Error in TWRP - Nexus 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys,
I have a galaxy nexus and have been using CWM for a while. I just bought a Nexus 7 and love it, but I am unable to make a nandroid backup. Anytime I try I get the error "unable to locate android secure partition". Can anyone help me solve this?
Thanks!

I'm having the exact problem. Used nexus root toolkit v1.5.5 for rooting but I can not perform a backup.
"E: Unable to locate android secure partition."
Nexus 7 16 gb 4.1.2 JZO54K

Try "Fix permission" under advance options in TWRP.

using "fix permission" doesn't fix my problem. I do have this issue as well, and i also have the JZO54K build.
unlocked, rooted and all, but strangely, it doesn't want to do backup in TWRP. Hopefully this will be fixed soon, as i would like to create a recovery in case something go wrong on my Nexus 7...

I'm having the exact same issue, hopefully it will be resolved promptly, or at least investigated by the devs.

Try in twrp settings--->restore defaults this solved my problem

Nexus 7 booting failed

I need a lot of help with my Nexus. I have been trying my best to root it but it won't work using the Nexus Root Toolkit. So I decided to go try rooting it manually. When I did that the same problem was coming up which is it wouldn't let me flash anything on the device to give me root access. I decided to follow a guide to bring the version down to an older version and start over from there which I tried doing manually using windows command prompts. It told me to erse boot, cache, recovery, system, and then to flash the downloaded bootloader and version of android. When I got to the point where I had to flash the new bootloader my device froze while my computer was sending the file over which is what it did every time I tried to flash or send a file to the device using fastboot. I paniced and tried again using the Root Toolkit. It wasn't working either. Now my device is saying 'Booting Failed' which I assume is because of the fastboot erasing commands I did before. I am panicing because the new bootloader is still not sending over and I've been waiting for the past 10 minutes. The file size is only (2072 KB), I don't think it should be taking this long. Can anyone help me please?

Nexus 7 (2013) Frozen at Google Screen

Hello there. A few days ago I was able to update (finally) my Nexus 7 2013 WiFi version to KitKat. However, during some weird screen freezing issues, the tablet refuses to go past the Google screen. I am able to get into fastboot and recovery, but when I try to wipe the device, I get a lot of "failed to mount cache" messages.
The root toolkit also fails because of this, and even sideloading won't work. When I try to unlock the device, I get the blue text screen, but then it freezes at "erasing cache" or something to that effect. Any ideas on how I can fix this? Thanks!
Just for further clarification, I have been using the WugFresh Nexus Root Toolkit, and when I try to erase userdata, it stops right there. Same with when I try to use CMD to fastboot erase userdata.
Wrong device bro. Try searching in nexus 2013 section.

Nexus 4, 4.4.1 OTA adb side load help!

My brother has the Nexus 4 and has been on a custom ROM up until the KitKat release.
I used Wugfresh's toolkit to flash on the original factory image, unroot and I also relocked the boot loader.
Recently, 4.4.1 came out and he asked if I could help him put it on his phone. I did some searching, and read that I could use adb to sideload the ota.
Before using it on his phone, I used adb to sideload 4.4.1 on my nexus 5 which worked without a single hiccup.
However, when I proceeded to side load his, an error came up on the phone that said "E: error in /tmp/update.zip"
Could someone help me figure that out? I tried searching around but I couldn't really find anything useful. My brother, preferably wants to stay unrooted for the time being.

Try and redownload the OTA file but make sure its for the nexus 4. I had a friend that accidentally downloaded the zip for n7 and gave him an error.

I did try it for the nexus 4. I thought I hadn't, but it was right. I even tried some links from XDA in the nexus 4 forum as well, it didn't work.
I read somewhere that I need to re-flash the recovery.img? Would that fix it? If so, where can I find it?

I never bothered attempting to back up apps and data from a non-rooted device but I'm sure there are ways
Contacts - gmail
Calendar - gmail
Photos/music/anything on SD - just transfer to pc
Call log and SMS - SMS backup +
Once rooted titanium backup will do all
To root, easy
fastboot oem unlock
Now either flash a custom recovery or boot one, for this phone I would use the latest twrp
fastboot flash recovery nameofrecovery.img
Or
fastboot boot nameofrecovery.img
I suggest to just flash it though for ease
Now flash either custom rooted ROM + gapps and anything needed
Or flash stock ROM and add superuser or supersu and busybox (easily flashable)

Installing rom/factory os from a clean wipe

Using TWRP I did a complete wipe (Dalvik Cache, System, Data, Internal Storage, Cache). Problem is I can't install a ROM or even factory because no recovery/rom exists on the device. Also when I plug my device into the computer Windows doesn't recognize it. Is there a way I can go about transferring a ROM or the factory image onto the Nexus 7?

I haven't been able to get the toolkit to work because I'm not able to activate usb debugging since I can't get past the boot screen. Also when I go to device manager my nexus 7 doesn't show up anywhere. I'm running Windows 7
I realized the above post might be slightly confusing so ultimately what I'm trying trying to say is that I can't use the ADB method because for whatever reason my Nexus 7 doesn't show up in the device manager at all. Come on guys I'm really stuck here, I can't be the first fool who's done something like this .
FIXED: Here's what I did.
Simply used USB OTG connection haha, hopefully this helps anyone who derped like me.

If you would have opened up the toolkit the option you would have wanted was the "bricked" option.
It does everything blind, but does it well
