Finally found a place to shoe horn in my first post!!
Yes mate, all you need is GalaxSim Unlock from the Play Store. Open the app, then simply press the 'unlock' button. Job done!

In order to use galaxysim you have to have root permissions, also galaxysim.seems to require an inapp purchase unlock galaxy s is free. As for will this effect updates if you root. The answer is yes at least through.OTA, but you can unroot after you unlock and you should be fine.

rooting is not jailbreak,
so its not the same,
rooting is giving applications the ability to modify the system ROM,
there is a app on playstore called "galaxy toolbox" by Doky,
after root just download the app for network unlock

Automatic sim unlock

Yesterday when i rooted my phone, flashed Liquidsmooth rc9 and then reseted via triangleaway and flashed a sweden carrier rom and then the poland rom my phone worked with my old operator.
Does root actually remove sim lock?
Root doesnt unlock your phone however there is an app available in the market which allows you to sim unlock if youre rooted.
Google it.. you will find it
Edit: its called galaxsim unlock

Using this app may turn your device status into modified. There's not really a proper solution to that at the moment, but you can restore status by removing the app (and SuperSU) again and rebooting your phone
.

Alright, thanks. So this will delete all my files on the phone or what? It wont effect my external sd right?

You can use triangle away to remove the binary counter back to zero and change the status to stick so you can return it to customer support

Wow... this is amazing
I tried this even with all the warnings and it worked fine. As per patching the exploit after with the app I passed. Will play the waiting game for a fix. I have saw some where else that Samsung has started rolling out the patch in the UK already.

OMG what a lot of code, I have no idea what that means. However I do know that to root your S4 it's very easy to use djembey method. Please look in this forum for his thread and thoroughly read all instructions in OP. You can't go wrong. It worked very well, first time for me no problems what's so ever.
All the best.

Well this is not the place you want. A 2 generations out of date EOL device board that is not even close to the same device...
Did you try googleing if your device has a root method it is a rather obscure Euro only device.
