I received the Nexus 10 32gb on Friday and have noticed the following problem:
When I have WiFi on and my Bluetooth controller connected, the WiFi and Bluetooth signals will completely shut off and restart consistently within a 5-10 minute time frame. I have seen posts regarding WiFi problems and also general Android 4.2 Bluetooth problems, so I am not sure if this is related, or perhaps more insight into what is wrong with these units (or at least mine).
Has anyone else experienced this?
What I am doing specifically when this happens is this: WiFi is connected to 5ghz router signal, Bluetooth is turned on and paired to a Nyko Playpad controller (BTW, the paring is way more finicky than with my Note 10.1 which I am trying to replace with the Nexus). I then start playing a game with Mame4droid Reloaded or Nesoid and consistently within about 5 to 10 minutes, the controller will become unresponsive. If I go back to the home screen when this happens, I see the WiFi icon is now only an outline (no blue or grey signal bars in it), then the Bluetooth icon goes from blue to grey. Then, after a few seconds they both come back on and I have to re-connect my controller.
I haven't noticed the WiFi dropping in general use, and if I turn off WiFi and use the controller, it seems to not disconnect/drop out.
Update: Last night I watched a full 2hr NFL game streamed through NFL Game Rewind and at one point playback stopped. The WiFi indicator turned grey and I had no internet connectivity (couldn't even open any sites in Chrome). I turned off WiFi and when I turned it back on again, it just hung on "starting WiFi"- or whatever it says and there was no list of available connections, etc. I had to power down and restart to get it back up.
Then, I used the Nyko Bluetooth controller to navigate the menus and some apps to see if it would disconnect as it does when gaming. Same thing happened- both WiFi and Bluetooth connections cut off and restart...
I am obviously returning this unit, but I hope to see if the same thing happens to anyone else as far as WiFi/Bluetooth is concerned. No one else has used a Bluetooth controller effectively with their Nexus 10 yet?
I have seen complaints for this same issue on the Galaxy Nexus forums. Seems like they think it's a Android 4.2 issue.

Any of you have a problem with Bluetooth failing? I've noticed that while tethering, if I'm doing anything particularly high-bandwidth, Bluetooth utterly fails. For example, while downloading torrents, watching youtube videos, or video calling, my connection fails and I need to soft reset my phone before it'll work again.
If I try turning Bluetooth off, then on again before a soft reset, the phone hangs at the "turn Bluetooth on?" query screen and doesn't turn it back on. After a reboot, everything's fine till it fails again. It's not my data connection, because I can still browse the web from my phone.
dartinbout in the eXpo users' group seems to have been having similar problems with his stereo Bluetooth headset.
I also seem to recall having similar problems with WMWifiRouter as well, but I can't test it anymore as my trial period has run out.
my bluetooth fails when listening to music on a stereo headset. i have to reset and reconnect after it stops playing and freezes.
when i try to use wmwifirouter it does not show a 3g to bluetooth option and internet sharing bluetooth pan will not work.
a few times i have turned on my phone and it said failed to load bluetooth stack. it also has given a similar error when bluetooth was on but not in use.
i hope the custom roms can have different bluetooth stacks more like the htc bluetooth stacks
You know what, after dealing with this problem for a while, that sounds exactly like the problem I'm having. WMWifiRouter will stop working after a while, and when I restart the phone I get the same errors. Internet Connection Sharing fails when I watch videos, very, very often while I'm watching YouTube or trying to video chat with someone. I actually watch my data transfer go from downloading and uploading to absolute 0.
I haven't contacted LG about it yet, but it's driving me nuts... >_<
EDIT: Just to double check, nev310, when your bluetooth fails, are you also using it to tether, either through WMWifiRouter, or through ICS? I ask because I use bluetooth for music at work all day and it never fails, but when I come home and use either ICS or WMWR it fails between 1 to 10 (at last count) times, without using a bluetooth headset.

when it fails i am listening to music through a lg hsb-250 bluetooth headset at work with screen off using wmp. when i load wmwifirouter the 3g to bluetooth button is grayed out and i cannot use it. i have used 3g to wifi and when i close the connection and close wmwifirouter my phone acts like it doesnt even have wifi. doesnt show it in wireless manager at all i have to do a soft reset.
since i did a hard reset i have not had a bluetooth crash but it use to crash everyday sometimes only after a few minutes of listening to music.
the only way i can use bluetooth tethering is through the intenet sharing app after changing the registry to use media net but my car pc will say i have no internet access when connected, my laptop works fine..if this phone wasnt so fast all this would be a huge problem but i just deal with it. i hope it can be fixed in a rom update or cooked rom.
also.... (unrelated) the other day i turned on my htc fuze and waited for it to boot up tried to connect to wifi and load opera...took over a few minutes and the screen just feels weird and i have to hold it was up to my face i used it for over a year and now im like how did i use this phone lol. but what i did notice is i have a 6.1 rom on it and have more free ram than used ram(i think about 50mb used out of 203mb) so i started to see how many apps i could run with out them closing and running out of ram lol. all that free ram made me kinda want a 6.1 rom for the expo .i also wanted to make a thread to see what phones people had before their expo/iq

The bluetooth issue is one that I've had with my handset since I got the phone back in December. First when I would have my bt headset paired and I'd answer a phone or stream audio it would work fine. Then out of nowhere someone would call or I would make a call, and I couldn't hear anything through the headset. I would have to reset the bluetooth or reset the device. My phone would get hung on the "Turn Bluetooth on" screen just like yours does and I'd have to reset the phone. I have repeatedly talked to LG about this and they said I would have to send in the phone.
This also happens when I tether over bluetooth. It will work for a bit, but after a while even with no traffic the connection fails. The phone still says its connected though.
I bought a Tilt 2 from a user on ebay so I'm going to use that phone while my eXpo is away at LG. It appears to be hardware related though.
SPIDER, you better not leave eXpo forums. Hope it gets fixed!

lol. Nah, My wife has my Tilt that I upgraded from to the eXpo, and I'll give her my tilt 2 when I get the eXpo back. I will say though, LG could definitely learn a thing or two from HTC when it comes to smartphones. My expo so far has made me doubt my choice of it over the tilt 2 and my experience in the DAY that I've had the tilt2 has made me doubt my original choice even more. I'm hoping that once they fix it and I get back a fully functional phone I'll put those doubts to rest. I love the snapdragon and the possibilities that come with it, but I'd take the slower processor of the tilt2 over a snapdragon phone that doesn't work worth a damn most of the time.
(crosses fingers)
I was wondering if anyone else is having issues with bluetooth on their Archos 101. I can't tell if perhaps my hardware is flaky, or if its a software issue.
Basically, bluetooth seems to work sporadically. Sometimes it pairs like it should, other times it is a fight just to get it to pair with my phone, laptop or bluetooth keyboard. Often times I have to reboot just to get it to pair and it seems to really struggle if both bluetooth AND wifi are enabled.
I'm running the stock current ROM and outside of the android market APK and some basic apps, I haven't done anything wacky or weird to it.
I guess I'm just looking for some validation and/or confirmation and/or possible fixes if any.
Sorry, i have experienced no issues with bluetooth apart from forgetting to switch it on
I have had some issues as well. Paired a set of Motorola S9 bluetooth stereo headphones. They pair and connect fine, but the audio is choppy. It will sound fine for 15-20 seconds and then it will skip, go silent, bring back audio, etc. Tried playing same audio through unit speakers and no problems. I also have an Archos 70 tablet and have no problems with the same headset. Both have been updated with the Froy 2.2. Starting to think it might be a hardware issue with the 101. Anyone have any other thoughts?
Never had it working
I always get paired but not connected. Never have been able to get it to work.
The same problem. Pair, but not connect!
I've never found problem about bluetooth (Archos 101 - firmware version 2.1.08)
Pair & connect with DELL BH200 (Bluetooth Headset) - work fine.
Pair & connect with DELL BT Travel Mouse - work fine.
i'm getting major issues on my new replacement 101. did you ever sort your issues? i'm using latest fw.
its really hit or miss (mostly miss) whether it actually see's any BT devices when it scans. yet wifi works fine 100%
I experiment something very similar with my 101, this both on standard Android and Urukdroid 0.7 or 1.0 :
- very difficult (multiple tries have to be done) to get successfull peering.
- with BT enabled phones
- with BT GPS (G-Sat BT-368i, wich is given in forums to work well on our gen8 devices)
- for the GPS (which is the BT device that interest me) : impossible to have it working directly from GoogleMap, I got some success with "Bluetooth Gps Provider" appli from Market). This device is never shown as connected from the BT Parameters.
Could it be a hardware problem, that is do I have to return the tablet to archos ?
Thanks for your experience feeling about the fiability of the BT on 101 tablet.
It generally works fine for me, but a couple days ago it got stuck, and it would not allow to send me files to other devices until I rebooted the Archos. The same day I was also using bluetooth headphones and the wifi network together, and I had audio stutter problems. It seems that wifi has a negative effect over bluetooth stability.
It works for me... though
Bluetooth is not working on my Archos 101.
When I try "scan for devices" it shows 1 or 2 devices, while my HTC HD2 shows about 5. When I click again on "scan for devices" - sometimes it is howing different device, sometime shows bloothooth adress only.
Evan my HTC can see Archos, it cannot pair with it. Archos never see my HTC.
Zalek
Same here
I can pair with my phone (htc desire hd) but cant connect.
I need my phone connected for gps.
Nobody has a solution ?
No solution ?
Thanks
BT has some issues for me too with an A43.
BT+wifi means i either can't get a proper internet connection, or BT devices disconnect.
quite annoying, because i want to be able to use my BT mouse with the internet browser.
and my jabra halo headset connects in dumb mode (no media/volume controls) most of the time.
which is annoying, because it means my headset is stuck on the volume i last used.
Hi Lara and other fellows! For me, after all sort of tries, the solution comes with full reinitialization. Plug the unit to AC outlet, backup all your data, go to settings, repair and formatting and full reini. It seems that when we update firmware the things go a little crazy with the bt side. Good luck!
Think I've sorted out bluetooth problems
I also have had real problems with the bluetooth on Archos 101 - pairing but not connecting, causing "Location & Security" to crash when I attempted to open it (in settings). I updated the firmware to 2.4.19 and then rebooted - still the same problems, so I did a full initialization and hey presto all problems seem to have vanished ! A pain because I've now got to re-download all the apps I had before but at least the tablet is working as it is supposed to.
Hope this helps others.

It is not working for me.....
Archos 101 Bluetooth Problem - Known issue?
I'm having the same problems. I contacted Archos support and they told me to do a full reinitialization. This did not resolve the issue.
When scanning for bluetooth devices, nothing shows up until the 5th or so attempt.
The mac address of the discovered device is shown instead of the device name.
When attempting to connect it fails several times, then it pairs but says "paired but not connected."
When I finally connect the audio stutters. It's extremely choppy... useless.
If the bluetooth is left on, the 101 will eventually freeze when the screen sleeps and cannot be woken up by pressing the power button. The green light stays on when this happens. Pressing the button a few times or holding it in reboots the 101.
After reading all the posts I've come to the conclusion that Archos likely knows about this issue.
Archos, if you're reading this, for the sake of your customers, please admit this is a known issue and let us know if it's fixable and when a possible fix may be available.
I encourage everyone to open a ticket with Archos support.
If you purchased your 101 used and it's been registered by the previous owner, you can register it and the registration will be instantly transferred to you.
Create a support account at archos.com
After you create an account you can add products to your account and submit tickets for them.

Has anyone experienced that the Bluetooth completely stops working on this phone?
It seems when a certain bluetooth device gets out of range from the phone and momentarily reconnects, while this process happens for quite number of times.
The Bluetooth seems to stop functioning completely until the phone is rebooted.
That is to say, the bluetooth menu and on/off switches will appears to be working but none of the paired bluetooth devices can connect to the phone.
The Scan function in the Bluetooth settings page also becomes useless where it will appear to be scanning but will not find any near by devices.
The same with that check box "Tap to make visible to nearby devices", another device will not find the phone's bluetooth signal.
It looks like the kernel module for bluetooth radio has crashed, after prolonged period of paired bluetooth devices DoS the phone's bluetooth with very weak bluetooth Connect signals (when it becomes out of range)......
This bug seems to be problematic because whenever I have my devices charging in separate places this problem start to appear within a few hours after charging.
Most of all this is very annoying because you will need to reboot the phone to get bluetooth to function again.
And I will not factory reset my phone just because of this annoyance.
It looks like that there's a major issue in the hardware or kernel itself.
This problem started happening when I got the Asus ZenWatch. The problem is apparent if the phone and the watch are almost out of range to each other but repeatedly reconnects once in a while.
This looks very much like the main reason for crashing the Samsung Galaxy Note4's Bluetooth Kernel module...............
I am making the assumption that the Bluetooth Kernel module has crashed because another device does not detect signal from the phone's Bluetooth radio.
I have same issue with my SM-N910C variant, simply BT doesn't turn on.
bluetooth shuts itself off after 2 minutes. you need to check the box again after 2 mins. annoying but not the end of the world.
existing paired devices pair normally regardless. ive never seen it crash or freeze.
The bluetooth on this phone is terrible. Quite honestly, this is my only gripe about this phone. I have to connect/disconect bluetooth several times in my car before it stays connected. While connected, every few minutes the audio will drop out for approx 2 seconds and then come back on. Also once every few hours right in the middle of streaming audio while driving, for no apparent reason, the phone just decides to disconnect bluetooth altogether. Very Very frustrating.
I'm having the following dmesg messages related to bt init:
01-18 12:04:50.748 19152 19164 E bt_upio : set_bluetooth_power : write(/sys/class/rfkill/rfkill0/state) failed: Operation not permitted (1)
01-18 12:04:50.748 19152 19195 E bt_hwcfg: Start CFG HW, HCI reset
So sad that there is not a solution right now.

The problem was the range and a weak or intermittent signal.
Since I changed the leather band to a stainless steel one which I believe boosted the watch's bluetooth coverage.
This time the phone's bluetooth does not go down anymore.
Now, I am not sure if the watch's coverage or antenna too short causing this issue.
Or something wrong with this phone's bluetooth...
I have a weird problem.
I frequently run a combination of SiriusXM, Google Maps (navigation) and ARU Rootless (mirrors my screen onto my car's Pioneer head unit so I use the head unit's bigger touchscreen to view and control the phone). To use ARU Rootless, I run a hotspot which connects to my Chromecast on the head unit, casting my screen to the Chromecast.
The problem is that eventually I will get a notice that GPS stopped working, and at the same time, I've noticed that my data connection completely drops as well. The screencasting and audio (stored on the phone through SiriusXM On Demand, so it's not using a data connection) continues to work and I can still make voice calls, but I can't regain my data connection or GPS until I reboot the phone.
Running all these things at once gets the phone warm, but not so much that I think, "Damn, that's hot!". I have not experienced any reboots.
Lately I've suspected that the problem might be related to overheating. I've taken to hanging the phone off my car's air conditioning vent to keep it cool, and I think I've noticed a definite improvement. I'm about to leave on a 2 hour drive and will test it again.
So.....is the simultaneous loss of GPS and data connection possibly related to overheating? BTW, my carrier is T-Mobile, but I'm not hitting my data limits so throttling is not at work here.
Hello folks,
i atm i am Running RR 7.0.2 and having the problem that my bluetooth is disconnecting/reconnecting randomly in an interval of ~20 minutes in my car and nearly every day the bluetooth service on the phone completely stops working and then i have to reboot it to get it back working again. It's deactivated on the phone then and can't be activated, neither by the button on the pulldown menue nor in the settings.
My issue seems to be similar to the problems these guys encountered:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s5/help/oreo-bluetooth-t3851777
https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s5/help/bluetooth-off-randomly-t3971491
Is anyone maybe having an idea why i am experiencing this behaviour or how to solve this issue?
Upgraded it to Resurrection Remix Q and the issue is gone so far, but my daily driver is now a Mi 10.
Many years ago and when my phones were Nokia S40 or Symbian, i had quite short on - off intervalls, every 5-10 seconds.
In this case here i suspect that you have just bad signal reception.
The connection between my S5 and my new car OBD adapter occasionally dropped until i switched from BT4.0 LE to BT 2.1. Stronger signal.
In such a case(phone on the dashboard, adapter below and metal in between) a direct connection may be impossible, making it depend on signal reflections from the chassis. Connection to the headunit was always stable, the radio sits atop the EOBD jack, and this alone may shield the adapter from the phone.
