For some reason, when I use Spotify and get a call... If I go back to Spotify to resume my music my N4 will just shutoff without warning. Was wondering if this is having this issue. Thinking I might've gotten a dud device because some of my other apps that should be working fine don't even open on my N4

I was having this issue as well. I had the phone shut off while in a deep sleep overnight and while making a call with sipdroid. I ended up flashing the factory image which wipes the phone including sdcard. No shutdown since. I did have it reboot after changing from mobile data to Wi-Fi manually but I think this rom has several issues with WiFi. There are several threads about the phone losing Wi-Fi on a deep sleep.
Make sure you aren't using apps with known incompatibilities.

Until yesterday if I had an app like Pandora or ESPN Radio playing/running when the screen kicked off the app would keep playing. However, now when the phone goes to sleep everything else gets shut off. I have not altered anything myself per se. Even uninstalled a few apps like AutoKiller [which I had installed for weeks and everything worked fine with it on and installed] but the problem persists and remains. This really perplexes me as I want/need these apps to play with the screen off like they did before. For the life of me I don't know why this is; nor can I find anything in settings to change.
Help!?
I haven't noticed this with Pandora but the NPR apparently stops playing about 15 minutes I turn the screen off.

Are you using goto lockscreen

Well it magically works fine now. For the life of me I could not tell you what caused it or what I did to cure it. I guess problem solved
My stock music app seems to have started rebooting my phone after about 5 minutes of listening. The phone will then kept resetting itself until I power it off myself.
Strangely it seems to randomly move one app icon from the application menu half the time it reboots.
It's only started happening today and there are no issues when I use Winamp to listen.
There's no change to my phone over the last few days and the music app was fine until today.
Google didn't seem to bring up any useful info, any ideas what's causing it or how to fix it?

WOW and I thought I was going crazy with my phone
This morning alone, I was trying to have myself some music, and the phone freaking bounced like 4 times during 20 minutes.
I have 2 suspect combinations of conditions when this might happen. Both include of course the stock player running:
1) The setting is switched on that mutes the phone when you turn it face down - I suspect it has something to do with the reboots
2) The phone is manually switched to Airplane mode, or there are some rare issues with signal (I am in New York City, signal is the worst here)
Did you by any chance have any of these 2 when your phone bounced?
I have this too. I use poweramp as my music player and have no issues. Using stock KE7.

I've got the face down mute thing on but I always lock the screen when listening to music and it's never caused issues before.
As for the signal, it happened to me at home where I have great signal and then again when I was at the gym, where the signal can get a bit ropey but not in the area I was in when I experienced the problem.
I can't really think of anything that might have caused it. It's not a huge issue for me yet but if out starts affecting other music players then it'll really bug me
I didn't have this issue until I upgraded to ke7
I'm back on ke2 and zero issue with the music app. Look in the ke7 thread, there are few posts about the soft reboot

Have had my nexus 4 for 2-3 weeks and it has shutdown on me 2 times so far. Both occasions the phone was untouched and was shut off without me knowing, how long and when I have no clue but on power up my wallpaper is reset to default. I don't notice anything else besides that being changed. Anyone have a clue to a fix?
What ROM u have? I'm having same issues. I'm using Xylon. I'm bout to flash Franco #28 kernel and see if it helps.
U should try flashing a new kernel too.

bone stock. haven't done anything to it.
I also get something similar. It happens when I lock my screen. Once the screen goes off, it sometimes won't come back on until I restart my phone by holding down the power button till it's off, and then booting it. I'm not sure about my wallpaper changing, but it has happened on every rom I've used. Also, It didn't happen on stock, but I don't think I was even on stock for a week.
This never happened when I had stock...it started happening when I flashed the ROM. Hope Franco's Kernel helps.

this happens to me from time-to-time. It's not a hardware issue, it think it's a glitch with this version of the os.

Well, I called and got an RMA. Seems like a known issue as well as a battery life issue some others seem to be having. Maybe they are connected in some way. Rep said this new batch they are sending out (RMA's) do not have these issues. I hope so...
Put me down as someone having this issue, Happen 3 time now, On stock rooted os.
I read that Google have confirmed there is an issue with the latest OS that can result in random reboots. I think it has to do with location services.
I also read that turning off any options for emergency broadcasts can help with random reboots.
Some widgets that use weather can result in reboots (due to them using location services to get correct weather), and since I disabled all emergency broadcasts and stopped using widgets that show weather, I have not had a random reboot (and I was having at least one every two days before). I am still using widgets that have the ability to show weather, but I just do not show weather and this seems to help.
Random reboots was causing a major battery drain for me and since I stopped getting these reboots, my battery lasts much longer.
I am on stock ROM, rooted.

Hey everyone, just got my nexus 4 a couple days ago and it's awesome so far, but I've noticed an issue with my Bluetooth. Sometimes it just won't turn on, which is fixed by rebooting the device, then while streaming music through Bluetooth in the car, it will cut in and out. Is this a common problem and is there a fix for it?
Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 2
I also just got my N4 yesterday. Drove all the way to work this morning with audio streaming from my phone through bluetooth with no issues. Maybe try doing a factory reset?

It's a common 4.2.2 bug google may fix it in the next version, I don't think there's a known cause yet.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2163979
For me, it's caused by a location app. I uninstalled it and turned on/off bluetooth then re-installed the app. Everything works fine now.
Let me preface this by saying this is my experience. I am passing this off to see if others are experiencing the same thing. I am not dissing this phone because I really like it.
I have seen more than 10 random reboots with this phone. The crazy part is when the phone reboots, I lose settings.... Like a lot of them. I recently experienced and my notification bar started malfunctioning where the settings would not pull up and I could not long press panels. I finally had to factory reset my phone.... After that, it rebooted again this morning while I was listening to the radio.
At this point I am going to have start a log to try to correlate where the problem might be.
This is very concerning. I have never experienced anything like this even with custom Roms.
Please let me know if anyone else is experiencing this.

I've read that other people are experiencing this too. Hopefully mine doesn't come like this. I would recommend returning it and getting a new one. This is ridiculous that this is happening
Try removing all apps you installed and see if you cant pin it down to an app but if all said and done and phone is stock meaning you installed no additional apps and still see it happen then to me sounds like a Hardware problem and you should return it for a replacement.

I'm having the exact same issues. Once or twice a day, usually in USA Today or IHeartRadio, it reboots. Once I experienced that loss of settings also and had to factory reset. I'm going to return the phone.
Try wiping the cache partition

Is there a way to do this on a non-rooted phone?
Sent from my SM-G935T using Tapatalk
Go into recovery mode with phone completely off .volume down+home button+power button. If that doesn't work factory reset and if that doesn't work return the phone or if possible reflash stock firmware through ODIN.

Yes, I use bluetooth to listen to IHeartRadio. I tried clearing the cache thru recovery. It did not work.

I have been watching watchespn for about an hour with my bluetooth headphones... No problem. I need to test iHeartRadio some more. With that said, I think there is a deeper issue here just because I've never seen settings get changed like that.

My Bluetooth streaming was janky got this notification and restarted the phone. Problem gone. Dunno the relevance but this was a system notification
Just switched back to iHeartRadio on bluetooth, I was coming here to read a reply so I clicked the home button and rebooted.

The beta version (6.0.0) of the IHeartRadio app seems to have fixed my reboot problem (which was happening on both bluetooth and earphone modes).
Update, it is still rebooting, even using the beta.
First reboot of the day. IHeartRadio and Bluetooth. I am already running 6.0.0 of the app.

(note that I don't typically do iHeartRadio and Bluetooth on the weekends.)

My experience was different. I didn't have any random reboot but I did get the phone just hang.
Before my Springbreak trip I was testing out a sport camera and downloaded an app that could remotely control the camera. Everything seemed to be working smoothly during the test. Then when I was done, I shut down the camera, turned off the phone and started packing up.
Then I needed to use the phone, so I turned it on.. it's turned on but I couldn't do anything, the screen was unresponsive.. I couldn't swipe or press anything... I attempted to reboot it... the power button still worked... the reboot menu came on but I couldn't press anything... I still could turn the screen on and off and brought up the reboot menu.. but jsut couldn't do anything with it..
Only one option was available which is to force it reboot by holding Power and Down volumne.
That was weird, especially on a brand new device.
I've seen it reboot a few times, and it is especially annoying when you are trying to show your device off and it reboots...in front of people...randomly. I am not sure if I want to return it just yet because it is a Touchwiz/android bug that I have experienced on other devices as well. It MAY be an app issue but I can't pinpoint it yet.
I was trying to launch my DJI Phantom app and it just hung/restarted - got stuck on tmobile screen and it wouldn't let me do a hard-reset! Had to wait a few mins and it recycled.

This is exactly what happened to mine, I was going to return it and put it on the charger and it rebooted. Knock on wood, No problems since. I'm going to keep a close eye on this in case I need to exchange.
Yes, same here. Bluetooth headset with iHeartRadio makes the phone reboot and lose some settings. Maybe a bug with iHeartRadio and 6.0.1.
