This is (as far as I know) the first dump of wp8. It's based on the 9900 (emulator) build and is meant for cooking roms (for WP7/8 devices)
It has all 51 languages and all 3 screen resolutions

Do you know that emulator have x86 version of WP8? It's impossible to use it. So your dump is really useless, even more than me.

Offline ISO weights 1.6GiB. But it's much faster to download using torrent than downloading from unknown hosting.
Sorry but in the future is possible to have a WP8 Rom on a WP 7/7.8 device?

Yes and no. As it's possable to run on the hardware (all 1st gen are the same CPU wise and 2nd gen are pretty close still) and even Microsoft said so, there are no drivers designed for it. Nevermind the OS is designed for a dual core CPU, so performance could be a big hit.
The HD2 was the ONLY Windows Mobile device to get WP7 and the only reason why that is was because Microsoft used the HD2 in testing WP7 and someone "leaked" the drivers needed. If things follow suit, the chances of getting a WP8 rom running on a WP7.5 device might be like finding that needle in a haystack...might happen but, I would not hold my breath.
I also would love to see it tho.....

Yea, I'd like the same thing, it would be nice to be able to check ROMs before reloading.

I think if you download the Windows Mobile 6.1 SDK it comes with an emulator you can use.
You have to have visual basic tho lol

Yea, I use VS and I think you can use those emulator images to run things on WM 6, but I don't believe it allows you to 'reflash' a ROM image (unfortunately).
If anyone can prove me wrong or knows a way, then please respond!

The stock Webtop sucks in my opinion. A outstanding concept, but poorly executed.
I'm working right now in a "revamped version" of the stock one. I call it Xubuntop - A full XFCE4 desktop.
Xubuntu is originally a Ubuntu with XFCE4 environment and some optimizations. Check the original Xubuntu project (Google it)
I'm thinking in two versions: Lightweight and Full
Lightweight: flashed in Osh and ready to go!
Full: flashed in Osh and uses Webtop2sd to expand the internal disk space.
I know that many tried to do this and I warn you guys, I'm not rediscovering the wheel. It's just a "easy way" to get those extra applications using the Xubuntu as a base.
It will feature optimizations to make the environment as lightweight as possible, giving the CPU more room to process whatever you want to execute.
I'm working two weeks on this and maybe this will be ready Saturday, but I can't promise nothing
Maybe I'll need help to make the zip to use in CWM.

I have a questions.
Is Xubuntop for cm7/9 roms or blur/stock roms ?
Will it be dependent on the broken/outdated Motorola packages?
By this I mean, will we be able to make full use of the repos to install newer versions of software that are dependent on newer versions these packages. (E.g. the latest verision of Chromium that I can get working now is version 4 due to its dependencies breaking webtop, even when apt-get has been fixed.)

Xubuntop should work fine with the Blur and Stock roms.
CM7/9 boots the Webtop from the Webtop2sd? If yes, then I guess the "full" version can work.

In some parts, yes, it will be dependant.
My intention is to hold the core packages and add the lastest (and functional) repository with Arm support, 10.10 I guess.
The other alternative is get the source code and rebuild them in Arm architeture. This demmands a lot of work and I can't do it all by myself. But with more time and people, it can be done.
If it will run the latest available version of Chromium from the repositories (It was version 14 last time I checked) that's all I'm really concerned about. Good luck!
I guess it's impossible to squeeze a light version to fit inside the 0.8gb osh reserved space. Crap!
By the way, the system is more fluid than before. I'm trying to remove all non-essential packages right now.
With AT&T stock kernel (1Ghz) GtkPerf test run now in 13s. A huge difference.
Please give WebTop2SD a try to have a much bigger osh partition .

I'm having a hard time trying to port the lastest Chromium-browser. I need to re-install ArchLinux in my desktop first and see if I can make it work there. I'll delay Xubuntop a bit trying to port it.
I did installed xfce4 after using webtop2sd. But i ended up with a lot of stuff laying around not used, i'd like some more integrated!

Like what? aumix? Did you installed xfce4 or xfce4-desktop or even xubuntu-desktop?
I'm manually installing each software from the 'original' xubuntu distro to make sure we don't end with useless software. Is that what you want?

Would this run any faster than the current webtop with xfce4 interface? My webtop functions, buts slow as hell off my sd card sometimes. Its a class 10 pny card.
Only on windows (we use windows CE and its variants at work) but let me know how we can work.

I'm working very hard to port the Chromium-browser 18.0.1025 (latest official), I've just bricked the webtop attempting to upgrade some core files... Not a problem... I was expecting this.
I'll not give up.
I broke my webtop so many times trying to get newer software to work that I just made a disk dump of a working partition that was configured how I want it. If I ever have problems, I just restore the disk dump, and within a few minutes I have everything working again.
this has me VERY excited, but XFCE still isn't lightweight enough IMHO.
What are your thoughts about Fluxbox? I remember having DamnSmallLinux on a 200mhz machine with 128MB of RAM, that was very responsive...
That said, we don't have a webtop subforum.
Which we really need, to collaborate efficiently.
Any ideas? This forum is way to frickin busy.

The Answer to the question is- Yes. As explained in the Linked video(See Below) by UBUNTU Co-founder, Ubuntu works on all the devices which can run Android. Yes, but the kernel is similar (Android just misses out ALSA support). Java just provides the UI.

You must acknowledge that "Ubuntu Mobile" is for "x86" CPUs, "Ubuntu Touch" is for "ARM" CPUs.

Yes, currently, Ubuntu Touch is using the base android.
It uses its HAL, and dalvik VM, etc are not needed.
Ubuntu Touch is supposed to run on CM10.1, and currently, i found a source of CM10.1 for HTC HD2.
Compilation is still in progress, i met lots of errors, but lets hope we will success

2013-03-17: After lots of tries and debugging, CM10.1 has been successfully compiled. No BCMDHD support. I'll try to port it to ubuntu tonight or tomorrow.
2013-03-22: Way to achieve ubuntu on the htc hd2 has been found. Due to my school tests start from today, development will be slow/suspended for about a week.
2013-03-24: Base android has been successfully ported into the HD2, although it is a bit slow/buggy, it is still acceptable.
2013-03-24: UbuntuTouch rootfs OK! No gui yet, need sometime for debugging.
2013-04-03: I just figured out that everything i done was wrong, i should use my custom android-init instead of the old init, debugging for the new init.

Actually you can install lots of different versions of linux on your Nexus 7, including Ubuntu and Backtrack. Check this app. The Nexus 7 is on the supported list.

Actually cyanogenMod is just a customized version of Android, it's not a different OS. So i take that what you meant is installing a different ROM on your Nexus 7. Anyway you should start from here

He was just trying to help you. May be you should use search in the forums or use google. I typed linux on nexus 7 and found tons of results. Also there is a thread for Firefox OS in the Development forums. You would be much safer doing the linux inside android from the play store.

The complete Linux installer says it only works on certain supported kernels. I'm no expert, so is the stock kernel supported? I'd like to try Ubuntu on my rooted stock Nexus 7 2013. (32G)

So guys,
I just try it and can't get it run...
I used Linux Installer and followed the guide.
But when I connect with VNC I only see a gray screen, allthough I started xstartup...
Please help...

An odin is nowhere near as powerful even at 9 w a loki is tempting but it wont be out for 6 more months

no need for porting, this device supports ACPI
bringing over some of its linux drivers to android x86 should be pretty simple as i believe its supported in mainline (amdgpu driver)
