Just like trurl3* report I find a regression compared to the CM 7.2 rom in term of charging duration when the phone is plugged on USB. In one hour I only gain something aroud 15%.

I understand that the HD2 with NAND Android will not charge when switched off as the charging requires a programme (running) to control it.
I notice that my handset now charges very, very slowly. It is running a Desire ROM ([30 DEC][DFT]LEO "Stock Desire" NAND Android ROM) so would I be right in thinking that the charging is taking so long because the ROM is designed to manage a different battery / charging rate? If so is there any update I can do to correct the charging rate?
I know other people have had issues with phone's not properly recognising when battery's are full or empty - I don't seem to have that problem just that it charges slowly.
Apologies if this has been discussed previously - I did several searches but amongst the several thousand results couldn't find a specific answer to this problem.
On Magldr 1.13 your phone will boot up to charge. Still no switch off capability to charge as far as i know
Hi, thanks for that but the question was more about the speed of charge - is it MAGLDR then that manages the charge rate rather than any ROM?
Battery won't charge
I'm also having an issue where if the battery charge is too low that it won't accept a charge. Is there any way to get my battery charged without an external charger?

Find another handset that will contact the battery correctly and charge it that way. I used a TyTNII to charge a Tattoo battery when my daughter mangled the USB connection on her handset. Battery wasn't exactly the same but the terminals were similar so held it in place with (daughters) hair bands to charge. Or else find someone else with an HD2. Can you get desktop chargers for the battery I wonder?
@800jimbo:
what do You mean saying slow? My HD2 with NAND Android get full at ~2h (using charger). I thing it's quite normal. How long is Your phone charging?
You can try CurrentWidget and post its stats - I thing it shows mA when charging (me shows ~800-900mA when charging).
@arhogs64:
You mean charging with USB connection to computer? USB port can only 500mA and it's quite low so charging can take some time...

Charging slow - when it's in the car cradle using Copilot after a 2 hour drive the charge level has barely moved if at all. When I used Copilot before Android (when on WM) it would charge the phone over the same journey. I'm assuming therefore that the charge is reduced such that it barely exceeds consumption now with 'stuff' running. Or perhaps I'm looking at it the wrong way and the charging is the same but the current draw is more on Android?
Slow battery Drain
You really just need to find the combination of Radio and ROM. When I finally got that right I was able to charge very quickly.
Slow battery Drain
I am using BlueTopia and Leo_RADIO_2.15.50.14. I had tried about 10 combinations before this one worked for me. Now I get about 2ma drain, very fast charging and long battery life.
1) GPS reciever draw a lot of energy. Try CurrentWidget to obtain real energy draw when using CoPilot and not (CW can record stats).
2) Almost all Android apps are running in VM so energy draw can be bigger than Windows Mobile < 7 (executing just CPU code without interpretation, GarbageCollector and JIT in background). Non stop running CoPilot can heave use CPU and car lighter might be to weak to balance energy draw.
Well with Magldr 1.13,Markinux 1.7.1 Rom all day wifi on, Sync on playing an hour Angry birds i get about 30hours battery. It takes 2 hours to charge. Usb charge is slower but you get a better charge thats what some people say!

You are right - USB charging is better because accu likes low currency (and that why so called "fast charging" with high current is not recomended - faster accu degradation). But wall charger gives only <= 1000mA (default USB port ~500mA) so it's not big diff and is quite safe for accu.
Hello community.
I am experiencing this problem since around three weeks. My Nexus 7 won't charge with full speed, I even think it is only charging with lower than the half of the rated 2 amps of the stock charger, or even less. As you can see in the attached screenshot, it behaves like it is receiving zero to none power, but the status sais it is in fact charging... I am using CoolTool to monitor the charge rate. While the screen is on and my tablet is just sitting there idle, it is "charging" with about -50mA (slowly discharging) and while watching youtube videos, it discharges with about 450mA. While the screen is off, it actually charges with arond 400mA MAX. While I was typing this it discharged with around 300mA.
I have not checked the resistance of the stock charger nor the cable, and I have yet to try making myself another fastcharge cable.
I am using the stock charger with the stock charging cable, and I recently upgraded to the latest SlimRom and FauxKernel.
Is this some kind of software failure or is my tablet/charger/cable broken?
Is someone experiencing similar problems?
(I have problems uploading pictures, google drive must be sufficient)

All i can think of is ur using low amp charger try using official 2.1amp charger that came with the device.
Please ignore my spelling mistakes. English is not my native language.
hey guys i bought my niece a 2012 nexus 7 it has the axus charge with different usb cable but it charge so slow
i was wondering if there is a rom with better charging speed
i havent root and is wifi version
What does "so slow" mean? As in, how many minutes to change 10% in charge?
One thing you can do to troubleshoot things is to see how long it takes to charge the tablet when it is completely shut off. It should be pretty obvious that "the ROM" has absolutely nothing to do with that scenario. Wait till the tablet is discharged to about 10%, shut it off, and charge it for 90 minutes. If it is charging normally it will be close to 70% charge when you boot it back up.
If your tablet charges slowly in that case, then there is a problem with the charger, cable, or battery in the tablet - not the ROM. So, you should surely check that out first before you start worrying about software.
A nominal N7 (2012, WiFi) will charge from 5% to 100% in about 150 minutes: 2.5 hours. That's with a STOCK ROM. If you look at the battery capacity, that works out to a minimum 1.73A charging rate. (4.325 Amp-hours / 2.5 hours = 1.73 A). It's actually higher than that because a certain amount of charging current is "lost" to heat generation while charging.
The tab will ALWAYS charge slower than that if it is in use, especially if the screen is on and the owner is doing things like streaming data or playing games. If it is under heavy use, the tablet itself could easily dissipating 1.0 A of current... so in that case the 2.5 hour charging time would be over twice as long: over 5 hours.
The "fast charge" ROMs are not what you are thinking. "fast charge" there means "fast charge under conditions normally restricted to low currents when data transfer is taking place". If you are using a charge-only cable (such as the OEM charger and cable), the tablet should always be able to draw close to 2A of current with ANY ROM - there is no data connection present, and the tablet is not restricted in the current it can draw.
The ROMs don't really throttle the battery charging rate except in that very specific condition: when there is a data connection present. So, worrying about which ROM is installed really only applies to people that want to use a Y-cable and a live USB data connection (tethering or an OTG gadget attached) - for instance in car installs or maybe with data tethering via USB.
good luck

Get a better cable. I was using a third party cable on my Nexus 7 for a while and realized it was only charging about 10-15%/hr.. Changed the cable out for a better one and it charges at the normal rate now, 30%/hr or so.
Do check for loose connections for both battery connector and usb ribbon connector (under speakers). I’ve opened the back cover to check after slow charging problems and was solved by opening and clipping back the usb ribbon connector. Charging's back to normal now.

Solved. The surgery went fine, actually just unplug/replug the battery
and now tablet is charging fine, but only when on. If I turn it off and plug the power cable
I have the onscreen b&w animation of a charging battery but not even 1% increase over the night.
Might consider finding a replacement sooner or later.

Hi every body
My nexus behaves strangely regarding battery charging, I've tried different cables/chargers same result. I've emptied cache, no result.
Actually here's where I am: When the nexus is plugged with original cable+charger, Battery Monitor says plugged, discharging.
The flow shows a negative mA value. I tried charging the tablet while it's turned off, full night.
Sometimes I managed to get a full charge, sometimes only 5% increase during the whole night.
The usb port seems ok, I can plug it on a computer, copy files both ways, speed is ok. But still no charging.
I've read lots of forum posts concerning battery problems with nexus7, my understanding is that I'm facing
a hardware problem, not software. I have to open it and clean/check the link beetween usb port and the battery charging circuit.
Is there something else I can try before trying surgery?
thx
I'm facing problems with charging my phone for a long time. I've already tried some roms but my phone doesn't charge in any of those, staying on the same % for a long time and sometimes decreasing it. I've tried many chargers, and all of them show high numbers on Ampere App and charge normally another phones, but not mine. When sometines I can charge, the battery has a nice duration on using, but to charge it is very slow, to get out of 0% take hours, sometimes doesn't even starts to charge. Anyone knows what I should do to repair this? There is any rom that the charging is normally with no kernel changes or something?
