Guys, quick question. Yesterday I did some gaming with my Nexus 10. When the battery reached 5%, I plugged it into the wall and continued. Half an hour later, the screen was flickering like mad and as I thought it could have something to do with the charger causing interference, I unplugged it. The tablet went blank immediately. Trying to turn it back on, it showed an empty battery symbol and would not turn on, even while powered with the wall-charger. Leaving it alone on charge brought it back up to 5 %.
I tried again and watched the battery and indeed, it turns out the battery drains slowly while gaming, even when the device is powered. I have used the standard charger that came with the device and had it plugged into the wall (so NOT my computer's USB port, which would explain it). WiFi was running, had not touched NFC and GPS, yet.
Anybody else seeing this behaviour ? I am thinking about returning the device, but would like to know if others are seeing this as well or if this is "broken by design" on the Nexus 10. Thanks!
It's not broken. The N10 is just pulling more energy while gaming than the 5V/2A charger can supply. Next time stop gaming around 5% and you're good.
Yeah , once Pogo charger is out , it will charge inspite of everything you do with it

Hello. I have the same problem with my nexus10. I received it last week but didn't noticed it. But since the last few days, just by using chrome or facebook, with max brightness, the battery stops charging and sometimes slowly discharging.
It's a very annoying problem.

I'm unsure what's wrong!!!
My phone has been fine, until it died today. I practice a 1 charge a day rule and I let my battery drain completely before I even think about putting it back on the charger.
Today, my phone died a littler earlier than expected, but that's okay because I was using my iPhone for most of the day. I got home at about 11PM and put my phone on the charger at 11:15PM. Here it is, 2:25AM and my phone only has 30% charge.
I've never noticed it charging this slowly before because I typically put it on the charger before I go to sleep and take it off when I wake up. This doesn't seem normal from ANY phone that I've ever used or troubleshooted in my life.
Why so slow? Is everyone's phone just as slow or should I be concerned?
Edit: I am using the charger that came with my phone in the same wall outlet that I've used since I got the phone. Nothing else is plugged into that outlet, either.
It would seem sensible to try a different charger and power outlet.

Your should be at 100% in that 3 hours. Try using a tablet wall charger.
With my phone, sometimes it charges in a flash, and sometimes it's charging for hours, idk why they do this.

I don't have another charger. All I own is Apple products, unfortunately.
I've done other other outlets throughout the house before posting, but I wouldn't see why the one I'm using is compromised in the slightest. It's charged the phone fine since I've gotten it.

The only Tablet I have is my iPad. I was thinking about just using the A/C adapter, but I was worried that that might mess something up with my luck. LOL.
You can't use the iPhone\iPad chargers as most of them don't comply with the USB charging standard (It will only charge at 500ma, the limit of USB charging).
You said it died quicker than usual as well? Sure nothing is running that drains the battery? Check the battery usage in settings after leaving it unplugged a while and see if you see anything that's using a ridiculous amount of battery.
I've had the same problem. Sometimes I plug mine into a wall charger and it reads Charging (USB) which may be your problem. Other times it reads Charging (AC).

It's been off of the charger for about an an hour and a half and nothing out of the norm is draining the battery. Screen on time is at 40%, but that's because I was reading all of my sports news and stuff from my device.
Interesting thing to note: I'm at 79% on my Nexus 4 after about an hour and a half unplugged and doing regular browsing. I'm at 98% on my 4s with doing just about the same things as I've done on my Nexus 4, and even watching a YouTube video on my 4s. I've also had a great deal of voice calls and texts this morning to my iPhone. They were neck and neck when I first got my N4 on December 10th. Now, it's dying faster. The only difference is that I've installed Spotify on my Nexus 4 since then... Which isn't running.

It was reading USB last night! I thought that was normal, lmao... Thinking it meant "there is a USB cable charging it and not wireless charging."
Hm... The plot thickens, I guess.
Yeah it sometimes reads USB but if you unplug then plug it back in, it will change to AC. Not sure how to fix it but that's your problem right there.
Question: are you stock, rooted stock, or different ROM?
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
My nexus 4 was all fine till I flashed the r22 kernel.
My phone had about 22% battery left, so I plugged it in to wall, and I started using it at the same time
To my surprise, after 2 hours of being plugged in to wall, the battery has discharged to 19%! And I've been only using Whatsapp with lowest brightness! no heavy usage!
So I left it there to charge without using it, and it reached 95% in about 7 hours! (usually it took 2 to 3 hours)
I reverted back the kernel and the ROM and tried again, with no success! It goes through the same behavior.
Any Ideas? Is something wrong with my device?

Could be the cable? Im using its cable but plugged to the pc.
I am suffering from something similar since updating OTA to 4.2.2. I'm using the official charger and always charge overnight but twice in the last 6 days the device has not been fully charged in the morning. Looking at the battery graph it reached 100% in a few hours but then slowly discharged despite still being plugged in. I use the Clock Daydream in Night mode (and always have, since I got the device in November) so I'm going to disable that first and see if the problem exists. If so then I'll try a different charger. If that fails then it's factory reset time.
it is strange that after reaching 100% plugged it in to wall if i use it to listen to music or something like that still plugged to the wall it discharges to 99%.
This makes no sense to me a phone discharging while plugged to the wall
same thing's happening to me. not really that bothered but I want my phone to charge and not discharge when I play music. ;(

Yes, I've had the same experience since the OTA 4.2.2 update. Went from 8% to 1% while running nothing but XDA app at lowest brightness. Stock charger. Never had it happen before update.

That's your issue, your PC's usb only supplies 500-+ mA for charging. The nexus 4 original charger is 1.2mA.
It's the stock charger, it sucks, try re-plugging the cable several times (check in battery, if charing says "AC" instead of "USB)

Similar issue.
For some reason my nexus is charging very slowly today. It has gone from 24% to 52% in a span of 3 hours, usually is fully charged by that time. Stock 4.2.1. Any ideas why?

I have experience extremely slow charging with anything other than the stock charger with the stock cable. Not sure what that's about, but I hope I don't lose either of them...
The reason why other (phone) chargers won't work/ charge the device slower is because the Nexus charger (the big block) outputs 2A, many phone chargers only give 1A or 0,5A. (You can charge you phones with the N7 charger twice as fast, not recommended though.)

Have a read here http://www.gottabemobile.com/2012/11/19/android-4-2-jelly-bean-bugs-plaguing-nexus-users/
Down near the end of the comments section, old timer Tony has posted an interesting theory. Whether its possible or not I don't know but its an interesting theory in so far as this issue doesn't affect everybody.
Just wondering what standard the cable and the charger is.
What can you use that is not the stock charger, And get the dame charging results.

Mine too... slow as hell on 4.2.1
I searched for slow charging today, as I have found some nights that my Nexus 7, plugged in to the original Nexus 7 charger and using the Nexus 7 usb lead, and displaying Charging (AC), is not full by morning.
Other nights, it is full.
If it has not gone to 100%, then sometimes when I unplug the micro usb and plug it back in again, it charges up the final bit quite quickly.
Is there any way to measure from within the stock Nexus what charging rate it is getting?
Mine charges really quick. Turn off the WiFi while on charge. That should do the trick..(did for me)

Mine takes 5-6 hours to fully charge. I found, the charge increased when the device was off (i.e. less draw, more power for charging).
Download 'CPU monitor' from the play store and see if there is an app hogging your processor. This happened to me the other day. My n7 usually charges from empty in 3 hours, but it was charging much slower.
I felt my nexus was just getting slightly warm on the back, so fired up CPU monitor, and found an app that was keeping the CPU running. So I killed the process and everything went back to normal.

There's a thread on a battery pack over in the accessories subforum. It was a great deal so I got one and have been posting and following it. Related to this thread, why?
I found that the uber smart logic that was added as part of the 4.2 Android release can use a charger designed to the Apple power standard instead of the USB power standard. This means the Nexus tries to sense whether the data lines are connected for data or not. This in turn means that the Nexus can get confused by noise on the data lines and decide to slow charge at the 500 mah max rate because it thinks there's a computer on the other end of the cord instead of a charger. Simply disconnecting and reconnecting or changing cables should make the problem go away.

Install current widget which tells you the charge.

give this a try?
My wife's N7 (I keep it within a week or two of CM nightlies) wouldn't charge at all - It would work, most of the time, if plugged in, but batt would never rise above zero, even if android was not booted up, screen was off, overnight, airplane mode, anything. Flashed different builds, no change.
Sometimes when turning it on, you couldn't get anything but the fuzz, like a bad GPU. Tried ADB, tried power+down trick (toggle to power off) but the bootloader screen never responded to any input.
What fixed it for me was removing the back case, unplugging the battery, and plugging it back in. Suddenly the battery noticed it had 46% capacity. Few days since, so far so good. Not hard to take apart n7's, might be worth a shot if you're having weird batt issues.
The batt cabled on this N7 felt looser than the plug on other n7's I've taken apart. If this issue reoccurs I'm going to stock some tape over the connector.
I tried current widget but it shows "no data" for current.
Battery diviner has graphs which show rate of charging. Last night it recharged from 82 to 100 in 3 hours. This looks interesting.

Well, my Nexus 7 takes up to 12h to charge completly (currently 6%/h). Using the std. AC, but not the original cable... I have doubts that it should take that long, even if I do not use the original cable.
Anyone a clue or similar experiences?

Mine takes roughly an hour and a half to go from 20ish% to 100%

My V20 charges crazy fast. There has been 2 times where It seemed to charge very slowly but I chalked it up to a likely bug or something. Other than those 2 times the device charges as it should, even when I'm using it providing the screen brightness isn't all the way up.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk
I will say if its charging slow make sure the usb end is plugged all the way in to the plug that goes in to the wall. I noticed this morning I was getting a slow charge and when looked at the connection it was not in all the way. Once I pushed it all the way in it started charging fast
Sent from my LG-H910 using Tapatalk
As a v10 user I can tell you that sometimes (even using factory charger and cable) it doesn't go into fast charge.
Unplug it and plug it back in the lock screen should state "fast charging.." not just "charging.."

V20 doesn't charge as fast when using while charging. I am guessing that is a firmware thing or intentional to protect from heat, which I rarely notice.

that's understandable... back in note 7 it gets pretty hot but never exploded or smoked... but note 7 in use while playing a game will still charge the phone in 2hrs...
for me its a really big difference coming from note 7
thanks for everyone's input
using note 7 charger is actually a lil faster than the stock.... as far for my experience
To power up, you consume Red Bull. But your phone just needs its adaptive fast charger. Rate this thread to express how quickly the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 can charge. A higher rating indicates that it charges extremely fast.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
My phone arrived with 54% charge. It took about 40min to charge to full. Will do some more complete testing over the next few days.
The charge speed is something im a bit concerned about. I've noticed charging while the phone is on significantly slows down the charging process. To the point where 10 minutes went by on "super fast charging" and the phone only increased 1% in charge. The minute I laid the phone down screen off and the charging went significantly faster.

Yes because if your using the phone or the phone screen is on your consuming battery life while your charging so it's going to be slower charging than if the screen was off.

Has the charging pad been used to charge other devices and worked as it should? Is the pads own plug and cable being used as they could determine the charge speed too.
On the Fold 2, is fast wireless charging enabled? If you go to the Battery settings in Device Care at the bottom there's Charging. Make sure both Fast Charging and Fast Wireless Charging are on. You can schedule the fast wireless charging to turn off at night so it charges more slowly and, if the charger is compatible, the charging light dims and the cooling fan doesn't turn on.
I only charge wirelessly using the Samsung 15w wireless charging stand and have the Fold 2 scheduled to turn off Fast charge at night. This turns off the chargers fan and dims the light.
All of that is checked. My note 10+ was fine. This is slow as ****. Not the pad. Watch does fine etc. It charges at 12w. Oh well. I guess if I want it fast I'll just have to plug it in.

It's definitely a new experience for me with the charging. I came from a oneplus 7 pro to the note 10+ to this and those could go from dead to full in under 40 minutes.
