I assume you mean your micro SD card, right? If so, then no, it won't alter your root at all. The root-related stuff is all in the phone's internal non-removable memory.

Just to be sure, you could try removing the sd card and booting it before wiping the card, so you can test non-destructively...

[Q] Apps to SD question

If I have flash ROM #1, install apps and move them to my sd card then flash ROM #2 and re-install the same apps again what happens to them when I move them to my sd card again?
Do they overwrite the original apps moved to the sd card or do they get placed in another location, therefore taking up twice as much space on my sd card?

That would explain why my sd card seemed to lose capacity so quickly. Is the only way to regain space to format my sd card? Or can I just delete a specific folder?
Use Astro or File Expert to eliminate duplicates on your sdcard or phone thru data/apps or system/apps
If you create an ext partition however and flash a new rom all you would need to do is full wipe, the ext partition restores all your apps/games
Course i use dark tremor apps2sd which not everyone needs and move data/data to sd and same with cache partition to sd.

Swap it expander issue

i have a partion on my sd card using swapit ram expander for increasing rom
now i want to change my sd card
so if i just move the swap file from previous sd card to the new one
will it work?
No, you must delete the swap ram on your current sd card first then create a new swap ram on your new sd card
Don't forget to hit thanks!

If you're partitioning your SD Card to use swap, backup all your files, delete all partitions using EaseUS Partition Manager (Windows, obviously). Then create the new partition with FAT32 filesystem.

I don't know, but formatting SD Card will remove it since you can't find the swap file in your SD Card.

Mac Software for Partitioning SD card?

I've rooted my S4, and now I'm trying to partition the SD card so that I can use link2sd and free up some more space. Does anyone know how to do this using a Mac??
Many thanks in advance!

Ahh yes, I forgot to mention...I already found that guide, but on twrp 3.0.0.0 there is no such option...

A resize option may appear only after you have formatted the sd card using twrp.

Oh, okay. I might try that...how certain is this 'may appear'? I'm concerned about losing stuff...if I backup my SD card onto computer through a file manager, will it back up EVERYTHING or could I still lose some data?

You just copy everything from the sd card onto the pc. Android apps usually store their data on the internal storage, so the sd card has only files that you put there.
I recently formatted my /data partition as ext4 and after the format there was a resize option, which wasn't there before formatting.

I wiped my SD card using TWRP, but still there is no 'resize' option

As I was saying, I used the "change file system" option to format my data partition, and that gave me the resize option.

Ahh okay, got it. But with this method, is there a way to choose the size of the partition? When I click on 'resize', there are no settings - just a 'swipe to confirm'...
Also, when I turned on my phone I still have no extra internal memory, and the SD card is not found. I try to mount the SD card from Settings -> Storage, but it just says "Blank SD card"...

Is Adoptable Storage Encrypted?

Hi everyone, I used a 200GB card to create adoptable storage on my S7 edge using the ADB method. Could anyone tell me if the storage is automatically encrypted, or if we have to encrypt the SD card first, and then format it to get the benefits of encryption?
yes

Sorry, just to confirm, it Is automatically encrypted? So if I removed it and want to use it elsewhere I would need to reformat the card?

It's possible, but you must be sure to never get the SD card ejected while the phone is on 'cause it'll be linked to the swap partition of your internal storage, and I don't know what could happen. If I remember, there is an app to link partitions, but i don't know how to use it. The only thing that I now is that you must format your SD card and make a partition table to make the swap partition.
