There have been some roms on chinese forums which can be flashed on the various Note II devices except N7100. And these roms did not have a modem included as part of the package. Therefore, technically there should not be any difference in the hardware other than the 3G and LTE modules.
I have tried flashing [ROM]VLALJ2[11/27]The_Hybrid| the ONLY TW hybrid rom .... Tablet UI at any DPI .... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2002960 and there was no problem with it. Although I have not tried other roms, i assume that any roms for the different variants that do not include a modem can be flashed. If there is a modem included in the package, you can overcome this issue by flashing the N7105 modem after flashing the rom.
Would be great if you guys can share your ADVENTURES trying the other roms and if they worked the way it has worked for me!

I'm waiting for a Paranoid Android or CM10 Rom for 7105 and I think you have to do more than just flash the modem over according to this thread but I could be wrong

nah not wrong, alot more involved. I'm gonna try porting a ROM over tonight myself. Until an AOSP kernel gets built for our device, we have to stick to TW based ROMs, but it looks like madmack is making such fantastic progress that may only be another 24hrs away! Then we can look at porting CM10
As soon as I get my note2 tomorrow Ill help anyway I can testing etc

no worries...I'm in Australia, so only just started work an hour ago, still got almost 10hrs before home again, then time to try porting. May be moot attempt, by then someone in a different timezone may have already done it! If not though, will try spin some magic and post results.

This rom here: [ROM]VLALJ2[11/27]The_Hybrid| the ONLY TW hybrid rom .... Tablet UI at any DPI .... http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2002960 is almost like Panandroid except that it does not have app per dpi. You can give it a try first if you want while waiting for a port. I am using it at the moment and it has been not too bad so far.
Any AOSP based ROM's will not be able to be ported yet, including Paranoid - no AOSP kernel available (yet) to work with our device. Only stock based roms (HD Revolution for example) can be currently ported across. Things might change tomorrow, as the people looking into the at&t stuff almost have a CM10 working kernel. Given their hardware is almost identical, would give us a good starting point for a n7105 CM10 build
ok, 3 restores are enough for one night! No success, I suspect there's different files involved on our ROM than the other variant. Will look into it again over the weekend when I have more time to scan

Yeh, the original thread is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2018411
That's what I used, but I think there's a few more dependencies got n7105. I also noticed one of the files madmack lists in N/A in N7105 deodexed roms - ./system/bin/secstarter - so that may be a problem. Need to spend a bit of time re-checking dependencies for n7105 roms then have another crack.
I managed to get Android Revolution HD 4.2 to boot by swapping out the files listed (apart from secstarter), editing build.prop and changing the modem, kernel and perseus kernel for n7105 versions, but there's still some minor network bugs.
Each time I reboot i get an invalid sim message and have to dismiss a sim unlock code window, but after that phone calls and data work
Also the rom does not see hspa+ or at least does not display the h+ icon. Under settings>about device>status it will say "Unexpected" under Mobile network type when the connection is active
Overall it seems to run quite well though...

This lol
I remembered when I first got my tab (in short, I traded a laptop, Xbox 360, and games used for a brand new SGT). First thing I did was rooted it via some app. Then I proceeded to install busybox for some reason, then thought "meh I feel like going back to stock" so I just uninstalled busybox (ignoring whatever message it said about not uninstalling it).
Tab didn't reboot, then I panicked and tried flashing something with Odin (not sure what it was, but I ended up trying to fill all the boxes in Odin with some files and then flashing). It failed
Eventually, I then just gave up trying to keep stock and went with Overcome
So I'm pretty lucky to still have my tab lol...
Nowadays, I find it easy to try out different ROM's (I always just restock according to Overcome's GB guide, then proceed to flash a custom ROM and Kernel)
I'd recommend spending some time on Froyo stock for a bit, then eventually trying to update to either stock Gingerbread, or another stable Gingerbread ROM (such as Overcome or Hyperdroid). Then do a bit of research and then try to go to ICS.
Just be careful on what your flashing, always double-check things, and check out people's feedback
Edit:

I believe the roger's tab uses the GT-P1000 kernel but I'm not sure...do a quick search or ask the guys here.
Oh and btw, HumberOS build is quite outdated compared to the releases from Slim's build which can be found here. This ROM .zip already comes with kernel so it should work just fine on your tab I guess? And don't forget to flash gapps after ROM, but I guess that's pretty obvious judging from the other devices you messed with lol

I also bricked my Tab a few times when I started flashing ROMs on it not too bad tho since it's pretty much impossible to hardbrick the tab afaik, I never did and I flashed some pretty dumb stuff on it lol just keep a GB Stock ROM in your pc to flash with Odin/Heimdall and reflash it whenever you softbrick your tab that's what I used to do that or Overcome ROM.

Welcome!
Just a quick note on flashing the tab. As you already noticed, you should get on Gingerbread bootloaders first. The rest is up to you, all current ROMs for our Tab can be flashed on top of them. Seeing you got over the softbrick with Overcome, you should be home free already.
PS: also make sure your tab is charged at more than 10% before you start flashing or you might not be able to get into recovery or download mode. It may look like a softbrick, but you just need to let it charge...
Peace and happy flashing!

Did you split your boot.img and change the ramdisk image and such? While retaining the 500 kernel?
If you are going to port something, this is one of the basics.
Just changing a few hardware files, won't work.

Well, you said it all, probably there is no memory in the the place the kernel is trying to setup its stack, is your kernel an A500 one or is it from another machine with a different memory layout? because it smells like the latter.
Cheers

OK, so so here is a thought. Since the stock ROM for the I9500 and the Korean SHV-E300 has all of the lib files necessary for creation of a ROM, why doesn't someone just use those to try to port a ROM over to see how it would actually work? I just came from the Exhibit 4G and that is pretty much how our device tree was created. Using other phones and our own libs. I know it would take a dedicated dev to do this or attempt it. But in the end it should be very rewarding. Tell me what you guys think.

any dev that can verify this ? possible or not ? any port rom would do Ex. MIUI Rom
It is kind of like porting but not really. It would be using all of our already made drivers that are in .so format and then using partial or full frameworks from the custom ROM sources to build. Just look at it like taking Ubuntu 13.10 and running Gnome 3.8 on top of it as the shell. Neither one of them get along with each other but there are ways to make them coexist and work well together.

Orion was on Droidrzr.com, but the dev has stopped supporting it so he could focus on Slim. You still might be able to DL it, but don't expect updates. The one you linked is good and gets updated, go ahead and use it. I might also suggest SlimBean and BeanStalk, but AOKP gave me the best battery. I just like the options in the others.

right.
the dev of the AOKP ROM you link (Tim) is excellent, and has done a tremendous amount of work for our community. however, the key difference between Orion AOKP and this AOKP is that the ORION version has some additional tweaks that improve battery life (in addition to aesthetics).
otherwise, you really cannot go wrong with either.
Would anyone have a link? I'd really love to A/B them. Plus I'm getting FC's with Tim's ROM after its finally installed following two previous failed attempts.

Testers requested for AOKP 6.0.1 on the Note Edge, T-mobile or other gsm variant.
Hi, I have built several roms for other phones, both personally, and shared on my website, or on XDA.
The Note Edge N915T or gsm variants are getting pretty cheap to buy off of Swappa, Ebay, and Amazon, and I was thinking about picking one up. I am a dad, so I have to be frugal and stick with older/cheaper phones. I can't afford to buy everybody in the family a new cell phone! As I save up a few bucks for it, I was thumbing through the forums and noticed that there were not many non-stock based roms available for it. So, I built one. By God's grace it compiled after a few tries of error fixing. I would like to ask for a couple volunteers to assist me with testing it out.
The applicants would need a little bit of knowledge:
- Have a N915T or a gsm variant
- Have TWRP installed
- Know how to make a backup
- Know how to wipe and flash roms
- Preferably be able to use adb (I can help with that)
- Know how to recover back to stock rom or TWRP in the event of a failure
- Know how to take screenshots/pictures (common sense is in fact a super power)
Essentially, if interested, someone can PM me, or post here to let me know that they would like to try it out. If you PM me, please include the word "N915T" or "N915gsm" in the title, as I get PM's for other devices that I work on. I will PM you a reply with a link to Media-Fire for the download and I would include instructions.
If it fails, well, you can just jump back into TWRP and restore your daily driver.
If it passes, I can make a new thread and list you as an Alpha/Beta tester as well as give your thanks button a good slap!
I never charge money for my work, I do not accept donations, so this is not a ploy to exploit cash from anyone. I just like building custom roms, and I am really interested in buying one of these phones.
Here are some examples of my other roms, if you would like to check that I am legit:

Sounds good Beany23!
I am a Linux only user myself. I use Heimdall and Heimdall-frontend personally, over Odin whenever possible. Often you can just unzip the Odin files and steal the parts for Heimdall to use. The frontend is a great GUI, not perfectly intuitive, but works well.

Happy to hear you are contributing to the Note Edge! Was wondering, do you need to be on stock/rooted MM for this to work. That is, will it work on LP too.
Also, what kernel is used? Thanks!

I am definitely interested...right now I'm trying to get windows into my virtual machine so I can run odin...since I'm a strict linux user we don't get odin but once I root and install twrp I will then backup my current setup and install the aokp rom.also I build custom kernels so if I can I'll build one for this rom but there's an issue with that....I still can't port versions of kernels e.g. from touch wiz to aosp/aokp etc etc

Thanks, I think this is a very nice phone, seems odd to me that it has so little dev support? I can't wait to get one of these phones!
As for the kernel, I am using some material from @micky387 and @deadman96385. This was the material used for the Resurection Remix rom: http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-edge/development/rom-cm-12-0-915f-915fy-t3104315
As for which version you need on your phone prior to, so this will work. Well, that is still TBD. For RR, they say you needed to be on 5.1.1 prior to flashing, but that was for the lollipop version. They have updated to Marshmallow, and I don't know if you need on the 6.0 release or not to make that work. That is why the more volunteers for testing the better!
Thanks for your great questions! I always encourage questions, so don't hesitate to ask!
If anyone else wants to volunteer for testing there is still room for alpha testers!
I have the 915T, any help you need, we are here!

Is this the most current TWRP for the Note Edge? This is what I was working off of.

For those that are interested, to God be the glory, we do have a booting alpha of PAC ROM 6.0.1! The alpha testers are hard at work providing great feedback! Be sure to take a moment and slap these alpha testers thanks buttons for breaking down their daily drivers to keep testing the builds out!

Hello, i got a european SM-N915FY and i would appreciate it to test. The only problem is the defected digitizer, so i'm only able to use the S-Pen and forced to use CWM as recovery...sadly there's no smartpen support in TWRP.
you didnt even have to edit the build.prop and the script for me
