[Q] Brightness Slider? - Nexus 10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Just curious..I have been searching for reviews and screenshots but I cannot seem to find it. Does anyone know or seen any screenshots to determine if the N10 has a brightness slider by default?
Thanks!

I'm sure it will be no problem to add one later.

No brightness slider in stock android. However it must be easy to add one using an app or a mod.

Quick settings. Brightness is a slider.

Brightness widget

I have noticed one thing that is missing from bada is a widget to easily change screen brightness. Would appreciate it if a skilled developer could create one.

Does anyone else have problems with the 'slide finger on status bar to change brightness' not working in cm7?

You're not alone. I like that CM7 has that feature, but sometimes it's very buggy I guess. Sometimes it works, sometimes it does.
I have never been able to get this to work, and I have even increased the LCD density to ridiculous levels just to have a larger bar to swipe on.

OK, at least I know it's not just me. I even tried tuning off status bar dead area thinking it might be that.
Any alternatives for changing brightness on the fly?

yeah, the status bar brightness doesn't really work vary well for me ether. I had to add a brightness toggle power widget to the notification bar. brightness mode at auto / dim / 25% /50% / 75% / 100%
There's a really great app developed specifically for CM7 on the Nook called RecentPlus over in the themes and apps forum. It replaces your long press home with a recent apps dialog that contains recent apps, plus brightness and volume sliders.
Recent plus fits the job rather nicely, thanks for the suggestion.
Wish is defaulted to brightness slider instead of volume, or remembered your last choice... But now I'm nit picking.

Hit the settings button once you're in the app and those options are available

[Q] how to lower brightness to lowest in a sense build?

The system display settings won't allow it, but some apps can (aldiko reader)?
Is there a way to make the sytem brightness go lower?

Try "screen filter", find it on the market. It works great for me.

Go settings-screen-uncheck auto brightness and set it using slider.

Sure, but even with the slider on lowest it's not even close to lowest.
I downloaded some apps and they work, but I'd like to jave it working without needless 3rd party apps

Xoom Status Bar Brightness?

Hi folks - My Dad - all 75 years of techno geek in him - just got a Xoom.
He loves Android (on his EVO & trying to learn the Xoom) but his eyes can't seem to see the status bar down @ the bottom clearly.
It looks dim. Is there way to adjust the brightness for the status bar (particularly the lower right one)?
Thanks.
I don't think there is. It just uses the standard screen brightness setting so its the full screen or nothing I think.

Thanks for the input.
From the lack of responses, I tend to think this isn't a huge issue for people. LOL!
We did adjust the brightness for the screen & it didn't seem to make much of an incremental difference.
Try one of the themes that brighten it up.
Touchwiz is brighter, I'm sure the red theme is brighter as well.

Hmmm...will look for it. Thanks for the idea.
If you're going to use a theme, you will have to convince him to let you root his XOOM.
If you want to go that route and don't feel like installing a completely new theme, I can make a brighter version of the stock control buttons for you. The clock font brightness is not editable at this time since hnytool hasn't been updated for 3.2, however.
As far as colors go, green is easiest and brightest seen by the human eye. Try the green theme.

any mod of some sort or something?

As far as I know its not possible, its really bright on 100% as it is. Some of the percieved darkness might be due to the color calibration by LG.
Some custom roms/kernels support change the color calibration.
Install Lux app from Google Play store. It's awesome auto brightness app!
