I'm running cm10 on the internal storage, and when I plug it in while turned off, it just boots. Normal issue with cyanboot?
Normal. It turns on because software has a role in charging, so the power chip turns it on when plugged in.

Can you charge this device while it is completely off? Any time I plug in the charger while it is off it turns back on and boots to CM7. If I then power off it will turn itself back on, is this normal?
Thanks.
Yeah, this is normal. Not sure why, but the device needs to be on to charge. Probably has something to do with software control or tracking of the battery charge. I'm sure someone smarter than me knows the real answer, but if you plug the device into either the charger or computer while off it will power on.
To charge it with it powered off....
Plug it in with it on....
Long press power...
Select "Power off"
This is the only way to get it to shut down and remain turned off while charging
Thanks for the reply but even when I select power off it eventually rebooted.

If you leave the battery in a very low percentage for weeks it will be dead. Then? How can you bring the nook to "life" again?
My S3 has started a strange charging problem and I hope someone here can help. My S3 has been charging fine and showing the LED, but since I plugged the phone into my laptop USB, now the phone stops charging if the screen is on. It doesn't matter if it is connected to a wall outlet or USB.....turn on the screen and the LED goes out and the unit stops charging. Under "Battery" options in settings it shows as connected and charging, but it isn't actually charging any. Use the power button to turn off the screen and the LED lights back up and the unit starts charging for real. I've turned off the LED(unchecked it) then turned it back on....no difference. Rebooted etc.....nada.
Phone is bone stock AT&T and I'm new to Android. Hoping it is a simple setting that somehow got changed.
Led is supposed to turn off when charging and screen is on.

You misunderstood part of the post. Not only does the LED turn off, it stops charging with the screen on. Under Battery options it "says" the battery IS charging, but it really isn't. Battery level continues to drop. Turn off the screen and it starts actually charging again.
Well it may be because you are using more power than its putting into the phone. Or it may just be defective. Have you tried another Rom yet?

Are you using the USB cable that came with your S3? Is your laptop plugged in our running on battery when this happens? I also believe that you might be using more amps to run the screen and Wi-Fi and whatever else is running on the phone than the USB can output. What generation USB port is in your laptop?

If there is a thunderbolt on the battery icon, then that means it's charging. When you turn on the LED option when charging, it only turns red when the screen is off, and turns green when it's full.

After flashing Quarx's JB 25.10 rom, my phone ran i to trouble. Now, it won't boot. I when I plug in the phone into an outlet, the charging light won't come on but oddly, the phone turns on and goes to the Motorola logo at boot. Then it stays there. I've since lost the original cable that came with the defy if that matters. When I plug the phone into the USB of my computer to charge, the charging LED comes on. But after some time, the phone turns on and goes to the Motorola logo and stays there with the charging LED off. Some time latter, the phone will turn back off and the charging LED will come back on. And then the cycle repeats with the phone turning on to the Motorola logo.
When I hold the up volume and power button, I get a message saying battery is too low to program so I can't even get to flashing a new SBF from RSDLite. Help?

Had this problem with first 2ndboot builds, but it should be resolved in later updates... For me charge mode works fine on 10.18 +10.25update.
Anyway you can try starting the phone without the battery, with moto charger:
1: pull out battery
2: connect charger to mains
3: connect charger USB cable to phone
4: phone should power up automatically, and boot to CM10
5: once the phone booted to CM10, you can put the battery back, and charge it
This method worked for me, hope it will work for you too!

It's stuck at the Motorola logo. After I had the problem, I reinstalled CM10 but the phone abrubtly shut off mid install. That may of caused some problems.

You mean a computer USB to phone USB cable charging? That doesn't help. The moment I plug the phone in, the white LED ligth blinks once quickly but the phone won't even turn on to the Motorola Logo.
No, he means a separate batt charger, where you can put the battery in.

Please ask all questions in the Q&A section. Thread moved there.
So why would flashing a custom ROM cause problems with charging?
My device Nexus 7 (2012) won't power up from the "OFF" state.
If I turn the device off, it won't turn on again, unless I connect power to it. Once the screen lights with the charge indicator, the device will turn on.
Battery state can be fully charged or almost empty or any where in between.
The power button does nothing, until the screen displays the charge icon, then it works as normal.
When the device is off it is only using the 'bios' level of system.
Running M-Kernel mr2 , was running stock kernel. Happens on both.
Any ideas or suggestions.

I got my Nexus 4 yesterday and I did battery recalibration.
Everything on, WiFi, BT, NFC, brightnes high, etc. and Stability Test.
After a while the phone switched off, because of 0% battery.
Then I plugged the phone into the charger. Phone was off. The screen showed a battery loading symbol with "0%" number.
After half an hour I went back to the phone (still off) and pressed the power button. Still 0%.
The charger wasnt warm too.
Then I switched the phone on and suddenly it was loading. Charger went warm too.
What happened here?
Is the phone not capable of loading when powered off?
Purity ROM 4.4.3 and AK 301 kernel
charger is original, cable from Nokia.
The phone should be capable of charging when powered off, what your describing sounds like a strange instance, but as long as its working now then I don't think anything bad happened.
