Does anyone know if this combo would work?
I read around the web and the Vibrant worked.
Does anyone have the web2go plan or even tzone?
Didn't for me, they made me switch to the android data at 30 per month...

They definitely made me upgrade. However, I've seen reports of people getting away with the lower plan. Something about certain sellers, I think. If you haven't done some searching, do so.

Call retentions and ask for the "Preferred Android Data Plan." Unlimited data for $20/month. Fairly easy to get.

Damn, that sucks. Just got the G2, so I was hoping this would work.
Oh and apparently the Vibrant didnt worked after all. Only for a few hours at most
Worked for about 3 days... then was forced to upgrade to 24.99 plan.
Its either upgrade to $30 monthly or have a existing g1 $24.99 plan.

My first data plan and spoke to the "loyalty" department. Have mine unlimited for $20, but then again been a T-Mobile customer when they were still called Voicestream. Also read somewhere that T-Mobile is starting a new data plan for smartphones where its $10 for 200mb of bandwidth if you don't use that much data.
you guys DO know that the EVEN MORE PLUS plan for $59.99 is cheaper than pretty much everything combined.....
\you get 500 with N/w + Unlimited Text + Unlimited 3G Data, with mobile to mobil..... and NO Contract
^^ yea thats true, however if you are still under contract they will charge you the ETF before you can change plans

Yes, but on the Even More Plus, you are not under contract and pay FULL price for your phone.
If you are still under contract you will pay the Early Termination Fee.
Why throw in something that's only relevant to 1 or 2 people? Most of us are under contract.

Weird story about this, I've had internet with tmobile for 3-4 years and I still have my 20 dollar plan pricing. Since it was already on our plan my wife also got an android phone and was also able to get the 20 a month plan. Saves alot once you get more then one phone with that pricing @@

If you've been with T-Mobile long enough, i'd say like 2+ years... you can ask them to put you on the Even More plus plans..... they ARE getting rid of these plans as it turns out they are not as profitable as they thought they would be.
I personally think thats the best deal around $60 for all that is unbeatable.
Also, if you have a good credit you put the G2 on Interest-free installments.... I paid $250 down and the rest $250 will be added as $25/month on the my bill each month until I finish out the remaining balance.

Honestly, it doesn't take much to get T-Mobile to lower down your prices. You just have to call retentions and make them budge.
I have two friends that JUST switched to T-Mobile from Verizon about two weeks ago. They got the Even More 750 minutes Family Talk and Text Plan for $79.99, and to one of the lines added a $30 Unlimited Android Data Plan and to the other line a $10 Unlimited Feature Phone Data Plan. So in total, their bill came out $120/month.
What I told them to do the very next day is call T-Mobile retentions and tell them that Verizon came calling back with an offer that they couldn't refuse, and since they were in the 14-day trial period, they could leave T-Mobile without having to pay any contract cancellation fee. T-Mobile is not about to let someone walk away. That is just not good business. So they made a counter offer that they couldn't refuse that looked like this:
Even More 750 minutes Family Talk Plan for $59.99/month
Unlimited Text Messaging for $15/month
Preferred Android Unlimited Data Plan for $20/month
Preferred Feature Phone Unlimited Data Plan for $5/month
10% Off Entire Phone Bill every Month through University Affiliation
2 Months Free of Data Charges
That comes out to $90/month, not even including those two free months of data charges. That's a ridiculously good price if you ask me. So next time you call T-Mobile, push them a little. They'll cave eventually.
I am currently using an iPhone 3GS with T-Mobile using the $10 unlimited data plan... If I upgrade to the MT4G, will that plan still work on the MT4G?
I read I can just change the APN and viola it should work...
No it won't. You'll have to get on a andriod data plan or 4g plan.
$30 a mo.

or, if you've been with t-mo for a while, call up retentions and see if you can't get the Preferred Android data plan - $20 a mo.

Do you have experience with this? I can forgo 4G at the moment, I'm using EDGE speeds so 3G would be great!
I went from an WinMo phone to Android and had to switch to an Android plan because they cut me off of my old plan.
I think the trick to it is if you use a non T-Mo branded phone, you may not need to update your data plan. An Android phone from T-Mo will have it's IMEI number pop up on their network and they'll know that it's and Android phone and will make you switch to their Android plan.
I was only with T-Mo for 6 months before I changed phones and asked for the preferred data plan ($20).
If you UPGRADE you will have to pay the $30 unlimited data a month fee. That is the only way you can get the phone at a subsidized price. If you buy the phone off contract then the $10 data will work

This!
If you buy it elsewhere besides T-mobile, they cant force the upgrade on you. I mean they could since they can see what phone you have, but highly unlikely.
I would double check the price plans if I were you guys. I may be wrong but I went into a T-mobile Official store yesterday and will be getting a Mytouch4g later today, and they told me my total monthly price for everything including unlimited text talk web and 4g was going to be a flat 79.99 US a month. could be wrong but that's what they told me and what the brochure says about the plan
I had an iPhone 3g with t-mobile (only on edge) with the $19.99 data plan. I spoke with the "customer loyalty" dept. The assured me that if I upgraded to a mytouch 4g, they would substitute my $19.99 unlimited data plan with a $20.00 unlimited 4g plan. Sure enough, I am good to go. I was eligable for a full-upgrade, so they actually sold me the phone for $150 rather than $200 as well.
Can anyone advise on this? I just got my MT4G and the $10 plan with the changed APN to internet2.voicestream.com won't work.
Is there a fix or anything I can do?

theres nothing you can really do about this. i was on the same thing with my iphone3GS. they will recognize the phone and it will auto direct you to the upgrade website.
Plus if you want the $100 rebate, you have to get the $30 data plan
If you go thru loyalty department you can get MANY deals. But T-Mobile can't force the upgrade if you buy the phone elsewhere. They will tell you that to have optimal usage and performance, the unlimited 4g plan is needed. And for the 79.99 deal, you can easily get that since the phones been out for a while and if you go through loyalty department. T-Mobile will do alot of deals to keep customers

I've been a TMO customer for a few years now, and I can tell you that their customer service is second to none. If you ever want to change your plan or upgrade your hardware then call the customer service number and say "contract," that will get you to the customer loyalty rep. From there, you can be sure that you're going to get the best deal possible. My wife and I both upgraded our MT3Gs for MT4Gs eight months before we were supposed to be eligible for an upgrade, and they gave us the full discount...and it was during the buy one get one deal, so we got them both for $150 (or $75 each)! On top of that, they gave us an unlimited texting plan for both of us for $10/month... Since we still have or My Faves shared voice plan from years ago for $60/month, our total monthly bill for both phones is only $127 (with taxes and fees, including the preferred android unlimited data on both lines). Oh yeah, I should also mention that we didn't even have data on our MT3Gs; we had hit some hard times financially at one point, and they let us drop it without any charges or fees whatsoever. TMO has the best customer service I have ever dealt with, just let then know exactly what you want, and why you want it.

Did you sign a two yr contract? If so, you still have one more year left. You may be able to get a partial discount (partial subsidized price) on the SGS-2, but that means you are renewing an additional two years on top of the remaining one year. That is 3 yrs.
I sure as hell wouldn't commit to T-Mobile for 3 yrs just to get that phone.
You can buy it at full retail and wouldn't have to sign a contract, but that would cost you obviously more for the phone.
Why don't you check out ebay for the Sensation 4G, you can pick one up for 300 or so without contract. Or wait a few months and SGS-2 will be on ebay for cheap.
Just don't sign another contract, 3 yrs more with T-Mobile is insane, especially since nobody knows what is going to happen to them.
Another option is to cancel your T-Mobile account. Pay the 200 ETF. Then go to At&t and get the SGS-2 for 149.99 (if you shop around).
This comes out to 349.99.
Also, contrary to popular belief, At&t is actually cheaper than T-mobile. If you compare the current contract plans on At&t to the current contract plans on T-Mobile, you get more for your money on At&t (especially if you are on a Family plan). However, if you are on a grandfathered T-Mobile plan then that might not be the case.
Anyways, deffinately don't sign another T-mobile contract, that is crazy right now.
Edit:
According to Archie53 they don't add an additional 2 yrs on your remaining 1 yr, they just renew from that point on for 2 more yrs.
Thanks for the clarification.
They don't add time onto existing contracts, they just restart the two years. The partial discount is pretty much not worth signing a two year contract , your almost better off just paying full price.

What claims?
The part where I said current At&t contract plans (especially family plans) are cheaper than current contract T-Mobile plans?
Just go to At&t and T-mobile compare the plans side by side. At&t comes out cheaper. At&t gives you unlimited calling to Any mobile on any carrier as long as you get family text messaging. I'm on a grandfathered plan with T-mobile, and if I switch to At&t I would save about 30 bucks a month and get unlimited mobile to mobile on any carrier. The only thing I would lose is my 5gb data cap, compared to 2Gb on At&t. That's ok though, I don't even use the full 2GB, I'm always on wifi wherever I go.

First off, you don't need to be rude. I'm pretty sure I'm more educated than you are.
Secondly, why would I get unlimited talk on At&t when At&t offers rollover and free mobile to mobile on any carrier with the purchase of famly text messaging for 30 bucks or individual for 20 bucks.
With At&t rollover and unlimited mobile to mobile TO ANY CARRIER, you can get one of the cheaper At&t minute plans and save a lot of money, yet still basically have unlimited talk. THAT WAS MY POINT.

Yeah you're right bout the rude part. Sorry.
Everyone's family is different and needs for phones are different...your way is fine as long as your family won't call landlines. Mine tends to talk to a variety of connections(mobile and landline/google voice*) So an unlimited makes way more sense for me and mine. With the unlimited Tmobile beats At&t hands down.

Apology accepted.
Ya, both carriers have their pros and cons, and you're right sometimes one is cheaper than the other depending on one's needs.
I knew I forgot something...i put the * on google voice up there because if you're calling to and from GV alot it is considered landlines. Another reason I need the actual unlimited as everyone now has my GV number. Unless you're calling a sprint GV number, then it's a mobile...i think.

Whether he re-ups his T-Mobile contract, or gets a new contract with ATT, he'll be in the same boat. Except he'll probably be paying less on T-Mobile.
If the merger goes through, ATT has to honor all existing customer contracts. If they raise your rates, you get out ETF-free.
Plus since the source just.dropped for the sgs2 it will be rooted soon so that's even better

Hi everyone.
I'm getting the Nexus 4 launch day, but I don't have Tmobile nor do I know how it even works.. I'm looking to do a sim only plan since I will buy the phone from the play store.
So my question is.. Are the plans monthly? or long term? If so, what's the cheapest plan with data and unlimited texting? I don't need a lot of minutes. I've looked at the Tmobile site, but to be honest its kind of confusing..
also would it be worth it to upgrade to nationwide 4g? I'm currently at UCF so if anyone knows that would be awesome!
Thank you in advance!

One of their Monthly 4G plan for $30 (they have two plans for $30) comes with "Unlimited" Data 5Gb 4G, rest is miserably slow. unlimited texting and 100 minutes. I use it, If you don't use minutes that often it's great. I've only went over my 5Gb once, so unless you stream HD videos you should be fine. I listen to slacker almost everyday while i'm at work and have yet to go over.
It's only available if you order the Sim online and activate it on their website, or go to Wal-Mart.
As for the Sim-only plans, the Value Plans, I'm pretty sure they're contract plans. They don't advertise them as being pre-paid.
You just get a cheaper plan because you're not paying an extra $10 a month for getting a $400 for free or whatver.

this is my approach, just left verizon. I have the sim card waiting at home already, will go get a micro-sim on nov 13th, order the phone, wait and win. I utilize google voice, so voice/messaging doesn't matter to me and 5gb will not be "enough" but it'll be ok for the $30 a month

Call T-mobile and ask to be forwarded to their business department, tell them you're calling about the unadvertised 50$ a line unlimited business plan.
Verizon has the same plan as well, they're just not allowed to talk about you ask them about it; every company probably has this.
Has anyone else done this?
I will be very interested to see if this works for individuals as well.

I'm an advocate of social engineering, call T-mobile and do the following:
1 ) Get kicked to a live representative
2) Tell them you were supposed to be forwarded to the business department
3) Once forwarded to the business department, tell them you were previously talking about switching all of your business lines to the unadvertised 50$ a month plan
4)Ask for plan requirements
5) Hang up until you can hash out wither you can provide what they'll want
Edit: I'm only posting about this because I think all phone carriers are scummy for having plans that they are not allowed to advertise but will give you it if you "know to ask" which is the epitome of 1%'ers giving themselves hooked up deals the general public (including small business owners/charities) do not know about.
I mean really, people who have a Paypal donation thing going can probably qualify to be on this plan as long as they are being taxed on their income.
I'm just wondering. Would this $50 business plan offer any benefits compared to their unlimited plan already, besides pricing?
Just wondering. Thanks in advance.

Yes, the advertised unlimited plans are unlimited in the most basic way; after you've used a certain amount of data you are locked to 2G until the remainder of your service month even with advertised business plans and your speed will take a huge hit.
The difference with the unadvertised plan is that you can use 4G in a truly unlimited way; there will be no throttling or speed reductions whatsoever no matter how much data you smash down.
I mean I can confirm this exact same plan exists at T-mobile, verizon.. It might even be the kind of situation where all carriers have this plan in common since at the end of the day everything is owned by mostly the same people.
The thing is there is greed no matter where you look; from a human perspective if you are the provider of something you're going to want to give you and yours the best of what you have and try to avoid giving that quality to other people to keep it 'special'
It's not legally possible to have "VIP" plans, but it is legal to have an unadvertised plan people will not know to ask about unless someone tells them; the 'normal person' is further kept away from it because it's a "business plan" and you have to prove with tax forms and other things that you are a business owner.
I just wanted to talk about this as a middle-finger to providers which throttle which is everyone and also for people who are "technically" business owners in some way; or for people who are and weren't fortunate enough to be made aware that better things exist for them
So is there any way to get this plan without being an official business owner? I'm switching from Sprint SERO with 500 anytime minutes and unlimited text and data to T-Mobile, but I don't want to spend $80 for unlimited data if I don't have to.

Ha, I used to be self-employed and am a retired computer engineer/programmer, but it's not worth the hassle just to get free data.
