Hi there, I ran into a problem with my phone, I downloaded some app (I can't recall its name, but it pretty much crashed my phone).
I thought my phone just shut down itself, so I just restarted it... But then it keeps looping the Samsung welcome screen, I tried to be patient and left it there, totally forgot about it and half an hour later it was still looping the animation !
I googled for answers, and most of them said I had to flash my phone. I used Odin 1.85 to flash it, with success ! But it didn't solve my problem... The samsung screen is still looping and I have no clue what to do. I can flash it again, I guess... I doubt that'd solve it tho.
I could post a video of what it's doing exactly, but I think I'm clear enough. Would anyone like to help me ?

@op.. which app it was? From where you took firmware? Because you should download firmware your phone only with proper region..
see my guide about flashing stock through Odin.. link is in my signature.. or in general section sticky thread...

From here (6th reply) ,
December 2011 Netherlands B5510CEKK1_B5510KPPKI2_B5510XXKK2_HOME.tar.md5 --> Split-up flashable firmware
My phone is from Belgium, but I couldn't find a Belgian version. I flashed the version for the Netherlands succesfully though...
And what guide ?

This is the guide I meant...

For Odin flashable firmware files I have given links there.. so you can follow it..
Is your problem solved now or is it still in trouble? If in boot animation loop.. then wipe data in recovery and reboot..

Oh you're right, but those are not splitfus'ed, and there is no download for Belgium...
ok, if the files you have downloaded are odin flashable files.. that is if they have .md5 as ending in file format.. then its good.. so flash it from odin.. do it as written step by step..

Yes I did, like someone else said here. No change.
I refuse to believe it's bricked, because I can get into recovery/download mode. I can even get into CWM.

well, that means its really weird...
are you sure odin said finished? rebooted automatically?
man i am out of ideas.. sorry.. if you have nandroid backup.. try restoring it.. that should definitely work.. since yours is not in bricked state.. and also if you dont have backup.. just try fix permissions in cwm advanced option..

Ok, now something else is happening. I start "fix permissions", I get a black screen and I have to restart my phone...
I am using Chobits a modified version of CWM.
And yes, ODIN said it has passed with success. rebooted itself too. I dont' have any backups.
sorry.. i am out of ideas.. try wipe data/cache and dalvik cache.. and wait for few minutes and see if its booting.. if you have a backup.. try it now.. you are not in bricked state for sure.. if you can see boot animation... so i cant help further than this.. because i am not getting ideas to solve this..

I am not sure, but can I flash the kernel ? Maybe that is the cause... If so, where could I find the stock kernel ?

Install 7zip software.. its free.. then extract boot.img from the Odin files.. open those files you will see boot.img file.. then you can flash it with kernelflasher tool.. search for it..
But its not the cause...

Hello there, I just tried to root my dads (lol yep) samsung galaxy s.
I used this kernel: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1332412
as the phone stated it has got 2.3.6 on it.
I used Odin, unticked re-partition & Flash lock. Ticked Auto-reboot & F. Reset time.
Ticked the PDA box and loaded the kernel.
After I pressed start Odin said ''All threads Completed (Succed 1/Failed 0)
But after auto rebooting it just kept looping the boot screen.
What have I done wrong and can I fix this without losing any data?
If not, can I flash it too stock. Never any modifying was done with the phone. Rooting was the first attempt.

it should have worked... anyways if u can enter download mode then u can always flash fresh stock rom and then root it...
EDIT: http://www.theandroidsoul.com/galaxy-s-gets-official-value-pack-firmware-xxjw4-includes-touchwiz-4/
1) follow steps to get latest xxjw4
2) download http://download.chainfire.eu/155/CF-Root/SGS/CF-Root-XX_OXA_JW4-v4.4-CWM3RFS.zip and follow siberian tiger's instructions in 2nd post for rooting ur device
3) PROFIT BRODA!!!
Hm weird. I'm sure I did everything correct.
Anyway, I found out that it did manage to install Clockworkmod and I've backed up everything.
So if i would flash a new rom now and then restore only the data image, would I get back all the data?
EDIT:
My dad was/is (hehe) using a dutch rom, are there any latest dutch stock roms available?

dude if u have cwm recovery then connect ur mob to pc and go to mounts and storage> mount usb storage in cwm recovery and copy imp stuffs to ur pc... abt the nandroid backup u made u can extract apps frm it via paid version of titanium backup... also u can change language to whatever u want frm settings after u flash the new rom!!!
thanks dude that is awesome information. but after flashing the sd card is untouched right? so the backups should stay on there anyway?
I just got a GT-i9500 GS4 and I wanted to install miui on it but didn't noticed the release was for i9505, after the installation finished my phone didn't boot up and I think it's bricked. I tried a few unbricking methods like factory reset and cache wipe but nothing helped.
Any1 can help me please, also is it possible to get it to the store and get it fixed because I did a factory reset on it so it's not rooted ?

Ah thats not good,i suppose you dont have a Nandroid either? i suggest you do a nandroid backup right now, format data & cache and try rebooting. If it still doesnt work , your /System partition may be corrupt. best to go with the above mentioned post by klebengan which would return you back to stock.
Mind you, in both cases you would lose your data. so do a nandroid right now, atleast wou would have a chance to extract important data later once you are up and running again.
BTW, This is the wrong place for this thread, it should be in Q & A and i m pretty sure there would be similar or related posts

ok, thanks for the tip but I tried to even follow the Klebengan post but the main problem is that I am not even able to go to the download mode with the volume key up and Plugin in the usb cable.
I have the flash tool and the kdz file but as i said I am not able to go to the download mode so I am not able to use the LG flash tool also.
If somebody can help me with the steps of transfering the zip file in to the phone memory I can atleast try to install the custom rom once the phone goes on and starts than I may try to flash with the kdz file.
pls help

Why dont you flash a 4.2.2 from your country then ? Try this first . Remove ur battery for 10 sec and put it back . Then press and hold power+volumeup in order to reach recovery . Then wipe cache/factory reset then reboot. Have a nice day.

I have the same issue but my phone refuses to go into Recovery. I'm attempting to flash stock UK ROM via Odin. I didn't do a full factory wipe beforehand, didn't think I had to but wondering now whether I should have?.......have I bricked my S4? I can get into Download mode if I press Vol Up quickly or it reboots instantly, very strange.
Anyone got any thoughts how I might fix this?
Hello, i'm here for helping my friend. My friend's HH is Galaxy 4, bought at Guang Zhou China. Official Samsung China. After went to Mt.Bromo, may that's too cold, the problems are :
HH suddenly can't booting. Just appear until logo samsung and then suddenly off.
Can't launch stock recovery mode (vol up+home+power)
but CAN launch download mode (vol down+home+power).
HH can't appear status of charging when it's charge but maybe the battery is charging. Maybe.
All are still official. Maybe Android 4.2.2, but can't sure.
Anyone can help me fix this phone? Step by step please help...Thanks all

I am using I9505XXUHOD7/I9505EVRHOD1/I9505XXUHOD7/I9505XXUHOD7

Obviously you did something wrong.
Custom roms don't count as official software updates/upgrade. Meaning that it won't lock your phone to that particular android version.
Remember to wipe before flashing.
i forgot to do this before but I just wiped and tried again and still get bootloops
EDIT: thank you bro im just not patient and it worked

Yeah, whenever I install Custom ROMs I get nervous during the initial boot (hoping its not going to be a bootloop) hahaha.
Nowadays I literally get a timer out and countdown 15 minutes (15 minutes out of personal experience is ample.....)
If I don't get that "optimizing app x of xxx" message by then, thats when I retrace my steps to look for errors.
I guess all I can say for all you guys above is..... don't forget to do a nandroid backup!!
