Ok to cut a long story short so this is what happened
1. I am using hyperion.. Because of oc feature i wanted to flash merruks kernel
2. Formatted my rom, backed up using cwm, flashed kernel via odin.. Flashed elite modules and ext4 converter and restored system data and cache
3. Rom did not boot.. So i reflashed rom and restored a previos nandroid backup..
4. To show to a friend of mine i intalled cm9 by whitexp.. No boot so restored
5. Got bored of hyperion so reflashed stock this morning via odin.. Successful flashing but before rebooting it said in recovery E: can't mount data.. Phone got bootloops...
6 reflashed hyperion restored backup and phone is working
From all thia i have concluded that my /data is converted to ext4 permanently which is supported neither by stock nor by whitexp's kernel....
So finally here is my question.. HOW CAN I FIX THIS? I want my stock rom back..
I am even comfortable with terminal emulator commands if you just tell it in a normal human understandable language... Lol
but please help me fix this.. Thanks
P.S only post reply if you really have a solution.. No noob or spam answers please

Install a stock rom using odin preferably a wipe package, and use totoro_0623.pit file and check repartition. It will format everything back to rfs

oh...not again. you don't even have sgy. @thom80: enter recovery mode then wipe /data. it will solve your problem.
yes i used the cmw recovery too, wipe data, cache , etc, but anything change.
Unfortunately my original stock firmware (gts 5369 italian) is not avalible in odin format, only one package file in samfirmware, and this one package doesnt work with odin for the samsung galaxy y. I used all gts 5360 firmwares until now, which are 100% working,i had not any problems until the yesterday's fail

have you try to repartition your phone? you'll need to load sgy's pit file and tick repartition option on odin.
First of all, your phone is just soft bricked.
1.Try wiping data and cache from STOCK RECOVERY... if it fails then your is havin some mounting errors.
2.try to install another firmware via odin.. dont repartition anything
3.Ask for a nandroid backup from someone and restore it.
Even I have tried flashing 1 file firmware and it always fails but it CANT create problems in your previous rom because it doesnt start the process of flashing

Hello,
I tried multiple times to install a ROM with ClockWordMod Recovery on a rooted Samsung Galaxy Y with stock kernel & rom.
Even when I reflash the stock rom with Odin and try everything what people suggest on the internet, it doesn't work.
I get the next error when I try to install a ROM like JellyBlast or some other ROM's: Installation aborted(bad).
What can I do to fix this ?
And also it isn't possible to flash ClockWordMod Recovery for permanent, need to flash it over and over when I restart recovery.
If this problem is with multiple roms, you need to probably try another zip file of CWM. If this is for one particular rom, download the rom zip again; you must not have downloaded it fully.
Sent from my GT-S5360 using xda premium
there are some roms which install only via recovery not cwm..
nd if u want permanent cwm try to install a kernel with cwm like savie's kernel..
**rooting is new for me...and i am noob to root...**
This happened because ur downloaded ROM file is bad. Do a redownliading or unzip it with zipper then zip it again. Then it will be ok. Last time i had a problam like this
Sent from my GT-S5360 using xda premium
Most probably corrupted files
clearly,god is a democrat!
Thank you all for the fast responses and I tried also different roms and I have a second problem too with unzipping the roms.
When I try to unzip all of the roms that I tried, It gives an error that I can't unzip it, and I tried 4 times to download again and again the ZIP, but nothing works.
Do you guys have an idea of a kernel with permanent CWM and an ICS rom for Galaxy Y that works by installing it with CWM ?
So yes, could you please send me the XDA-thread if possible ?
@menewtoroot: Could you send me the correct topic of that Kernel with working download links and can you also confirm that this will work for a permanent CWM ?
Thank you all again, I will wait for you
Firstly :
Problem if you fail to flash, try to check the flashable zip file, maybe Bad file/corrupt file
Second :
if you want to have permanent CWM on your phone, i recommend you to try using Savie kernel
it so fast and more performance and have Permanent CWM

I suggest you use Merruk kernel.
Fast and bug free.
If I helped maybe you would consider hitting thanks button.

Hello guys,
I did try everything like it does need to be working, but it doesn't work.
First time I tried, the ROM booted but everything crashed so I started over again:
Wiped everything
Flashed Stock rom with Odin
Flashed the Jellyblast rom
Flashed CWM with Merruk kernel
Tried to boot and stuck at boot screen
Tried this for several times, even without flashing Merruk's kernel it doesn't work.
Can you please provide me a short SELF-MADE tutorial with the easy steps to do what and FLASH what?
With the files included please ?
Thank you all!

but when im on savies kernel i can mount and unmount flawlessly
EDIT:
since I cant mount data, whenever I backup stock rom, towards the end it says can't mount /data and when i try to restore it, it says MD5 sum invalid or something like that

Format data & format system in cwm first before mounting
if after formatting you still can't mount you will need to flash stock rom via odin (see dokys thread in dev section)
I have been a Samsung Galaxy Y user for more than a year. I have to say that this device is awesome. But.... I have later noticed 2 problems.
1) One day I tried to install Elegance ROM. I followed all steps very carefully and when the installation was done, I rebooted my phone. Unfortunately, my phone booted up again at Samsung stock firmware. I tried to enter recovery mode because I wanted to see what went wrong, but I was automatically redirected to CWM recovery. I tried once again to install Elegance ROM, and the result was the same. From that day, CWM is my default recovery. Why? How to fix this??? I can't access stock recovery and I also cannot install any custom ROMs. How to fix this?
2) Even my SD card is full with songs, photos and videos, the "Gallery" and "Music" apps don't read any file. Why? How to fix this?
P.S. I'm running stock 2.3.6 rooted.
Thanks for help.

You have a permanent cwm because you are using a custom kernel with a permanent cwm - probably was included in the rom zip
If you want stock recovery flash stock kernel (can be found in general section or flash hells fusion #50 from dev section and select option to flash stock kernel)
you would of remained on stock rom after flashing another rom because you didn't mount system in cwm before you flashed the zip
As for your other problem flash stock rom via odin as you have probably mucked something up from flashing zips incorrectly
So.... If I flash the stock kernel, will I be able to access stock recovery and flash CWM every time I want?
By the way, this mess with the files started when I changed my phone's SIM card. When I turned my ohine on again, I opened by mistake the "Galery" app. I noticed that no images were there. I also thought that the "music" might also had the same problem. And that's what happened. Which Odin version I will need?
Thanks again.

Yes stock kernel = stock recovery and you can flash a temporary cwm
there is no problems with a permanent cwm in custom kernels as you need cwm to flash roms
If you goto phone settings about phone it will show you your current baseband - for example mine is xxlf3
You can either download that stock rom firmware from dokys thread if there or any other from your country
Thanks everybody. You are all really helpful. I appreciate your help. But tell me, do I need to mount system before installing Elegance? And while I'm having a custom kernel installed, can I flash roms or I need the stock kernel?

Follow instructions on the op of the rom you want to flash
you must always mount system before flashing a zip else nothing will happen - you can flash zips all day and no changes would happen as it can't write to system as it's not mount!
As a general rule
wipe system
wipe data
wipe cache
mount system
mount data
mount cache
flash zip
format data (not always required just for some roms)
restart
you do not need to go back to stock to change rom
There are guides in general section - please read them first then you would understand the process
