Well, i waited so long for the S3 and after the Huugeeee dissapointment i got from what was supposed to be a new and high end phone (1gb ram? same gpu??? no A15??? wtf?? i dont comment on design, everyone has it taste,i comment the specs) well i decided its time to move on from my SGS 1 which was THE best phone i ever had, so much ahed from its time...maybe the best electonic device ever...
So i am ready to buy a galaxy note.
I am a power user, bought more than 600 apps,i flash roms, kernels, run scripts etc...almost daily so you get the picture.
First
Is it good for me? Since i already have an ASUS transformer tablet?
Is the flashing procedure easy?
Finally if i buy it,with which custom rom and kernel should i start?
So much to learn from the start.....
Thank you
Buy the Note!
I have Asus Transformer Prime and i can't get enough of my Note ...
But if you carry both devices in the same time with you then i recommend to buy the S3. You don't need the tablet when you have the Note with you.
geez dude .. if you do all that flashing on a daily basis learning the tricks on note is the most simplest thing for you..
and you will love the UI transformations it has between GB , ICS and all the available custom ROMS..
I personally moved form GB and am in the ICS Stunner ROM .. love it and i will live with it mostly till the official ROM form Samsung is out and customized by stunner again ;-)
Just ordered it...
lets hope it wont let me down and we get to see soon the premium ics package
i dont have to input the image verification
all in all ,just buy it if you like
the big screen gives strength,
but the black grime is serious when seeing movie or
watching a picture
think over it ...
Well guys, our device isn't getting any younger, and many of us have got new devices. In order to keep the forums cleaner this thread is meant for saying goodbye.
I've got a Nexus S, but I still have GT540 lying around, I just want to say thanks to our devs for making our device such a wonderful and interesting experience, also I want to thank everyone who helped me and answered my mostly stupid questions. I'll still visit GT540 forums but probably less often.
Again, thanks everybody!!!
Odlicna promena, nek te sluzi bolje nego gt540.

Goodbye too
I say goodbye to the community GT540 too. I bought a Galaxy S i9000. So thanks to all the developers who keep this device alive.
I didnt want to create a new topic, so I wrote it here
hi guys,
bought a LG Optimus 2x ...
last rom i flashed to gt540 was miro's last AOSP because there is no need for swap (and an sd-card) and its stable and fast...
But know he has also left so its time to change ...
I'll randomly look into this forum, but for now I'll molest the devs in Optimus 2x-Thread
Goodbye!!!
Bye man
i got my HTC One V a few months ago. just gave my GT540 away to charity (screen was broken for the 4th time anyways , and couldnt get the motivation to fix it) still look in these forums from time to time, for nostalgia purposes i guess goodbye to you all and it's been a great 3 years
After a long time away i decided to stop in here for a while. The gt540 was my first android phone, in fact it was my first smart phone. Since then i have had galaxy s, galaxy s2, desire hd, hd2, iphone 4, 4s and 5.... In no particular order.
Learning how to root and install roms were all part of the fun and learning. It was great being part of this community.
And now i must say..... Goodbye

Goodbye if you have a little time give this old thread a short stroll
Farewell dear friends, I changed my phone with a clone dell'S3, I had fun with you and hope to meet again one day. With some of you there have been controversies, but I love you and I appreciate the work you have done for this phone, I will not forget! Thanks for everything .. bye!
Hello everyone !!!
As Our phone is getting older and older the world is moving on so is the smartphone world.
lets cut to the chase here.
Let this thread be a Thread where everyone can say a goodbye to one of the best sub-forums in XDA.
With truly redefining developers our phone have came a long way.
But now or some times later everyone will start falling apart.so at least here they can say Good bye and be thankful to those developers.
Let Me start this First
Thank you everyone in this lovely galaxy 3 forum.
sadly its time up for me here. but i'll be here of course to visit all the threads as i can't just forget getting into galaxy 3 forum.
Hi everyone, it's me gogozx.
I got this phone exactly 2 years ago.
I learned alot of stuff with my little Apollo.
I got Kyrillos ROM and i used it for pretty long time, and i always thought it's the best phone ever.
The phone itself was beautiful and it was pretty nice and fast.
I remember how i cried just to get it.
Then my dad bought it, it was my first Android powered device.
I loved every moment i had with it, i couldn't sleep without having it next to me.
Then, as i thought Kyrillos ROM is the only custom ROM, i went to XDA for second time in my life, just to fix my device, because i accidentally deleted system apps and i couldn't launch anything.
Then i found about something called CyanogenMod 7, and i decided to flash it,
I loved it, but i couldn't play games (CM7 alpha 8 was just released back then)
I was kinda sad that i had to go back to Kyrillos ROM, but after turning back it was 10 times smoother.
I was happy with my phone and i watched him getting new custom ROMs.
Later on i saw Mpics Ice Cream Sandwich ROM was out, bit i couldn't play games neither on that ROM but i was stunned by the new Android 4.0.
So i flashed back to Kyrillos and i could play my favorite game again l Gangstar West Coast Hustle.
I did so much stuff trying to make it work, and then i got hang of the Chainfire3D app, so it worked fine.
Then Android 4.1 was out, i remember i was waiting so long to watch it getting reviewed on strongest phone ever: Galaxy Nexus.
I adored that phone, with that huge display, it was kinda like king of phones.
So great developer named marcellusbe released CyanogenMod 10 for my cute little phone, i was so happy, and i thought to myself, why i can't be awesome like marcellusbe, kyrillos or pmanian.
I decided to go and learn everything about my phone and ROM developing, and after waiting so long and making perfect Jelly Bean ROM for my little monster i finally did it, then i decided to create myself XDA Account.
I got to that 10 posts so i could finally post my ROM, i was the happiest person when people liked my ROM, and i got so much thanked posts i even continued my ROM, and it was awesome, i tried everything to make it work as good as it can, and i made it.
Recently i got a new Google Edition Galaxy SIV, and i was so sad that i knew that i will forget this phone for couple of years, i even cried when i gave it to my sister.
So i told people from this forum that it's time for me to go away, i felt like I'm losing a good friend or something.
But anyways I'm trying now to fix the camera in my Jelly Bean ROM, i got it but the pictures couldn't be saved, but i think that i will probably give up on that, because i no longer have anything, i was so frustrated that i deleted every single Galaxy Apollo file from my PC.
Recently my best friend passed away, and my girlfriend moved away, so it's been pretty hard here.
So that's my goodbye, i hope you have read every sentence i wrote here.
By the way, I'm gonna miss you Apollo Legends (every single person on our g3 forum)

R.I.P. my g3 and good bye everyone. As my phone is broken I am moving to lg nexus4. I want to thank to all developers who worked to make our little g3 better, especially @marcellusbe, @hillbeast and @tom3q. I also wanna thank to: rkoby, kyrillos13, shwetanlal, sad96, jason-ex, twinky444, ajay.d96, pranjal, michal12 and many other developers and themers. And also thanks to whole g3 community which taught me about android and helped when needed. I will still follow this forum so I am not leaving
Sad to see so less activity in the G3 forum. I still have my little G3 with me.
I remember the days when I was just a beginner and actually joined XDA because of the G3. Yeah, those were the days of awesome activity.
I would like to say thank you to all the developers for our g3. I have moved on to the nexus 4 but I will not leave the forum. It has been a great ride, using it daily and running every possible custom rom, from such great developers, to whom I am so greatful. As I said, I will not leave the forum, but it is no longer my main phone. Thanks for such a great time
Good bye G3
Hi today is the last day with g3...i am gonna sell my g3, i dont wanna do that...but my g3 got several hardware problems, so that leave me no choice.
i am just here to say thank you for those who spend their precious time for g3 development...even though it is too old to use. i am very happy, because g3 is my first android device. and that is the reason so i can learn more about android...i always miss you.
I currently use a Galaxy s3 and I have been pretty happy with it but the thing is that i want to change my smartphone but right now things got a little tight.
I originally planned to get a galaxy note 3 but it will be too expensive and it will be for sure just released in telcel (Mexican carrier) but I hate them.
So I thought to get a nexus 4 now that it is 200 dollars but I could afford a note 2 so what would you recommend guys the nexus or the note 2?!?!
Its still worth the price undoubtedly
Sent from my GT-N7100 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Never been more happy with a phone than with the Note 2 I've had a lot of phones...
I think that the note 3 will be like the s4. Not big enough upgrade to justify the price.
1080p is nothing you need on a 5-6" screen. 3GB ram is not needed now. And i think that note 3 will just add more gimmick (i've turned everything from samsung off on my note 2).
The nexus is sweet but once you go for a Note, there is no way back
Totally worth for each penny you spend..it's too cheap now compared to launch price..note3 will be undoubtedly good than note2 but note2 is still a beast and has nice specs..
Believe me ,my 8 friends bought note2 after using my note2 for a day!!
But if u have money plant growing in ur backyard than wait for note3
Sent from my AweSoMe ☆♥Note2♥☆
Hmm, I would say now. Not because note 2 is not that good but because there is another option.
Buy the extra battery from Samsung, the 3100 mah and you will enjoy s3 more. Note 2 is just big screen and awesome battery. With my suggestion you will have a normal screen with awesome battery.
This is note even a question in my books.
Had (still have in my drawer) Note 1 and Are now a proud Note 2 owner!
And as many has said before, It just a great phone.
Specially with the great battery and lovely screen. And that it(some models) can easily be modded for induction charging or wireless charging as someone wrongly calls it. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1986016

I don't get this changing for changing-sake thing so many do, and if things are "a little tight" to boot, as you say they are, well, I better bite my tongue...
Anyway, my opinion: the Nexus 4 is a fragile, small non-expandable internal storage, non-removable battery useless P.O.S.
(If things weren't a little tight) I would definitely get a Note II, I don't know in Mexico but here in Italy there are now amazing deals on it.
Since we don't know Note III's specs yet and the Note III is, to me, the ONLY better alternative to the Note II among both the smartphones on the market today and those announced for the near future, the Note II is still the best smartphone in the world right now. Hands down. Far and away.
I have used all galaxy s series. I can honestly tell you that NOTe 2 is the best thing Samsung has ever made. In terms of performance, it beets everything. Just buy it over anything and you won't ever regret it. I believe it will still remain strong for another couple of years.
Yes it is still worth it. I think its't the best on the market at the moment with battery life. But not only the battery life is great, everything on this super phone is great.
this is the best time to get the note 2
prices are much lower, great exchange deals in some places
sds problem dealt with, saner chips coming now, efs hurdle under the belt
forum has all solutions worked out, 4.3 is getting better by the day,
learning my android on me note 2....
i think i might keep this device and not use it for trading for my next
s4 screen is really enticing though, i just couldnt take my eyes off
ill wait for the prices to come down or a second hand piece some time later
Depends on what you want, both the note 2 and the nexus 4 have respectable hardware specs, however there are other issues present.
Note 2 pros: excellent battery, great screen for pretty much anything (watching movies, reading ebooks, etc), pressure sensitive stylus (must have for digital artists), expandable storage, multi-window (gimmick for some, must have for others).
Nexus 4 pros: fast updates on the os.
So if your gonna get a note 2 and whine about samsung never updating the software, go grab yourself a nexus 4 and enjoy the slick goodness of google updates (as well as the buggy versions), if you can live with outdated os, then grab a note 2 and see how awesome a phablet is!

I love my Note 2. It's the first Android device I ever used that was so good out of the box I did not feel like wasting my time with custom ROMS. If you can get a good price, by all means buy it.
I Switched to Nokia Lumia 925 and havnt looked back since !!
Lemme begin with telling you that I have been an Android veteran since last many yrs !!!
Galaxy S > Galaxy SII > HTC One X > Samsung Note 2 > Nokia Luma 925
I was a complete Flashoholic with all my Android devices. And i thought that was fun ! But the constant struggle to have a smoother rom, better battery, better memory management, Sammy vs CM vs MIUI etc etc etc was unsettling !
I am sure most of you can relate well.
But eventually i got fed up of searching for the iOS smoothness in Android.
I switched to Windows phone, specifically Nokia Lumia 925 and havnt been happier !
# U dont have to do any **** on this device to make it run like butter !!!
# Now the time i spend with my phone is quality, usefull time. That i enjoy ! Rather than looking for glitches here n there. Checking out the smoothness etc etc ----> TRUST ME U THINK U LOVE DOING THAT ??? TRY THIS. ITS A LOT MORE FULFILLING.
# Apps ---> no apps ?? are u kidding me ? 6Tag for instagram is better than the orignial on iOS and Android !! YouTube app "myTube" is lightyears ahead of original google app !! IN EVERY DEPARTMENT !! Let me put this clearly, most of the Improtant apps that we use. Its there !! dont go on numbers, go on quality !!!
Talking about Quality... Just go and check out "NDTV"(indian news app) app on both android and WP. SEE THE DIFFERENCE. Android is like a honda. WP is a freaking BENTLEY !!! The finish, the quality, the lay out !!! Pure eyecandy ! This is seen in several/most of the apps on these platforms. And yes no issues with GMAIL n Contacts with google. They all sync well with inbuilt apps.
I am not trying to sell WP here. All i am saying if your spending so much on such high end devices, u might as well want peace of mind and quality with it !
I am finally SATISFIED with my device. I was thinking ill miss flashing roms and all. But i was wrong.
PS: When i used a friends WP for a few mins several weeks back, i dint like it. But now a thought of Android scares me !
At the end, its your choice ! Best of luck !

You lost all credibility after that.
I don't understand why you felt the need to post your "Goodbye" in this thread. But cya!
My advice is to wait until you can afford a Note 3, or wait for the next nexus.
What's wrong with the S3 you have anyways?
I don't see the point of of getting a Note 2 when you have an S3. The experience is largely the same on these two devices, other than the s pen and bigger screen and battery on the Note.

Haha, ofcourse, enjoy your Beer, i switched to Whiskey. And why i posted my "GoodBye" msg here ? Because few weeks back i felt the same way as you guys are right now. Have had a million debates with friends and online where i bashed both iOS and WP for Android. But now that all this has changed, so dramatically. I thought I should tell.
Its not binding, dont like it??? move on to the next post.... Relax ! Want a Beer ??
I finally got some work (hard time here in Italy) and the Nexus 5 shipped today...
Thanks everybody for the huge effort in making ROMs and stuff. I've appreciated very much your effort and I respect you very much even if the device is quite outdated and even CM10.2 stable sucks quite a bit, at least on my i9023. I have few things but it's pretty unusable... I've give up looking for a smooth ROM, maybe I'll get it back to Android 4.1.2 and realize that that's the software limit for this phone or something like that.
Anyways it has been a good ride here with you folks... I've posted few things and read a lot and, again, thanks a lot for your effort... sounds to me you're pretty amazing dedicated guys.. luv u
You should have tried CM11: it feels like a brand new phone!
Thanks to KitKat I decided not to upgrade, at least for another year.
Btw have fun with your new toy! Ciao

Thanks man
I've updated to CM11 17-12-2013 nightly and yes, for now it feels way better I was planning to put it back to 4.1.2 to use it as second phone or something but this seems to be good at least
...today is the day, I should receive the N5 in hours/minutes
im not updating to cm11 yet, ill wait for a stable release
Hesitating with the NS upgrade...
Hi,
How does the N5 feel after the good ol' NS ? I'm tempted to upgrade to the N5 too but it's a very big phone, didn't it feel too big compared to your NS ? What is the best improvement in everyday use in your opinion ?
I hesitate with the HTC One Mini, I like the design and Sense 5, but it won't get far in terms of upgrades, it doesn't even have a official CM11 port yet... The Galaxy S4 Mini would be great if it was better looking and without TouchWiz which I find very ugly... I love the NS because I was able to keep it up to date untill today, it might be desappointing to leave the Nexus line...
Any advice ? Thanks !
Maybe I'll stick with the NS for a little more, with CM11 Kitkat rom it's more up to date than both HTC One Mini and S4 Mini ! It does a pretty good job for everyday use and I enjoy the last android version !
I'm going for the lg g2... but only when it's £199! Probably a fair few years before it hits that price.
