Hi, that's my first thread on XDA!
Anyway:
I have successfully rooted my phone, a while afterwards, my wifi stopped working (that's not the problem here, so don't help me with that please)
So I sent it to where a bought it from (a private shop, not international)
And they checked it and everything, they knew it was rooted, they said the spesific Wi-Fi problem isn't covered in warranty, but they didn't say that my warranty is void.
If so, in this special occasion, installing CWM will void my warranty?
Thanks!
My phone isn't from US or Europe. (I'm in Israel and it works fine)

CWM requires an unlocked bootloader, which in turn will void your warranty.

Yes, but I'm rooted, and my warranty (at least in this shop) is valid!
How did you root? There are methods that don't require unlocking your bootloader, if you used one of those then they probably did not void your warranty because flashing an sbf would completely get you back to stock. However, you cant relock the bootloader after it is unlocked. Unlocked boot loaders also are likely to brick when flashing sbf firmware.
So if you are already unlocked, flashing cwm shouldn't cause issues. If you are not, unlocking the boot loader to flash cwm will make Motorola see your device as intentionally damaged since their tools won't be able to work properly on it.
Edit: Sorry, I missed that you are not going through Motorola. If you want an answer you should probably ask the shop.

Revert it back to stock for a start means using Odin to flash the stock rom. Do you know what rom it was on when it was stock? Or did it have Bell Branding on it?

Good Luck
I would remove root, but as long as you didnt flash the phone you should be fine.
I say flash because the system has an internal flash counter, samsung can tell if you've been flashing your phone
what do u guys mean flash? and it did not have a bell branding
Flash means install a firmware or part of a firmware.
Rooting voids warranty so you need to remove root by flashing a stock rom .
Reset the custom rom counter with USB jig .

I had a similar problem, I'd rooted the phone and had the yellow warning triangle when turning the phone on.
So I flashed a stock rom (the original one that was installed when I bought the phone) using odin and this solved the problem, the warning triangle had gone, the phone was like new.
I too had to send one back for Warranty repair, it had been rooted and custom roms installed a number of times. I reset the counter using a USB jig (Download mode jig which resets the rom counter), and reinstalled the Stock Vodafone ROM. They did what they did and sent the phone back to me, no questions asked. If you have had custom roms on there rather than stock ones with non-stock kernels I would advise getting the jig.

I removed the Yellow triangle, is it still recommended for me to use the jig

I bought one off Ebay
Don't bother resetting Custom Binary counter!
I have done warranty replacement and was never asked a question why I had flashed custom ROM 7 times!
You just flash official ROM back and you should be good to go folks. Infact NOWHERE in Samsung's documentation it says you can't root or install custom ROM on the phone or it would void the warranty! Even when we get the warning while entering download mode, it never tells you that it will void the warranty!
So essentially there should be no worry for warranty claims even when you accidentally left custom ROM with root on the phone while doing warranty claims. Let me know if ANYONE out here had a different experience and I have NEVER seen claims getting rejected for these reasons!!!

Agreed! I got my screen replaced even i was on custom rom. They flashed the stock rom back thou
But i quess you can't do warranty claims if you take your bootlooping phone to repair centre caused by flashing custom roms.
I just got a nexus 7 and am thinking about rooting it. I know that unlocking the bootloader voids the warranty. If you flash a stock image and relock the bootloader after rooting, is there any difference from how the tablet was before rooting? Could I then send it in for a replacement, if it was within the warranty period and it had developed a hardware problem (which wasn't related to rooting)?
Is there any known problem with the nexus that might develop which would prevent me from relocking the bootloader (e.g. problems with the USB port?)
Is there any way to relock the bootloader without a computer?
Thanks and sorry for the nooby questions
If you flash a stock ROM with stock recovery and re-lock the bootloader you should be fine. I've heard that as long as you don't mess with the internal hardware, you should be fine sending back as is, but don't take that as gold because it's just something I've heard.
Not sure on the known problems to be honest. You should be able to use a phone or another tablet to lock your bootloader as long as you can get fastboot installed on it.
Hey folks,
I wanna ask if rooting S7E voids warranty and if there is way to go back. Simple question but...
I've owned G4 (epic phone) and I rooted the device within first month. I had no issues for long 12 months but then I've ran into bootloop G4 issue (confirmed issue by LG). The thing is I've unlocked bootloader with official LG tool, which enabled small message in upper left corner on boot "Bootloader is unlocked". This small message gives info to anyone who holds the phone it's out of warranty. And there was no freaking way to lock the bootloader again. I was f*cked.
I'd like to buy S7E cause Note 7 is gone and there is no other choice for me. But is there a way how to turn phone completely into stock form inc. unroot, bootloader, rom, .... for case something happends to the device and I will need to return it? I can afford to buy another phone in 2 months just because I was d*ck who rooted the phone, voided the warranty and got kicked out out of the shop.
Thanks in advance for answers, link to tools/articles,.... :good:
Man, there are numerous threads about this question already. Why open a new one?
Well it might be true but I haven't found anything. If you have a link for me, share it please.
Oh, just saw that you're new here. OK. First, welcome to XDA. Generally, you should always use the search function before opening a new thread. Here's the link for that: http://forum.xda-developers.com/search.php
To your question: Yes. Rooting will (depending on your location) void the OEM warranty. It CAN also void your statutory warranty. Samsung devices have a "KNOX" secure container. A separate elaborately encrypted partition on the devices local storage. To prevent unauthorized access the Knox container is secured by an eFuse chip which will be blown as soon as non-Samsung signed images are flashed on the device, e.g. rooting, custom ROM or kernel or any other mod. When the eFuse is blown it'll be shown in the device's bootloader menu as "Knox Warranty Void: 0x1" similar to the G4's "Bootloader Unlocked" tag on the splash screen. A tripped Knox flag is irreversible. Once the eFuse is blown, the secure container and its contents are wiped and can never be accessed again until the device receives a new motherboard with an intact eFuse.
Thank you for the summary. I can just say its' pitty to have such expensive device and once u try to use Android power you are done.

Thanks was looking for that answer too nitros (did use the search function here )

I really want to install AW2 DP on my Huawei Watch as I find AW1 very laggy. However I am worried about the warning that it will void my warranty if I do so. Is this because it unlocks the boot loader? Can it be relocked should I need to revert back to AW1 and return back it for repairs etc?

You can relock the bootloader fine but only if you're 100% stock unless could risk bricking the watch, Since Dev Previews are supported on HW warranty shouldn't be void

When I attempt to unlock the bootloader with ADB, I get a warning on the watch saying unlocking the bootloader will void the warranty. I really want to try AW2 but I don't want to void the warranty.
If I proceed to unlock it and want to flash stock AW1 back on it at a later date, can I relock the bootloader so no one would ever know?
My old Moto G5 Plus suddenly shutdown and was stuck in a bootloop after an update install (not sure if that caused it), is there a risk that the same thing will happen if I update to 93? I RMAd my old phone and Motorola sent me a completely new one after 3 days. My old phone didn't have OEM unlocked so I couldn't even unlock its bootloader, so my only choice was to send it back to Motorola.
Would it be a better option to unlock bootloader, root and install twrp instead? If the same thing happens to my new phone, since I have it rooted and all I can flash new ROMs and firmware so it works again, right? Is it not worth it to void my warranty?

Should you take the update? Yes, there is no reason not to.
Is there a risk it could brick in the process? Yes, but honestly if your device is stock that risk is minimal
Would it be a better option to unlock bootloader, root and install twrp instead? No, it will void your warranty
The question is, what do you want in the end, a stock device with a warranty or a modified device without one? If you want a modified device without a warranty, go for it. If you want a stock device with one, although I understand your hesitation due to previous issues, go ahead and take the OTA, worst case scenario Moto will replace it again, although you are unlikely to have issues.
You do have the option to make that decision later... Enable Developer Options and go into it and enable OEM Unlocking but DO NOT actually unlock the bootloader, then take the upgrade. If it succeeds, just turn off OEM Unlocking, if it fails you have option to try something to recover it. Be aware if actually unlock the bootloader the warranty is gone, so if on the off-chance it does fail don't panic and try to think clearly.
