Got the N10 a few days ago and I noticed immediately a severe 5-7 sec wake-up lag. The delay is so long that instinctively, I always press the power button twice, believing the unit is powered down (the Xoom I owned before would wake-up almost instantaneously).
This problem is/was always present, even with the unit completely stock.
Other owners experiencing the same problem? What's your average wake-up delay?
Thanks,
---Mirco.
I usually have about a 1-2 second lag upon waking. It's a little annoying sometimes, but not too terrible considering how much I love the tablet.

I haven't noticed this issue at all with my unit.
I notice about 1-2 sec delay sometimes when waking my tablet.
I posted a video on YouTube that exemplifies the problem:
youtube . com / watch?v=sbjCi8K6kyY (the forum won't let me post links: remove the spaces to watch)
As you can see, from the moment I press the power button (sec. 5) and the moment the tablet wakes up (sec. 11) there's a full 6 seconds delay.
I've seen it on mine... It seems like the screen always ends up rotating when I see the lag.

Haven't figure it out yet: it started doing it right out of the box so I doubt it's some sort of software/configuration problem.
All I know is that it's driving me crazy and I'm ready to return the unit.

Tried it on my unit and it's doing the same thing! But it's random, sometimes I have a 1-2 sec delay and sometimes 5-6 sec. Very strange...

Best advice I can give is reflash the stock image from Google, instructions are available on here or on the android side itself, along with the image.

Did that, several times. Completely stock, bootloader locked/unlocked, rooted or not, it makes no difference: the 5-6 seconds wake-up delay is always there.
One thing I noticed: it disappear when the tablet is connected to my PC via USB cable. In this case wake-up time is the normal 1-2 secs.
I've just noticed the same issue. Mine can work fine for a few unlocks and then it will flash the unlock screen for a split second and go black. After reading the other posts on here, I left it for a while and 25 seconds later (tested three times now), the unlock screen appeared properly, enabling me to enter my pin and use the device. If I didn't enter the pin, after a couple of seconds of inactivity, the screen would power off as per the normal 30 timeout for pin entry.
If this is another hardware fault, I think I'll have a little cry First my Nexus One had digitiser issues, then power button problems (both times replaced/repaired under warranty). The Galaxy Nexus had 5GHz wifi issues and the Nexus 7 had bezel lifting issues...
**UPDATE**
As soon as I posted this, I remembered I'd recently installed LightFLow to get my notifiction lights for emails like my GNex has with CM10. I uninstalled it and tried again. After 30 power off/on cycles I haven't had one instance of it having the unlock delay...Seems connected in my opinion (in my case anyway).
I see nobody else here remembers having to wait for radio's or tv's to "warm up" before using them 1-2 seconds? HAHA, yeah, terrible lol I'm not talking just the 30's to the 60's here, I mean the 70's and 80's, I'm 41 Maybe those of us my age and older appreciate the tech now the most, because we've seen it progress so much from where it was.

On Eclair and Froyo FRF50 my phone wouldn't wake up until I gave 3 tries, and google said it was a hardware issue with HTC. Today when I updated to FRF72 the problem is gone. I'm so happy! I was about to settle for a replacement.
Lucky you! First I thought the same and then it came back.....i don't have it very often and normally I don't need more than 2-3 attempts.

Yeah I used to get attempts, now none! But my lights flash first and then the screen turns on.
me too!
I always suspected this was a software issue based on the fact that the lock button always worked perfectly when the n1 was on and unlocked.it just took a few tries to unlock and it was basically impossible to lock it again straight from the lock screen while just checking the time or seeing what a notification was.i haven't seen it happen at all since installing FRF72 though so much nicer now ......
fixed it for me too... Used to sometimes take me a few tries to turn it on. Now its flawless. I also am happy. I knew it wasnt hardware cause it would turn off everytime, just wouldnt turn on all the time.
Glitchy button (bad/incorrect/missing RC chain for glitch-free operation), and a workaround for it in SW (canceling press registrations for X time from initial press), I guess... Technically it's possible.
+1
Fixed this issue for me too!
I'm glad to hear it. I also get this from time to time, but i'm still on FRF50. I'm waiting for the final one.
This started happening only after i put FRF50 on my Nexus. 2.1 had no such issue with the power button.

Same here. First I thought it was fixed but after a little while, absolutely not. I need that same 1-3 attempts, depending.
i thought it was fixed too, but today i had too press it multiple times again.

I'm not sure what to think. I did notice a great improvement in the responsiveness of the power button after I upgraded to FRF72, but after a day or two I began having problems again. This morning the switch became all but unusable -- I have to press it with my fingernail in exactly the right spot to get it to work at all -- and I've requested a replacement from HTC, so there is definitely a hardware component involved, but it's indisputable that the problems I was having before I upgraded disappeared for 24-48 hours after the upgrade. Very strange.
Also I couldn't make the phone go to sleep when I was on the lock-screen, it just shuttered. So for instance if I wanted to check the time I would have to press the wake button like 3 times, then check it, then unlock it and press the sleep button.
Has anyone else had "wake lag" on their Atrixes?
What I mean is where the device is sleeping, screen off, in your pocket for a while, etc. Press the power button, count to 3 or 5 or so, then the screen comes on.
It doesn't seem to happen all the time, but when it does it's really annoying.
i jsut noticed that on mine too. its getting really annyoing.
I just noticed this after reading this post... haha now its annoying me! lol mine takes about 2.5 seconds once in a while. Not a deal breaker though
I do see it occassionally.

Some reports attribute this issue to the fingerprint scanner. Do you have this enabled?

I had that until I installed "Launcher Pro" and now I don't have that problem anymore...
i got this annoying lag in incoming calls. the phone ringing but the screen still black
Maybe it has to do something with the update we got. I don't remember it having wake up lag when I had first gotten it.

I don't either, but I don't remember it when I first updated to 1.57 either. Maybe it has something to do with uptime? I haven't rebooted in 5-6 days. Coming from Windows Mobile, I am happy to have a phone that doesn't get "stuck" and need to be rebooted every day but....
I don't know what lag you guys are talking about.. ? I get zero lag whatsoever.
Well i'm noticing it now. The longer the phone is in standby, the longer the sleep time is (up to about 5 seconds)

Yes, that is exactly what I am talking about.
My phone has been in my pocket for almost 2 hours. I pulled it out, pressed the power button, and it took ~2 seconds to get to the lockscreen.
pushed the button again to turn the screen off, pushed it again to turn it back on, it took ~1 second.
I swear when I got home yesterday from work and turned it on it took like 5 seconds.
On a related note, it used to seem take longer to come out of standby when I was using SetCPU and forced it to 200 MHz when the screen was off. I don't use SetCPU anymore, but maybe it's related to CPU scaling. If the phone is in "deep sleep" and the CPU clocks down to its lowest frequency maybe it takes longer to wake up.
yeah i noticed it when i needed to reply to a text that a pressed it didnt come up so i pressed it again nothing and gain then it did. i thought it was my power button. but after a reboot it was doing the same so i figured it was the update we got.
I have this lag, new thing, happened today for the first time. Nothing to do with the update, since I'm on Bell's Atrix (no update yet). I even took off the battery once, as it was not waking up after a good 20 secs...

It has gotten worse for me as the day has gone on.
I think this phone's going back before my 30 days are up. This is just another little thing in a long list of little things that are bugging me. I want to like the phone, I really do, but it's just not doing it for me I guess.
i installed the update for AT&T users and i got to say that there is no wake up lag for me anymore.
just my 2 cents

Nop no lag
never mind the lag is still here.
I completely drained my phone so it shut itself off. When I restarted it after it had charged for a while it seemed a lot snappier. Maybe the phone just isn't made to handle 96 hours of uptime.
Kind of like older Windows PC's lol.
i just factory reseted my phone. lag still there. or maybe becuase its downloading apps. ill see how it goes.
My N7 was flawless until some days ago.
Usually to turn on, I had to press the power button for 4s and it would turn on, never ever failed. Also on the boot sequence (the X of nexus), it took relatively low time, even when I had all of my currents apps installed (nothing changed).
For the last days, it's happening that sometimes the device doesn't wake up after pressing the button. I've checked and I have to press it for 20-25s in order to see the "Google" logo and have it start booting.
Also, the nexus "X" boot animation also randomly takes like 4x longer, and it seems to not have any relation with the 20s pressing issue, since it happened me both with the 4s and 20s pressing power-on times.
But both of those issues came together.
Anyone else with the same issue? Would a factory reset solve the problem?
Thank you in advance.

How much memory is free on your N7? I've seen posts from people who have had similar issues when they came close to filling up the memory on their N7.

16 GB model, more than 6GB left.
It has been like that for the last 2 weeks.
I have to press it 2-3 times before the phone powers on. It doesn't happen all the time. it's very intermittent, but it does happen. After doing a factory reset, the button still performs the same. This just stated happening 2 days ago. I didn't drop it or get it wet. Anyone else experiencing this or do I have a faulty power button? I also get a delay when using the home button to turn on the phone. The home button issue might be due to the SD card though. Really love this phone, but this issue is frustrating!
You have to press and hold the power button for a few seconds to turn the phone on from cold.
The home button is probably because of S Voice which is set to activate with a double click of it, so it'll wait to see if you click it twice before going to the home screen, you can disable this in S Voice's settings.

Sometimes I have to press the power button more than once to put the phone to sleep. Do you experience the same? Is this normal? I am coming from a GS2. This never happened. I purchased an unlocked phone from GSM Nation. I am past the 15 day window to return, so I don't know how they will proceed. If I send my phone to Samsung, I'll be without a phone.

To be honest, no, it goes 'to sleep' pretty instantly with one press on mine.

You might not be pressing the button deep enough. If pressed properly, it should go to sleep with just one press. Long press will pop up the shutdown/restart menu. If turned off, long press of 2 sec will power on the phone.

Yes, I'm having this problem and I think others are too. I've had 10-30 second wake up lags at times (I have one of them recorded for proof). I got a replacement phone yesterday and while I didn't use it long enough to experience all of the lags, it had a pretty constant 2 second wake up lag. I'm now using SoftLocker to prevent the phone from going into deep sleep and that's minimizing the lag.

I guess it depends on the RAM utilization. The delay happens to me when the RAM is highly utilized.
Does anyone who is having lag issues, have ART as their runtime? I had such nasty lag with ART that I almost took my phone back. Once I switched back to Dalvik, everything was really fast. If you don't know what ART or Dalvik is, then it's probably something else.

Anyone else see this? Usually works that all of a sudden I need to press the power button to turn the phone on.
I think I have found the issue.
I believe it's pocket mode and the sensor stops reading and thinks it's covered
Yeah. It happens to me every so often. See this thread, https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-6t/help/lock-screen-freezes-t3869001. It was really starting to get bad when I was on 9.0.6. Sometimes even hitting the power button wouldn't wake it immediately. I'd have to hit it a few times, which would then trigger the camera. Since I updated to 9.0.7, it hasn't happened as frequently, maybe only a couple of times. I hadn't considered it possibly being related to pocket mode since I notice it mostly when I pick up the phone off of my desk.

Yeah I take the pocket mode comment back. I only noticed it happening the device was covered but it has happened the times within two days where the device is out on my desk. I can't find a cause or pattern it's just annoying.
