Should I use my upgrade on the gs3? - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So my contract with att is over and I was wondering if I should go with the gs3 or wait for n4. What do you guys think?

N4. Not like you'd be waiting long anyway

Sure, why not. There are all sorts of post explaining why buying the N4 from T-Mobile is a huge waste of money but let me reiterate.
16 GB N4 = 350. Cheapest values plan is like $60 per month. Over 2 years 350 + 60 = 24 = 1790
Or you buy from T-Mobile
16 GB N4 = $200. Cheapest classic plan is like $80 per month. Over 2 years 200 + 80 + 24 = 2120
These are just off the cuff figures but you get the picture. And if you want the Galaxy s3, it is a fine phone but this is the N4 section and only you can decide on what is best for you as there are like a thousand posts, videos, forums, whatever you'd like that give the pluses and minuses of the G s3.

doesn't seem too bad a deal.
£320 + £10 p/m for 2 years
so
(£10 x 24) + £320 = £560
sim free the phone is £470
£560 - £470 = £90 / 24 months = £3.75
£3.75 2 year contract for 100 minutes, unlimited texts and internet.
is my maths correct?

Where is cheapest place to pay full price in US?

Ive already preordered a galaxy s3 for my line that is upgrade eligible. Now my gf has an s2. I bought her an evo lte off craigslist and she hated it so i took it and sold my s2. Im gona give her my s3 launch day snd if she dosent like that ill take it and sell the evo. If she dose like it im a let her keep it and buy me one full price. Now l easily get 450 for thr lte given i have a defender and commuter. And ill probally get 250.... 300 for her s2. So if i can find one on craigslist for around 500 that be great. If amazon or newegg or any other are selling it for cheap ill get bestbuy to price match. Has anyone seen any online sites selling the sprint version for under 600? If i have to ill add a line, pay 200 then swap phones and pay the 350 etf on the new line and im lookin at 550 total

Outright price?

Is it going to be around $650 outright? I have a Nexus 4 which is on its way but might switch to the S4 if it's around $400
I doubt the SIV will be 400$
but hopefully less than 700 since that's my parents current budget lol
(or else I'll have to buy it when the price drops)
it's most likely going to be at the 650-700 range for outright,
maybe like 299 on contract.
I think everyone and their mother would buy one outright if it was $400. I'd be first in line. I would guess at least $700
Even the nexus 4 costs more than 400 outside the play store lol.
EDIT:
First lot of 2 GT-I9500 for US $1375:

Second lot of 2 GT-I9500 for US $1225:

Buy it now sells 1 @ US $830-840 (16 - 64 GB) w/ free shipping.
Buy it now guy also selling 20 64 GB for $10,000 and many other deals.
Here's a new one buy it now from the UK, a 64 GB for US $752 or GBP 500: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Samsung-Gal...ntageCostumeJewellery_CA&hash=item4d0a0e7d18c Note the picture though and the description says "Main Stone: Rhinestone", LOL.
I was sure any early ones would be at least $1k, but guess I was wrong. Maybe more in the $600-$800 range ?
The auctions were UK and buy it now is US. I've heard GT-I9500 (these) were selling in China already.
Is the GS4 already a relative flop, compared to expectations ? More of an incremental upgrade from the S3 ? S3 will get many software features. Is no LTE an issue on International version ?
BTW, I've bought about 20 phones in the last few years, for app testing, and most were from EBay. China or Hong Kong are usually well priced sources for most phones these days. I usually buy from a vendor that has better ratings 99+% and charges $10 more though.
WTF
where do you guys live expecting the GS4 to be 600 dollars outright?
Here in Australia, the GS3 was close to 800 outright, so I assume the GS4 will be around that same price...
Ayee, then again Australia always gets the short end of the stick,,
It'll be like $300/$350 with a contract and $600/$650 without most likely.
My guess.

That's too cheap. The s3 was around 650 euros when it came out so that's about +750. If that's the price it's gonna sell very well

Galaxy S5 or S4? Help me choose

I am on AT&T and planning to upgrade from an old Galaxy S2.
The galaxy s4 costs about 19 per month on the AT&T Next 24 month plan, while the S5 runs 27 per month. In short, the S5 is about $190 more (over 24 months). Is the higher price of the S5 worth it?
Not a gamer and good camera is important. We have a new born so we do take quite a bit of pictures. Although I don't know if S5's camera is noticeably better.

The camera alone(I have a newborn too) should answer your question. S4 has 8 megapixels, S5 has 16. Huge difference, IMHO. Congrats by the way. I had the S3 and jumped right to the S5 because the S4 is alot like the S3. I'd go with the S5, faster processor, bigger screen, much better camera. And congrats

s4 has 13, s4 active has 8.
Thanks. I don't think I want to pay $27 * 24 months + tax = ~695 bucks. I can buy the same for about 150 less new elsewhere. Did you go with the AT&T next/2yr or buy it outright?

Buying a Turbo2 with payment plan vs. staying on-contract???

Hey all,
I find myself in an interesting situation and would love some feedback from the rest of you!
I am currently on the VZW 'Loyalty' plan: Unlimited Talk/Text +2GB for $60. I'm now up for renewal/upgrade and have been excitedly eyeing the new Turbo 2 since its release. If I go with the new M plan, and take advantage of a 10% corporate discount, it appears I'd now get Unlimited Talk/Text + 3GB for only 50 cents more. ($45-$4.50 = $40.50, plus $20 Line Access = $60.50). Not too bad in my book! 50 cents more than I currently pay and I get an extra GB of data! Add to this the $30/mo 64GB Turbo 2 on a payment plan, and I'm up to $90.50/month.
However, what I did not anticipate is that Verizon would give me the option to renew my 2-year contract and still get subsidized phone pricing on a new Turbo 2. So, if I keep my current plan, I can get a 64GB Turbo2 for $299 (about $400 after taxes, a stupid $40 "upgrade fee" and electing to go with a leather back). I would have to pay it all up front in this scenario, but it seems that this would actually save me ~$340 dollars compared to buying the phone at full retail or spread out on a payment plan.
I've been with VZW for about 9 years, and don't really have any plans of switching any time soon. They have great coverage up here in the snowy mountains of CO, so being locked in another 2-yr agreement doesn't really bother me that much. The only catch seems to be I will have to stick with 2GB/month. I'm on WiFi most of the time and have only gone over 2 or 3 times in the last year or two. With the loyalty plan, extra GBs are $10, so even if I went over every month for 24 months, I'd still be $100 under what I would've paid for the phone on a payment plan or at full retail. So the only catch isn't even that much of a catch...
Does this make sense? Am I taking crazy pills? Or have I actually found a legit way to basically get a $720 phone for almost half-price????? Would love to hear what you guys think.
Well ponder this I spent about 90 less for the 32 gig and just bought a 32 gig SD card for 10 bucks on amazon. So I would get the 32 and buy an SD card. I know what your thinking but then I only have 32 gig for apps. However android M is going to merge the phone storage and SD storage to just one giant storage. As far as which way to go buying the phone. Do you need the extra gig? If not go subsidized it's cheaper. And my 32 gig cost 256 with tax and upgrade fee.

Thanks man. I must've been pondering what you were pondering too (taking over the world??). 90s-cartoon references aside, I definitely am considering the 32GB version. I'm not too app-crazy; 2 years in, I'm just now getting close to filling up my 32GB Moto X 1st Gen (includes 12GB of photos/music). Unfortunately, since I live kinda in the boonies and none of the Verizon 'retailers' here (no actual Verizon shops) don't have all the different backing options for me to check out, I was considering the 64GB version just so I could design refresh it halfway through if I don't like what I got. I wanna go black leather, but I really wanna see it in hand.

I hated the black leather I have the black soft touch and love it. The leather looked cheap to me. The soft touch has such a premium look to it.

I went the contract renewal route because my current plan is at a price point that I could not get with anything new they offer, plus the subsidy put the phone in a price range I could afford.
