[ROM][A200] Android 4.2 Port! Download now - Acer Iconia A500

Hey,
I just ported Android 4.2 from Acer A500 to A200. Thanks to our good friend: randomblame (AOSP 4.2 - Jellytime early build available - V3 - xda-developers)
DOWNLOAD: https://docs.google.com/open?id=0B4ZWp6etwAPeR0haSmpya0k2VFU
ROM is very unstable atm.
How to install:
If you're are on cm10/9 you don't have to wipe anything, If you're using an other rom which isn't based on 4.x.x you have to do a data/factory reset.
PLEASE GIVE ALL THE CREDITS TO RANDOMBLAME, he's awesome!

Just want to ask, is there a way to backup my current ROM? And will this work on any A200 processor tablets? Thanks.

When you're in your custom recovery run the backup option. And if a ROM is compiled for the A200 then it will work on any and all A200's

Thanks, I think the only thing now is the list of functions that still has bugs. AND the ability to backup and restore current ROM would be a great addon.

new?
Is there anything new going on with this port?

[Q] Best ROM+Kernel?

Hi everyone,
Which would be the best (most stable for daily use) ROM+Kernel combination?
From what I've read, I'm favoring Virtuous Picasso+UnityV3. If I apply it from a fresh install (factory wipe, dalvik, cache), will the issues (wifi dhcp, gps) appear?
Thanks and great work to the devs!
I use Virtuous Picasso with Thor's kernel, but good luck finding it. It's very stable and I have not had a single reboot yet. I have not tried too many kernels yet either. Reason, why switch if it works great.
For me, it is the Virtuous Picasso 1.0.8 ASUS Rom + thor's 1.1 beta2 kernel. Smooth, fast, worry free...
One big plus is that the ExternalSD is accessible when connected to PC!

No, no, no, you got it all wrong.

How about VP 1.0.8 with Unity?
+1 for thor's kernel with galaxy ROM. The kernel is the best part, not a single reboot or issue since switching to it

Love it lol. Asus 1.0.8 and thor v1.1 beta 2 for me right now also galaxy 1.0.2 with thor v1.1 beta2 for that rom. Better overall in each especially on 1080p video playback. His kernel wipes the floor with that bourne ultimatum hd trailer lol

What's the most vanilla ICS rom for Note?

Hello,
How are you?
I am a bit tired of Touchwiz and some lag on the phone, so I would like to switch ROMS.
So, I was wondering what is the most pure vanilla ICS 4.0.4 ROM for the Note, wich is stable and has the fewest know issues?
I am sorry for this thread, but there are so many roms developed that it is really hard to choose.
CHeers and thanks!

Well, Paranoid Android is a fantastic ROM for the Samsung Galaxy Note, as it offers a near-ICS experience that allows for both tablet and phone modes. Try it out!

Thank you for the suggestion.
Do I need to flash a modded kernel for that rom?
Or does it work stable and fast with stock GB kernel?
Cheers!

For an ICS ROM you need to use an ICS kernel. But Paranoid comes packaged with the kernel. By the sound of it you are on GB at the moment. If it's already rooted, do a full wipe then flash Paranoid and the GApps package from the same thread.
If you are already on ICS, do not do full wipe until you have read up on how to do it.

Any downsides to this ROM?
I am currently on stock Note, with ICS 4.0.3 and stock kernel. Not rooted.
Would a kernel like Speedmod work better with the nightly rom? Or is a stock GB kernel better?
Whichever rom I choose, I need to use PC Odin to revert to GB before flashing anything, right?
Cheers and thanks!
Why would anyone use cm9 If Paranoid Android is the same with much more features..
You cant use any tw kernels like speedmod. Cm9 need cm9 kernels
can i install Paranoid Android from ICS through Abyss 4.2 kernel ?
i want the safe steps to install ...........

So I cannot use modded kernels with Paranoid?
So the best way would be PC Odin to stock GB, full wipe then install Paranoid?
Would that give the best performance?
Cheers!
You can install it from ics if you want.
download Abyss Kernel 4.2
copy Kernel and PA Rom and Gapps Files to your internal SDCard
boot into Recovery
Flash Abyss Kernel 4.2
boot back in Recovery (to find under "advanced")
Factory Reset
Wipe Dalvik Cache (under "advanced")
Flash PA Rom
Flash GAPPS
reboot system

You can use modded kernels with PA, but only cm based ones like AniDroid/bbq etc.. and not the touchwiz ones like speedmod/franco.
To install, follow what the post above says, or as you mentioned use Odin to go back to gb, root/install cwm, full wipe then install Paranoid Android.

As stated above cm9 only uses cm9 based kernel, you don't have to worry about that, it will install itself when you flash the ROM.

Because not everyone like tablet mod, I've tried PA but returned to cm9 because the phone UI is more suitable for the note .
And then there is the faster update cycle of cm9.

Just my two cents: I found PA to be super buggy in comparison to CM9, the boot splash didn't fit the screen and the UI lagged a lot more, some of the apps were great in tablet mode, but CM9 feels overall far more suited to the Note.

If I install a custom Rom, either PA or CM9, can the note be reverted back to full stock? Recovery, kernel and Rom?

If you want a true Vanilla experience install the 4.04 Stock Rom, you will find the there are now a lot of people using it, it is stable, fast and the battery life has improved. There is a large difference between 4.03 and 4.04 official ROMS.
I have been using it since it came out and I find that it beats everything else I have tried. On the down side the 4.04 kernel still contains the EMMC Bug so I cannot do a full wipe without reverting back to GB.

I run that same setup often, it's pretty solid, and aaronpoweruser (or something like that) has a CM10 kang optimized with Linaro that's a nice build.
You need to be in recovery and wipe data (labeled factory reset), wipe cache, wipe dalvic cache, and wipe system. Then if I were you i'd flash the rom, boot and setup and let it sync and settle a bit then reboot to recovery, make a nandroid backup, and wipe cache and dalvic cache and flash the kernel zip file.
Lots of people just flash the kernel without wiping the caches, it's kinda up to you on that one, it takes approximately 2 seconds Im thinking.
I'm running the cm10 kang from xda and motley. It is amazingly smooth. Like buttered butter

Sounds like you have some reading to do bud. The first post should have the details but it may be in the next couple down. Could be in Rom Manager if you flashed ClockWork Recovery. Search for some rom basics so you understand kernal before flashing. Also, I always try to read at least the first few and last few posts of any new rom to see what people are saying about the rom.
Good luck!

[Q] best roms

hi,
i want to ask who is the more stable roms for Ideos X5? (not the pro)
i want a stable and fast rom, and if it is possible not take all the battery.
for fast rom it is better to stay in android 2.3? or i can have and good results with 4.x?
the 4.x roms need more memory from the 2.3?
Thanks for any answer

Based on each version of Android:
Gingerbread - CM 7 ezet's rom
Ice Cream Sandwich- Aurora dzo's or AuroraSP (tweaked of Aurora)
Jelly Bean - CM 10 blefish's rom
My 2 cents

hi
thanks for this, i have use ezet's CM 7.2 and it is good.
I have see that you have use AuroraSP (in your signature).
How about speed and battery about ezetCM7 and AuroraSP? it is similar or not?
Also you have any idea what is wrong in my previous post?
thanks a lot
Hello, first of all you should install official 2.3 gingerbread from Huawei and root it. After that you should be able to install aurora without problem.
There is a thread on the developer section on how to install and root official Rom.

Speed is better on Aurora that's for sure and about battery i don't remember well i don't have CM7 and haven't tried anymore more than 1 year but drains a little more if you use 2G and turn off Wifi and then you can save battery.
If must have GB on your phone after that you should install any other custom roms since from CM7 to CM 10 and of course Aurora too. Remember when update from different kernel please format system, data and cache with together all 3 wipes.

it is working when i install CM72 but not in aurora.
i have wipe system data cache but still not luck. In the boot i have just see the huawei logo.

If you have ezet's Rom then you are at .32 kernel and need to install official Rom first. Just read my previous post. If not then sorry..
