I had my rooted Nook Simple Touch froze on me.
Series of events:
1) I thought it needed to be charged
-So I charged it
-Still Frozen but would restart when I plugged it back in
2) I thought the root had cause something so I reformatted it using: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1289233
-Still Frozen when unplugged and restart on being replugged in
3) Reformatted again for good measure then rooted using: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1343143
-Still frozen
4) Called B&N tech Support: No help, cycle nook, turn off, cycle nook, turn off, no change, said to let it power down to 20% and that you should only charge for 3-4 hours and that you can over charge the unit??????, thanks anyways.
5) Used Ifixit.com teardown to see if there was something going on inside: http://www.ifixit.com/Teardown/Nook+Simple+Touch+with+GlowLight+Teardown/9301/1
-Took off back, upplugged battery
-Found nothing loose or broken inside
-Found a port for a cell antenna, interesting
-Unplugged the screen from the motherboard
-Put it back together
-TADA!! it works again. I think that hard resetting the battery did the trick but also voided any warranty I had. (which was none since it is over 1 year old.
I searched for a resolution to this problem everywhere and could not find one so I am putting one here. Thank you for your time.

Sorry you didn't see this, and I'm glad to see the fix being bumped - this was the thread with the fix before you needed to do the work -- but congrats on a successful self-repair and clear documentation.

Phone never sleeps

Help me please.
Until today everything was fine, than, I can't put the phone to sleep.
When I press the end key it comes black and after 1 second turns on again at the lockscreen. I can't put it into sleep mode with the screen off.
Neither in battery or plugged in charger.
I dis a hard reset, installed new ROM (Artemis) and new radio but nothing can solve the problem.
Do someone know what's happening ?
Sorry about my english.
Thank you all.
Additional information
When i conect and disconect the power cable it returns to normal, everything ok until next boot. If i reboot, the problems begins again.
Probably the last option but a hard reset will likely cure it.

No, after the hard reset nothing was installed.
The problem still exists even when I remove the sim and the SD.
But when I conect the power cabe (for a second) evererything is back to normal.
sounds like a hardware problem then.

PiPo M9 drop dead =<

Hey!
I had a PiPo M9 (WiFi) now for about 2-3 weeks and everything worked perfectly.
No problems with rooting and installing ROMS ( i fixed that 2-3 days after i bought it)
I was playing some angry birds yesterday, and all of sudden i had VERY low battery, i put it on charge even if i recently took it from it.
Then i noticed that the DC-connection in my tablet is "loose" , i needed to have the cable in a specific position for make it charge.
Battery was fully charged but it said i had about 16 minutes left, and in 1 minute it dropped to 43% and only had 2 minutes of the battery left...
I tried to calibrate the battery after it was fully charged (i let it charge for almost 10 hours) but there was no difference...
Anyways... i played some games later on and forgot about the position of the cable so the tablet died...It had a bootloop about 6 times and i was trying to put the cable correct for make it charge but i failed and the tablet died.
Now it doesnt react at all, and unfortunally i don't know what the EXACTLY position is for the cable so i have been trying around but without success...
When i am connecting the USB to the computer it doens't react either, and i tried to push in RESET while holding the other buttoms as well, without success...
I Don't know what to do , and i don't know what is wrong?
I opened up my tablet carefully to see if i could see the problem but it is hard to do anything without knowledge about it....
I know that it has something to do with the DC-connection but i can also imagine that it has something to do with the batteries..
If i need to change the batteries , what should i buy? And how should i do? I need a guide, walkthrough ,... i have been googling around , also on youtube, without any luck...
Anyone out there who can help me?
I am kinda desperate.. :/
I solded and fixed the DC-contact, it was loose, but there is a component missing and i am unsure what component it is, so i have a picture and hope someone can help me out....
I'm a little unsure of what component that is missing, but it is backside off the mainboard, just below the dc connection.

Nexus 7 Died

I've seen this somewhat similar issue posted a few times but just wondering how many other people are experiencing it. My Nexus 7 just randomly died with the battery plummeting.
I had an issue with my first Nexus 7 (2013) unit that arrived DOA. Holding the power button does nothing but flash the LED. Today, I got home and it did the same thing with my new unit despite having worked for the past 2 weeks. I read some posts here that suggested to plug it in and hold the power button for 30+ seconds. I did that and it seemed to do the trick after letting it charge a while. When I checked the battery history, I saw this:

Why would it do this? The battery instantly died at that one exact moment...

Left completely alone long enough, the battery level doesn't update accordingly, this is somewhat an issue on the N4 as well. I think what you're seeing here is that the battery level, pre crash, is lying to you, although this looks like a very extreme case. Just a guess with the info at hand.
You might be right. I'll try doing a factory reset to clear out the battery stats maybe... (I consciously chose not to root this device)

I wouldn't bother, it does get better with time, at least in the case of the N4. It was a HUGE annoyance for me when I first got the phone, over time the issue became less obvious. The battery stats only contain your per charge usage, so that won't "fix" it.

S7 Edge freeze/crash

Hi everyone.
I am having a big problem with my phone, and since I messed up my warranty by rooting my phone, I am gonna try to find help here, and I really hope someone knows how to fix this issue.
So I got my S7 Edge this summer straight out of the box and it was working perfect. A couple of months after that it started freezing and restarting once every week or so, but I didnt think much of it. Slowly it was doing that more and more, until the point where the screen would freeze and the phone would restart 5 times a day. Shortly after it got stuck in a bootloop. I went to the store I bought it from but since a had a small scratch on the screen they wouldnt repair it without me paying for the screen change. Since it was a lot of money I tried to repair my phone at home by rooting my phone and installing a stock firmware. That didnt work so I installed a custom rom, that worked for a day but then it got back in the bootloop. Now I cant even be in TWRP without it freezing and restarting. My question to you guys is, has anyone had this issue (I hope not because its the worst) and is there any chance I could fix this myself?
I found this picture on google that resembles how my phone looks when it freezes/crashes. It gets these small pixel on the screen, not on the whole screen like in this picture, just on parts of the screen and on different parts everytime.

I have exactly the same problem. I think is somehow power related. Happens more frequently when phone is plugged in or when there's an increase in power consumption...
Is there a fix for it? I am having the same problem.
I found out that is the EMMC and the only fix is motherboard replacement... SAD

I guess you are right since the crashes were more frequent when I had a memory card in the slot. I thought that maybe my memory card was incompatible. But the eMMC seems to be the problem

Nexus 6p had an unexpected short swim in the sea... trying to revive it :(

Hi all!
I'm writing here with deep hope that someone can help me somehow...
I got my 6p popped in the sea a month ago just as far s the camera glass goes. I've turned it off immediately, but because I was in a small place, didn't manage to find some phone shop or any way to open it and dismantle the battery. I did try to turned it on (stupid me) later on that day and after that left if for 2 days to dry.
My hopes rose when it did give some kind of a "life signal" when on charger but that's as far as I got...
So, when I put it on charger I get the Battery animation icon with 50% showing on the bottom, after few secs it shows 0%. Also, while on charger it just bootloops... can't get pass the Android boot animation, it just restarts. However, I can get to recovery (TWRP) and browse through it (make backups etc) while on charger it doesn't restart. The thing is that it only works with wall charger, I can't get to recovery when connected to computer via USB (so I can't even get that backup or transfer files from the phone ).
I've went to two phone repair shops in my town, but both said that it's dead. The thing is I'm not sure that they even tried with new battery, because this is a rare phone in my country and they probably don't even have one to try...
Anyway, I've ordered new battery, but I'm afraid if that'll help... I would like, at least to connect it somehow to my computer and try to transfer files and maybe do some factory resting or loading an image...
I have some pics from one of the repair shops, so I hope someone could help me determine if there is any help with it?
Thanks in advance!!!
Cheers,
Djape
