Nexus 4 in store - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Sooo, it's November 13th, and except BO2 day, it's Nexus 4 day. I'm already hearing that the phone is sold out in all of the Google Play store countries. My question now is if people living in the Google Play enabled countries inside Europe can tell me, and other people ofcourse, if they see the phone in real stores so not online and for how much. I can see they're not in stores today but if anyone knows something please post it in this thread

They have a couple in my local o2 store, not a display model the lady had to go and unbox it for me to take a look. £399 is the price she said sim free although she said they would have to check the computerto see if they could sell it sim free today as is might be contract only today.

its so **** though... £400 when Gplay is selling £279...... £121 difference!

Yep its £399 +10 top up in o2.
Its from lg not from Google. Hence the price difference

what store sells the nexus 7?

I got mine on release day in a store in NYC b/c i really wanted it.
Recently a friend asked me what tablet to get and i said i really love my 7, does everything and is cheap. Then he looks into it and wants to buy it, goes to 2 stores and they basically laugh at him.
It looks so bad when you are trying to win over new customers that no one even sells your product. Where can I tell him to go to buy it. I know staples, but thats embarssing in itself.
Online. Walmart has it too. I couldn't believe best buy doesn't sell it.

WalMart. This past weekend, one of my local WalMarts had 6 of them, and another one had 3. They don't advertise that they have them, there is no sample on display, and there are no signs. Just Nexus boxes locked up in the glass cabinet.
Every other store around here never has them in stock. Sam's Club, Staples and Gamestop have signs but no stock and no display model.
Game stop I went to had advertising everywhere but sold out. Said they sell too fast to keep in stock. Called for me and found one store that has a few in stock
This is in SLC, UT

He could install google shopper on a device of his and see what store nearby have it through that,
I got mine from staples
I got mine from office depot a few days ago. An 8gb one too. Not many stores carry the 8gb one. The Walmart by me had like 20 16gb ones in stock but I decided to buy mine in Oregon so no tax

Walmart didn't stock them in my area.
Neither did GameStop, but they said they could order it for me...
Staples did stock them, but quickly sold out.
I ended up getting the second to last one at Office Depot.
Walmart at my local store in NJ still has some, that's where I got it.
You might be about to go to their website and find out who has it locally or maybe call customer service.

Price of N4 IN UK

Just wondering if i dont buy it from google how much would the N4 cost from uk carriers such carphone warehouse or o2, orange, 3, off contract
Thx in advance

Look at the CPW website - it has O2 costs.
O2's got exclusivity for a month...then all the others will roll out their offers.
Prices sim free are 239£ and 279£, respectively for 8gb and 16gb

I will be keeping an eye out elsewhere for one but only sim free versions from retailers, main reason is because of the trouble Google had with the n7 and people who paid the same elsewhere getting them first with better customer service if they got a faulty unit

When CPW "accidentally" put the pre-order page up a while back and when the info got leaked in a store somewhere it said something like £390.
I'm ordering through Play. No way am I paying an extra £110 for a there-and-then deal.
I don't know why people are dissing the UK play store that much over the N7 debacle on release. They sent out pre-orders a few days later, or rather the e-tailers like ebuyer jumped the gun and sold them earlier instead. It's not like the N7 all arrived damaged or anything stupid like that.
Unless you're willing to wait a month so everything settles down, your best bet is to order direct from Google Play. There is still a chance of it costing more from elsewhere, or it might not, but it certainly won't be any cheaper than from Google Play, especially on release.

Am ordering mine next Tuesday on release day. But never having ordered directly from Google before can anyone enlighten me as to how long products take to be delivered from them?
Thanks.

The flack wasn't so much the delay it was the shambolic customer service, i didn't deal with them personally but heard several stories of people trying to cancel orders to go to ebuyer and google just ignoring them, then trying to return them caused even more hassle. It didn't help they were being compared to ebuyer who generally have decent service when it comes to cancelling orders and returns.
Someone over on avforums has said that they spoke to carphone warehouse today and that they are still insisting on £380 sim free as they aren't geting them in at anywhere near the price google are flogging them. If that is the case it seems mad and I hope google cap it to 1 per household for a bit otherwise i can see shops rinsing their supply. I think i'll be ordering as soon as I get back from holiday on the 18th (unless our hotel has some free wifi going).

[Q] UK Release - Any confirmed stores?

Hi all,
I'm in the UK at the moment but due to be going away on business for the next 6 months.
I'm wondering if there have been any confirmed stores that will stock the N4 on the release day?
I remember the leaked pics from CPW showing that it will cost £380 sim free. Does anyone have any confirmation if this will be confirmed?
Due to leave on the 15th and worried that Play Store delivery wont come in Time..

Ive read that in a few places, but apparently the launch event in association with CPW will allow people to purchase it on O2 or Vodafone... Also first 100 people get a free 32" TV
There is a lot of speculation that CPW will have it sim free at Play Store prices on Wednesday

[Q] Google Play Nexus 4 vs. T-Mobile Nexus 4

I've read that there is no difference between the Nexus 4 sold on the Google Play store and the Nexus 4 being sold at T-Mobile
T-Mobile page: http://www.t-mobile.com/shop/Phones/cell-phone-detail.aspx?cell-phone=Nexus-4
If this is true, then why the price difference from T-Mobile ($549 retail) and Google Play ($349)?
Also, I'm not sure if buying it through google play is also signing up for a contract with T-Mobile or another carrier. I'm unable to gather that kind of information since it's listed as sold out on the Google Play site.
I called my local T-Mobile today and they said they would be receiving some Nexus 4's later on in the week, but retail price on them would be $549
Soooo... why the difference in price?
Also, does Google plan on restocking the Play store with Nexus 4 any time soon?
ps. sorry if this has been asked before, i've looked through the threads and didn't find anything regarding this.
T mobile wants to make money on the phone so they charge more for it. Its the same phone. Eventually it will be back in the play store. Eventually.

Awesome, thanks for the replies. So it would be wise to just wait until the play store gets a restock?
Did I mention my tmobile store will have them in stock this week. idk if i can wait. but its a steep $200 difference in price which is ridiculous.
This phone is just as good or better than other phones that cost $550 so your not really getting a bad deal so to say.. Its just that Google sells it much cheaper. Personally i would wait it out unless you really really want it.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda premium
Why is it ridiculous? Why are you a cheap skate? The phone is $350 on play plus shipping ($20 bucks?) And its $500 in store plus tax. Not even a $150 difference. Googles price point and objective is different than T-Mobile. Buying from T-Mobile is buying from a retailer, and they are charging based on their normal profit model. It is still over a hundred less than other top tier phones. Their business is to make a cut in profit off the sales of phones and more so by providing mobile voice and data service. Google sells to spread exposure to their newest android version, features, build brand. In addition, they make money off the content of the phone such as: addict/sell Google services, app/content play store purchases, data collection/mining/selling, mobile ads, etc. Completely different profit model here and objectives. You are not being fleeced by T-Mobile, especially if buying from T-Mobile means you don't have to wait months to get one off play.

Play received many batches and much more stock than T-Mobile. This is the first time it has been available widely for T-Mobile.
People need to get off the thought that if someone charges you more then you are getting automatically getting ripped off. T-Mobile doesn't gain profit off the content of the device. Their only profit is on the sale of the device... And their service if you use it. Google makes loads of money off your movements, location, personal info, purchasing habits, usage, ad targeting, app store, etc.

Thought I read somewhere that it'd be free with a contract/upgrade and that they'd be selling it for the same amount as the play store, but I'm not sure if that's true
I'm eligible for an upgrade on March, I'll have wait and see

Tmobile is charging $549 + tax (+~$50) which is over $200 difference actually. No, i'm not a cheap skate, but I also don't just throw my money around. I was simply trying to find out why Google sells the unlocked contract free phone for such a cheaper price. Either way, thanks for your explanation, it was informative.
Seeing that you went through 5 Nexii 4, how do you feel about the device? And do you think the production quality of the phone has gotten better since your first? I'd hate to purchase one for +$550 just to find out something is wrong with it.

UK availibility

I have been looking at a number of posts showing that some areas like the US have early availability. There was even one showing a youtube clip of a US T-mobile store with someone in the store demoing 3 Note 3s and saying at the end to a girl that she would go home with one. I wanted to know if anyone has seen or knows of a UK retailer that is selling them early in shop?

I did pre-order mine via O2 refresh, then I spoke to customer services and they confirmed that it should be delivered on the 25th.
fingers crossed
I tried to preorder one from Three UK last night but in the end they said they'd call me Wednesday (launch day?) when they are in stock and get me one sent out for Thursday. Might ring a Three store first thing Wed. and go get one if they have stock. Not bad deal, £99 for phone on 24 month contract with 500 mins, 5000 texts and unlimited data, soon to be 4g too

Want to get this from Amazon UK... no sign of stock yet though!
I pre-ordered at the Samsung Experience Store in London. The initial price was £649, but they are doing a promotion to trade in any phone (doesn't need to be a smartphone or even working) for a £50 discount, making the Note 3 £599.
However I popped in to the store tonight and saw that they had reduced the non-promotional price to £629. I was refunded the difference, so my Note 3 will now cost £579 (trading in an old dumb-phone handset I have lying in a drawer). The price with the promo (limited to the first 500 pre-orders apparently) is the cheapest I have seen in the UK and is actually now cheaper than the online sites if you have a spare old phone (or you could buy an uber cheap one off EBay). For the promo, you must provide the trade-in phone when picking up the Note 3.
I can also confirm that the store will be hosting a special launch night at 6pm on Tuesday the 24th, where people who pre-ordered can pick up their handsets the day before the official release and likely a couple of days before online orders from other retailers will be delivered. They said they're due to get some accessories in on the same day, but could not confirm any pricing for those at the moment. I've seen some sites listing the S-View cases at around £45-50 which seems pretty steep. I'm hoping that they might have some sort offers (or maybe even freebies) available at the launch event, but I'm not holding my breath!
Hope this information is helpful to someone. I think you can pre-order the Note 3 from the store by phone and have them post the handset to you, but I don't think that would qualify for the trade-in offer, so at £629 you're better off going with Handtec or Clove.
Edit - I forgot to mention that they also had demo handsets in both white and black out on display in the store tonight, they look awesome!
It seems to me from reading this thread, seeing Youtube posts and also going to shops in London that many shops have already received them. But for some reason the UK stores are more afraid to violate Samsung's embargo than some of the US and other shops. I will make another go on Monday and see if I can at least get a sighting. If I am successful I will post the information here.
