Hi,
Looking into catalogues shown in the Gallery application I noticed a lot of black thumbnails which cannot be displayed when clicked on.
I cleared Gallery data via settings but it did not help.
It is possible to mark the black thumbnails and delete them but somehow it does not seem right.
Can somebody help?
Kind regards
mjw

I faced such problem before. I just unmount the storage and insert back. It will initialize and Everything will be normal again.

hahaha mine used to do that too... drove me nutz....
But that was on Honeycomb...
Now that Im on ICS.. gallery is normal...
no more ghost black frames... which by the way had the same file names as the pictures..
One for each legit photo had a black double...
deleted all the black doubles.... 3-4 days later.. they returned..
Are you on an ICS rom??

mind that black frames appear even when you got ONLY video files inside folder that are not supported by the stock samsung player so the preview doesn't show up neither are going to be played!
Sorry for delayed reply.
I still use Honeycomb as there is no official Ivan release in Sweden yet

So, I restarted my tablet today. When it started back up, all of my widgets were gone. I started to pop them back in and the picture frame one is now 2x2. It was 3x3 before I restarted.
WHAT?!?!?!?!?!!

I've had exactly the same problem. Some times when I switch the machine on (not from a cold boot) the picture frame is 2x2 other times it is 3x3. Gets me to thinking that this info must be held in the coding somewhere and, if that is the case, how easy would it be to chage it.

It's such an odd error if you think about it. No rush though, as the 3.1 update will bring resizeability.

Hi,
I saw the same issue. Not only picture frame was affected, but also digital clock was 3x1 instead of 5x2. In my case it helped to rotate the A500 to portrait mode for moment. After that widgets had expected size again - also in landscape mode.
Can someone else verify...?
Regards
Thomas

Thanks for your response.
My A500 was rooted and I had installed CWM recovery before I upgraded to the unofficial 3.1. I initially had problems with losing Gmail, etc. but after a wipe and re-install everything was fine.
I was only some time later that I noticed that the picture frame widget sometimes had a 2x2 resolution and other times had a 3x3 resolution. Not really a problem - I am only curious why it would do this and if it is possible to change this.
I have sized widgets such as e-mail and gmail widgets, so I know how that works. This resizing does not work on all widgets as far as I am aware.
It would be nice if some of the clever guys on this forum could shed some light on this.

im on 3.1 now and the picture frame cant be resized. mine is also stuck at 2x2 right now
As far as I know I haven't seen anyone post anything concerning this. I used the nexus one before coming to gs2 and it's gallery was smooth. Is there anyway to fix this? Or is it just me.

My gallery works great. You might try going to settings, applications, all, gallery, then clear data. This should just clear the thumbnails. The OS should rebuild the database for the gallery the next time you use it, but after that it should be smooth.
I would recommend backing up all of your photos first, just in case this deletes all of your photos instead of just the thumbnails
Use quickpic
Don't worry, it's due to get replaced soon
It can be ROM problem, for example in Skarbnic ROM the thumbnails are blurred a bit.

It's so much better! (reminds me of my i...)
Thank you!
Anyone else's preview screen when taking pictures or videos is black? Why doesn't it show the viewfinder?
Also, I posted this question 2 hours ago but the thread was removed? What gives? If a thread is deleted at least PM the poster and explain.
Thanks everyone, this has seriously been bugging me and I'm not sure if it's a problem with my Note only.

I am not sure what you mean. Do you mean that when you tap on the camera app, it opens the camera interface, but you only see black? But when you click a photo, it comes out fine?
If so, it seems to be an issue with the software.
Yeah that's exactly it! Anyone else!?

Hi. Can anyone tell me the reason for the black lines on my home screen??
It's very irritating to see them..

I don't see any black lines. May be because images are downsampled. Can you post problematic parts of screenshots, or full-sized images?
Is it just on your wallpaper or always over your whole screen?

If the lines are on your screen, so they cant obviously appear in screenshots, post pictures taken from other camera.

Happens to me sometimes when I set wallpapers. Just pick the same one and set it again.
Assuming it's the wallpaper and not your screen, you need to maximize the area set by the wallpaper as large as you can. You may be a pixel or two off, so when the wallpaper attempts to repeat itself to the next home screen, it fills the gaps in with black pixels. I had this happen on a wallpaper I had set, took me a few tries to finally get it to repeat properly.
I have the same wallpaper

They appear only on some wallpaper. And they are exactly at points where I crop the wallpaper while selecting it.
I had installed QuickPick and Crop Wallpaper and later uninstalled it. Can this be a possible reason?
I am running Paranoid ROM with Hybrid Properties set to Stock UI.

It is the reason, if the issue is now gone

Try an app called Wallpapyrus or something from Play. I never had to crop my pictures again. Guess that should help with the cropping problem if you hated cropping pics like me. XD

Even after uninstalling the apps didn't help. I'm still those lines..

Hi! after every reboot no matter what size of wallpaper i put it got distorted (like zoom in). I add 2 screenshots for you to see... what's wrong?
P.S everything is stock
Am I the only one facing this issue? =\ After upgrading to KitKat i did factory reset to start from scratch... I'm really going crazy to figure out what triggered that...
