is in about it.
I'm actually thinking about the Note 3 or the Z1. The Z1 looks fantastic! But I think I'd miss the functionality of the S-Pen. I'm going to wait for a few reviews to make a decision. Not to mention I won't be buying a phone until Dec. at the earliest! haha.
I'm thinking of Sony Z1, LG G2, iPhone 5S
if the Z1 speaker were not so low , and the screen was not covered by a protection film that gets easily scratched, and if removed the sony logo gets removed too, I would have bought the Z1

LG G2 is a great choice, actually. But like it's been said, you're gonna miss the S-Pen funcionality. Otherwise, the G2 has OIS, the SGN3 not. Of course, the 3 GB are sweet!
I love the G2, but I am not too happy with LG about their update schedule. I love updates! Before I commit to Note 3 or Z1 or even the G2, I'm going to wait to see what the Nexus 5 has to bring! Who knows, maybe I'll just stick with the Note 2 ^.^ It's still a damn great device!
I have a Z1 on hand. Anything you'd like to know? Still getting the Note III, but the Z1 would be my second choice.

Battery life was markedly better than the Z, but I wouldn't put it up with the Note II - unfortunately I haven't been able to test the battery life in a properly quantifiable manner, but based on my usage of the device I'd think ~4 hours screen on over LTE would be possible. It gets rather hot when under load, I suppose you can always dunk it in a cool glass of water mind you.
Screen quality - vastly superior to the Z. Could never have lived with that. This I can live with. The viewing angles still aren't quite there, yet they're so much better than the Z that I was happy enough. Washes out and is especially bad at certain angles, but dead on it's very nice and gets quite bright, though sunlight visibility isn't fantastic.
Speaker was louder than I recall the Z being. Nothing special, though, I prefer the Note's.
Happy to help.

It's time to say goodbye my friends! :(

After all thease months, after all good and bad moments it's time to say goodbye and move on to my next device.
I bought LG G3 couple of weeks ago and today I'm selling my Xperia Z. It's so hard to move on because Xperia Z reminds me on true legend, Xperia X10i. It's such a great device to have. In fact , after using G3 for couple of weeks I'm so disappointed with this device (laggy software, not so great build quality) so I'll probably sell it and buy a real device, Xperia device (Z2 or Z3).
I'm gonna miss this forum so much, I'm gonna miss all You guys. Good luck and take care! :good:
So, the G3 isn't great then? I'm looking at getting a new device next month and it was a possibility, as reviews seem to be all positive. The Z3 is also on my list along with the N6.
I'm leaning towards the N6 because of ease of root etc and the huge development support that comes with the Nexus devices, but I'll see closer to the time as Sony has established itself as my current best Android OEM because of the great experience I've had with the Z.
Anyway, good luck for the future and I'm sure I'll see you around.

LG G3 has beautiful display, one of the best out there, but 1440 x 2560 res is unnecessary because you can't see the difference between fullHD and this with naked eye. Camera is ok but not breathtaking (I think that LG use Sony 13 mpx module), Lollipop ROM is laggy, signal strength is lower than on other devices. Battery life is ok but not great, double tap to lock/unlock function is fantastic. If you look for development support I can't recommend you this phone, at least for now. On the other side I tested Xperia Z3 last week. Fantastic device, great looking, screen is beautiful, stock rom is fast and smooth, build quality is excellent. Battery life is insane, nice speakers, and camera is fantastic. I'm so in love with that phone man, I hope that Z3 is my next phone. And thanks for nice words.
I had a real bad experience with an LG device. The Optimus 2X was released with a lot of publicity as the first dual core Android phone and then abandoned with buggy software and only 2 updates in 2 years. I promised myself never to buy from them again, but the G3 was tempting me. Hearing your thoughts has put me off again!
So, Z3 or N6 it is probably.
Hope to see you around on the forums if I get a Z3.
Cheers.

Yeah, you never knew if the thing would be unresponsive when you picked it up to use it. The stock rom was woeful as well. The only reason I didn't trash it was because of the great developer support and custom roms.

MWC isn't THAT far away, and if the Z4 is announced then expect a Z3 price drop. The upgrades for the Z4 won't be game changers - an 810 with a better GPU, a slightly nicer display that may well be QHD, improvements to the camera I expect. With the amount of time people use their phones nowadays, battery life simply must improve. And with rumours that the actual Sony imaging department will handle the image processing, maybe the Z4 will get a stand-out camera. I really hope the RAW API's will be implemented by Sony. I'm looking at an upgrade too, maybe a Oneplus Two, or if they make a Nexus 5 2015 edition I'd bite. The Xperia Z was my first smartphone and I'd like to try other android devices.
Have any of you guys seen the new ASUS ZenFone that's to be released in March? It looks like an absolute animal of a phone and I'm very tempted to snap one up as soon as preorders are available because of its fantastic price and even better spec to follow, but I'm worried about the developer support as there hasn't really been a great deal of support for ASUS' previous ZenFone generations, do you guys think that the price would pull more developers in?

Is that the one with the Intel processor? Yikes, as far as I know, developer support on those devices is nowhere near the level of your standard Snapdragon phones. Exynos processors in Samsung's are very common and even those are shunnes., with developers working on Snapdragons instead.
Quad HD sounds nice on paper but it doesn't bring any visual differences that your eyes can detect. Except the low battery indicator flashing more frequently?

I have used a LG G3 for more than a while.. I couldn't see anything wrong with it on KK.. Compared its display with a Z3 and saw the difference in detail and also under sunlight it seemed better than Z3.. Ofc 2k comes into play as well.. So it would be wrong to compare. Also the gestures are nice on any high end LG phone which Xperia's miss officially.. And battery life on G3 is amazing for the h/w it has.. I hardly saw a hiccup even the LG UI.. Camera is decent(Probably same as XZ).. Atleast it seemed the same when i compared my XZ cam with it.. G3 is a beast phone and i think their LP fw update might be buggy since its just initial update.. Ofc u have to wait for another 1 or 2 bug fixing updates to experience the best of LP on any phone for that matter..

Stick with Xperia Z3 or move to Nexus 6P?

Everything is in the title, really!
I've been toying with the idea of keeping my Z3 and getting a tablet, before realising that I'd never actually USE a tablet. As a result, I've come to the conclusion that I should just get a slightly bigger phone and meet my demands half way.
I've always liked the Nexus phones, previously had a Nexus 5 that I loved, despite the not-so-great battery life. I went for the Z3 after my wife got the Z1 compact, just because of the battery life, and I've not been disappointed. I always get two days battery life in normal use, and around six hours screen time consistently.
However, the Nexus 6P has definitely caught my attention. The screen size is pretty much what I'm looking for, the battery size appears to be pretty much the same, and of course it looks lovely!
So, my question, Nexus 6P owners, is it worth changing, based on my needs, or do I stick to what I have? I've heard the battery life isn't quite as good as what I'm used to!
Sent from my Xperia Z3
Why not get a Z5 Premium? You would most likely get better battery life, camera and build quality all in a package that you are already used to with a bigger screen. Seems like a win-win to me.
I had a Z3 (which I do miss). The Nexus 6P is better in terms of updates, camera, speed, speakers, fingerprint scanner and ROMs/development if you're into that. Also, I get better cell reception with the 6P too, which could be due to band 12. The battery on the Z3 is better, but I have no problems getting through the day with my 6P, plus you have quick charging, so that's a plus.

I just miss the size sometimes, the overall feel, waterproof, dedicated camera button, and how bright the screen gets. The software on the Z3 isn't bad at all either.

It definitely is a nice phone. I really do find it interesting that despite the 6P being pretty superior in most regards, you still miss little things about the Z3!
I know the gold 6P is currently on sale in the UK, but I don't know if I could honestly drop the battery life in favour of the other things, despite the differences being fairly substantial!

I would wait and see what the Marshmallow update brings to the Z3.

I had the T Mobile Z3, which was better than the others but lagged with updates. The 6p is a better phone in many ways, but I miss the size, water resistance, battery life, and noise canceling of the Z3. I'd probably still have the Z3 if it was getting updates.
I have heard good things about the Marshmallow concept, so perhaps as you've both said, its worth hanging on until the update is released to see if I want to stick with it.
Thanks for the opinions and thoughts though, guys. Much appreciated.

At this point in time, I would wait. Then get the HTC M10. I really wish I'd waited, I had the understanding that it was going to be a mediatek chipset. How wrong was I, big battery, water proof, sd820, 32GB with ext SD, decent camera (hopefully) and those boom sound speakers.
This is kind of make or break for HTC , I think its going to be a beast. Development will be superb too as it always is with flagship HTC devices.
Absolutely nothing wrong with the 6P its a stellar device but I'd have waited for the M10 If I'd have known.
Have had a few Sony devices and I find them a bit boring. On paper they're great but they're just not for me. My mate has the Z5 which he loves but its exactly the same as the older devices going back to the z1.
I like their tablets though
PS: my apologies, the size might not be what you need. Unless they release a plus version?
Tablets are a funny sort, you don't think you'll use them but then do once you have one. Everything looks great on a tablet, HD games (made for tablet) movies, web browsing.. Coupled with a fold away keyboard you'd be forgiven for thinking you werent using a laptop.
I use citrix with work and on my prime with keyboard and touchpad it looks amazing.
Your choice mate.

I do like HTC phones, the last one I had was the One X, and apart from the (quite frankly) terrible battery, it was a really nice phone! I know a couple of people with the M9, and it is a nice phone. I do prefer Android more stock though, Sense is quite heavily modified compared to some other manufacturers.
I had a Samsung S3 too, that was also nice, but I really hate Touchwiz.
There's something really nice about stock!
Thanks for that though, I'll have a look at the M10 when that's released. I'm sure I'll find the sweet spot sooner or later. I did have a tablet (Microsoft Surface), but just never turned it on. Didn't see the point when I had a phone that did the same but on a smaller screen!

Why not just get the HTC nexus tablet then?
Also with OEM launchers / interfaces, sense for me is the best, its very well made and vanilla android always comes to HTC devices (I like to have the choice or I get bored)
Good luck all the same

I nearly did when they were on sale over Christmas... I can't seem to find one anywhere now! :/
Never mind, thanks for your input, and you're right, certainly as far as skins over Android go, Sense is definitely one of the nicest looking ones!
