I recent purchased an OTG cable to hook up an external drive. I'm going to need to root my device and was wondering how I could save my games. There is no alternative to rooting is there?
It depends on the game; with GTA 3 for example, I can backup the entire game folder from Android\data (without root) and my save will also be backed up too
I think the wugfresh toolkit supports backup and restore via adb. I used the backup restore when I rooted my gnex, but I don't remember what all was restored.
I rooted my N10 before I had anything important on it

I have installed this ROM in my defy red lens (not defy+)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1285007
But only with "nandroid" backup, so i can downgrade now (to froyo, for example)
My question is... Can i go to stock recovery with this nandroid to make wipes? Will i loose downgrade ability? Will it change BL version to BL6? Will i get bootloop?
Thanks in advance...
Anyone?

You can do wipes from cwm right as long as you intend to be in that ROM. That was just nandroid, nothing will change to your bl versions, you can always go back to stock by installing full sbf.

Hi everyone
I've already searched about this problem and I found couple of topics But I'm posting this beacuse i am new in the nexus 7 world and so i would have a Basic and Easy explenation about My situation. I would unlock the bootloader of My tablet to install a custom recovery and then install a cooked rom But doing that i am Not able to do first a backup with App like titanium backup that required a rooted device to backup all My data App to restore later... So what do You suggest me to do in this situation? I've seen App like Carbon and ultimate backup tool But these apps are in a beta state so i don't know if they work properly.
Ps: for those Who suggests me something Take in consideration that i am using on My pc a Linux os and Not Windows. Thanks!
(sorry for bad English But I'm italian)

Look at the Nexus toolkit, I am sure you can unlock, root and backup before you install a new rom.

R: Nexus 7 backup without root
But the toolkit needs an unlocked bootloader to make a backup of all my data apps... I was checking something that doesn't require a rooted device or an unlocked one. I have a virgin nexus 7 stock

You can back up lot's of data without rooting, but not game scores I'm afraid. AFAIK there is an app for backing up Angry Bird Scores, but that is the only one.
I think you can use ADB backup

Look it up, you should be able to do both I believe. No you need neither of those, just USB debugging enabled

Ever since I know of Helium backup, I found no need to root my phone anymore just for TB.

Hi Everyone
Just wondering what was the best way to transfer apps and settings from my Note 2 to a new Note 3?
TIA

Dont transfer apps..
Use for example Helium for backing up and restoring data. Does not need root.
Great thank you for the quick reply. Did wonder if to use TB or Helium / Carbon
