Scrolling in Modern UI Apps w/ Mouse - Windows 8 General

[FIXED] This issue was caused by a 3rd party app called WizMouse.
Hi all,
I'd like to ask if all your Windows 8 Modern UI apps are scrollable with your mouse.
For me, some apps are and some apps don't support scrollwheel scrolling (which is a pain). An example of an app that doesn't support scrolling for me (via the mouse) is News Bento. (pretty good free news / rss app)
These are the mice/trackpads I use that replicate the inability to scroll in such apps:
Logitech G700
Logitech M705
Dell Studio 1457 trackpad
I was surprised to hear that some mice can scroll in all apps (including News Bento). An example of this is the Razer Mamba.
I would like your feedback to determine if this is an app issue or a mouse driver issue. Let me know if News Bento is scrollable for you guys and what mouse you are using.
FYI: I am not trying to get ppl to download that app. I'm no no way related to that app. It is just that that I have scrolling issues with that app amongst others. Official apps from MS (bing apps) are perfectly scrollable for me.
Your replies will help me determine what mouse to get (if it proves to be a mouse / driver issue).

I just downloaded the app and it scrolls perfectly on my thinkpad's trackpad and logitech lx3 mouse. The trackpoint (little red thing on the keyboard) is really jumpy though.

Thanks look like my 3 pointing devices need driver updates ><.

My Logitech LX3 is around 6-7 years old. I highly doubt that they would have drivers for this but not your mice.

Are there any special settings you used?
I tried plugging in a generic mouse. Same issue.

Nope. Are you trying to scroll the webpage that comes up when you click view full article? If so you have to click on it first.

I am running Windows 8 inside Virtualbox 4.2 and am using the Logitech Cordless Desktop Comfort Laser keyboard & mouse combo. The mouse is model M-RAZ105 and scrolling works in both the app's listing of feeds and in the full article "window".

No problems with vertical scrolling in full view. Horizontal scrolling doesn't work for me when in the feeds / main menu.

Works fine here, 2 finger scroll on macbook pro trackpad

I can confirm it is a problem with some settings. I took a mouse that could scroll in News Bento from another computer and it couldn't scroll on mine. This is weird. Anyone has any ideas?

Arrow Keys App for Android?

I have a Velocity Micro Cruz Tablet running Android 2.0
One thing which is very frustrating at times, is that attempts to scroll, or even flip pages in an ereader app, are often confused with something else or ignored completely.
I really wish the device had hardware arrow keys to avoid this problem, but since it doesn't, the next best thing would be a small application to provide arrow keys without a full keyboard.
This would, ideally, be a small arrow key app that would 'float over' any other open application (like the web browser, or an ereader app). I don't even know if this is possible, but if so, it would be VERY beneficial.
Thanks for any consideration.
The Desire HD Keyboard has arrow keys but I have yet to find a port for the tablet. Thats the only thing I know that is close to what you want. Assuming it has bluetooth and can be used as the usb host you can get something like the Logitech DiNova mini. Sorry, don't know much about the tablet, relatively unknown.

jump desktop vnc + vmware + lapdock

any else tried it? the touch pad/keyboard works flawlessly and its faster than any vnc client I've tried however I can't find an option to disconnect or go fullscreen. I setup my vm to use atrix's native 960x540 res so essentially with fixed fullscreen support this would be the perfect setup
edit: back will disconnect. it wasn't working initially (it would cause a right click) but either they fixed it or my phone fixed itself. this vnc client has support for external mouse/keyboard on android, so with the lapdock, the touchpad/keyboard works. yes, even right click works. once they at very least offer basic fullscreen/no status bar support this easily replaces webtop for me as long as you have a decent internet connection.
tl;dr spend 99c on jump desktop vnc now before the price goes up =D
Except using a vnc app on the phone wont work well translated on the touchpad. I used teamviewer and i had to drag the touchpad to move the mouse, it was kind of annoying.

that's the beauty of jump desktop. it has support for external mouse/keyboard.. so the touch pad acts like a real touch pad. the mouse on the remote machine follows below your blue android mouse
theres a free app called pocket cloud which has the same functionality, but the keyboard is iffy, and overall it's just not as fast as jump. there is a little lag as the virtual machine follows your mouse especially on 3G but it's the most amazing client i've found so far. just need to push them for fullscreen support
Hi,
I'm one of the developers on the Jump Desktop app. Glad you're finding Jump useful.
1. Re: back button not working: We actually fixed this in our 4.0.4 update - let us know if you have any issues with this.
2. Fullscreen / status bar: Jump should already be going fullscreen for you. Which OS are you running on your Atrix?
3. Also, did you know that pressing the 'menu' button shows / hides Jump's functional keyboard at the bottom?
4. And yes - the price is going to up - our iOS version costs much more
Please do let us know what you guys want to see with with Jump - we really want it to become the best remote desktop app on the Android market.
I, for one, am using an alpha build of CM9 and find that your program works very well.
One thing that I would like to see is full-screen without any panning, which I believe is what the OP meant. Is there a way that the android notification bar could be hidden so that we could make complete use of the phone's display for the VNC?

Nice that you care enough to participate in the forum here. Thanks!
Great app, by the way. I justify paying for very few apps, but yours is worth many times the .99 I paid yesterday. (Now that I have mine ) I would say you could reasonably raise the price to about the level of PocketCloud. although I find your app to be superior so far.
As to future features, the only thing I can think of is file transfer.

[Q] *WINDOWS* keyboard/mouse application

Hey just wondering I've set up my Windows PC to my TV which is about 10ft away from TV, and I play media through XBMC which is on the TV and use the dedicated Android application for it.
I'm looking to take it a little bit further though, and use the A500 tablet as a keyboard and touchpad for just doing other things on the PC while using the TV.
I've come across a few applications which use software on the PC to communicate with the tablet and send/receive keystrokes and touch input for mouse which is fine but all the apps I've played with so far if you use the keyboard bit the touchpad goes away, and you have to press another button to switch to the touchpad, and same with when using the touchpad you can't use the keyboard at the same time, I was wondering if anyone has come across an application that can show both at the same time without having to hide one or the other when using one of them.
I am not home right now to see if using the touchpad and kb at the same time works, but I use TeamViewer. I cannot see a reason you need both the kb and touchpad functionality at the same time.

[POOL] What enviroment you use on Windows 8 Laptop?

Just asking a simple question: What do you use on Windows 8 Laptop, Metro (ModernUI) or Desktop environment as main.
Desktop PC are sticked with Mouse (usually) but Laptop have multi-touch trackpads which can use the Win8 gestures in Metro?
So, what do you use
I have no problem with using metro with a cheap sub £10 keyboard and a cyborg rat 5 mouse, aka nothing particularly accustomed to metro. It works perfectly fine, infact I have a windows 8 laptop too with a multitouch trackpad and I find the gestures on that trackpad are no more conductive to using metro than a regular USB mouse and keyboard.
I find the exact opposite actually, I go to move my cursor from left to right across my desktop and find I have just inadvertently triggered the switch metro application gesture, and top to bottom seems to deselect whatever window I have active or I accidently trigger the charms bar, I disabled the gestures. With a keyboard right in front of me I can just alt-tab, or windows+C into the charm bars and for the swipe down I can use this mystical invention called right clicking....
I use both metro and desktop. Primarily desktop I guess but I regularly have the windows 8 messaging or skype apps docked to the left side of my screen (and am quite annoyed that messaging is being removed in 8.1) and I use the mail, calendar and metrotube apps. Sometimes I'll play jetpack joyride too of course Most of the software I actually use though is desktop.
When I went to get this laptop, one of the other models I considered was touch enabled but honestly, I havent looked back at getting a non touchscreen model. Metro apps are incredibly functional on just the keyboard alone, no mouse.
Pool.
I use both as metro doesn't have all the apps i need. Though i would love to use only metro someday as its beautiful

Hell, I have little use for Metro even on my Surface RT. My x64 laptop (old convertible tablet, actually) and desktop (27" WQHD monitor, no touchscreen) barely use Metro stuff at all. Skype (snapped to one side, usually) is pretty good, but beyond that, *sometimes* the email app (which is tolerable to use now, but annoying to not be able to have it split with the desktop nicely), and a handful of games (which I would run fullscreen whether they were Metro or not), I don't use it at all. Not for the browser, not for online shopping, not for social networks, not media playback, not for productivity software... it's all garbage.

Use your PC keyboard and mouse to remotely control your Fire TV (requires root)

Setup Synergy (server) on your PC.
Sideload Synergy Android Client on your Fire TV.
The client can be setup from the Fire TV remote. Press "Right" from the empty textarea at the bottom to select "Connect".
The client will continue to run, even with the Fire TV is asleep. Just use escape to wake it, though you will have to reconnect after a restart.
I haven't found the right key combinations for Home or Menu, but ESC works for Back. I'll update this post if I stumble across them or someone posts them below.
For help setting up the server on your PC, see the Synergy User Guide.
Tip: I personally prefer to use hotkeys to switch between screens, rather than moving the mouse off screen. If you choose to use move your mouse from screen to screen, I highly recommend setting up a hotkey to bring your focus back to the main screen, for when you lose track of your mouse.
Note: An older version of Synergy is still available to download for free on SourceForge, though I haven't tested it with the android client.
I also ran across ShareKM (Share Keyboard & Mouse) in the related threads when posting this, but I haven't tested it, either.
Using a keyboard and mouse does not require root.

Or you can just plug the hundred different mice and keyboards into your fire TV through a hub and it works natively unless I'm missing something about synergy.

Relax guys, he is just pointing out options. This would be useful say for someone that does not have a stand alone mouse or keyboard but has a laptop they can use to make the random selection here and there.

This is to remotely control the Fire TV with the local keyboard and mouse on a PC or laptop. I have updated the thread title to clarify.

I haven't been able to get it to work for me. It just tells me I wasn't able to "Failed to connect to Wolvey:24800" on the firestick side. I changed the computer name to Wolvey since the previous one was the LAPTOP-;kjasdf and I was too lazy to sit there and try typing that over and over again. I restarted my computer after changing the name as well. Not sure what I'm doing wrong.
Also, I was wondering if DeskDock was tried out as well since it seems to be considered to be a more stable alternative?
Thanks
