how to make stock Android browser more compact - Galaxy Note 10.1 General

I like to use the stock Android browser because I can do the split screen thing. Problem is, the default settings take up way too much space for the URL bar, menu bar, etc and leaves less room for actual browser content. Is there some way to change to a more compact theme?

settings - labs - first checkbox
(or you could try dolphin browser)

Thanks!!

I like Chrome, but I think it's laggy compared to stock browser.
With some editing you can make any browser run in multi window. Search XDA.

Default browser

Is there a way to change the default browser so the bookmark widget shows my bookmarks from Dolphin HD and not the standard browser?

U can add a bookmark to the homescreen and then open it with the dolphin browser.. if im right it will ask u with what browser it want to open it, then u choose dolphin. if it doesnt ask, u go to settings, applications, all applications, dolphin, scroll a bit down then clear default settings.
U click the bookmark again and it will ask
I don't think you can have the widget open the default browser.
They have a bookmark widget for Dolphin, but the reviews aren't that great.

[Q] Websites displaying in mobile

How do I get my defy to always display websites in desktop format?
I went into my browser, went to about:debug, went to UA string, and changed my options to desktop.
However, most pages still load the mobile sites. Any idea on how to fix this?
What browser are you using? Most have a user agent setting in browser settings.

Major websites will have an option to switch to their desktop version.
Dolphin Browser, Opera, Chrome and most every browser has a specific option, just look in the settings or at the bottom of the startpage, you should notice a label for display in mobile or desktop.

Click to collapse
I am using the default browser and would prefer not to download a different browser. Is there a way to set it so that it always displays websites in desktop mode?

[Q]No fullscreen on browser?

Hey guys is it just my device or does the browser not go fullscreen? It did on my s3. And every other samsung app even music for some reason goes fullscreen. Is there a way to at least hide the nav bar?

In the browser, go to Settings -> Accessibility then check the option for full screen :good:

It hides notification not nav bar
I installed a Touchwiz ROM last night and just discovered that the Samsung browser doesn't do full screen. Anyone know of any custom ROMs that have a fix for this? I tried dolphin browser but the scrolling was to stuttery for me.
I would like to know what the deal is, too. The new browser seems nerfed. No real fullscreen and the option to open in background tabs is gone. The browser on my S2 was better in usage.

Since scrolling is an app-specific thing and implemented differently from app to app (and thus from browser to browser) it won't work.
iOS has and allows only one browser engine, so it's easy to implement such a feature there.
Try to use two finger to slide up.
Boom! You will scroll up to top..
*Using stock browser.
