[Q] What if I install official 8000 ROM on 8005? - Galaxy Note 10.1 General

Since n8005 doesnt have voice call feature, is this a hardware or software difference? What if I install n8000 ROM on top of it can this harm my tablet?

It's normal, no stress... The backup is ok !!!
but the file written is only 0KB....
it seems the rom still not backup to the pc yet..
I had the same problem after I got a XdaII mini traditional chinese version from my friend yesterday.
Besides, the version is still 1.03.06CHT, exactly the same as the chinese version of dopod. None of improvement you can find in this version especailly the voice quality, voice of speakerphone is still low, lower voice when use headphone to handle telephone conversation etc.
Disappoint ...............

HTC Footprints; possible?

Hi everyone,
I was wondering if the chefs could put the HTC Footprints into their roms?
I've noticed it that Footprint is only available on the newest HTC Cruise.
Altough most chefs uses the ROMS from Diamond2 (now) which doesn't have Footprints, do you think it would be possible to implement it into D2 Rom?
PS: i'm not sure to put it into the ROM dev-section, sorry if it's in the wrong section.

I think he meant "Footprints", and it's a lot more feature than R3A camera apps that just has geo-tagging.
I had Footprints built-in in my 2.x and 3.x series.

Hi all,
i'm new in Xperia world and this forum has been very helpfull for me...
I got manila TFL3D installed on my X1.
I tried to install footprint (not very clever, actually) without HD camera installed.
That does not work at all but the problem is not here : i've lost the text in a menu when i open a picture in TFL3D : the options/actions menu at bottom right is empty.
It opens the menu, i can click an action but i can't see the text ! (hard to select an anction without reading anything...)
I uninstalled footprint but it did not come back.... (and yes i've soft reset)
What can I do ? Except uninstall/reinstall manila ?
Thanks,
(sorry for my english i'm French...)
I've cabbed footprints. it's on the forum, you need a rom with one of the HTC cameras in it..

You referring to this? Nothing seems to happen after I tap on 'Menu > New' though. Did a soft reset, copied the HtcCameraUtility.dll to my Windows folder and checked my registry settings, and even tried installing gtrab's R3A CAMERA but still doesn't work. Something else I missed out? Or does it only work on Touch-IT? Btw, I'm on stock R3A.

yup. i've only tried it on roms with a htc camera built in, so I've no idea if it will work with stock and a cab.
using that cab, you dont need to copy htccamerautility as a working one is included, but it would be best to install the htc camera first..
what you can check is that the camera.exe in windows is not the SE one.. The SE is a dummy file to trigger CameraRunner.exe
[edit]
I've just reread what you posted... the R3a camera WILL NOT work, it needs HTC CAMERA..

Is it just any HTC camera? Or only those for Rhodium/Topaz? And if convenient, could you point me to where I could find it? Tried searching but couldn't seem to find any for Rhodium/Topaz.
By the way, I saw you mention in another thread that you use both the SE and HTC camera. You mean that's possible?
Edit: Found 2 versions of the Topaz camera, but after installing, got the error message below when I tried running the 'HTC Camera' program that appeared:
'The file 'Camera' cannot be opened. Either it is not signed with a trusted certificate, or one of its components cannot be found. If the problem persists, try reinstalling or restoring the file.'
Edit2: Btw, I did try installing the rhodium MHub.cab and also checked the 3 registry entries but still no use.
And by the way, I suppose the Rhodium camera not working is also why I can't launch the camera from the Photos and Videos tab in TF3D (using Daran's TF3DB3).

Thanks for your answer.
I got a stock rom for the moment. Maybe i'll change it in a few weeks, with everything working ! (hopfully)
The reason the HTC camera doesn't work is that it needs lots of support files, It's just easier to use one cooked into a rom..
If you really want core stuff from HTC devices to work on the X1 then use a cooked rom.. It's simpler, more efficient and you know it'll work...

Can I assume that you used a cooked ROM (so as to have the HTC camera) and then separately installed the SE camera?
Anyway I've been contemplating switching to a cooked ROM for a while .Just worried that switching back to stock (for servicing purposes) would not be possible. Btw, can I assume Footprints will work on Touch-IT?

I believed both Itje and mine have BOTH camera apps built-in. And if you really dare to read previous post in this thread. I even have footprint built-in as well and you don't have to do anything any all

Ya. Saw your post about Footprints in your ROM. And uh, ya, I did kind of see a mention of restoring to stock ROM, just that still had some things I still wasn't too sure about it (like what 'stock radio' is and where to get it). But guess I'd probably just give it a try.

ROM 1.66 versus 1.48

Hi all,
The Dutch version of the 1.66 ROM has just been released and I would like to know what are the main differences between 1.48 and 1.66. Is it worth to upgrade and install everything again (a hell of a job).
Tnaks in advance, Kuzibri
I think the best thing for you would be reading through this forum... There are at least 10 threads that handle your "issue".
I know, I have done that for most of them, but I'm, of course, mainly interested in the findings of members that already used the leaked Dutch version. There seems to be differences in ROMS between countries.
The biggest changes are:
* SMS Bug fixed
* Lock Screen works now
* Proximity Sensor seems to work all the time now
* Device runs smoother
at least for me
thanks for your kind and fast reply.
The dutch version is out :O Thanks for telling, vriend
I would like to know if 1.66 is worth it or not as well. Talking about the Dutch version. Also a noob question: all your installed programs (games, tweaks, etc) will be gone right? Everything that is on your SD card will not get removed I assume? And will all programs work normal or do we have to wait for all the programs to get updated to roon on 1.66?
Would appriciate the help! Kind regards.
Games, Tweaks, etc will be deleted! SD is untouched..
Most/all of the programs work! There is an issue with the battery % indicator but theres already a fix for it!
Before you upgrade, backup your contacts, calender and other important stuff ( notes or whatever)

Thank you very much for this information. Will have to search for that battrty % fix because I use a custom notifications bar (the default one is ugly imo) which includes a nice 1% battery indicator.
So overall, it is good to go 1:66. Just going to have to start over after upgrading. Maybe a good thing so I can get rid of all the junk I dont use: a general cleening process

you're absolutely right by that. But the link is here:
http://www.htc.com/nl/supportdownloadlist.aspx?p_id=297&act=sd&cat=2
A bit weird though that this ROM update is not present on the general HD2 support site (where you normally can find all updates for the HD2), but that it is placed(you would almost say: is hidden) in the ROM update category.
Thanks... works like a charm!

maybe a radio change would help?
Which Radio would be better on this Stock rom? Does it hurt the device software?

Bluetooth on Hero

Hi everyone!
i have my Hero for several weeks now. but i still don't know how the bluetooth works? i can turn it on, search for devices and connect with them.
but i dont see how i can send over a file???
anyone knows how that works??

Well i guess this will be a bit bummer for you. You can connect a BT headset, BUT file transfer is not working
The only way to get it working is to root phone and use a custom rom that supports BT. (Vanillain?)

It should be said that this is a limitation of Android 1.5 - it doesn't support bluetooth file transfer. Whilst there are some attempts to solve this problem, it should go away entirely once we get the official Android 2.1 update as this has better bluetooth support.

Dave

It's not the sort of update that you'll ever find on the Market - it's a complete new version of the OS (Android 2.1).
Not every phone is getting OS upgrades, but HTC have announced that Hero will be getting 2.1 and currently evidence seems to suggest it will be released some time in March.
If you keep an eye on these forums, you'll know pretty much instantly when 2.1 for Hero is available.
Regards,
Dave

Custom ROM with small RAM-footprint

Hi all!
I really enjoy reading this great forum for quite some time. This time I'll start asking :
Since I like Igo8 a lot (esp. TTS), I was quite disappointed to see TTS not working on my NeoTouch official ROM 3.003EN, no Today-Plugins loaded and soft-reset (it is (was) working fine on my X900 and Ipaq214) though. AFAIK, it can be boiled down to insufficient fee RAM on WM6.5 devices. Indeed, I can pick a TTS voice from the Igo menu and actually hear it talking it's version text etc. but Igo crashes a few seconds later.
Is there any chance to brew a custom ROM with a significant lower RAM footprint compared to the official one?
I would suggest you first to try the 3.003b official ROM and then if it's something you don't like reflash to a cooked one..
