It seems to me that solved the problem with sending MMS (Jellybean, ICS).
Just
1. install the Go SMS
2. go to settings and change the file size that can be sent (I set 500kb). The default is 1 MB.
3. After changing this option, you can uninstall Go SMS and use the standard SMS program.
Works for me!!
I had a problem sending MMS as well (I'm on O2 UK), nothing could not help, I lived with it for a few months, sometimes playing with APN settings, after while I realised that there is much more profiles in the APN settings, than I really need. I deleted them all, created only 2 new ones set exactly as per operator's advice - one for web, one for mms, restarted the phone and now I can send/receive MMS again. Never had to install a 3rd party SW tp set the size up for me.

I did the same but did not solve the problem
the problem is that the GSM operators have some limit to send mms with higher weight. In the case of orange (PL) is 600KB. In rom (ics Jelly) we cannot set the minimum limit. Often it is 1MB. It is not possible to switch. So with the help of Go SMS goes

for a wm device i know how to change things, as for now i would like to set my mms size limit to 5mb the max for sprint, but how would i do this? don't really want to learn android code just to set this.
Not sure how you could do it with the stock app ( without finding & editing the proper code ) but i know Handcent SMS & chompSMS both allow you to change the MMS limit plus they have great other features as well.
i tried handset but I get double notice on texts. How do I change that?
go to the stock messaging app, menu>settings, then disable notifications. you'll only be notified through handcent/chomp
handcent only goes to 1.2 stock does 3, sprint limit is 5mb
Hi guys
I have a problem getting MMS to work. I THINK the problem started when I changed my phone number using an app "My phone number". It was incorrectly set so I fixed it and that allowed me to see the correct portrait in my sms conversations but mms won't work.
Before anyone says change it back, I have no idea what the phone number was before I changed it! Any help would be appreciated.
Using HD2 - With pongsters GBX V12 - T-mobile UK.

No one got any idea? Tried everything I can think of.

Well your number can only be one of two ways. Normal, or with international dialing at the start.
It cannot change the actual number, else the phone couldn't take calls, or even register on the network.
Example, mine starts 07763, but my phone stores it (and indeed half my contacts are listed) as +447763 since +44 is the UK dialing code.
If I get a txt/call that identifies itself as starting 0xxx and its in my contacts as +44xxx then I don't see the caller id, just the number.
Ok well in that case it must be something else, perhaps it was just a coincidence. I have checked and double checked the APNs for TMobile UK and still struggling.
Oh well back to the drawing board.
when i install any non-sense android ( im on O2) it always sets up several, giffgaff, tesconet (both piggyback on o2 network) and 7 (yes, seven) o2 ones, two for data, two combined data/mms and three mms.
The main problem is that five of the o2 ones has APN type that includes mms, and add to that the details aren't correct in each one, and some are for the ifoney access points which doesnt work, and i never ever get a correctly working mms until i have deleted the oddball ones, and fix the password in the one mms one that i want. Data seems to work, but i suspect that is because the settings in teh first APN in the list are correct for data, but when it tries to do mms it always fails, because of the combined data/mms ones, i believe.
All in all its a real ball ache, and the main reason i never wipe the phone between rom version updates.
Well after about a week of trying i fixed it!
I have no idea why this works, but i installed a different messanger client (GO SMS) and mms worked straight away? I have noticed that other using cyanogenmod roms have had mms problems for no reason so perhaps there really is a bug somewhere.
Anyways, thanks for the help samsamuel. And anyone else who has a similar problem, try a different sms client.
not getting go sms pro send mms for the life of me. I can sent pic/mms with the stock app and handcent but not with go sms pro (my favorite ...any suggestions. I have nexus 4 on ATT.
N4 initially couldn't send MMS with any app other than the stock app. Sounds like GoSMS hasn't been updated yet to be compatible.
I have yet to see a good sms alternative that works right with ics and up. They are all written to run on gingerbread and made "compatible" with 4.0-4.2.1. I would just use the stock mms, I use that and a custom text tones app, seems the best way to go
Really though it is frustrating. Why hasn't any developer dared to ditch gingerbread and make an sms app purely on 4.X framework? I loved gosms until I got my ics update on my vivid, afterwards it was buggy and laggy and looked like crap with no holo ui.
Anyway that's your problem. All the sms apps just suck and our stuck in the past.

So I found the fix for my own problem. Go SMS pro doesn't not import the default MMS APN info from the stock program. What worked for me- I manually updated the default AT&T APN details into go sms pro. pretty simple fix in the end. works like a charm so far.
1. on the N4, Go into settings/ mobile network/ access point names/ att wap. Record values for MMSC, MMS proxy and MMS port.
2. go into Go sms pro advanced settings/ MMS settings/ check in " fill APN manually"/ insert the previously recorded info above into the empty fields and voila...
Cool, I'll keep that in mind if I ever use it again, that's good to know

Hey everyone.
For weeks now I have been having an issue with sending mms to anyone, nor can I receive. Im on the Koodo network here in Canada. I have made sure that my apn settings were correct. I mainly use GoSMS and when I select the image, type a message and hit send it just disappears. No sending arrow icon not even the picture itself.
I have also tried in the stock messaging app. But when try the same task, it actually crashes. My gf has a nexus 5 and she is on the Bell network and having the same issues.
Im not really sure what steps to take next. Any help would be great. Thanks.
Try Sliding Messages. It allows you to set APN in the app.

Yes so does gosms. Not sure apn is the issue as it seems like it can't even attempt to send.
Anyone also have this problem, I can't send/receive MMS with 3rd party messenger apps like Google messenger, has anyone else encountered this or found a fix?
Check the app permissions?
Checked all permissions, everything looks good but can't send/receive mms messages, I can send SMS messages
Yes!
I've been trying to track this since yesterday. I lost it somewhere between all the flashing and customizing of EU ROM.
It definitely did work on Chinese official.
I can send SMS and MMS from 3rd party, but I can only receive SMS in it.
The incoming MMS are disappearing into thin air, that is as long as 3rd party app is handling SMS as default.
With all hair ripped out of my skull, I'm getting ready to wipe again.
Which ROM are you on ?

Have you doubled checked your APN settings ? Could be as simple as that (hopefully) . Ive had similar issues with my Oneplus2 before i changed my settings and everything worked fine.

Damn, just made a thread for this too.
I can't send or receive MMS...I am on the Stock Chinese ROM...
I was never able to send/receive MMS on the Chinese official stable rom, and now that I'm on Lithium EU rom it still doesn't work. I have checked APN settings several times, and allowed all permissions but something is preventing MMS for sending/receiving.
I had some MMS wonkiness too several months ago with mi Mi Max (since then upgraded to Mix). I tried quite a few MMS apps, finding Textra handling all my messages, including images, just fine. I've stayed with it since and it's worked great, no issues or lost messages/images.
It is ROM dependent. Some of the ROM's do not work well because of a conflict on the locale setting vs the APN
Same problem.
Material messaging works perfect though. I guess because it has the ability to input custom APN settings
I'm having a similar problem with the google dialer. It won't list call history even though it has full permission. I've tried disabling and removing stock dialer to no effect.
me 2...
I cannot use the google messenger to send mms either. I am on 6.12.22 global rom. I tried setting all sorts of permission, won't send. I tried the Mi Mix's built in texting app, works.. hmmm...
Try
Settings -> Installed Apps -> Defaults -> Messaging -> switch to your app or switch to the xiaomi messenger app and then switch back to your app.
I had this issue with my Mix. It turned out that setting my phone to Norwegian did this when using Ice.net provider. Using English solved it, but I ended up changing provider and now it works fine with Norwegian.
