Charging - Nexus 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is it OK to use a phone charger on the Nexus 7?

So long as the output voltage is the same. Of course, charging using a phone charger is going to be painfully slow.

Yeah slow compared to the stock charger but these things do charge off the same voltage as phones so there is no problem there.

How about the other way around, could I charge my Galaxy Nexus with the Nexus 7 charger?

Yes. Although the charger is capable of charging at a higher current, the phone is only going to charge at the rate it was meant to. In other words, if the charger is rated at 2A and the phone 1A, it's not going to charge twice as fast.

Charging

I'm to receive my nexus 4 today. Should I fully charge before using the phone? Also, my old HTC would bump charge. Does this work on nexus 4 or no?

Doesn't matter really.

Nexus 7 v1 Charger with 2013?

Is it safe to use the original Nexus 7's charger with the new 2013 model?
Unless I'm mistaken, it will only allow what amperage it can use. So I'm thinking that if the max it can take is 1.3, then even on a 2, only 1.3 passes. Maybe wrong.

I have been using the original Nexus charger. It charges faster and so far I've not had any problems.

Cool I've been using one too and it seems to be working fine. Was just a little worried it would do something weird or something.
I used it over night and had no heat issues.

This is correct, it will only take the amperage it is coded for, no matter the amperage of the charger itself.

Yes, as long as your tablet's wireless charging contacts were properly assembled. A lot of people are having issues getting wireless charging to work at all because of poor QC.

Saw a guy in another thread said support told him to go into boot loader restart bootloader and then reboot and it worked after that. Easy enough to try?

2.5A charger

Would it be OK to use a 2.5A charger with my Nexus 4.

Yes
Sent from my Oric-1 micro
Yes it is OK.. The phone will pull only 1.2A though, so you won't experience faster charging. Just make sure its 5V.

Are you sure about this??? I have one charger 2V but I dare not try
USB universal standard is 5V, this is undisputable.

Slow charging speeds

My mediapad is charging ridiculously slow. Ampere is reporting between 310mah and 550mah charge rate. Anyone else have this problem?
I get 1410
