Happenin' guys howz tricks?
I'm not on here as often as i would like (when i briefly had both my O2 XDA aka HTC Universal and my Nexus One) however it is a great forum.
Not long changed from a Samsung Galaxy S 16gb model to the HTC Desire HD and my god what a world of difference - Sense UI is awesome (damn sight better than TouchWiz IMO)
Absolutely lovin' it!!
Just thought i'd say hi and praise an awesome phone
And thats from stock..wait till you do a custom rom and oc kernel...then it really is amazing.

I've been amazed in general regarding the various rooting, kernels, ROMs etc for Android however i would much rather have a secondary phone precisely for the sole reason of mucking around with the software
I may get a second phone to learn about it because i reckon it would be something cool to learn... I may even use that HTC Kitchen thingy on the forum
It is amazing, coming my self from a sgs where i needed to flash in order to get froyo and to get proper lag fix coming to the dhd is a nice breath of fresh air!
ATM i don't feel the need of flashing roms unless there was a good compelling reason, all the bugs that I've read here , i simply don't have.
I however love launcher pro so using that instrad of sense ui, also just managed to unlock my device which is great too.
Can't beat custom roms and kernels...I'm getting..
Quadrant . 3001
Linpack . 52.149
Neocore . 58.7

Hi guys, I found this thread, they can do this for the HTC Droid Icredible. They have options to boot up to different ROMs. It is awesome!

It would expect it to be very useful for rom testers. It be very nice if you can use it to test an update for a rom. If it can just mount any of CMW's backups, Oh that would be awesome and very useful.
Most likely not.
Sorry to say, but this is almost impossible for Galaxy S phones, it all depends on space in the rom partition of the phone. The Galaxy S phones only have enough for 1 rom.

This guy managed to do a dual boot at least on the Sprint Galaxy S Epic though which has much less internal storage AFAIK than the Captivate / Vibrant. Internal storage may not be an issue. It doesn't allow for switching between Eclair, Froyo, Gingerbread though so forget that idea if you were hoping for that.

Hello all. Since my Galaxy 3 had a little accident (it span in the washing machine for about 5 minutes) I'm going to say you guys farewell. I already snapped a SGS for a good price (180€), so I'll be moving to It's community. I'd like to thank you all for giving your support and remaining strong in the SG3 community. I thank every developer there has ever been sharing his time with us by creating their own ROMs or fixes, but my special thanks go to:
- The Dark Lestat for his awesome kitchen ROM
- dharamg3 for making awesome, simple, optimized stock ROMs
- Kyrillos for also making an awesome custom ROM and giving superb support
- Our kernel developers. Mainly fugumod\CM7 porter\developer marcellusbe. And other's whose name I can't remember now
- FadeFX, gsam101, etc.
- Haree for his awesome moderating.
- Jazux for.. eh.. well being a Finn, mostly.
- Apollo for his stuff and especially for the now old but awesome sdcard partitioning thingy. It was probably the first customized thing I used.
And last but not least, I thank Samsung for making this awesome budget phone, although you weren't the greatest in terms of supporting.
A kernel developer is like a movie writer - the director (ROM maker) gets most of the credit.
Once again, thank you all for keeping this community alive, and keep the android and SG3 flag high. I will try to visit these forums at times to check out how you're doing. Also I'll try to give out some donations for certain guys, mostly whose ROM's I've used. Don't expect big sums, though.
May we meet again
Enjoy your SGS mate.

Hi all,
I wanted to ask you wether you want to have the next release ported from Nexus S or from the Galaxy Nexus.
If I use the Galaxy Nexus Rom we'll get the touch buttons on the display, with NS rom we won't have them. Your decision.

no, I don't need it, I want to have a decision from the users if I should port the gnex rom (then it has buttons included) or the NS rom (then it hasn't onscreen buttons included). But I want to find out, which one the users want to have.

Just out of curiosity, what other differences would there be? I don't know much about rom porting but wouldn't it be more difficult to port from galaxy nexus because of the huge difference in screen resolution?

Nexus S is more suitable for X10 i guess, so i'll choose the NS
(btw did you find a fix for DeepSleep? that would pretty mech decide whether we choose ICS as our daily rom)
thanks

I don't know anything about porting gingerbread. I have found a very simple tutorial for MIUI V4 porting, and currently I have running the Gnex version on my X10, ported with that way. Only thing I have recognized yet, is that sometimes the systemUI has fc'ed when I pressed the taskmanager button imidietly after the back button But don't know if it comes from the Gnex version on X10, or that happens also on Gnex itself.
P.S: I personally like the onscreenbuttons

Yes, the hardware from NS is more identical to X10's as the Gnex one, but it works anyways. The question was if you want to have onscreenbuttons, not which rom is more suitable for X10
And the deep sleep, J said he'll look into it, but I can't really do anything there. I have to wait for J to fix it.
L
Make just a nexus s rom with optional the galaxy nexus button flashable zip or make galaxy nexus and make a optionale remove zip some people doesn't like the buttons
Nexus S
The reason is that I don't want any buttons or anything eating up the display of my X10i
Ok guys, I have spent a little bit of my expensive time into a solution which is for everyone the best
I'm uploading right now the new version and make a last test, then you'll see.

So.... today i dropped my phone (htc desire HD) and smashed the screen
and it really annoyed me for such a stupid mistake so i decided to cheer myself up and get another t mobile line out.
worst thing is my contract runs out in august so i only had a few months to wait.
but anyway.... i took the 2nd line and choose the galaxy note.
few questions.....
what will this start on? will it be 4.0.4 or will it be 3.2 something or other?
if its the 3.2 how hard is it for me to get straight onto 4.0.4?
will i need to root it?
I'm based in london, UK for anyone that might need to know.
note don't run on 3.x, most likely you will get a 2.3 phone. 4.03 was released few days ago in germany.
enjoy the wiki while you are waiting for the phone.

i cant believe im more angry with myself that i dropped my htc desire hd than i am happy that im getting the note.
im gonna have to just pay the remaining months line rental for a phone that will be stuck in the bedroom draw

reason i went for note was....
I have a phone and a tablet, when im out i use my phone (htc desire HD)
indoors i use my tablet, so i thought i'd get something that can do what my tablet does, thats why i chose the note.
I do like the look of the s3, BUT... i want a bigger screen and the note is perfect for what im after.
all i want now is a link to where i can get this 4.0 from? as once the note arrives to me on tuesday, i really dont want the 2.3 crap that comes on it.
So can anyone guide me to the right thread/place ect, so i can update my new galaxy note to 4.0 ???

Nope, running CyanogenMod9 with no problems at all! Gotta be careful though, be sure to read the warning sticky before doing any flashing. It is a bit of reading, but it can very well prevent you from hardbricking/superbricking your shiny new Note.

So where do I get this PC Odin and also the German ics?
And is there any downside to doing this? Like problems with the ics ?

You can, but the official ICS update contains an unsafe kernel that has already claimed Notes (don't know the details, but it's related to doing stuff in recovery). I wouldn't recommend official ICS if you plan on rooting/flashing.
