Why?
EDIT: I have noticed that this seems to only happen on LTE, therefore leading me to believe that this is related to the problem of Google Now not working on LTE/GSM.

Google Now uses the GPS to check your location if you let it. On my old phone too (AT&T Galaxy S II running AOKP JB) I noticed the same about every 10-15 minutes. I don't think it has to do with LTE though.

Not got the phone yet but does it still do this with lte disabled? Might be its not able to get position data from cell towers on lte so it defaults to GPS instead.

Yes sorry guys I corrected the original post, it's happening every 15 minutes approximately, but not just LTE, on WiFi, LTE, H+.. doesn't matter.
App running GPS is system UI

Think I might have figured this out. GPS data location when indoors (satellite's unavailable) is impaired with LTE on.
Can anybody confirm this problem?

This doesn't solve the issue it only prevents data being used for GPS lock.
But yes if the problem exists it will stop the battery being drained

100% time without signal

Can anyone explain why I have 100% time without signal in cell standby. I used my phone all day sending texts and making calls. Also, the signal bar is constantly yellow on the battery graph. Should this be green?
Cheers

Confirmed. thanks. very random
Thanks confirmed that temporarily fixes the 100% The captivate did this as well when I had it but always showed 50 percent without signal and you could turn on airplane mode and turn it off to fix it. However that method doesn't seem to work for this but the about phone method does

Got my galaxy yesterday and I have this bug too. I was a little scared because on S1 it meant battery drain. When I woke up this morning I had 99% battery after 9 hours since charging. But I was still curious and thats why Im here.
Glad its nothing serious Hope it will go away when I finally choose a custom rom to flash...
EDIT: just noticed the last reply date, well sorry, found this thread through search. (Hey at least I didnt create a new thread asking the same thing!)

Wi-fi will not sleep when phone not in use....

I'm on stock 4.2.1 ROM and Franco r23.
I have my Wi-Fi policy set to "never", which should turn it off when the screen is off and the phone is sleeping.
But it's not doing that and I don't know why?
I use Better Battery Stats and an attaching a couple of screens so that someone can suggest why the Wi-Fi refuses to shut off and allow the phone to truly enter deep sleep. The second screen shot shows that Gmail is the top process in terms of battery usage, so I'm wondering if that's the culprit as gmail sync is always set on push, and can't be changed to any other schedule?
If so, this is a huge oversight by Google.

I have the same issue but worse.
Not only does my wifi not turn off no matter what the setting is, it does shut off my mobile connection.
When I turn on the phone after a long time period I see the mobile connection triangle blacked out and after a few seconds turns back on.
After that the issue continues even when the phone isn't in deep sleep. VERY ANNOYING
But no matter what the wifi is always alive.
Still not sure this isn;t a hardware problem and if it is I'm ruined because I don't live in the states.
Let me know if you find a solution, I'll do the same.
BTW I'm on 4.2.1 stock rom as well .
same here, wifi stays on, even if in deep sleep...

Other strange problem, when I manually disable WiFi, like 2 times in picture, data does not turn on. I have to switch 2G-3G and it connects or airplane.
This is not fair, finally after all those years waiting perfect andorid phone... like someone previously said Nexus 4 is like Bugatti, nice, fast and powerful but only for few miles.

[Q]WiFi automatically turns on?

I need some help. My wifi just keeps randomly turning on throughout the day and its really annoying. I checked my settings and im pretty sure there is nothing that would do that but I could be wrong. Anyone had the same issue? Anyone know how to fix it?

I'm seeing this as well with a Bell Galaxy S4 (SGH-I337M). I have no idea what's causing it.
Ok. I think I *may* have figured it out.

Im using qualcomm battery guru and I went to the app to check my battery savings and I came across the manage wifi option. It basically says it will turn your wifi on and off based on your previous usage. Ill report back in a little wilhile to see if that fixed my issue.

I had this happen on mine and I think it was something to do with AT&T Smart Wifi. I don't remember though.

I don't use this app so I'm not sure if that's necessarily the issue, unless something similar is built into the Qualcomm chipset itself. It does seem to always enable itself at certain points of the day, I'm going to keep an eye out for a correlation.
So ever since disabling WiFi yesterday it hadn't turned on, and I thought it might have fixed itself. Today, I went the whole morning without WiFi and without touching the phone and when I looked at it later on it was enabled. I checked the battery stats and noticed that WiFi seemed to automatically enable itself the moment I woke up the screen to check a message a little while earlier.
I've also noticed that when this happens, it won't actually connect to my WiFi network when it's in range like it's not actually scanning for any networks. It also won't let me know of any open access points. If I disable and enable WiFI again, it connects like it should, or if I go into Settings -> Wireless, it'll scan for networks and connect fine as well.
It seems like this is a software bug that Samsung needs to address.

GPS lock on stock

I got a new note 3 a month ago. Finally Tested out the gps when I went on vacation. The gps could not always lock. It was loose GPS signal every 10 min also. It would tell me to u turn and get off the highway routinely because it thought I was on the wrong street or going backwards. Really frustrating when going long distance. Since it's stock is there a fix. I've tried a few apps. GPS fix, gps status, etc. any options out their that might actually work.
When using the gps apps are you getting locks? How many satellites are you seeing?

have you tried clearing agps?
I turned on the GPS status app. I can get a lock on two out if 19 after 2 min. Waited 5 and it didn't improve. The maps app locked good on my position however.

Did you try to clear the agps data? May help
I cleared it and tested. Then downloaded and tested. Reset all setting and tested. Reset phone and tested. Still only to get 2 sats but not a full lock.
Any other suggestions.

I have the exact same symptoms. When setting up navigation of a trip it will take forever to lock on and after it does it is very slow to update position. Many of the updates to my position are in correct putting me just off the highway on a side street. Sometimes it will have me driving reverse to the direction of my arrow.
I actually uninstalled my weather app and the issue was corrected to a degree. It's not perfect but it does help.

TicWatch GPS Drain overnight

Hey everybody!
I have noticed some strange behavior with my TicWatch Pro 3 Ultra GPS.
During the day, the power consumption is moderate and absolutely acceptable. However, the power consumption is significantly increased at night.
Looking for the cause, I found out with the help of Battery Historian that the GPS is obviously the reason.
When I go to sleep, I always turn on Airplane Mode on the watch to further limit all network activity and save power, and turn it off accordingly after I get up.
I have attached a screenshot from Battery Historian. I have inserted the vertical red bars as markers, when the Airplane Mode was activated or deactivated by me.
The process that activates the GPS seems to be Wear OS itself (com.google.android.wearable.app).
I had also already reset the watch to factory settings.
The first night, interestingly, GPS is only ever activated briefly. Whereas on the second night GPS is almost constantly active.
Before the factory reset, the GPS behavior looked similar.
So far, I had always left GPS activated on the watch, since I assumed that it would also be deactivated when Airplane Mode was activated. However, a look into the settings told me that this is not the case.
Ultimately, I do not understand why the watch wants to access the GPS constantly and almost permanently when Airplane Mode is active.

I've exactly the same problem. I was getting crazy as the watch consumed 3 time more battery overnight with airplane mode than during the day.
Maybe the problem is related to not having a connection to the phone. As far as I know, when the watch is connected to the phone, it doesn't use its own GPS. I assume there must be some internal process (like updating the weather) that tries to get GPS signal.
I'll try different setting combination on the next nights

Dear friends,
I came here for the same exact issue and I'm glad it is a known bug and it was detected.
I'm asking to the OP which is the app you use to have that battery stats. I need it also
Thanks in advance

Same issues here, can anyone post the link to ticwatch FB on this issue?
I don't think the affected WearOS version is something we can really opt-out ...
