GPS FIX AOSP 2.3.2 (Gingerbread) [02/10/2011

This is how i got my GPS working....
1.I fist installed and booted [ROM] aospMod | AOSP 2.2.1 (Froyo) [12/10/2010]
2. i then put the AOSP 2.3.2 (Gingerbread) [02/10/2011 and gapps-gb-20110120 on the SD Drive.
3.I booted in to recovery, wipe case,w wipe user data, install from zip, installed AOSP 2.3.2 (Gingerbread) [02/10/2011, wipe dalvik, rebooted, wait 1 min on main screen
4. i then boot to recovery, install gapps-gb, reboot,
5. DO NOT SELECT ANY FROM THE PROMP MENU, CHOSE THE ONES IN THE MARKET
This is how i got my to work.

Love to see someone test this to see but I'm not going to personally. If it does fix the GPS, great. But the froyo and gb mods are step-bothers, and probably don't play well together. Without a full wipe, aospCmod is very prone to bugs and lag issues.

i know, your not going to flash the gapps

2.2.1 CM Floyo v0.15 and Android Market app

Hi all,
I just installed my first custom rom on X8 - 2.2.1 CM Floyo v0.15.
But strange thing is I cannot manage to install apps from Market.
I can browse the web, browse apps in the Market app, but when I click on install, the download goes forever and the progress bar does not move.
Can somebody help please? thx

i have the same problem as you but with the cm7 android 2.3.3 rom

the synic is not the best. try another rom.
i have the smae problem while the 2.3.3 is installed. it is so buggy
now i use 2.2.1 and this is so good ^^

But I have 2.2.1 and cannot download apps from Market. It really sucks, because I like the rom, it is very fast.

If your baseband is 006 you should change it to 015 look for a thread in the development section there should be a guide in there to help you change it that solved my problems when i had them

I have installed baseband 015 before installing the rom

i dont have problem like that, thanks to app called asistan apn (indonesia only) glad i'm indonesian

I had this problem too but once I tried to download it again.....just worked.

try with a another wifi ? maybe a full wipe ?

Try to format cache. should work..

well i faced this issue in standard 2.1 rom too, i found that it has something to do with gtalk, so i will suggest you to setup ur google account 1st then open gtalk & then install the market apps

Things you should try:
Check your wi-fi
Re-sync Google. Try signing-in to Gtalk or Gmail
Clear cache
Re-install ROM
Reboot

I had the same problem but all I did was reboot.

still not work for me,only official 2.1 can download from market. ngebetein bet

sorry for my noob question..How do I flash the baseband after downloading it?
Should i flash it from xRecovery? And how do I flash the custom rom with the *.rar bcoz it could not be detected in the xRecovery?

Tried to re-install the rom, clear the cache and sync with google.
I am able to download market apps via 3g, but not Wifi.
Gtalk and Gmail do work with Wifi.
EDIT: The wifi network at my workplace seems to be part of the problem. Gtalk does NOT work through it, but Gmail does work.
My colleague has a HTC Desire with Android 2.2 and he cannot login to Gtalk, but can download apps from Market unlike me. I don't get it.
I will try another wifi net tonight.

Nope for me, market works fine. You should try MiniCM by ponanovn it has new market and i use it now.

Alright, tell us how that works out. =D

With another wifi the market app works. Seems like the Market app in this custom rom uses also another ports beside http, and these are blocked on my workplace wifi network.
Anyway, I reversed back to official 2.1, because I had 3 random reboots in one day. Way too much for my taste. Will wait till one of the custom roms gets really stable.

try this ROM.. downloading from the market is not a problem and can be use app2SD also..

Tried that one also, but had wifi issues. The soft keboard could not be slided out with holding the left button.
I will just stick with my current official 2.1 rooted + xRecovery + JIT + link2sd for now.

[Q] looking for a better version of CM7 [currently on 7.1 stable]

Hey fellas, its been a long time since i have been on 7.1 stable, and was wondering if i should upgrade to one of the newer nightlies..can anybody tell me which of the latest nightlies is better than CM7.1 stable and i should flash??i have a green lens defy and i want the camera to be working..a link to the nightly will be appreciated..thanks

hey dude i would recommend download.cyanogenmod.com/get/cm_jordan_full-63.zip its the latest nightly and i'v been using it for long time now on my greenlens defy and its actually very stable too good luck

Mine works beautifully with the CM7.2 12-04 nightly, also green lens. Very fast.
lately been playing with ICS, but keep going back and forth (just wipe, install CM7/9 kernel, restore nandroid) because currently camera and a few other things not yet ready on ICS

No! lol you just wipe data and cache chose install zip from card and reboot thats it
if it stuck at CM7 Logo just take out battery and reboot and ur good

why do we have to wipe data? wont i lose everything? when i upgraded from RC1.5 to 7.1, i didnt wipe data..

I'm not really sure why but it didn't work for me , but if you want you can try without wiping , or try to search xda for any thread about that gl.

okay i flashed the nightly u recommended...did it the way i normally do [wiped cache and delvik]..but i am facing an issue with it...the 2g mobile data [mobile internet] was working when i initially flash this update, but later it stopped working..wifi is working but 2g internet isnt..rebooted my handset quite a few times but didnt help me in any way..any idea what i can do..

Yea I had this problem too , try defy base band switcher which comes with rom already and chose which network suites you and try re-check the apn if they are correct, enable data background , if they did work at the first time so it must work again GL .

[Q] Force close

i'm using AOSP Froyo 2.2 and i recently installed an older version of Quickoffice because its much better than the newer versions.
so i made a mistake and updated it so when i uninstalled and re-installed the same old version again every time it open it says:
The application Quickoffice (process com.qo.android.htc) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again.
so any help guys.. i really need this app to work, coz most of the apps doesn't support arabic.

That is where quickoffice came in nfinity? You have TO remove quickoffice.,wipe data and cache and then reinstall

[Q] Jellybean on Defy (Need to wipe data?)

Hey guys!
At first I'm new here and from germany, so don't be mad for my english.
I have CM9 running on my Defy and want to upgrade to CM10 Jelly Bean-Defy Builds by quarx or Epsylon3.
In no case I wan't to lose my messages on the phone and all the other things.
Do I need to do a full data wipe, installing CM10?
And does anyone have got a link for Jellybean Gapps without a torrent in it? In Quarx CM10 Thread only is a torrent link.

I went from latest quarx cm9 to cm10 today without wiping. The phone did the application optimising before completing boot and I still had all my apps. I'm not sure I'd recommend it though. Some of my system settings weren't properly set after upgrading.

You can use this app to backup your messages and restore them later:

I went from ICS to JB without wiping data, just cache and Dalvik-cache. It worked, in the sense that the phone booted and seemed to work, but after using it for a day I found it got really slow; applications were taking a long time to launch, and some stopped responding completely.
I saved my messages and performed a full wipe (data, cache, Dalvik-cache) and then flashed JB and Gapps again. This time, the phone ran much faster and after 2 days it hasn't had any slowdowns.
So, you can _try_ to upgrade without wiping, you won't lose data and the phone will be useable, but I strongly recommend doing a full wipe.

Yesterday after several attempts, had to do a full data wipe... It was bootlooping. Now works pretty well!

I think I'll be happy with my CM9-ICS. Its rocking and smooth as hell.
And the Changes from ICS to JB aren't that big

Yesterday I flased CM10 (25/07) and I only do a wipe chace and clear devilk cache before flash CM10 and then gapps for Jelly Bean. You can find gapps for Jelly Bean here goo.im/gapps/gapps-jb-20120726-signed.zip

One of my friends also has got a Defy running CM9-ICS now and he will try it for me if I have to wipe.

So I thought it didn't worked and started normally meanwhile checked the settings and came to know its 4.1.1

The App-Startup animation is different from ICS. When you take a picture it slides to the side after taking it. In Gallery the Images are now seemed to be stacked, like the page changing animation in App Drawer. The Statusbar is different and many other changes... Like the menu guidance and so on.
