LG Nexus 4 vs Galaxy S2 camera? - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I heard the Galaxy S3 uses the same camera as the S2, if that's true, is my current camera on my S2 is better than the one in the LG Nexus? Also according to some.. well a lot of sources, the camera on the nexus 4 is the same as the LG Optimus G, I don't think the LG Optimus G uses the Sony sensor like the nexus 4, am I right?
Thanks in advance!

The Galaxy s3 and the Nexus 4 use a BSI sensor (Back-Side-Illuminated), the Galaxy GS2 does not.
I guess the Nexus 4 camera is going to be a minor upgrade to the GS2 camera.

well the nexus 4 and S3 both can take pictures almost instantly, with my S3 i could probably take 3-5 pictures by the time my S2 is done with 1

BSI means it will take better pictures at night compared to S2?

Yea I thought that was the only difference between S2 and S3 camera, the no shutter lag, I've had my S2 for almost a year and half it disappoints me how the camera tech is growing so slow.. also batteries /:

Is there anyone moved from galaxy s2 to tab 2 7?

For me, the move from 8mega pixels to a 3.2 does feels like a downgrade so as the 8gb internal space. So if anyone have moved from s2 to tab 2 7, have you ever "man, I miss my S2"? thanks:laugh:
Also how is the camcorder? I don't care if it can't go 1080p but the picure quality is more important to me.
I moved from LG Optimus 3D to Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 3G.
The camera is mediocre but this is a tablet after all. The camera is by far better than the cameras of most tabs I've seen so far and is OK for occasional shooting in good light conditions.
So far I'm perfectly happy with tha Galaxy Tab 2 7.0. I was a bit sceptical that I can use it as a phone but it works amazingly good. So no more carrying around 2 devices. That was the main point in buying it anyway
Yeah it's also lacks in auto focus and flash but it's has good spec and worth for its money I'm soo happy and satisfied except that camera thing
Sent from my Samsung Galaxy Tab 2. 7 inch GT-P3100 using xda app-developers app
The tab 2 doesn't have super amoled thing, so It's a no go. So It definitely a downgrade to me. Maybe I'll wait for the galaxy note 10.
Moved from my SGS to this Tab as I've already had a Asus TF101.

[Q] Upgrading from a Note? How's the camera difference?

I bought an N4 and it'll be here soon. I'm upgrading from a Note and the one thing holding me back is the camera. I think my Note takes pretty good pictures. I'm hoping the camera isn't a downgrade.
I just got so sick of not having updates pushed to ROMs right away that I had to switch back to a Nexus.
Anyone?
I have had Galaxy Nexus, S2, S3 iPhone 4s and iPhone 5 Atrix4G and Lumia 900 all in past 12 months.
Also used note before I return it.
Note camera is same as S2. S3 camera only marginally better than S2.
Same with iPhone 4s and 5.
I think (in my opinion) cause I would rank cameras as this
Iphone 5/4s are slightly better than S2/S3.
I think Nexus 4 is a tad below the S2 camera. Especially in low light.
Lumia 900 Atrix 4g and Galaxy nexus cameras all are subpar

Thanks for this post. I figured my Note's camera would be better than the N4. I'm happy to hear it won't be a major downgrade, though.

I have the iPhone 6+ and Note 4 around; I've used the Nexus 6 camera for an hour (indoors only). From what I used it is slower and not as well balanced than the iPhone 6+ camera. Note 4 was just as fast as the Nexus 6, maybe a bit faster.
Both the iPhone 6+ and Note 4 have far, far better software for the camera app and thus they both take far better photos (for a smartphone) compared to the Nexus 6. In low-light the Nexus 6 performs like a Galaxy Nexus (which I've used often) compared with the iPhone 6+ and Note 4. There are many tests which show how bad the Nexus 6 is in low light, especially without flash.
From my limited experience it was ok but noticeable worse than the iPhone 6+ and Note 4. If you were testing all three together in a store, you would see the difference.
Potentially if someone creates a new camera app with far better software in the app - puts it for sale on the PlayStore (so you don't need a rooted phone to use it) - the Nexus 6 camera could be much better. As it is the stock camera app post-processing software is terrible compared to other flagships. The current cameras on the PlayStore (that I've used) do not get the best out of the N6 camera either.
From what I know the camera hardware in the N6 is comparable to the Note 4 so theoretically it can match the photo quality of the Note 4 in all conditions. The software though is not comparable.

Note 4 has sony exmor imx 240 which is the newest sensor from sony that's why note 4 is the top dog nexus 6 has imx 214 sensor which is the same as one plus one but takes far better pictures than one plus one . we gonna see new amazing third party apps soon since lollipop camera api has been released from google.

Great thanks for the confirmation on the sensors; then the Nexus 6 will never compete with the Note 4 or iPhone 6+ on the camera front, it will always be a step behind. When they said 'premium, no compromises' I think they were joking. I honestly expected it to at least match the Note 4 with camera tech for the price. Worse screen I expected, but not the camera tech.
The Nexus 6 is essentially a Note 3 with a faster processor (but you probably wouldn't notice due to the encryption) and stock Android. Ideally should be priced like a Note 3 then...

I had note 4 for a week and it lag like hell everything seems slow motion compare to nexus 6 thats the reason I sold note 4 on the front facing camera it could compete with iPhone 6 plus but not with note 4 cause it has 3.7mp wide angle lens.

Camera comparison vs S6

Hi all, I'm currently using a galaxy S5 and looking for an upgrade to either a Note 4 or S6. I don't really care much about any other things as the two are both very good phones, only camera. Spec wise they are not THAT different, just a better f/1.9 lens on the S6 compared to f/2.2 lens of the Note 4, other specs remain the same. So theoretically the images from the S6 should be a little bit better than the note 4 in extreme cases (very low light for instance), and generally the same for most situations. But somehow I've read reviews that put the Note 4's camera output to be a tad better than the S6 (gsmarena's review for example), and I just don't know why. Is there any reason behind that or something I missed? Thanks in advance!

Use Mobile DxOMark and find the S6/Note 4 and compare why one is better than the other hardware/software wise.
Gsmarena did do a blind test by readers and note 4 won, except for night shots

Both the same generally but S6 much better in low light.

From what I have seen the Note 4 seems to have a much better camera. But that is due to the fact that the SGS6 uses either Samsung's own isocell or Sony's Xemar senor. Which is makes it a potshot as to which one of those you would get on your SGS6/S6Edge.

Its Time to Sell Your Note 5

mate, How About Camera video Recording?
I watched lot of videos on youtube and sound like S7 edge with 12 Megapixel is better than Note with 16 megapixel? What do you think?
For me Camera is most imported.
Don't use camera recording so don't know but every day use not worth s7 edge

My wife has the S7 edge and I have the note 5. The S7 edge camera is definitely better but not by miles. I will say the Note 5 is much smoother. When messing with the wife's phone it has an occasional hiccup. I never get hiccups on the Note 5.

This is only under low light-levels that this advantage is evident. I still prefer the Note5 for daily use

MP make no difference in quality and probably virtually impossible to replace the actual lens let alone swap it with an s7 lens plus alot more than a lens goes into quality. You can put a $10k lens on a $100 camera but doesn't mean you're gonna have $10k quality pics lol

I have both s-series and note-series phones i.e.S6 edge+, s7 edge and note 4-5..But as per my personal experience note series rocks over s-series...m using note 5 as my daily driver with nought port rom which is running buttery smooth than official nougat of s7edge...Battery life is bit less but compared to differences i.e.note5 with 3000mAh and s7edge with 3600mAh we can't just compare both phones straight enough but getting 4hrs of SOT which is enough for me..

the Note 7 is discontinued anything being sold under that name now is a refurb of the original model with a different battery. The Note 8 as of right now is an unconfirmed rumor (if anyone can confirm it please I would love a new model as I do love the note series of phones) what is being released in April is the S8
