One of the animation settings in developer options disables screen off when you turn it down to 0.

I don't want to disable all animations. Just the CRT off animation.

I don't think you can. In order to disable it you need to turn Window animation scale down to 0 but it also eliminates other animations as well.

It was in an option to enable disable the animation in CM7 and CM9, and it was a feature that you could flash on other ROMs. I just want the screen to very quickly fade. I'm sure a dev will have this out and will appear on most major ROMs in no time.
I think its the scale one, turn it to 0. I had it like that once and crt went away but I didnt notice any other animations gone from that..

The three options all have scale in their names...
Sorry, was off of my head but obviously it would be the last one that says animator , not the windows and transition one..

So, any advise on how to activate the ON animation... Which is the subject of this thread by the way LOL!

Is there anyway to remove the crt screen off animation but keep the window and transition animations?

ya, just use stock firmware =)
you can not togle this setting in options
transition animations (those are windows also) are not connected with animations anyhow aside of the fact that if you disable animations the crt will not work also
If you're using cyanogenmod, go to the cyanogenmod settings and in display you can disable it.

How do you remove the digital clock on the lockscreen? It keeps returning after I delete it. Also, can you add other widgets besides the four shown?
I was able to use uccw on the lock screen
Try to replace it with another widget. Then go back later and delete that one.

Tried that. The clock came back.
Is there at least a way to make it look decent, without the stupid bold hour digit? I wouldn't mind having the clock on the lock screen if it didn't look so bad.

Download Fixed Clock from the Market/Play Store and use that widget in place of the stock one.

HD Widgets is very nice option as well. It gives you many configuration options for the lockscreen

good question, anyone?
In 4.1.X androids and before it always worked to disable window animation scale. In 4.2.1 it doesn't work.
Does anybody know how to get rid off that awful CRT animation on the Nexus 4?

Have to decompile framework-res.apk
Navigate to
Res-values-bools.xml
Find this string with this name
Animatescreenlights
And make it as false

It always took me about 2 seconds to get auto rotation respond on my Nexus 7
Is there any way to tweak it faster?
I think it's not the laggy problem but some system settings like response time or sampling time
I've googled this but nothing's found and no apps I found can do this
thanks for answering

I honestly think this is normal.
It took about 2 seconds delay before it start rotate here too. I think it normal but honestly I want it a bit lower delay like 1 second for example it would be a perfect delay for me.
Both of my Nexus 7 and Galaxy S II rotates in exactly 1 second.

well, you can speed up the animation by going to settings/dev options

I'm actually on SmoothRom now. It could be dependent on the rom, but I'm not too sure.

I don't know if that will help, i have my animations set to .5 and it still takes the same amount of time, if i remember correctly there is no known way to speed it up, even though i wish we could.

In my IMO that definitely normal, Delay time before it start rotate is same as my and my friend N7.
As the title says, is it possible to disable the animations but keep the CRT screen - off effect? I prefer to not have animations throughout the system and apps as I love the feel and speed of it, but by turning all these off I miss out on the much loved screen off animation.
Is there anyway to achieve this? I encountered the same situation on both TW and CM. I'm currently on TW.

Use Wanam or gravity box or another xposed module to turn CTR effect on?

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately it is not that simple as it seems that turning off animations from the developer settings (transition = "0" etc) also then applies to the screen off effect. I'm wondering if it is somehow possible to isolate the disabling of the animations to allow for the screen off to be unaffected...
Sent from my SM-N9005 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Oh you know what. ...I just managed to solve it!
Disabling all animations through developer options indeed stops the screen off animation. Leaving Window and Transition Animations Scale set to 0 means that no animations appear when loading apps for example, however by keeping Animator Duration Scale at 1 it keeps the CRT screen off animation. Job done!
Shame I had to create a thread to solve this so quickly but least if anyone else wants the speedy interface of having no system animations but wants to keep the CRT, they'll know how!

You would need to have root and install Xposed framework. Then use Wanam to enable it
