Thinking about the N4 as a secondary phone but I played with one in the T-Mobile store and noticed that pinch to zoom seemed to be pretty unresponsive and disappointing and that's putting it lightly. When pinching to zoom it felt as if I was moving my fingers through quick sand. It was as if my fingers had to literally transverse half of the entire screen before the phone started to react. Can anyone else confirm this? Like I said, this will be my secondary phone and my primary will be an iPhone 5 so I will going back and forth between the 2 phones often which will make the poor responsiveness even more noticeable and bloody annoying since the iPhone is very responsive and accurate in this department. So now I'm rethinking my purchase of this phone. Again can anyone confirm this??? Thanks
mine doesn't do this. it is very responsive.. are you talking about having to go out farther when zooming in? i think they designed the zoom in to occur after your fingers have spread over a certain distance so you don't accidentally zoom in when you don't mean to.
Its like people are just finding reason not to buy this phone cause it has real issues or they just like to complain....personal I think your all crazy . My coworker got his nexus 4 last week and its ****ing awesome the camera in HDR mode is amazing the data speeds are top notch and the screen is responsive. I don't know it everyone and there mama was playing with the display phone at T-Mobile ,but here a story I was playing with a Gs3 at T-Mobile and found pictures of a girls ***** on it .

There was another thread on this yesterday - this is actually Google almost certainly designing around someone else's patent on touchscreen usage. They probably figured that what was going on in older versions was too close to Apple's or someone else's precise method for interpreting multitouch input, so they designed something effective but different enough to avoid litigation. There's a reason why neither Apple nor Microsoft have sued Google directly over Android - Google designs around patents pretty well.

I hear ya, but even still it'd pretty annoying and making me think before I buy. Honestly I'm a stock app kinda guy. I like the stock apps, I actually want to use Chrome but I can't, I want to use the stock gallery since it would be more integrated but I can't without this bug/feature this will also make using Google maps bloody annoying more than anything as when using maps there is a lot of zooming in and out. I'm wondering if other ROMs have this issue with the N4 or not.... Hmmm... That would be an indicator if there was more of a real issue/hardware level issue or not. Wondering if Cyanogen, Paranoid, or AOKP would have the same issue...
this is such a moot issue based completely on software filtering/calibration of your touches. Capacitors are hyper sensitive to touches, so much so that you have to tone it down and filter out all the noise... You can easily go into the software and figure out where the pinch-zoom controls are and fix them...
I am running codefireX's build and my pinch to zoom works perfectly in gallery, chrome, maps, camera. Registers my touch input no mater what I try.
If this is a deal breaker for you, I would be more worried about thermal throttling issues tbh... Those are actually hardware related.

So you're saying right out of the box you can go into settings and configure pin h to zoom to react immediately rather than after transversing half the screen before it starts reacting?
Well, this is xda developers where we hack software and improve it for our own uses. Its part of the fun. You would have to get into the kernel for that

i know a camera app is not natively installed,
but can anyone of you lucky folk to be playing with your nexus take a reasonable light level typical picture so i and others can get an idea of the image quality?
be much appreciated.
cheers.
p.s i'm thinking of bodging up a little mirror attachment to 'convert' the camera to (at least) 'upwards facing' or in other words, if the tab is held flat, forward facing...
i like dodgy things like that...
Arstechnica has some pictures taken during their review. Also they take them from both within Skype, and using a Camera App built for the N7 on the market. Huge difference, but its still a low end camera.
Here's a pic in my house with only the 4 kitchen lights on. http://www.imgur.com/u06De.jpeg
cheers, i guess its 'ok' for its purpose.
I got used to my ipod 4th gen camera for the odd snap when out and about, it seems it should do that job ok, and sure app thats aren't compatible will get an update to optionally use it. kind of kills 'augmented reality' though doesn't it? was the new big thing, and now, uh, nah sorry google says no.
worse cam is about the only loss of selling my 'pod i think, but will probably upgrade my phone package which should have a reasonable cam as they do these days.
cheers.

i'm imagining you winning the pink mac girl over with your nice gadgets & N7 in the cafe or wherever then taking her back to... uh flash-beezy's room.
"oh... "
but maybe she'll won't care by then. my room is also a tip but my gf is past noticing, worn down.
anyway with a bit of natural light the pic isn't too bad, indoor is as expected, but for snaps to msg to folk or make note of things, seems ok.
thanks - keep the 'what N7 owners take pictures of' coming...

Lol. Haven't been able to put my Nexus down
Plus my Fiancé is suppose to clean her crap from in front of my TV LOL
just to mention, i see that instagram has updated their app to be nexus7 camera compatible, as it wasn't before apparantly.
so you can make those dodgy pics more presentable.
in other news, initial tests of my 'angled mirror attachment' idea seem ok using ipod as a tester. just need a little mirror that is less scratched than the one i've got at the moment.
i think being able to have a 'forward facing' (when tablet held flat) cam meaning you can visually frame things up would be handy for alot of folk.

Bah. should have taken the picture more to the left
Has anyone noticed that the screen on this phone is way too sensitive? Mine goes as far as to register a touch when I hold my finger a few millimeters away. This results in accidental double presses and is very frustrating especially when typing. I even made sure the high sensitivity setting was off.
When in Camera mode, it even snaps photos by itself without my finger anywhere near the shutter button.
Any tips?

As stated in OP I had made sure that the hi sensitivity option is off as well as any other convenience features.
As for the camera, I have been in windy conditions when this was occurring, so maybe it was thinking I was giving voice commands. But I had all of that turned off as well, so I'm not sure what the deal is.
I will probably revert to factory settings again before returning the phone to make sure it's not a software issue.
I think that Samsung went a little overboard with the touchscreen on this phone. I do not like the fact that everything can be used to touch the screen. What I actually liked about my iPhone 4s was that it was picky about only recognizing fingertip touches.
Great phone overall but this issue sadly ruins it for me. I do not want to go back to iOS so I think HTC One is the only other strong competitor.

So I rooted and froze all I felt comfortable with (almost all of the bloat and non used) and seemed to have a few more moments of jitters. I thought it was my fast moving in and out of apps, or my games causing the hardware to stumble, but now think its totally hardware.
My question is, after switching to force GPU settings in developer options, has anyone noticed it stopping? Or at least a marked decrease in episodes?
Disable HW overlays and force GPU rendering of 2d being the two options I'm using. I just started last night and already I'm noticing things seem much snappier and no stutters.

Is anyone having issues with the LG G2 touch screen.
The things I'm noticing is
guesture typing it loses it's trail and begins a new word. So if I'm trying to spell "Think," it'll get the "TH" then space it out and get some other string of letters etc.
Web Browsing; it'll click a link I'm not trying to
Zooming in on photos and scrolling while it's zoomed it'll sparatically zoom out or move to the next pic
There's several other things that I can't seem to get to replicate! Anyway with my research here's what I came up with.
My issue is much like this but far less easy to replicate!!! And not nearly as bad. How ever I was able to do it when my phone started having symptoms I pulled up the note pad and it did exactly like this just way less significant.

I posted earlier, looks like it didn't make it up. I had same issue, I tried flashing back to stock, assuming I had done something with rooting it, tried making sure that it was not an issue with ram bring to low, nothing fixed it. Took phone back to att, replaced it, havent had the issue once since then. I'm rooted, flashed and modded work no I'll effects. If you are within your return period, I would suggest that you return.

Yes, absolutely notice this. Brought it up in the other thread but no one thought it was worth checking. Have done tons of side by sides with Note 2 and honestly this camera is very touchy. Has a tiny field and it's often hard to see where that is in the pics. I really hope the camera gets a software update and it's not hardware because the camera has been the only thing I'm on the fence about. When you zoom in, even in good light, things in the taken pic get blurry and almost look like they have an effect.
