Has anyone else noticed the pixel sized red light on the volume rocker on the front facing side of volume down ? I have had my N10 since the 19th and tonight is the first time I have noticed this. My device froze, again, after opening chrome, (after the update) that's when it came to my attention. Has anybody else seen this? If so, is it a problem with my N10? My N10 has been running extremely fluidly after some minor adjustment, I.E., no chrome use, shut down background in Currents settings, and some other minor stuff. I absolutely love it. By the way I am not rooted.

OK, so the little red light is now off. I have no idea what I did or what caused it to go on? I still don't know what the light represents and what I am to do if I see it again. It was on for a least an hour until I noticed it was off.

Hmm, there is another LED controller listed for Light Flow (as6338 or something like that), I wonder if this might be related?
In any case, when I looked at my tablet about 20 minutes ago, I didn't notice any red light around the volume rocker, with the screen on and off.

The screen was on and I was using it at the time I noticed it. I had the charger plugged in and not in. Both results light stayed on. I also saw that in led controller settings. I have a feeling what we saw in that app may be the light, since the other two revolved around the screen and the notification light.
Oh my gosh. I can't believe this, it was an extremely small piece of something that when it caught the light just right it looked just like a led light. Sorry. I had to take out a magnify glass to tell. I thought it was something to perhaps tell the difference between the power/volume button at night or something to that effect. I feel not to bright right now. Now that I mention this not a bad idea to do, so at night or dark places you could see the volume rocker if you held at 40 degree angle.

Ah lol; was kind of hoping that LED was some sort of diagnostics thing, but oh well. It did kind of remind me of the red light that I saw on a CR-48 notebook from Google:

The AM/PM area on the notification bar is starting to burn in on the screen. If you download "Screen test" from the market, you can see this on the red and blue tests. I saw someone on another forum mention this, so I thought I'd check, and sure enough it's there.
Don't really see it becoming a huge problem, but it still sucks.

I bought mine 2 days after it came out and mine shows no signs of it.... *knocks on wood*

If it gets too bad I'm going to return the phone. I've had the phone about two weeks and I can already see the burn in happening pretty bad. This can ruin pretty much anything you do on the phone (games, etc.).
Yep, got mine the week after launch and I can see a hint of it starting too. Is it recoverable or is this something inherent with samoled? Does it happen with lcd? Some of the alternative launchers give you the option to hide the notification bar. Could that help? I tried adw at first but actually got better battery life with touchwiz so I went back to it.
*update* been trying the jscreenfix from the market & switched to 24hr clock with adw hiding the notification bar most of the time. Can't see faint burn-in anymore during screentest app. The vibrant & captivate forums have alot of info on this as well.
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
Yep its really hard to see but under the grey screen I can see the AM/PM logo. I know there is a Jscreenfix out there to help with stuck pixels and screen burn. Another app that might work well is the hypnotic spiral set to black and white. I have it sped up a bit, ill get back with results.
This shouldn't even be possible with samoled....

It's very possible, check out the Nexus One forums about screen burn. If you are talking about the principle that this should not be happening with this new of a technology then I agree.
I've got a line of green running down the right side of my screen that's pretty evident while displaying whites, is anybody else experiencing the same thing or have any idea what's causing this?
The green line is normal.
Edit.
The green line is normal if it is running down the left side right on the edge of the screen. It is most evident when displaying white/gray most notably when using the window shade.
No burn in here, and I use my phone alot.

Yes I'm sorry, I mistyped while writing that post, it is on the left side. Thanks for the reassurance.
No problem. This burn-in is OCD hell. ONCE SEEN CAN NOT UNSEE!!
Had mine since it came out. I anticipated this with super amoled so I just keep it locked with the screen off. I checked and saw no burn in. Just don't abuse your phone by leaving the beastly screen on all the damn time.
Sent from my Samsung Fascinate using Tapatalk.
I have never kept my screen on a static image for very long at all. The problem here is the items that don't move on the OS which is mostly the AM/PM white text. Putting this on military time should ease this a bit but this sounds to be something thats going to happen to all of our phones eventually. Also I do not consider keeping a phone screen on for a bit to be abusing it at all. I call this normal use especially when you set the phone to stay on during debugging mode. I'm not going to make excuses for this phone and say its not an issue. On the other hand also not going to return it because of a hardly noticeable burn-in. Using jscreenfix for a couple of hours now has *seemed* to fade the AM/PM burn a bit. This could just be my eyes playing tricks but it does seem to be less noticeable.
Just a little warning....

Running CM 6.1 Stable. Using the Torch/flashlight (on super bright) via the notification pull-down button. Needed my other hand so I set it down, led/back side down with the light still on. Finished what i was doing but forgot about the phone for 10 - 15 minutes. When I picked it up I noticed it was incredibly (no pun) hot and the light was dim and yellow. This was the aftermath!

Killing me...LMAO!
When you open the torch app and choose super bright it gives you a warning and says this will make it run really hot and hasn't been test for longer that (x amount of minutes forget how many it says)
Same thing happened to me! I deliver food as my job and I was making a delivery. For some reason the people who ordered the food didn't have any lights on their house. So from my car, I used the CM light with high brightness to look for a house number. Found it, put my phone down, and exited. About 5 min later (guy wanted me to change a hundred on a 6 dollar order), I get back in my car and grab my phone close to the LED and felt that that f*cker was HOT. Turned the light off and noticed it was starting to melt the plastic. No damage was done to the LED's but the plastic around it looks like some soggy boobs. The end lol.
Wow thats crazy! I havent had any problem with the HTC flashlight that comes stock on 2.2 but I havent had to keep it on for more than a minute either.
Thanks for the heads up.
I use the flashlight app in the pulldown from Skyraider; But I never leave it on longer than a minute.

Oh I know...I only blame myself. I just stated what I was running as a heads up.
That's a wicked bummer
This is exactly what happened to my phone! I even started a thread about it hahaha. Honestly, if this has physically wrecked 5+ phones (which it has, I've heard from at least that many users just on xda), it's a troubling issue.
The warning on Torch states that the light has been tested for 30min. Honestly, I used mine for five minutes MAX before the plastic started to melt.
Is there a flashlight app that has a "timeout" option? Seems that would solve the problem.

Yeah.. no more than ten minutes...I seen the warning and everything.
Damn. Might hurt to make that same mistake while placing the phone into your pocket.
Thanks for the heads up. I've almost left mine on using an on screen app to toggle the light. I've been spooked about this.
Holy smokes that's crazy. I would be !
I dunno why they bothered with that torch app when HTC makes one that can be perfectly bundled.
I use the Lampuu widget, which shuts off the LEDs when the screen times out. Less of a chance for something like this to happen. Doesn't surprise me though, those put off a lot of light!
Just got the nexus 7, but...
When I change the brightness through the power-control widget or settings/brightness, on or close to the lowest level it turns off the display completely. I can't see anything no matter what the lighting condition is. Is this a software bug? I don't see how I can turn it back easily.
Another problem, when reading book, the light from the left bezel bleeds and I have a darker top-left corner. It is kind of annoying.
I also have the flickering problem when the brightness is set on the mid brightness... software updated right after startup.

My backlight bleeding is very similar.
Does your screen get completely black when the brightness is low? Now, even when I turned on the automatic, it gets complete black. Is it just me or everyone else the same?

Wow. I thought my transformer bled light bad. I'm not feeling so bad now. Of course it has some other weird issues, but has been mostly reliable. If it acts up too much I'll just send it back. I've had it for almost 30 days and can't find any real reason to take it back. It reboots every once in a while if it gets overloaded or too hot (did it today in the sun..of course I had it overclocked too.....) and I've opened the dock to see that it has shut down for some reason, but its not a huge deal. Other users have reported the same, so clearly something isn't perfect. I came to this thread because I heard that the nexus has huge issues. I was curious to see what people were reporting. if I got a nexus like that I would be p****ed! There are reports of them locking up on startup. My transformer just keeps chugging along. Really I've had more problems with apex launcher than ICS on my tf300t.
edit: the light bleed is barely noticable on mine actually...only in darkness does it seem bad. I heard ips displays have issues with that, so took it as good enough for "spec" and really its not all that detractable unless I sit in perfect darkness. Video looks pretty great on the display.
I know this is a problem with a lot of LCDs but do a lot of nexus 4 users have them? Ive used it for 1 week but just yesterday, i noticed that the top right corner of my screen has some bleeding. Really noticible looking at blacks on full brightness. I just want to know if this is common with the nexus 4. Its starting to bug me now that i noticed it. I love everything about this phone except for the fact that the phone goes to 38C battery temp with some usage, the screen bleeds, the radio? or something isnt that good and i lose connection on rogers in canada sometimes, and the touch screen does not respond properly in weather under -10C. (btw does anyone know if this is normal?). The battery life i get with light texting and browsing on CM10 is 5h screen, 30h idle so im happy with that. Its mainly the screen bleed im wondering about

Yes lots of them have light bleeds mine does but I only see it really during startup at night or in a dark room. Do u always use your screen at full brightness? If yes then u could try to RMA but that can turn into and endless loop of messed up rmas. If everything else is good on your phone ID keep your original. Chances are if u RMA its still gonna have light bleeds and maybe worse like a crackling speaker or something.

RMA !
RMA it. Two of us got them at the office today. One was absolutely fine. Turned mine on and the first thing I noticed during bootup was light bleed at the top of the screen. Always see it since it's right on the black status bar. Started RMA immediately, knew I'd regret it and always notice it if I kept it.
Pic posted, note that this was the best I could get the pic to look, it's way more noticeable in person. When I noticed it I was in a well lit room...

Exactly right. If light bleed is so bad that it really bothers you then by all means return the device and try to get a better one, but if you can't even tell if the problem exists don't go looking for it. All you have to gain is dissatisfaction with an otherwise good device. Watch some movies, use the device as you normally would, and if it looks good to you don't worry about light bleed again.

Or you have the same experience I had. Little to no appreciable light bleed. My first N10 had none, but had a small fracture/defect in the glass (you'll see my image in the light bleed forum).
Second one, a nickle sized but very dim bleed and only seen when in a closet with the door closed and no light.
Acceptable.
Loving mine. I have a small "chipping" in the top glass, also minimal light bleed.

I took another picture the other day in a closet, since the first one I posted in another thread gave the screen a purplish glow due to the angle. Also, the Backlight Bleed app icons were at the bottom of the screen so I turned the N10 upside down for this one. The white icons are overexposed, which I suppose means the bleed in the photo may be exaggerated to some extent, but it seems pretty accurate as to the extent itself. Again, 100% brightness in a dark closet. I'm telling myself I can live with it.

If you go looking for a problem - you will find one. Even if there was not one to begin with.
I am on my 6th unit. I've had it for a week, and I've been using it constantly. It appeared to have minimal bleeding upon opening. After a week of "breaking it in," however, the bleed in the bottom left corner is quite apparent. Anything brighter than auto-brightness and it's noticeable in any setting or on any screen. I'm just tired of gambling with every return. I mean...this is my 6th one. *lol*
Judge for yourself.
