I've read that there is no difference between the Nexus 4 sold on the Google Play store and the Nexus 4 being sold at T-Mobile
T-Mobile page: http://www.t-mobile.com/shop/Phones/cell-phone-detail.aspx?cell-phone=Nexus-4
If this is true, then why the price difference from T-Mobile ($549 retail) and Google Play ($349)?
Also, I'm not sure if buying it through google play is also signing up for a contract with T-Mobile or another carrier. I'm unable to gather that kind of information since it's listed as sold out on the Google Play site.
I called my local T-Mobile today and they said they would be receiving some Nexus 4's later on in the week, but retail price on them would be $549
Soooo... why the difference in price?
Also, does Google plan on restocking the Play store with Nexus 4 any time soon?
ps. sorry if this has been asked before, i've looked through the threads and didn't find anything regarding this.
T mobile wants to make money on the phone so they charge more for it. Its the same phone. Eventually it will be back in the play store. Eventually.

Awesome, thanks for the replies. So it would be wise to just wait until the play store gets a restock?
Did I mention my tmobile store will have them in stock this week. idk if i can wait. but its a steep $200 difference in price which is ridiculous.
This phone is just as good or better than other phones that cost $550 so your not really getting a bad deal so to say.. Its just that Google sells it much cheaper. Personally i would wait it out unless you really really want it.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda premium
Why is it ridiculous? Why are you a cheap skate? The phone is $350 on play plus shipping ($20 bucks?) And its $500 in store plus tax. Not even a $150 difference. Googles price point and objective is different than T-Mobile. Buying from T-Mobile is buying from a retailer, and they are charging based on their normal profit model. It is still over a hundred less than other top tier phones. Their business is to make a cut in profit off the sales of phones and more so by providing mobile voice and data service. Google sells to spread exposure to their newest android version, features, build brand. In addition, they make money off the content of the phone such as: addict/sell Google services, app/content play store purchases, data collection/mining/selling, mobile ads, etc. Completely different profit model here and objectives. You are not being fleeced by T-Mobile, especially if buying from T-Mobile means you don't have to wait months to get one off play.

Play received many batches and much more stock than T-Mobile. This is the first time it has been available widely for T-Mobile.
People need to get off the thought that if someone charges you more then you are getting automatically getting ripped off. T-Mobile doesn't gain profit off the content of the device. Their only profit is on the sale of the device... And their service if you use it. Google makes loads of money off your movements, location, personal info, purchasing habits, usage, ad targeting, app store, etc.

Yeah its 199 if you're upgrade eligible or new contract.
Thought I read somewhere that it'd be free with a contract/upgrade and that they'd be selling it for the same amount as the play store, but I'm not sure if that's true
I'm eligible for an upgrade on March, I'll have wait and see

Tmobile is charging $549 + tax (+~$50) which is over $200 difference actually. No, i'm not a cheap skate, but I also don't just throw my money around. I was simply trying to find out why Google sells the unlocked contract free phone for such a cheaper price. Either way, thanks for your explanation, it was informative.
Seeing that you went through 5 Nexii 4, how do you feel about the device? And do you think the production quality of the phone has gotten better since your first? I'd hate to purchase one for +$550 just to find out something is wrong with it.

Hey guys I was just wondering if anyone had an idea when best buy will be carrying the Verizon galaxy note 2?
I was at best buy today and the sales lady said she heard not until next year but that seems crazy to wait that long since all the other carriers already have it.

I'm a bestbuy employee and I can't tell you the exacts but I can tell you to "expect" them to be released tomorrow. These are not verizon exclusive phones like the DNA, meaning only Verizon can sell the DNA for a few weeks, best buy and other third party retailers to follow. The note should launch in line at best buy with Verizon. Honestly it makes me sick to know we have people in the company like this lady who don't do their research, when it is their job. If she would look in our inventory system that every employee has access to and look at the advance details of the note II for verizon, she should see that her store has them on order with a provided street date.
Provide me with your stores location Equalizir and I'd be happy to check for you since she didn't.

Hi Jdedeaux,
Thanks for the info. Also thanks for looking up when they'll be getting them. Here's the address:
611 Mark's Street
Henderson, Nv.89014
I don't want to bash the salesperson because she was super nice and answered my other questions. I get very little help at this particular location. One year I came in to buy a new tv. I asked a girl to help me and she said she'd be right back. 5 minutes later she was talking to someone else. I had to get someone from a different department. It really sucked.
So thanks again, I really appreciate it.

Jdedeaux,
Would we be able to go to a Best Buy tonight, and prepurchase or put a deposit down on one of these to guarantee pickup for tomorrow?
Any idea if the stores in Reston, Tyson's Corner or Alexandria Virginia will have any in stock tomorrow (specifically, Grey)?
Thanks!

Yes, the Verizon Note 2 has been available to preorder for a couple weeks now. You basically purchase a $50 gift card from them for the right to have one reserved. The are only taking reservations for the white ones.

^^ This. Most stores don't realize we are doing pre sales on them. As far as only the white ones I cant confirm that - but all your store "should" have them in stock tomorrow - as far as how many I can't say .... just go camp the door @ 9/10am.

Thanks again. Does Best Buy price match Verizon Wireless if I'm buying off-contract? I know theirs will be $100 more expensive, but I have $400 in gift cards burning a hole through my pocket (of course, they won't know that until I walk up to the register).
You don't want them to price match Verizon. You want them to price match ATT or Wal-Mart. I think I've read Wal-Mart was cheaper too.

Yes, best buy will price match off contract prices for the exact same model as long as verizon has it in stock and it is a corporate verizon store, not a third party verizon store.

Lol...what??? Best Buy WILL NOT price match a verizon galaxy note II for an ATT Galaxy note II. Two different products despite the same name. Wal-Mart though will suffice, again as long as it is the SAME CARRIER, and they have it in stock.
Don't forget to get bestbuys monthly protection plan on your phone. Unlimited claims , no deductibles, 9.99 a month, can cancel at anytime. Covers water, accidental damage, screen breaks, etc. etc.
The Verizon Galaxy Note 2 is on WWW.BESTBUY.COM now!!! Check your store via zip code and see if they have it in stock (most stores "should")! Both white and titanium grey!!!!
I went to my local best buy this morning and the salesperson said they haven't gotten them in yet. She said probably sometime next week.

Just called best buy, they will hold one for me, but I can't find any add (for price match) lower than $699.99 from Verizon web page. I did some searching, but can't find anything. If someone don't mind helping me, please post a link with a cheaper price tag! That would be great!!! Thanks in advance.

Best buy just outright refused to price match off contract, and told me that they aren't even supposed to be selling them off contract. I bought the white one, but I'll use it for 3 weeks, return it for my money back, and then force them to price match whatever price Verizon is selling theirs at. I was pissed, but bent over a barrel since I wanted the phone.

Did you ask to speak to a mobile manager or a general manager? That's absurd that they wouldn't price match it. We are ALWAYS willing to sell phones off contract. This goes back to my original post about poor workers in this company. We are currently in the season for price matching, it is even on the new we are price matching AMAZON.

Sorry bud, do you have any other stores closer?
The phone is out, I picked up mine at Best Buy earlier today.
Hi!
I'll be in NYC on a vacation later this year (I live outside the US). I really want to buy Nexus 4 but I don't want to buy it from the Play Store because I'm not sure what the delivery options are. Since I'm a tourist I don't want to spend parts of a day in my apartment waiting for a courier.
So I think the solution would be to buy from a walk-in store in NYC. I need the phone to be unlocked obviously and free of contracts.
Can anyone recommend such a store?
Is T-Mobile selling no contract Nexus phones?
Thanks,
uh huh. quite the markup though. I believe they are running a promo on it for $50 on contract right now though, so I'm not sure how that's affecting tmo's supply if you're looking to be able to just pick one up. Lotta tmo stores in nyc though...

I'm not sure what you mean about the markup - I don't understand your answer .
It doesn't really help me that there a lot of Tmobile stores and that they're running a promo for contracts, because I was pretty specific about the fact that I live outside the US and looking for a non contract deal.
Also, I mentioned it'll be "later this year" so the fact that there's a promo now doesn't really say anything about the stock situation later this year.
Anyone with a good answer?
Thanks

The dude is on vacation to US and u r asking him to buy a US-based contract phone, where he will have to show himself as US citizen to purchase the contract-based phone and then pay monthly bills?
Way to go.:good:
Both the op and filthykid need to go and read ziddey`s reply because i understand it perfectly instead of being antagonistic to him.
He stated yes it is available but there is a markup so not the price in play store.
He said there was a current promo on contract phones so that may affect supply of non contract(he never said go and buy a contract)
He said there are loads of tmobile stores in NYC-so shouldn`t be an issue finding one.
As for later in the year- get a crystal ball.
Yes they do but they're like twice as much as they are on the Play Store. I'd advise purchasing it there for 350 USD. Don't buy them on eBay, Amazon, or Swappa because people sell them for twice the Play Store price to take advantage of people when Google's Nexus 4 inventory is empty.

Ive been waiting to use my upgrade since last october and now that the s4 has been announced ive been patiently waiting.......but it seems like there will no longer be any subsidized phones is that correct? so my best bet is to upgrade to the note 2 now and sell it and just buy the s4 cash.
So i just wanted to make sure that is the case from now on.
They'll sell you a phone for a small amount down and monthly payments added to your bill if you prefer to work that way.
The difference between that and the old subsidized plans is that the extra monthly fee will disappear when the phone is paid off, instead of turning into pure profit for the carrier.

The one exception are National Retailers (Target, Walmart and Best Buy), who will offer "Classic Plans" instead of "Value Plans";
http://www.tmonews.com/2013/03/t-mo...-classic-available-at-all-national-resellers/
Personally, I wouldn't get a phone from my carrier, a TV from my cable company, a laptop from my ISP.
That's what Google Play and Amazon are for.
Coming back from one of my local T-Mobile stores I was able to find out that Nexus 6 stock should be coming in a few days before the 12th (some state as much as 4/5 days before release). That said the Reps will be able to have and use a Demo model that while not all Retailers will have a kiosk ready for to use, you can ask to try it out before release!
My local Store specifically stated that Next Monday (The 10th) will likely be the date of when the shipment will come in for most stores (Demo units and stock prep for the release on the 12th).
I suggest anyone who has any last minute reservations about the Nexus 6 to go into your local T-Mobile Store early next week to see if they have a demo model ready to show off and use!
We are not supposed to bring out any type of demo until release. Of course there are stores who do not follow policy. No one really knows when that stock will come until they get an email for the next days shipment.
If that's the case, pre-orders better be shipping out before demo units.

FYI to all those interested, the T-Mobile phone will likely be the same as the play store. However, Verizon and Sprint likely won't allow it on their network. The play store Nexus 6 should have it's IMEI in everyone's system, but I doubt you will be able to get a T-Mobile purchased Nexus 6 activated on Sprint or Verizon. At least not without some work.

Asking or calling the store. There's no online resource for this. There's franchises, resellers . those stores want to make money on account not just sales of devices. They'll refuses off contract phone sales, specially on hot items. Some people on here will tell you they have but they could be living in another part of the country, different stores, etc. You're welcome to call and ask your local stores but don't be surprised if they say no.

I recently went to a different store when the Note 4 came out and asked (to see if I still could buy it outright). I hope they sell them in stores because that way I can just go buy one, or at least play around with it. I'm still waiting for a video showing the Note 5 along side the 6p in a direct screen comparison. I'm torn between those two devices.
Not that we know of. You can get them from the Play Store (Currently sold out) or from Huawei at http://www.gethuawei.com/nexus6p
If your looking for a way to pay for it monthly you can get it financed via Huawei.
I still owe $300 plus on my Nexus 6 that I got last year. Can't use jump unless T-Mobile sells the phone themselves.
Some alternative financing options:
You could always JUMP to the LG 450 (currently the cheapest phone you can JUMP with). Pay off the $60 cost of the LG and now you're done with the N6, also if you cancel JUMP you save $10 per month. Of course you could always sell the N6 on Craigslist or Ebay.
Then you could either start a payment plan on a 6P from Huawei though Affirm (they do charge interest...)or order the 6P through Project Fi and use their interest free monthly payments.
