To power up, you consume Red Bull. But your phone just needs its adaptive fast charger. Rate this thread to express how quickly the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 can charge. A higher rating indicates that it charges extremely fast.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
My phone arrived with 54% charge. It took about 40min to charge to full. Will do some more complete testing over the next few days.
The charge speed is something im a bit concerned about. I've noticed charging while the phone is on significantly slows down the charging process. To the point where 10 minutes went by on "super fast charging" and the phone only increased 1% in charge. The minute I laid the phone down screen off and the charging went significantly faster.

Yes because if your using the phone or the phone screen is on your consuming battery life while your charging so it's going to be slower charging than if the screen was off.

The issue i have is my note 10+ didn't have this issue nor any phone I've ever used. I could be gaming on my note and it would charge normally.

Didn't the note 10+ have a 45 watt charging right? If you had the charger you probably wouldn't notice it
8% to a full charge took 1hr 15min. Haven’t tried charging while using the device at the same time yet.

I tried a quick test by running the battery down to 90% and then launching a game on the big screen. (Clash Royale) Plugged in the charger while playing and it topped off in just a few minutes. Going to run it down to 50% tonight and repeat the test.
Sent from my SM-F916U using Tapatalk
Repeated the test, this time I had the battery at 55%. Played WGT Golf while charging. Default settings which had screen brightness are 30%. Battery topped off in 46 min.

The phone only charges at 25 watts max
For some reason my phone is taking 6hrs to fully charge from zero on the Samsung fast charging dual pad. What is going on?
I hooked up my USB c gizmo.... only saw max 18w charging using a variety of cables and chargers with fold 2. I'm coming from a note 10+ where I saw 45w max. What gives?

Has the charging pad been used to charge other devices and worked as it should? Is the pads own plug and cable being used as they could determine the charge speed too.
On the Fold 2, is fast wireless charging enabled? If you go to the Battery settings in Device Care at the bottom there's Charging. Make sure both Fast Charging and Fast Wireless Charging are on. You can schedule the fast wireless charging to turn off at night so it charges more slowly and, if the charger is compatible, the charging light dims and the cooling fan doesn't turn on.
I only charge wirelessly using the Samsung 15w wireless charging stand and have the Fold 2 scheduled to turn off Fast charge at night. This turns off the chargers fan and dims the light.
All of that is checked. My note 10+ was fine. This is slow as ****. Not the pad. Watch does fine etc. It charges at 12w. Oh well. I guess if I want it fast I'll just have to plug it in.

It's definitely a new experience for me with the charging. I came from a oneplus 7 pro to the note 10+ to this and those could go from dead to full in under 40 minutes. This phone is much slower charging overall. I Def. Don't regret buying it, i just wish it came with a cheap case to get me by until good ones were out and the charging was on point.

I'm unsure what's wrong!!!
My phone has been fine, until it died today. I practice a 1 charge a day rule and I let my battery drain completely before I even think about putting it back on the charger.
Today, my phone died a littler earlier than expected, but that's okay because I was using my iPhone for most of the day. I got home at about 11PM and put my phone on the charger at 11:15PM. Here it is, 2:25AM and my phone only has 30% charge.
I've never noticed it charging this slowly before because I typically put it on the charger before I go to sleep and take it off when I wake up. This doesn't seem normal from ANY phone that I've ever used or troubleshooted in my life.
Why so slow? Is everyone's phone just as slow or should I be concerned?
Edit: I am using the charger that came with my phone in the same wall outlet that I've used since I got the phone. Nothing else is plugged into that outlet, either.
It would seem sensible to try a different charger and power outlet.

Your should be at 100% in that 3 hours. Try using a tablet wall charger.
With my phone, sometimes it charges in a flash, and sometimes it's charging for hours, idk why they do this.

I don't have another charger. All I own is Apple products, unfortunately.
I've done other other outlets throughout the house before posting, but I wouldn't see why the one I'm using is compromised in the slightest. It's charged the phone fine since I've gotten it.

The only Tablet I have is my iPad. I was thinking about just using the A/C adapter, but I was worried that that might mess something up with my luck. LOL.
You can't use the iPhone\iPad chargers as most of them don't comply with the USB charging standard (It will only charge at 500ma, the limit of USB charging).
You said it died quicker than usual as well? Sure nothing is running that drains the battery? Check the battery usage in settings after leaving it unplugged a while and see if you see anything that's using a ridiculous amount of battery.
I've had the same problem. Sometimes I plug mine into a wall charger and it reads Charging (USB) which may be your problem. Other times it reads Charging (AC).

It's been off of the charger for about an an hour and a half and nothing out of the norm is draining the battery. Screen on time is at 40%, but that's because I was reading all of my sports news and stuff from my device.
Interesting thing to note: I'm at 79% on my Nexus 4 after about an hour and a half unplugged and doing regular browsing. I'm at 98% on my 4s with doing just about the same things as I've done on my Nexus 4, and even watching a YouTube video on my 4s. I've also had a great deal of voice calls and texts this morning to my iPhone. They were neck and neck when I first got my N4 on December 10th. Now, it's dying faster. The only difference is that I've installed Spotify on my Nexus 4 since then... Which isn't running.

It was reading USB last night! I thought that was normal, lmao... Thinking it meant "there is a USB cable charging it and not wireless charging."
Hm... The plot thickens, I guess.
Yeah it sometimes reads USB but if you unplug then plug it back in, it will change to AC. Not sure how to fix it but that's your problem right there.

With current widget, and the same charger, my phone charges at 200mA, my wife's at 600-700mA. This is using the USB wall charger from LG

With no background apps running, my Nexus 4 charges around 800mA until it reaches about 80%, when it starts to ramp down until battery is fully charged.
Thanks. It seems so weird that my wife and I have the same phone, same setup , and hers seems to charge twice as fast.
Mine is always 200mA and hers is 400mA, or when mine is 400mA, hers is ~700mA
I'm going back to complete unrooted stock. See what happens.
The only difference is my phone is newer than hers. Her phone was out of the original batch, mine is very recent. For example, hers is original, mine had the nipples at the bottom to prop it up for the speaker.

try charging your phone when your battery is like ~10% or so.
Mine is very very slow, sometimes only added 1% after an hour of fast charging.
Though when i turn off fast charging on the phone, it charges normally (faster than when fast charging is switched on).
I'm using the Samsung original fast charger (the new tilted model) by the way.
Anyone experiencing the same problem? looks like a firmware issue?
Most times you have to reposition the phone until it says that it's actually fast wireless charging. Kinda Irritating. Also make sure the fast wireless option is turned on in the settings.

I use a Samsung fast wireless charger. Now I also remember that if you don't have the Samsung one then go to your local store where they do have one and land your phone on it. I read that the fast charging wireless feature only starts working after you use a genuine Samsung fast wireless charger, but remains functional thereafter.
Yes it says fast charging and I can tell by the short time from empty to full charge (usually around 1.5 hours) approximately.

S7 Edge (Exynos), using Samsung tilted wireless charger with phone original adapter / cable. Phone it's saying fast wireless charging, but is only fully charging in about 4.5 - 5 hours (starting from 10% or lower).
Tests from 45% took same, about 2.5-3 hours.
Charging by cable: about 1.5 to 2 hours. Also saying fast charging.
Samsung is waiting for me with phone and charger to test them in their shop.
Will keep you updated.
agreed, have noticed that it occasionally shows normal charging rate when in fact attached to a quick charge source... reboot/replug always seems to fix but I've learned to check each time I plug it in so that I don't come back in an hour to find it's barely moved

Fast charging by cable, normally takes ~100mins from 0-100% on S7 Edge. However, my S7E has the same problem as yours with mine charging at average 25% per hour with and without the wireless fast charge option checked.
I just got myself a new V20 yesterday. I tried charging it with my own Quick Charge 3.0 wall charger but I'm not too sure about the charge time.
So I'm going to try again. But before I begin, I need some advice.
How do I check if it's really charging with Quick Charge 3.0? Also, the phone now is currently about 66%, how much more do I have to drain before I commence?

As much as you want. Thing to remember...QC is variable rate, the more charged you are the less fast it is. Also, official posted charge times from OEMs refer to a phone powered off typically.
Right. Powered off. Good point.
And I supposed using an app like "Ampere" is not going to work because of QC3.0's variable voltage and amps, am I correct?

Okay. Just did a little test.
Started at 5pm with 25% battery left and using my own QC3 wall charger.
Ended at 5.50pm with 91%.
That's pretty fast! And the best part, the battery stays cool despite Quick Charge.
I'm going to try charging from 0% tonight.
Edit - Oh and my phone was turned off while charging.

Just an FYI, it's not good to drain your battery to zero. It'll shorten it's life. Keeping it between 40-80% is optimal from what I've read.
Sent from my SM-T810 using Tapatalk
Ampere app on Play Store, check it's charge current values specially when screen is off. I think it should be like between 2400 mA to 3200 mA. When screen is on , the charge current values decreases. Also with the app, you can compare the current values of QC 2.0 versus QC 3.0. Cable should't be faulty.

And the results are good! 30 minutes and it reaches 51%. 60 minutes with 89%. 70 minutes 95%. And 83 minutes to hit 100%.
Very pleased with the results.

Ampere might not be the best way to measure current values because of the way Quick Charge 3.0 charges with variable voltage.
The few times I measured all fall below 1000mAh.

Hey fellas, not to take over the subject matter but feel like you all know batteries well. What if a 1am charger is used overnight for charging. Going with the idea that a slower charge charges the battery better and maintains a better charge all day, or is that not the case. Also is any harm done with charging with a slower charger. Thanks
I never use quick charge at work or at home, slow charging will prolong the battery life. I always start to charge at about 8-15% where possible, and disconnect the charger around 90-95%, this is the proper way to prolong litium battery.
The only time I use QC is when i'm traveling.

It is better to use a slower to prolong the longevity of the battery. You won't get more 'charge' from using a slower charge. I try to use slower chargers when I can. I usually use my Samsung 2A chargers and use my adaptive fast charging when I need quickness. The LG QC 3.0 does pretty well though. Battery doesn't get that hot but I'm quite sure it still isn't good for the longevity. Nonetheless, we have swappable batteries so I can use my AFC and LG QC 3 more often lime I do my note 4. My HTC m8 and moto x pure usually were used with 1A chargers most of the time unless I needed a super fast charge. Also, LG makes quality batteries. Probably why Samsung is switching to them until they figure out what the hell they did. Also, notice apple doesn't use quick charging technology. iPhone's battery tend to hold charges better until a out 18 Mo th period before user starts noticing appreciable decline. The peeps that put iPad chargers on iPhone's will see less longevity from their battery.
So I thought that QC3.0 was supposed to get you closer to 80% in 35 minutes, vs the 50-55 from qc2.0. So I also read that the factory charger that LG sent is a QC2.0 and not 3. So I bought a 3.0 brick and also a new usb c that is certified compliant with QC3.0. Still only got to about 40% in 30 minutes. Not sure what's going on with that. I understand longevity and all of that. However I got this phone because once my battery is shot I can just swap it. So I don't mind getting that faster time and buying a newer battery a bit early.

My V20 charges crazy fast. There has been 2 times where It seemed to charge very slowly but I chalked it up to a likely bug or something. Other than those 2 times the device charges as it should, even when I'm using it providing the screen brightness isn't all the way up.

I will say if its charging slow make sure the usb end is plugged all the way in to the plug that goes in to the wall. I noticed this morning I was getting a slow charge and when looked at the connection it was not in all the way. Once I pushed it all the way in it started charging fast
