So long DHD/I4G users :) - Desire HD General

Inspire 4g was my first smartphone ever.
I never knew about what rooting was until i typed, "Inspire 4g jailbreak(haha silly me)" on youtube.
it gave me some results to rooting.
So i did and followed the instruction.
the link sent me to XDA.
never knew what XDA was until I looked further into the website.
For the past 2 years here on DHD/I4G , I had a great time flashing every rom.
I think i at least tried every single rom.
Im sad that some amazing rom/dev stopped supporting the dhd/i4g like....Rcmix team, Leedroid, coredroid, the family because they moved to a new phone as well.
Now that I got my Nexus 4 in my hands, I'm proud to move unto a new phone.
Flashing new roms and new stuff from different amazing devs.
Hope I have some fun time over at Nexus 4 forum!
Im still going to be keeping my Inspire 4g to play around.
If any devs need a "tester" to test something, hit me up for it.
well so long.
hope to see some of you over at Nexus 4 forum !

Deep down im jealous

the nexus 4 is certainly very tempting, but there's life in my dhd yet.
the dhd has had (and will no doubt continue to have) a pretty amazing dev comunity. im loving mine with cfx

Have a great time @ Nexus 4.
I only registered today, after reading along and flashing my DHD for the past one and a half years..
Also thought about moving on to other phones now, but none of them really suits my need. One X looked awesome, but Hardware/Software didn't excite me. S3 works like a charm, but I couldn't stand that cheap plastic cover. Note II pretty much the same, and can't be used with one hand. One X+ is quite awesome, but already feels outdated with the DLX in clear sight - plus no LTE here. And Nokia and Motorola can't excite me either.
Maybe the updated DLX (LTE, non-cable loading, 2500+ mAh) will be what I'm looking for.. but until then, I guess I'm staying with my beloved DHD.
It simply is a flawless device.

I'm using Sabsa Prime v9.0 at the moment, and it has fantastic battery life, even with Wifi turned on and doing stuff every now and then, it holds for an entire day, with mobile internet probably more, haven't tested that yet though.
Unfortunately the ROM is taken offline at the moment, they are saying the dev copied some code from somewhere, nobody knows if it's true.. you will have to wait a few days, until it hopefully is online again. :fingers-crossed:

im pretty sure the nexus 4 will satisfy you.
at least for me...it did.
Nexus 4 is not under the contract.
(my contract ended so i can get another newer phone whenever I want + Nexus 4)
Nexus 4 has great spec for its low price.
Nexus 4 can fit into 1 hand
Nexus 4 comes with the latest updates and provides fast updates

It is pretty normal that people sooner or later will change their devices, especially in the world of Android where the new/improved hardware coming out every 6 months or so, render even the today flagship devices to obsolete within less than 1 year (look at the fate of One X).
Right now I still rocking my DHD with ARHD 6.3.3, it is still runs very fine since I bought it brand new earlier this year except for battery which is already shown the sign of decreased performances. So, congratulations for those who had already have One X or the shiny new Nexus 4 in their hands! See you in that devices forum next year when I have some money to throw at that flagship.

Nice. Congrats

Goodbye nexy :(

I would like to thank all of the awesome devs here in the Nexus One forum. You've taken me from a android noob, to a not-so-noobish noob. I'm still learning but I've recently got a One X. My N1 went south when it took up smoking and well.... It blew up. That's what you get for overclocking it way to much. But I would like to thank each and everyone of you for being awesome. Nexus One, You honestly changed me as a person and opened a whole new goal in life.
Okay enough of the rambling, I'm off to enjoy my 1X.
Take care guys.

yeah thank you all
I bought XPERIA S
Evervolv for ICS rom
Sad... I'm going to change my phone soon too, but the Nexus 1 will stay in my heart!
Am i the only one noticing that Jay_Rulen said thanks for leaving? LOL So you think it is good of him to leave?
I moved on to the Galaxy SII and will miss my N1. Thanks for the good times everyone!
whoa that's really sad, nd its great that u got one x, which is a successor of our nexus one
I'm in a similar boat. I recently had to replace my N1, and it will be sorely missed. Especially the LED trackball! Sadly enough, the google nexus is too big for my taste, and I didn't really want to spend $400 up front on a new phone so I picked up another phone instead.
I've vowed though, that as long as the next Nexus device is sized more like what I prefer, I will buy it!
I can't believe it, but I'm saying goodbye to my trusty N1 too. I'm still going to keep it around for media stuff around the house, but I got to get me some of that LTE. And IMO, the HTC One X is the first phone that is a true successor to the Nexus One.

My N1 is still alive, but I have moved on to the galaxy nexus and I also find the screen is a little too big for my liking. Screen colour is also sub-par comparing to the N1, I never see proper white colour being displayed even after adjusting RGBs and gamma values.
I bought the japanese galaxy nexus for around $325usd, shipped to hong kong via yahoo auction jp a month ago.
Though I am still flashing different roms on my N1 to play with
Kept my N1
I still use the N1 when I travel and put prepaid SIM's or my own SIM in it. It is smaller than the Inspire and then the Galaxy Nexus that followed it. If it would take ICS, I would probably be using it more. I really like ICS over Gingerbread and the extra zip of the dual core.
Anyway, it stays in my travel bag as a spare.
Phil
that sucks man. but i'm looking at exchanging my n1 for 1x as well
i'm selling my last nexus one now. it's in perfect shape and i'll get around $300 US for it in my country where imports are closed. i got to sell it now or never! i've moved to a gnex but i'll miss my first real phone.
Same here ... I'm moving to GNex now that price is affordable ...
I'm a bit sad because I really enjoyed the first nexus ... It was a pleasure to play with hundreds of custom roms and get support from this awesome devs community.
Thanks to all you awesome guys!
I'm planning to sell my Nexus One,,as the First Android device, this Smartphone has served me with pleasure... The devs are awesome as well...But the world is changing..Need better Specs now..I will miss my Sexy Nexy the most !!

Large upgrade for others? ^_^

I'm upgrading from a Sprint Evo 4G and I'm blown away when I compare the specs of the two phones, regardless of what Samsung throws out in the next few weeks I'm getting the One, HTC build quality just blows me away, my Evo 4G lasted 2 1/2 years or so and the battery charges like new, and the phone is 95 percent mint condition, with the tiniest scratch on the screen from a drunk accident.
Who else is making a drastic upgrade and from what model?
I'm upgrading from an iPhone 4 I've had for 2 and a half years so this is big for me, especially since I'm moving over from iOS to android. I can't wait.

I'm upgrading from a Samsung Vibrant. I would have kept the device because it was actually good enough for me. But I damaged the LCD cable and now it displays red-tinted colors. This, and some previous problems like a (very) scratched screen, SD card slot half-broken, GPS never works, camera lens missing....
Well, I think I need a replacement

I'm definitely gonna love it. While a jailbroken iPhone was fun and all, and still pretty customizable, It will never have the extensible customization android has. Also Android has come a long way since the time i got my iPhone 4. Can't wait to root my device when a root becomes available. Been reading up on all my stuff so i won't be a total noob when I get my HTC One.

The mytouch4G was my favorite phone next to my s3. Still runs great, after two plus years. Stepdaughter uses it now and she loves it.
This is the 1st HTC phone I have been interested since the Amaze, which the wife has now. I wasn't that big on the Amaze acfually, but was a nice phone hardware wise.
See how it goes after the s4 is launched.

Yup, a lot of my friends still don't believe my mytouch is running the same OS as them and in some cases still very much powerful. If it wasn't for the One being announced, I probably would've stuck with it for a few more month maybe another year. But the One sold me.
I bought the amaze for my wife. It's a very good device. It just never got that support it needed. I'm probably one of the few that think the camera is great.

Same case here! I went to the town in Liverpool to have a hands-on today. I must say the phone is stunning, and without any doubt captures amazing photos, let alone the extra capabilities to shoot slow-motion videos and sequence shots and the ability to edit them thereafter. Boomsound is not only decent, it is so loud that it could easily fill up a small reading room without any assistance of external speakers. The sound is, of course, crisp and clear.
Ever since the phone is rumoured to release i have been monitoring its progress. Have to regrettably admit that i have never been that hardworking in my studies. HTC One definitely lives up to my expectations, in fact it surpasses them.
Ordered the Silver once i got back. Now I'm dying to get it.
Upgrading from the HTC Incredible S myself, there's nothing actually wrong with the phone, and nothing on the market was even remotely luring me into buying it until I saw the HTC One. I am completely sold on it, never been a fan of GS3 (sure, awesome specs, but I really didn't like the way it handled/felt)
My biggest problem is picking the color, I absolutely adore both black and silver, so I picked the silver out of a coin toss
Upgrading from my HTC sensation. While it served me well, I can't resist the HTC One. Was nowhere near as interested in last year's One-X series...have to say that I'm genuinely excited and counting the days until my pre-order arrives.
DHD all the way! I'll still be keeping it

I will be leaving my trusty 3VO. Though not a huge upgrade, it's still quite the upgrade, and I'm especially liking all I've seen about the upgrade in the camera! I will miss my familiarity, as I changed my digitizer twice and my wife's once, and REALLY miss my lack of volume down button (from the 1st digitizer change)...
I'm coming from my (nearly) 3 year old HTC Desire.... Can't wait! got the black version on pre-order.
Upgrading from MyTouch 4g Slide. It all started when the digitizer got broken into pieces had it replaced then a few weeks it totally shut itself down permanently. Right now am using my HTC Sensation so yeah a big upgrade for me.

[POLL] How long keeping your Nexus S

Well I have an HTC one coming tomorrow. But I'll keep it around in case of emergencies. My upgrade came at a good time as the nexus while working is feeling worn. Battery life just isn't what it use to, overall it between a gook's two years of service.
something clever goes here...
Im upgrading in july but i'll keep my ns just in case!
Nexus S is my first android and it still work so FINE!
It's speed is still impressive!
And it is getting better and better now!
1 year of service, but if development continues to provide with new ROMs, it will stay on service for a lot of time, for now with Gamerzrom 3.0 and very fast.
I'll keep my Nexus S until the next 4-inches nexus device. But I think my NS will die before that time.
i love this phone expesially now that its rooted
Also my first Android phone that satisfied me. But a use of 2 years is enough, nevertheless it will stay at the family... until it dies.
I'll keep it until it dies, for sure. I see no reasons for switching to a more recent phone. Mine is 18 months old and very snappy and usable.
Well I inially thought of a exchange with S1, then I quicklly changed my mind (with the help of some Nexus S hard fans on this forum ) and now I'll probaply keep it untill it dies, now my reall problem is that all the phones I previously use just keept me on Android, but since my Nexus I've gotten addicted to Nexus as a phone, If you get me to choosa between a GNexus or S3, HTC One, S4 I'd choose the older GNexus, is this weerd?
i love mine - its my first smartphone!!
I'm probably going to leave for the sunny shores of the Nexus 4 in a couple months. I held one for 15 minutes and now my poor old s just feels... crap I've had the nexus s for 10ish months, which i got for free off my friend. Not bad value

Wish mine was snappy and as usuable, it's about the same age as yours but I've had problems since my first update to ICS and after I rooted and flashed roms/kernels it's just never been the same. I have the HTC one coming in a few days so I'm pretty stoked, I'll keep my nexus s to be my Ipod touch alternative.
Bought mine on launch day. Still going strong, original battery too. Though the lack of RAM is the only thing I'm having trouble with. I'll probably break down and get the upcoming Nexus.
Might be switching this summer
I just bought mine a week ago and I loved it.
I chose to stick with gingerbread CM rom combines with CM kernel (patched with force AC charge and bigmem).
The experiences is great even in gaming because I only play mini game.
I maybe switch to other phone next year but I'll keep it as backup phone for sure.

Want to buy Nexus 4. Still a good device?

Hey guys,
I am thinking about getting a Nexus 4 to replace my HTC Sensation. The Sensation has many problems such as huge battery drain and it gets extremely hot during usage. So I thought the Nexus 4 would be a great idea. Pure Android (huge fan of that, was using CM for a long time on my Senny) and Google Support sound good and the price seems to be okay to (I could buy a 16GB variant for about 310€).
Is this phone great? Is it still worth buying considering it's already nearly a year old? Does it have some know problems such as huge battery drain or display problems?
I need this phone for browsing, using the calendar, writing emails/sms and sometimes taking photos. I don't play any games on it except 4 pictures 1 word.
Thanks in advance!
I too came from a Sensation, and it's a fine upgrade, for all the reasons you mention. Perhaps not as durable as HTC's build quality, so be sure to include a decent cover (I use the Diztronic TPU and it looks factory) to protect that beautiful glass. It's a joy to use..you can't go wrong. Cheers!

Honestly, if that is all you use your phone for, you should get the Lumia 1020. But if you want to stay with Android and can wait 4 more months, the 5th Nexus will be out then and should the price be as low as the Nexus4, then it would be better to get that.

The Lumia 1020 would be out of the price range. I'd never pay 400€+ for a phone I only use for work. I probably can't wait till the next release because the Senny really bugs me. I can't use a phone which burns in my hand because it's getting extremely hot while chewing through battery like nothing. My Sensation barely gets through the day with moderate use.

I can't sincerely tell someone to purchase a 7 month old device when knowing a faster device will come for the same price in due time.
Well you can go on buying Nexus 4, everything is a beauty when you compare prices and then it is a google phone so it always have it perks.
If you think you should wait for nexus 5 then its not very much pretty soon bcz this time google launched s4 and htc one as google variant which means next nexus will take time.
Your tasks which u need to perform as you have mentioned would all be performed very well.
Tip I can give even for better battery.
Unlock the bootloader, use custom recovery such as CWM and flash CM 10.1 stable releases which ever is latest.
Find franco kernel and flash that and for better colours use its colour profile.
You will have an outstanding experiance with great display and great battery time.
Best of luck.
NOTE. All decision is urs what ever suits you best.

People will and should buy the device that suits their needs and the price they are willing to pay.
If you want a unlocked / contract free phone the device is a good choice
The entire motion that a new device will be out in a couple months is pointless. He wants a phone now. A couple months is just that. A couple months living with a phone he doesn't want. Then when the next nexus device comes out there will be the next best thing on the horizon.
He a is a basic user that doesn't participate in the stupid I need the lastest and greatest hw spec race.
Sitting around waiting for 4 plus months for a device is just stupid.
Why buy a HTC one now? The plus version is coming? Why by a s4 now? The advanced or whatever version with the 800 is coming in a couple of months.

To each their own, I cannot speak for the needs of TC nor their personal interests. Whether he's comfortable with waiting X months is currently unknown and has not been divulged in this topic, so we can agree to disagree.
He said he probably can't wait for the next release because his phone bugs him.
Even a device like the HTC first would suit him fine hardware and software wise. Not unlocked and cheap of course ( don't even think it launched outside the US or unlocked) but just talking the device itself
There are plenty of users who are not concerned with the I can read the spec sheet pissing matches. Wait for the latest and greatest chip so they can have a higher score in benchmarks etc.
Its definitely still worth buying full price. Its a great device especially if you're a fan of stock android like you said.
Happy phoning.
I really don't need high specs. Benchmarks never intersted me because at the end you probably won't feel any difference between for example the snapdragon 600 and the snapdragon 800 in everyday use. I just want the phone to work well without stuttering and without any hick ups.

If you need a phone now, just go for it. If you are not in a hurry, you can wait and see what comes up. IMO I usually don't want the first batch of the phone anyway since they are usually the ones with problems.
just buy it
I highly recommend nexus 4.. Believe me it's as smooth as HTC one out even better..
Root and flash cyanogenmod and Franco kernel... That made me a delighted user from a happy user...
Besides it'll have developer support for hell lot of a time to come... Even after people forget about HTC one and s4..
:good::good:
I'm going to buy it at the end of August and I think it is still worth it. However reading this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2259334 scaried me!

[Q] Get N4 now or wait for N5

I had bought a N4 in January this year and gave it to my cousin last month. Now I'm using her aged Galaxy S and need to upgrade sooner or later.
The N4 still looks to be the best phone for my needs, but I'm also intrigued by the possible N5 in a couple of months.
Shall I get the N4 now or wait for N5 for 2-3 months?

Either way you could probably wait for the N5 come out before you decide on anything because if you get the N4 it'll be cheaper when the N5 is out or get the N5 if you decide you like it.
You can always wait for the next big thing or you can buy right now what you want.

N4 was good but is actually dated now, IMO. These things have very short lives at the top. Get a newly announced phone.

No LTE, a not so great camera, and pretty bad battery do make it a bit dated. The software runs great on the N4. But there are some definite hardware limitations that need to be upgraded.

LTE is easily achievable for someone with technical skills. I also don't really like the battery and the lack of an SD card.
NExus 4 is still a good phone. I got one about six weeks ago and it's great for me.
It all just depends on what you want and how long you are willing to wait. I have no idea when the N5 will be announced, but if you think you can wait for it to come out, then wait. Even if you decide you'd rather go with the N4, then you can get it cheaper when the N5 rolls out. Either way, if you wait you win, you either get the newest device or you get a still pretty good phone on the cheap.
Of course, if you can't wait, you are still getting a pretty good phone in the N4.
In my opinion, in the end either way you come out with a pretty good phone.

If you had thrown in the lack of SD card argument you would've hit every reason people were telling us to not get the phone on launch day.

LTE only works on band 4 which is rarely used in the US except on T-Mobile. AT&T only use band 4 in a few places. This is not a LTE phone for 99% of people.

I love my N4 but it is lacking in hardware compared to many of the latest phones. I will certainly be updating when the new Nexus comes out later this year.
I'm now on my 3rd nexus 4 because the Sammy s4 and the HTC one just didn't do it for me. After I brought them .
The nexus 4 won't be outdated for a long time. All this jargon about more cores...ghzzzz...ram.... Etc will make nothing any more then what it can already do. The n4 runs like a gem. My battery is lasting more then 22 hours. Screen is perfect. Memory is suffient. Ram is fine. Speed is awesome. Camera is great with some tweeks. Lte runs fine.
The only reason ppl change soon is because of advertisement and bigger numbers mean better ... Comparing my n4 to an s4 I had its so much more smoother and better on most tasks.
Hell even the galaxy nexus is still a cracking phone.
Get the n5 if you feel it will bring more into your life. I can bet most of its features will be portable asap....
Either way a nexus is a great phone.

The biggest gripe about the device is probably the storage. Hardly getting by with the 16gb since I use it for music as well. Have about 1gb of space left which I reserve for downloading roms and whatnot and I barely have any music stored on it. Lack of LTE out of the box was also a pain for a couple months before I decided to go on XDA forums since I am on T-Mobile. If T-Mobile is in your area and you have good coverage, no reason not to switch to them since they don't have contracts and have the cheapest unlimited plan. Either way, just wait for the N5 announcement so you can either get the N5 if you decide that you want better features right out of the box or get the N4 and save a bunch of money.
Grow up.. do a market research and decide for yourself.. seriously.. ppl want everything told to them these days..

What exactly is outdated?!
Two things that You can get "better" with newer phone:
1) FHD screen (why do You need this? N4 screen is HQ allready)
2) More pixels to camera (and as You know - more pixels doesn't mean BETTER camera)
Nexus 4 is great phone but you can think htc one or s4 if you have money to buy them.

This is why I'm starting to hate the android mainstream community, all you talk about is the Latest HTC or Samsung Device and brag about specs...those are not the only phones available,..I don't know how apple people stand that **** either

My two cents. I knew about the moto x, and possible nexus 5 but I went with the nexus 4 because its well-known inside and out. Pure Google, or nodded Google for us modders, and its half the price(or a quarter of the price through T-Mobile) than the "latest and greatest" which honestly aren't that great. I get in the 20k mark on antutu, only to be beat out by the one and s4. The camera isn't that bad, and its loads better than some of my older phones, and most importantly no skinning or waiting for updates.
The nexus 5 honestly will probably be slightly better but I love my nexus 4. I'd say go for it now as the new phone may have another guarded Qualcomm chip. At least this one isn't so guarded.
