[Q] windows 8 not detecting nexus as storage device - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi
As in the topic .my laptop is not showing nexus 4 as media storage (MTP/ptp) I can access everything via fastboot/adb but can't transfer files like I would normally do with any other device .
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda premium

I'm thinking try windows update? Maybe the device manager? Or maybe install the drivers for this phone? Try a different USB port?
Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 2

I have a Windows 7 PC that it just wont work on but works on another 7 PC and an 8. I have googled MTP devices not mounting and have never seen a solution, just suggestions that I and other people have already tried.
I tried drivers, usb cables, ports, and all the toggles in the settings, it just doesnt work.

Well phone is detecting that its connected via USB as media storage there are no drivers missing ...all ports are the same . I've also tried different USB cables

Edit:
Ive unistalled all USB drivers from Device Manager, then Ive managed to reinstall them. Phone was by default on MTP, so ive changed it to PTP and it showed up on my computer, when changed back to MTP PC didnt detect itAnd after Ive tried to go back to PTP that disappeard as well

I had the same problem on Windows 8. I had to remove the Google USB drivers before it would show up again.

Thanks dude, a quick scrubbing of hidden devices and I was back in business

Working
I've found that plugging in the device and then going to device management, uninstall the driver, take out the phone from usb, Reinsert it and then windows 8 should reinstall the driver and it should be working. This worked for me anyways, hope it helps.

thx man - i forgot about hidden devices and had this mtp problem on both my n4 and n7 devices. now finally i have acces to my devices

What do I do when there is no Device Manager entry for the Nexus 4 not even hidden? I have this problem both on my desktop and my labtop after the 4.3 update. I also tried uninstalling all USB entries and hidden storage volumes. But from my understanding MTP doesn't need a driver because it's integrated into Windows 8 somehow.

Yes integrated .. but i have not updated to 4.3 so cant say...

Thanks to all those that mentioned the "hidden devices" uninstall! I had this problem with a Samsung Nexus S 4G device, on a Windows 8 laptop. For the Windows 7 laptops at my house, the windows explorer pops open automatically after choosing to turn on USB mass storage, but this didn't happen on the Windows 8 laptop. I am actually on Windows 8.1, and this thread was what finally helped me!
I installed the latest Samsung drivers on my Windows 8 or 8.1 computer (source: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2038555). Still, I couldn't get a window to pop up on my Windows 8 laptop, to copy files to my phone's SD card.
Finally, after seeing this thread, I clicked on the "Open Devices and Printers", located in the notification area (bottom right of desktop), at that icon for "Safely Remove Hardware" option. In the "Devices and Printers" window, I saw that my phone/device was listed as a hidden device on there. I then clicked on my device/phone to uninstall the driver, also clicking on "Delete device driver software" before clicking ok. After unplugging my phone, then plugging it back in, Windows downloaded its own drivers, and a window popped open automatically, showing the contents of my phone's SD card. I'm finally able to easily copy files onto my phone from my Windows 8.1 laptop! THANKS AGAIN!

I solved my problem at this way. Maybe it will help.

5- Seleccionar controlador "MTP usb device"
Funciona para mi.
¡Suerte!

In English
1- enabled device manager view hidden devices.
2 connected by usb nexus in the MTP option
3 Select android device> ACER ADB Interface ( or that asset in this group) . contextual menu and select " Update Driver Software " .
4 Select " search for driver software on your computer" > " Choose from a list of device drivers on my computer" .
5- Select driver "MTP usb device"
This worked for me, using windows 8, also had the ACER ADB issue.

How Root the NEW U8800-51

Hi, for the NEW model U8800-51, the version of SuperOneClickv2.1.1 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=803682) works perfectly. Just Root and reboot the phone.
The old root method don't worked for me (pink screen and copy the IMG file), because this a different model (Huawei change the internal chip set (Broadcom bcm4329), and now the phone has Radio).
BTW, if you want BACKUP your system (like Chile Entel PCS Rom), use this Recovery IMG: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1229326. And now, to wait a Gingerbread ROM for this model.
i was unable to download that cwm. also i couldn't use that version of soc. i used the most recent version but it left my system read only. any suggestions?
I have a question, I read in other forum that I need to uninstall the "Ideos" drivers previously and then install another ones before to root with SuperOneClick for the u8800-51. Is that true?

Thanks but I have a problem to root my entel phone. OK, this is what I did:
1. Dismount SD Card
2. Menu > Settings > Aplications > Development > USB Debugging ON
3. Connect microUSB cable to laptop
4. Extract files from SuperOneClickv2.1.1-ShortFuse.zip (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=803682)
5. Open SuperOneClick as admin
6. Click on Root
7. Suddenly stop at *waiting for device* after *daemon started successfully* and the app doesn't react :S
What should I do?
You have to install the right drivers for ADB interface, they're in the "CD drive" that's open when you plug the usb in, i didn't unmounted the sdcard when i rooted my u8800-51, alternate you can previously uninstall the ideos drivers in device manager before you install the correct drivers.

Yes. I realized that. I got two folders: "adb_driver" and "usbnet_driver_win2k_xp". But how I can install the new drives? Just replacing folders from "CD drive" into the phone or just by Device Manager?
I have to say as well that the device manager folder has a direct access to huawei support website and there are many stuff to download. I supposed that I have to download PC Client right?
Nope, The client is useless, first in device manager click in the huawei driver (if i remember well is adb composite device or interface, or something like that) and right click on it, then update driver, and point to the "cd" folder, adb_driver
Remember to put the phone in development mode, in config apps

Hipstreet W7 Windows 8.1 Tablet Help! Recovery Image?

I have a Hipstreet W7 tablet (Windows 8.1), the model number is HS-7DTB34-16GB and it's all messed up. Apparently a clean install of Windows was a bad idea because Hipstreet doesn't provide drivers for their devices on their website or through customer support. Admittedly this is completely my fault but I think maybe one of you guys can help me... Does anyone else own this tablet, and if so, would anyone be willing to make a recovery image I can restore to? Pretty please? I've been struggling with this stupid thing since almost the day I bought it. I just want it to work again. If anyone has a system restore point or recovery image I can restore to I would be so grateful. Thanks so much for any help anyone may be able to provide.
-Alex
UPDATE
So the HP Stream 7 Tablet has almost identical drivers. They all install very nicely and make my Hipstreet W7 run almost perfectly.
Those drivers can be found right here.
I highly recommend the first two things you install (in this order) are the Intel Chipset Driver, and Trusted Engine driver. Both are available from that link.
These two drivers seem to wake up/discover a bunch of hidden/inactivated 'devices' in the device manager list. It also give you your battery meter back and starts treating your tablet like a tablet again.
If you don't do these two first the other drivers from the HP Stream 7 page probably wont install correctly..
Funny enough one of the drivers from the HP Stream 7 page is the Goodix Touch Driver, but that alone isn't enough to get your touchscreen to work. (I've tried with both MSSL and GOODIX active in the BIOS). We also need something known as the 'KMDF HID Minidriver for Touch I2C Device'. I'm pretty sure this is the driver that is keeping all of our touch screens broken. I can't seem to find a Windows version anywhere and jleech1990's driver back up INCLUDES it but has no idea what to do with it. After installing the rest of the HP Stream 7 drivers there aren't any unknown devices left so I'm not sure where this goes without an executable package to install it with so this is where I'm stuck. I hope my update helps somebody get a little further. I put a few hours into this the past couple days.
That's all I got guys, I'll keep an eye on this thread for the next week or so...
check your pm!
ANy news on the driver?
You guys have any tips or a procedure or two on how to do a clean install? A friend of mine mangled up his Hipstreet in an attempt to get around storage limitations, so any tips would be appreciated.
Ok, so mine have sorted itself out somehow - I have given up and was trying to use it with mouse and keyboard. I have used the ineternal update of windows and suddenly the toudhscreen came back to life
so here is what i did in case anyone is stuck BUT WARNING I have read thet this doesnt always work so your millage might vary... I think there might be regional differences...
anyway. I bought y hipstreet of ebay in the UK. I assume its a UK version
I have backed up reocvery disk to usb drive and foolishly tried to delete the images partition which broke my OS and it wont boot
I have downloaded from a torrent the windows with bing image (X19-57135_SW_DVD9_NTRL_Win_with_Bing_8.1_32BIT_Eng_Intl_OEM.img) and using rufus made a usb disk of it
using the tablet with a usb hub i have booted the tablet with into the USB stick (pressing DEL during boot takes you to BIOS and choosing boot device just like on any windows PC)
I have installed windows from the disk, deleting all partitions and letting windows re-partition the internal drive.
That went smoothly.
Next installed driveres from HP as per post 2 in this thread. after that I had one unidentified device in the device manager and i have used update driver option and directed it to the Backed up drivers from post 2 which i have download and unpacked ( jleech1990's driver back - link in post 2) - It updated the driver, showed it as KMDF HID Minidriver but gave me an error in device manager and the touchscreen did not work.
At that point I gave up and just got windows to do its updates and suddenly it all worked - I guess one of the updates sorted it out but have no idea
Also, I am not sure how the activation works on this but once I had internet working windows showed as activated... I know others had issues re activation...

Thanks dude, I'll keep that in mind in case my friend asks me to do a repair on his Hipstreet.
Cannot even get mine to boot from USB... no idea why. I've tried using Rufus and the Microsoft Media Creation Tool....
It's a brick now... lol. Oh well.

The hipstreet W7 has a hidden sector in its small drive. In that hidden sector are the restore to factory settings files. If your W7 unit becomes corrupted, look at the edge with the USB receptacle for a tiny hole labeled reset. Insert a thin paper clip and press. The unit will boot just like it was first booted when it was taken out of the box. Anything that was added will be gone. Keep it plugged in because it could take a couple of hours to reinstall everything.

Any chance you guys have got a reset your password tool for local users? daughters changed her password and forgot it, and i cant find a usable solution anywhere, as i cant seem to get into the bios to change the boot settings.
How frustrating!! I have a Hipstreet W8 pro tablet and the hdmi wasn't working - long story short I decided to do a factory reset. Bad idea - I left it plugged it as recommended and now it's not doing anything at all - it won't turn off or turn on. There's just a faintly lit screen when I press the power button - I've tried the power & the volume buttons but nothing is working. I tried calling Hipstreet but the number is not in service. I also checked all over the tablet and there is no small hole to reset. Help please!! EDIT: Well I don't know what I did but I kept pushing buttons and it came on saying it was loading windows!! Hopefully this works!!
compatible drivers pack
i found this driver pack, i think is the same motherboard of hipstreet w8
w w w . mvapple. com/ 117 ?category=567688
or direct download for windows 8.1

Driver booster 6 would also work nicely. no need to dig for drivers.

GT-I9505 and Win 8.1 RTM

Hi guy, I wrote from Italy
I've bought an used S4 (Official Rom LP 5.0.1), and and I had problems with pc connection.
Since I connect phone usb cable to my pc with Windows 8.1 RTM, immediatly I've had problems because the OS identyfied with its folder the phone and after some second the phone hiddens without I did nothing. Infact while I tried to copy my data in internal storage the copy was interrupted.
Driver Samsung (1.5.51) are installed. Infact in download mode it's recognized correctly and Odin detect usb port.
Another info after rooted and in recovery (cwm or twrp) I try to mount internal storage but it is impossible to select and nothing happens.
Now with SlimLp 5.1.1 when the phone is connect to pc Led is green but OS doesn't recognize it.
Thanks
This isn't a problem with the S4, but with Windows 8.1. I don't remember how or if I solved it on my XPS 18 tablet.

No me neither, but on my Macbook the file transfer sucks. That's why I use Airdroid. It's even faster for transfering then a wired connection.

MT6735 Smart Watch- Stock Rom download

Friends; I got the Abardeen V116 intelligent watch from China.
MT6735 processor, 512 mb ram 4 gb memory features such as.
However, the device is entirely in Chinese. I got English stock software from company. They sent a file and driver files to the SP Flash Tool, indicating that they can be installed.
However, how much did he try; In the off state, when I plugged the device into a computer, I could not show it to the computer.
I installed all the MTK Drivers. I even removed all USB drives in the system and installed only the MTK drivers. When I look through the device manager; There is an exclamation point on all of them. I update all the drivers manually but it does not change again.
But unfortunately, I open the SP Flash Tool, show the scatter file, select Firmware Upgrade option, click Download and install the Smart off clock on the computer but there is no movement.
My Computer - Manage - Device Manager does not move, so the exclamation point on the MTK PreLoader USB VCOM remains the same.
When the device was powered on, I tried to plug in the computer and install it, but it did not happen again.
In the open state; When I plug it into the computer, it loads the driver, it can see the programs in the clock.
Could you please HELP?
How do I upload this stock rom?

Unbrick guide for Lenovo YT3-850F (Hardbrick Solution)

A bit of background: I got the tablet a day ago and successfully rooted and installed TWRP..... and then went ahead and installed the wrong firmware update and my device was totally useless. NO DISPLAY, NO RESPONSE WHEN THE POWER BUTTON OR ANY OTHER BUTTON WAS PRESSED. At first the tab didn't even get recognized as even a device by the PC. So all the signs of a total HARDBRICK
Caution: Before performing this keep your device connected to the wall for about 2 hours so that the battery charges a bit.
Now for the solution:
DOWNLOAD ALL FOLDERS FROM THE MEGA.nz LINK BEFORE PROCEEDING.
Step:1: Install all (.inf) files from the Drivers folder. (If any of the drivers don't install, then disable driver signature re-enforcement in Windows)
Step:2: Install QPST from QFIL folder.
Step:4: Navigate to C:\Program Files x86\Qualcomm\QPST\bin\ and open the program QFIL.exe
Step:5: Goto Control Panel and open Device Manager and expand the Ports tab and keep an eye on it.
Step:6: Make sure device is off by holding down the power key for about 10 seconds. While holding down vol up and down keys connect the USB cable to the tab and the PC and wait till the PC makes a device connection sound or the tablet pops up in Ports tab of Device Manager.
Step:7: Make sure the new port that pops up is a HS-USB QDloader 9008 (port X) Make note of the port number "X".
Step:8: The new port should also appear on top QFIL program. (make sure the port number matches)
Step:9: Select Flat Build; Press Browse on Programmer Path and point towards "prog_emmc_firehose_8909_ddr.mbn" in Firmware folder ; Press and point Load XML to "rawprogram0.xml" and then "patch0.xml".
Step:10: Finally take a deep breath and and press Download and keep an eye on the status area and wait for it to say "Successful flash" (or sth like that I forgot... lol) The flash should take about 5 minutes or so.
Step:11: Disconnect the USB port and then reconnect wait a while the screen should light up. Wait a few minutes and then press and hold the power button till the tab boots up.
And there you have it.
