By developing do you mean apps or platform?
Apps: Refer to this. It will literally be your bible.
Platform: Don't know of many docs but here's a good start.
First start small and work your way up. You won't be making anything amazing to start off with for sure.

I think I was in 8th grade, my dad handed me a phone. "What's this for." "So I know where you are." "I'm at school or I'm at home." "Well now I'll KNOW!"
Had that phone till I was 19, then bought my first "feature"phone.

I have been very interested in starting to learn how to code for Android... more specifically, I want to eventually be able to make a port of a game to Android that is better then the current port I have a lot to learn though...
I downloaded Eclipse the other day, never got around to installing it. Soon though...

just had a guy at ppcgeeks tell me Android is to the mobile market what Linux is to the desktop market. talk about having your heads in the clouds. im soo glad i ditched winmo and moved to the hero. after seeing the disaster of wm7 today i made the right move.
Wow haha... that man has been misinformed obviously. MyTouch 3G? Droid? Nexus One? The only Android phone I could really say that would fit his description would be the Samsung moment (haven't heard of many people with one).

Cant and wont agree with the comment from the guy at PPG, however the 7 phone is far from a disaster and I fully believe that it will bring WinMo back from the dead...even more so than WebOS did for Palm. Its look features, and functionality beats the **** out of everything on the market except Android. Anyway, I'm with Android to stay (though maybe not Sence next time around).

Recovering the costs of new development, and gathering anticipated profits to MS (or any other large company) will have to be realized before any new stuff is released. So they will slow the industry momentum down in order to maximize the money that can make. Money is fine. Slowing everything down sucks.
Now they can slow things down by screwing up others, ie.. specifications for open systems designs and so forth.
Only when they see their customer base being reduced (-14% winmo) will they react.
Google on the other hand supplies a "cloud base" and should be impervious to change costs on platforms. That could mean the introduction of new platforms and system upgrades. Certainly a more open environment.

1, maybe 2 out of a good 30 i had...
I use the apps on my HTC everyday.
So looking at the bigger picture, you dont need the app store

Why can an iPhone dual-boot and a nexus can't? This just makes me mad...
I'm pretty sure iphone os on any android handset is never going to happen, since iphone os isn't open source.
That simple fact is going to make life a whole lot more difficult.
Plus, why would you want it anyway - the OS is the reason I got rid of my iphone (there's nothing wrong with the hardware)!!

legit. but is it just plain linux os or what?
The only other OS I would ever want to see on an Android device would be either Debian or Maemo. Preferably Maemo as it's such an amazing OS and it's completely open source and runs on a full linux kernel.
i would love to see iphone os 3 on the nexus also for the ability to run all those appz and games on our nexus.

Until this latest news the only thing Linux would do on an iphone was boot. There were no touch screen drivers or GUI or anything of the sort. The only interaction with it had to be done from a computer. Even though its on a first gen iphone thats a pretty big achievement.
You get it running on a 3G(s) since it is so easy.

I was just browsing the ATT site cause I'm due for an upgrade. The only phone running android other than the aria worth getting is the captivate, but I still love my aria and its gonna take one monster of a phone to get me away from it. Anyway, I stumbled on the aria's product page and read a few 1 star reviews from the "average" person... They generally hate this phone, they don't understand simple concepts... like using the phone correctly... It's so depressing, I'd hate to be such a primitive minded person in these technology driven times, I'd post a link to a guide to root the phone if I didn't already know att would delete it, and possibly punish me for breach of contract.

While it's very l33t and in line with this forum in general to root your phone, in no way does the Aria require rooting. Anyone giving it a 1 star rating probably should just stick to Razr's.
My wife's Aria is stock and she loves it. It's fast, smooth, and besides her seemingly ALWAYS getting "select vs dial" confused in the dialer, she has zero problems with it. Only minor problem she has is seemingly inconsistent battery life.. Sometimes she'll get 2 days, sometimes it's 12 hours, even with her fairly constant type of usage.

oh yeah, I completely agree, the only reason I finally rooted MY aria was for the overclock kernel so I could fully enjoy the SNES emu I paid for. I was so reluctant to root originally cause stock was just so enjoyable for me.
Also, please don't dis the Razr :'( My last phone was a gold Razr V3xx which had bookworm on it with a game scoring over 28 mil, and the sickest tower defense game ever put on a phone via .jar files... But I do get your point

Yeah, it will. There's some super bulky prototype models you can go buy from personal sellers that run you about 300 bucks and is basically an N64 just with a custom plastic molded case for handheld use. But I bet a hacked 3DS will be around much sooner than a phone with native N64 support... Hopefully, I'm wrong, but the best part is, doesn't matter if I am!

To the untrained eye the graphics of a PS1 and N64 may LOOK to be very similar. But there are WAY more factors involved other than how the graphics may appear to look from each system. An N64 emulator as I've read to believe requires almost 5 times the power of the hardware required to run a PS1 emulator. Possibly even MORE hardware power is required depending on the game you want to play (like games that used the expansion pack). The N64 portable emu (short of a modified N64) is a little further off than you may think... But I wouldn't be surprised if some betas spring up sometime this year.
i agree.. its the most simple interface you can possibly get. menu/settings
menu/apps menu/wallpaper
if you want something done, push fking menu! xD
oh yeah, dual core plz

That's funny because I'd be willing to bet that the guys at gsmarena, engadget, and phonearena have 10x the inside scoop than any of your ATT manager buddies ever will.

WOW... Guess my ATT manager buddies didn't have the scoop before Engadget!
Oops... so its not the dual core... but still knew about it before Engadget!
Will the Dark Forces Team continue development for our HD2's ?
Does anyone know if they are planning on continuing development, or does all this depend on Microsoft's updates ?
I am quite excited waiting to find out the answer.
I guess we won't know until we know unless someone has contacts within DFT?
I will continue to use WP7 even if the current version is the last for the HD2 as long as this version continues to let me buy apps from the market. Hoping that MS don't lock that aspect down.
Have Cotulla, others, and the members of the Dark Forces Team ever you let you down on past projects? Maybe that is one way of looking at the question of the OP.
I dont think there is a future.... I mean... 2012 is near and then the world will end, with or without WP7 on HD2..
Why do you ask this (stupid) question? is there a reason or info that nobody will develop anymore? Just wait or start developing yourself^^
I think things will really start to flow after Microsofts updated coming "soon". There will be no point of releasing another rom before that.

Sorry forgot about the 2012 thing...
As for WP7, bit hooked to it really, actually thinking of changing my beloved HD2 for HD7, but this is such a drastic thing to do, all I wanted was just a glimmer of hope from DFT....
What do you need from DFT? Normal features should work (which are less than android only having better looks =/ )
Actually there are people working on a kitchen, MS will update and i think there will be some nice updates vom DFT in future.
January 22 I sent one of the members of DFT message.

Seriously? Your troll comment was much less useful than the OP.
Least they were asking a question which was a valid concern - which has drawn out a good response from ahmedsaid.

...lot of dots there...was part of the conversation snipped...or are you making things up...?
I cut out part of my conversation, which was negligible.

At this time i wouldn't recommend to change to a new phone, I first wanted to do it myself, but then I stopped to thinking on it. Here's why:
- The smartphones will soon get a huge step forward, there will be models with dual and even quadcores in it ^^
- There will be new batteries with up to 10000 mah but they dont use the normal battery slot to fit in the phone, they are quite smaller
- The display type will soon change to Amoled, so it gets slowly standarised
Normally when you purchase a phone, you want to take it for at least 2 years, so you would miss all that (ok the new battery will take a while until it comes out )
