Hi Everyone,
I actually live in China and I bricked my old French Motorola Defy (MB525, bought with Orange operator). I think I can fix it because I still can access the bootloader and I just have the "Low Battery" error and can't do anything.
So I bought the Chinese version of Defy+, called Motorola XT535 (XT536 in my case but still the same), it's not exactly the same hardware than Defy+ (eg. I have a front camera). But I have the same battery than Defy+.
Here is my old battery :
BF5X
3.7V
1500/1540 mAh
5.6/5.7 Wh
And here is my new one :
HF5X
3.8V
1650 mAh
6.3/6.5 Wh
My question is : Can I charge my old BF5X battery with my new phone ?
Thank you by advance for your answers ! (And sorry for bad English
yes u can use HF5X in defy MB535, but with stock Rom , its charged upto ~80%,
i am using CM10 and using HF5X battery in DEFY MB525(not defy+), its works fine for me

Thank you for reply ! But my question were for the opposite, I meant BF5X into Defy+ (or better XT535).
Thank you again
.
You can use battery from Defy+, but to use his full capacity you have to install the apropriate ROM.

Not problems at all and charges to full 100% but Battery Monitor shows 1500mAh when the battery is 1700mAh.
I dont know what I can do for detect the right capacity.

Searched but could not find answer to this: is it worth the trouble (or is it even possible) to use the Defy + battery on a dead-stock, non-plus Defy? I found one thread mentioning a couple of "files" needed to be changed to make it work. Does that mean it can only be made to work on a modified rom? Thanks
You can use both of Defy and Defy+ battery with any Defy device. As I do.
There is no need any kind of files to get it work. It is possible that your ROM wont recognize the biggest performance. And when your battery get the last 1% it will stay there for hours without switch off.
There is a good solution to use third party battery monitor apps to get the right state of your battery status.
1.) Battery Monitor Widget Pro
or
2.) Battery Left app with Battery Indicator Pro app
I prefer ther first one.

Wow, really? I thought the Defy+ battery had different chemistry and didn't charge on standard Defys. There was a thread about it a few weeks ago.
How much longer do you find it lasts?
Il be looking for this batt since the original defy does not last long enuf. Damn ! I need 2 batts to last a day and i have to be carefull of my usage.... nexus s lasts 2 times my defy!!!

OK, so from what I've read (though there does seem to be some confusion) the Defy + battery works in the Defy, gives longer performance, but the Defy won't display the proper battery status without software alteration?
Thanks

Extended batteries will never show their true % .... first 100 % of original battery then from 0 their work starts , so no miui or cm7 here

The extended battery uses different tech to your 1700 so any reg defy build will work with it tho may display wrong stats, then when you use the original defy plus battery you will need to flash battery fix on the reg defy roms
Unfortunately you'll have to pick one of your two battery's and enjoy or keep flashing fixes when you swap the battery
teamwork makes the dream work
Defy Plus & 3500mAh battery
Where did you buy that battery? I have only found batteries with that capacity for normal defy but not for defy+.
Is there any new fixes for it on CM10?
My Defy Battery's almost out. I'm thinking about buying another. The battery is BF5X; However some guys said that Defy can use Atrix 4G battery: BH6X or Milestone 3: BF6X - I don't remember, anyone can confirm that? What about the size? Won't they fit Defy?
I've already tried Defy+'s HF5X but I still need a higher capacity battery
Not a chance!
nope!!

Nope!! , and even if they did ,
you will have issues with the rom not recognizing the new batt
my battery drains from 55% to 50% in a sec.. any idea why is that problem?
i've already done the battery calibration and the problem is still here..
defy+ MB526 with quarx cm7.2 20120329 nightly
Did you apply the battery fix?!
as far as i know i dont need the fix coz ist a defy+ nightly and quarx has already implanted into. my battery go to 100 on every charging

During call this fix may not work properly....
but it was in a rasting state.. none of the apps have ran...
I have the same problem, mine is 30% to 19% it happens to me twice within a minute
sorry for my english
Did you try calibrate the battery once??
yes..
Battery drop/ not chargeable to 100% seems to be the only problem to Defy plus
I'm wondering if I should just buy a normal defy battery for my Defy+. No more need for battery fix

Download Battery calibration from the play store, charge your phone till 100% and then calibrate the batterty. The app erases the battery history (which is false and is the reason for such drops). And from there the history file is brand new and the drops will be over

This is an old problem with Defy battery and I was experiencing it some 10 months ago..
I tried all the tricks in the book and nothing solves it; I always (90% of the time) see a drop from 56% yo 49% (and sometimes another one around 25% to 21%).
At least three people (one being Walter79) said that it is a hardware issue and that they've fixed that with a new battery.
Hi, I need a new battery as mine is worn, I need to know if I buy a higher capacity battery (ie mugen or defy + battery, not fakes) on my green lense defy will it cause me issues? If I flash a defy + rom I lose camera as I am green, so can I safely use a higher capacity battery and still get a full charge out of it?

It should work if you flash battery fix in froyo kernel ROMs

If the mugen is for MB525 then you need no fix.
For the Defy+ battery, I think you need to flash the battery fix that was going around in the Epsy CM threat (as he has no Defy+, he used the Defy batt and the Defy+ users had to flash a fix.)

Yes, so even though its a bigger capacity it will read right?

I won't vow but I thought the Defy+ battery works with the battery fix from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1795647
There were some that tried. It somewhere in the Q&A
The mugen 1700mah will work. It is a 3.7 lithium ion battery. Same as the MB525 (BF5X) one.
The one from the MB526 (HF5X) is a 3.8 lithium ion polymer battery.
The 'replacement' battery's from ebay with stated to work with Defy+ are all for Defy so a nogo for the Defy+ users.
I have just bought a Defy+ battery for my Defy (green lens). The problem is that you never know how much battery is left. It goes from 100% to 1% in a few hours and stays in that 1% until it is fully drained (10 hours or more).
For what I have read it is impossible to have green lens camera and the Defy+ battery working at the same time:
- If you use froyo kernel camera will work but the battery won't.
- If you use gingerbread kernel it will be the other way round.
So for now I prefer a working camera without knowing how much battery is left.
The only silver lining I have found is in this thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1627631). It is for the photon 4g but it might be possible to make it work in our Defy.
Weren't there defy+ users on froyo kernel? (By flashing the bl5 eclair or BL6 froyo)
Are you sure you have the right battd and lib?
But I don't know for sure of course because I don't own a defy+ nor battery.

I don't see why a Defy+ user would have a Froyo kernel, neither the camera nor the battery will work.
I have tried another battd/libbattd but it gives a question mark inside the battery meter.

Sucks.
Camera does work AFAIK.
They did it when CM9 began and epsy did a couple of defy only roms and some defy+ users couldn't wait.
And they can return to GB kernel just by flashing it in recovery.
Could be the battery doesn't work on froyo kernel. Sucks a bit for Green lens defy users.

There is no real fix for battery on red lens defy+. It might show you full charge but it will never go more than 4.15V and it used to be 4.35V in stock rom.
