Is there anyone on any network who has got Tango update? If there is then I would kindly request you to pack it up and upload the ROM for guys like us who are still stuck on Mango.
I have a Network Unlocked C900
It is full unlocked
Telstra ROM Flashed
Any experienced member>??
I also noticed that there are no cooked ROM available for C900 any special reason? Or is it because everyone has AT&T?
as far as I know, there are no coocked roms beckause LG C900 Quantum has a locked bootloader or something like that.
I'm seeking for Tango update for this phone too, no matter what rom is (maybe Telestra is bettere if AT&T would keep the wifi sharing out of Tango too), but I can just find forum with requests, even on official AT&T forum, and no answer.
The phone IS elegible for the update, it has 512MB of ram too, so it won't be even castrated.
There are official Tango CAB on the net, unbranded, but since we have an hardware keyboard I'm afrait that those firmwares update won't let us support it...
There are a few people pn the Qunatum thread who claim they have received Tango update via Microsoft OTA. I wonder why don't they extract it from there phone pack it up and upload. So far only 4 people responded to poll. All 4 have mango. Is there any1 who has tango!
Wish more people would participate. THough the device is 1st Gen, compared to Lumia 510,610,710 the config of our phone lags only at GPU. THe games I have seen so far are running smoothly on it. It's the people who have left this for a more "Shiny" phone. Ohhh...Look pick, blue, crimson...shiny
MFG Registry Editor
You could always try to carrier-unlock your phone via the MFG registry editor. You would also receive the Tango update and then you could do whatever you want to try to backup/extract the ROM from your phone. That's what worked for my wife's phone.
http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/lg-quantum/142477-hacks-using-mfg-app-debrand-update-unlock-relock.html
Step "8" under the Debranding Hack is slightly wrong. Do NOT leave that field blank. Set it to 000-88 - as shown in the NoDo update hack list.
LG "Debranding" Hack
1. Enable the MFG application by going to the dialer and dialing ##634# then pressing call.
2. Launch the MFG application and enter 277634#*# when prompted for a password.
3. Select the Engineer Menu item.
4. Select the Other Setting menu item.
5. Select the Edit registry menu item.
6. Set the input boxes on this menu as follows:
Select ROOT_PATH: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
Input SUB_PATH: \System\Platform\DeviceTargetingInfo\
Input KEY: MobileOperator
Data Type: STRING
7. Select Query and write down the result in case you need to re-brand for some reason.
8. To debrand just leave the input data field blank and select SET. The tool will say fail but it really did set correctly.You can now connect to Zune and check for updates.
Zune will update phone to pre-nodo
How To Get Nodo Update
(Debranded phone with pre-nodo update required see above)
1. Launch the MFG application and enter 277634#*# when prompted for a password.
2. Select the Engineer Menu item.
3. Select the Other Setting menu item.
4. Select the Edit registry menu item.
5. Set the input boxes on this menu as follows:
Select ROOT_PATH: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
Input SUB_PATH: \System\Platform\DeviceTargetingInfo\
Input KEY: MobileOperator
Data Type: STRING
Input DATA: type "000-88" in box and hit SET
6. Connect phone to computer and follow this guide (Thanks Noticed at XDA)

I installed Asukal's MUI (Thanks Asukal, really useful...)
However installing skype... leads me to a japanese version of skype... Whatever I do... Whcih is reallya pain for me !
Anybody had this problem ? Some ideas on how to fix it ?
I've installed Skype on my X01HT now twice, once with the JasJam rom, and once with the new Softbank Rom, using Askuls hack.
The key is that I downloaded the CAB file directly from Skypes site, and then executed it on the phone after transferring it to the card. If you're having trouble getting to the english version of the skype site from in Japan, just scroll to the bottom, and select the english language version of the page. It took me awhile to find it, but you'll eventually get the language of the page, and program of your choice. Good luck!

Unfortunately that's what I did (get the cab from my PC, on the English website)
Anyway if it worked for you, it should work for me
So I am going to give it a try once again ! (And check each step this time !)
Skype CE is multilingual application, no matter what you install, it seems to check your localization settings on startup and change language according to it. On my x01ht I had to open Skype in Japanese and than change language in Skype options...
It should not be hard, just follow these steps (I assume no WiFi available):
1. Open Skype
1a. If you get warning that you can only use cellular network, accept it (I don't remember which button, try left)
2. Sing in with your username and password, tap サインイン button
3. Confirm WiFi not available windw (OK)
4. Go to menu (メニュー)
5. Go to setup menu (設定 (E))
6. Select English language in language menu (言語), confirm OK, OK
7. Exit Skype, menu (メニュー), exit (終了(G))...
At next Skype start, everything should be in English...
I just want to share my experience with you. I had to change my phone number thus required a PRL reprogram. Because I am running the latest NFSROM with WM6.5, the instructions from Bell (in Canada) would not work. Someone on this forum said that he had to revert to the original firmware from Bell and then flash back. However, I found the way to do it with out reverting back or even a hard reset:
-Run PST program under \Windows
-Choose edit and Enter your lock code (call MST). This should have been given to you on the Bell instruction. I heard the Verizon one is 000000. For Spring you can find the getpst program.
-Change the MSID to your new phone number on the default Display page.
-Change the Mobile Directory Number (MDN) on the NAM page to your new number as well.
-Make sure that all other relate fields i.e. MINs, MMC, MNC, NMSI, IMSI ... is correct. They should be changed automatically after you change the MSID and the MDN number.
-Quit the program. It will ask if you want to reset the phone. Say yes.
At this point, your phone should work. However, the aGPS might not be working. You will get fix via the internal GPS but it will take a long time because aGPS is not working properly. If this happen, install the Bell Carrier Cab here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=3680840#post3680840
I imaging the procedure is very similar on other carriers.
You are a life saver! THANK YOU!

Updated to the new FAQ post. Thanks for letting me know.
Do I just need to follow these steps...
1. Install WP7 sdk Windows Phone Developer Tools;
2. Install zune;
3. Make partneship with zune and phone;
4. Attach the ChevronWP7.cer(you found in the toolkit) to your email and send the email to your email itself (On PC);
5. Login to your email account (On Phone), Open the email, Select attachment and install the cert;
6. Connect your phone to pc and make sure zune is running in background;
7. Run the unlocker (ChevronWP7.exe) and click unlock button(Make sure your phone date is set correctly)
(you need to close skype and disable network adapter.. hamachi.. wireless.. Dropbox.. etc)
6. Install toms .xap installer;
7. Deploy Connection Setup.xap, Touch Xplorer.xap and XBMODDeployer.xap (Install it on the phone and run XBMODDeployer.xap);
8. Copy the .provxml from the ringtons folder to the windows folder (on the phone using touch explorer app);
9. Run connection setup to install the .provxml;
10. Call Microsoft helpdesk and ask them an activating key for your hd2 (don't pm me for the key)
11. Setup up your live ID and enter the activation code (on the phone).

And then LIVE services would be working? Cause did it and its not, but im not sure if its just the LIVE account i signed up with, cause i signed in with the one i used for my Xbox Live account. Which happens to be a gmail account. I never received an email when i typed in the activation code. I cant change my current Windows Live account on my phone without having to reset it.
If i figure all i need to do is create a new Windows Live account from Live.com, reset my phone, and then sign in with that email and type in the activation code.
Does that sound right? I'm just double checking. Cause I'm confused.
Does the Windows Live account have to be linked to an Xbox Live account for it to work. I'm assuming it has to be "@live.com"
I just reset my phone and had to go through the whole unlocking process. Then I clicked Xbox Live and created an account from there. It had me type in the 25 digit activation key I acquired from calling ms. After that I figured I should be able to use the marketplace, but it comes up with this message everytime i try to download something.
Can't get this info right now. Check back in a little while.

Is my account going through a verification process or something why do I have to wait? Or possibly could the activation key be wrong, but wouldn't it of said something if it was?
Sorry for being so consistent. I was just trying to get it done tonight, but ill just be patient. Please and Thank You XDA
In your phone, go to "Settings", then "About" and see what is the model shown. If it's LEO70, then that's the problem. Your phone should show HTC HD7 T9292.
So either you haven't applied the correct reg hack, or you used the "package" in one of the early threads which includes everything you need. That package has a bug in one of the registry keys, an extra space in one of the keys. This is the keys as they should be:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\Platform\DeviceTargetingInfo]
"OemName"="HTC"
"MODeviceName"="HD7 T9292"
"OEMDeviceName"="Schubert"
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Ident]
"FriendlyName"="HTC HD7"
(The buggy package tries to install a key for "DeviceTarget Info" - extra space).

Can you send me a link to thread or a video that shows how to fix this problem?
Your device needs to be dev-unlocked for this to work. Use the first two steps below to unlock. If you have already unlocked, skip to step 3.
First, download the WP SDK developer tools from here. You'll need them to be able to sideload and install the necessary XAP files.
You will need to developer unlock your device using the instructions here. It was tricky for me, as it took the better part of an hour as well as a hard reset to get the Chevron unlocker to communicate with the phone.
Download the attached .zip file below, and deploy the TouchXplorer, HTC Connection Setupfiles and ChevronWP7.Ringtones.xap from this package onto your device. I have inserted the proper .xap to change the carrier setting in the registry.
Run the ChevronWP7.Ringtones.xap and wait till it displays “Ringtones added… and CustClear.provxml underneath”
Run the TouchXplorer app, navigate to My Documents/My Ringtones click on CustClear.provxml and select Copy from the Application Bar.
Navigate back inside TouchXplorer to the Windows folder.
Select paste from the Application Bar, this should scroll right to the bottom and put a copy of CustClear.provxml in the Windows folder.
Now run the Connection Setup application and click on the Ok button (it’s the one with the tick).
Follow the directions here, but after disabling the the data connection on your device, wait 5 seconds and then hang up the VPN connection. The update will almost immediately appear. (Suggestion came from CR1M1N4L. Thanks!) YOU MAY ONLY GET THE PRE-NODO UPDATE AT THIS POINT. If so, you'll need to repeat step 9 after you've updated to get NoDo.
Run the update from Zune and enjoy your NoDo Surround.
Can confirm this worked for me on a Telus Surround.
Confirmed
Yeap it work for me too on AT&T
Updated first post with proper ringtones.xap.
Worked!
This worked great! Thanks for the info.
I also discovered after following this tut that you can quite easily get your own ring tones following these steps. Apologies if someone has already posted this.
1. Select a sound file (MP3 and WMA seem to both work) and email it to yourself.
2. When you receive the email on your phone, tap the attachment to download it completely.
3. Tap the sound file to open it.
4. Tap the Home button.
5. Open TouchXplorer and navigate to Volitile\EmailAttachments
6. There will be sub folders depending on how many attachments you have recently opened but serch through them until you find your sound file.
7. Tap the sound file once to highlight it then select Copy.
8. Navigate to My Documents\My Ringtones and paste the sound file there.
9. You should now be able to select your sound file as a ring tone.
Worked for me. At least I hope so. It's currently at 58% on step 7
Edit: It's complete and it works, but it seems it's relocked my phone. Not a big deal for me since I only unlocked it to do the update. Still, I haven't been able to unlock it. Just a warning for those with side loaded apps. It made me uninstall touch explorer. Funny thing, I haven't had a desire to unlock this phone in general until the nodo update, though unlocking and flashing was the thing I loved about winmo, which i used from the HTC 8125 through the Tilt/Kaiser.
Outstanding, folks...just outstanding.
it worked for me too.
but i used different solution.
Solution 2: Using a VPN dialup connection, here, after i connected to the VPN i disconnected my internet and continued, i instantly received my update even without turning cellural connection off
In case anyone was having trouble finding the info, I just thought I would put everything together and make it easy. Sorry if im re-posting anyones info, just seemed a bit spread out. Obviously anything you do is at your own risk, but if you follow it to the letter, you cant go wrong.
I can confirm all of this works.
And as far as the unlock, I didn't unlock my phone until AFTER I got NoDo. And yes, it DOES stay unlocked. Ive already tested, and obviously because of that, side-loading still works as well. You wont need the chevron unlock program anymore, plus it doesnt seem to be working well for alot of people now anyways since NoDo, but the Chevron Ringtone Manager works GREAT without that once you go through the process. Just leave out the part about the Chevron7 unlock tool.
LG "debranding" hack
1. Enable the MFG application by going to the dialer and dialing ##634# then pressing call.
2. Launch the MFG application and enter 277634#*# when prompted for a password.
3. Select the Engineer Menu item.
4. Select the Other Setting menu item.
5. Select the Edit registry menu item.
6. Set the input boxes on this menu as follows:
Select ROOT_PATH: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
Input SUB_PATH: \System\Platform\DeviceTargetingInfo\
Input KEY: MobileOperator
Data Type: STRING
Input DATA: It is blank, but instead of leaving a blank, put in an empty space. As in actually hit the space key once.
Also, if you want to re-brand your phone after the update for AT&T your input should be ATT-US
7. Select Query and write down the result in case you need to re-brand for some reason.
8. To debrand just enter the same information above and leave the input data field blank. The tool will say fail but it really did set correctly.
You can now connect to Zune and check for updates.

While the unlock works as described and I can deploy applications on the phone I cannot debug from Visual studio. The application deploys and it can be manually run but I cannot debug. The following error displays when I hit F5
---------------------------
Microsoft Visual Studio
---------------------------
The application could not be launched for debugging. Ensure that the target device screen is unlocked and that the application is installed.
---------------------------
OK
---------------------------
Any ideas would be appreciated, I've tryied pretty much everything so far including a clean install of the latest VS + WP7 sdk and a factory reset of the phone.
Same here
I have the same issue with debugging that you do. The only way I've managed to resolve it was restoring to a pre NoDo backup, unlocking with Chevron and then updating to NoDo again. I can only guess that Chevron must do more than change that one registry key (or rather, that the phone does more than change that key when it's told by chevron to unlock) but unless we can figure out what that extra step is we're probably stuck.
Your Problem
Well, that is your problem right there, lol. Both of you mentioned using Chevron to unlock. If you are using Chevron to unlock, AND using MFG, well, chances are ur pissing it off somewhere. dont use both. MFG makes it so that you DO NOT NEED chevron with the LG Quantum, not to unlock. and everything else works just fine - the chevron ringtone thing, ect. Thats probably where ur extra step is... ur unlocking it two different ways and making it upset.

No Chevron in my case, I've only used the MFG on a NoDo updated phone. I don't think you can debug using only these registry keys. There is something else.
have you tried actually calling LG and talkin to tech support? I honestly cant think of anything myself... and ive been thinkin about it and working on it since it was brought to my attention. Its LG's software, they should know something.
I guess you could try a hard reset to see if anything happens
thanks for putting this up here. I've discovered this as well a while back and still find a lot of people with LGs that are being told to roll back or reset their phones after they got their NoDo in the WP7 forums. Many people believe what doesn't work with their device applies to all devices. Luckily for us LG included the registry editor right on the device
Your title should include that this works after NoDo and it should be made a sticky!
cheers
ps: you may want to include a reference to the original post by airwa1kin7 for your first part (link in my signature).
I have tried this several times but my phone still shows the following error when I use a SIM other than AT&T:
"This SIM card can only be used on specific networks. Contact your service center for the unlock code"
Any ideas on solving this would be appreciated
And does the "debranding hack" remove the AT&T boot screen?
-FIXED- Seems in my triple checking wasn't thorough enough, for the path's I was including "\" before the path and the whole string was showing HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\ (the \\ being my issue) just fyi for any other spacey people X)
I attempted the registry hacks to unlock, keep unlocked, and change app limit on my post NoDo AT&T quantum and triple checked my registry after connecting to my x64 win7 ultimate machine and trying to load my chevron prepared ringtone. With most package loaders I get an error of an app limit but I believe with Tom's XAP installer along with the chevron unlocking tool I tried after realizing the registry hack didn't work, I get a phone not detected error when it is clearly shown in Zune which I have open during the whole process. Could it be nodo interfering or an issue within windows? Should I try a restore and chevron post nodo? The debranding isn't required for the unlock to have an effect is it? Any advice would be appreciated as I get bored with these ringtones!
-Update: Error received when attempting to deploy XAP to device using Windows Phone Development Tools Application Deployment.
Error - Unable to install application. The maximum number of developer applications on this phone has been reached. Please uninstall a developer application and try again.
-Note: I have never been ABLE to install a developer application so I don't think it's possible I have any to uninstall. I have changed the app limit registry key and it seems to have no effect, unless the problem is that my phone isn't unlocked, would I get the same error if that were the issue? It is possible to unlock post NoDo with MFG right? Wish i could figure out how ...
When attempting with Tom's XAP installer it says Make sure your phone is unlocked, make sure you've connected device to pc and zune launched.
Seems to me the phone just isn't unlocking...
Is it possible to rollback to pre nodo amd attempt? would it better my odds?
its not removing the subsidiary lock from the phone. you are misunderstanding the information. when it debrands, the provider no longer has control over whether or not you get updates and such. the debrand does not remove the logo. check around, im sure someone has figured out how to do that. as far as the unlock goes, it is simply allowing sideloading. not moving over to another carrier. basically you are changing the code to a devel code. if you want to unlock, well i doubt it if that can be done just yet. check around, i might be wrong. but i know that the carriers are not going to release the unlock codes yet, but call your carrier, u might get lucky.
as far as the app limit change goes, the only devices i am aware of that working on at the moment is HTC, but that is only for sideloaded apps. debranding isint required for the unlock to work, but that still does not matter. at the moment, my understanding is that pre and post nodo there is a 10 sideload app limit on all LG devices. the HTC code may differ slightly for whatever reason. your problem is that is just is not possible to do more. when your computer says it needs to be unlocked, it is ALSO talking about your screen, not just the phone. if you are doing something like sideloading ringtones, remember, u can load them, then remove the app that installed them. uninstall, then reload, that way you dont end up filling it up. a developer app is anything you are attempting to sideload. anything you are not getting from the marketplace. it IS possible to unlock post no-do. sounds like u just have too many sideloaded apps. remove some, then try. and make sure your phone is on the start screen.

Another useful registry key: Allow max number of unsigned apps
Code:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\DeviceReg\Install]
"MaxUnsignedApp"=dword:7fffffff
jlott069, problem was i wasn't able to sideload any apps, so i couldnt have had too many installed. but problem resolved, thanks for the advice!
Now this is just crazy, reflashed my phone. and i hgot all the updates again, now i'm trying to unlock it and once again am having the same issues.... seems like it isn't unlocked after changing the registry keys
-fixed after resetting to factory defaults and trying just the unlock key, i think it has issues trying to do the unlock and 2 keep-unlock keys at the same time
Another odd thing i notcied and i'm not sure what causes it, but either after unlocking my phone or installing touchxperience, i lose the capability to browse the memory via USB mass storage (zune registry hack)
I still have that option, but I dont use touch experience, and i just still have it unlocked. I had to re-unlock it after my update to mango? I dont know why... but it unlocked just fine and im side-loading apps again with no problem. maybe the issue is in the zune registry hack? I duno...
