If the device is unlocked - Transformer TF300T General

My device is unlocked, but will Asus still want to repair it if I got some hardware issues? (with payments of cause) for example my screen breaks? Or battery doesn't really work anymore?
Sent from my ASUS Transformer Pad TF300T using XDA Premium HD app

Ask as service in you country, I read one user from Germany get repaired his device when it was unlocked without paying. It matter on the police of you ASUS service in you country. If you will pay the will repair it without any problems, but if the will change the motherboard you will have problem unlocking it again.

They change the motherboard when repairing? Wow but its easy to unlock lol xD
Sent from my ST25a using xda app-developers app

This matter what is broken, if it is something on the motherboard or it is a brick the mostly replaces the complete board :/.

Caution. There have been some reports of those sending unlocked tablets to Asus, and having them returned locked with no means to re-unlock them because of Asus loading - assumption here - code that doesn't contain a serial number. This renders their unlock app useless.

[Petition][UPDATED]Unlock the bootloader for the Asus TF300, Unlock is Here!

http://www.change.org/petitions/asu...oader-for-the-tf300-tablet-and-future-tablets
Please share this with everyone in the android community.
Update!!! The unlock tool is available on the Asus site. I'll post a copy later. Thanks to maspro for pointing it out. See his thread here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1667596.

Come on people. We need to send a message to Asus. This is how the TF201 got unlocked. We need more signatures!
There's a minor error on the petition's last paragraph:
"We assure you that fostering a vibrant development community around the Prime will promote sales and establish ASUS' reputation in the community as an excellent and receptive supplier of mobile devices"
It should say TF300 not Prime

How many signatures were there for the Prime? Anyone remember this? I do remember that there was a lot to do about this back then.
But since Asus has taken the descision once for the prime, it should be much easier to copy/paste for the 300 as they already descided what and how.

I was the 50th.
Curiosity sake, we're already able to achieve root without an unlocked bootloader. Would a locked bootloader really prevent us from custom Roms like CM9?
I signed it yesterday. I really need the unlocked bootloader, otherwise I will have to buy the super-expensive Prime!

How does the RMA process work?

I bought a slightly used Nexus 4 from a guy I bumped into yesterday morning. This afternoon, I wanted to flash a factory image (occam) but no matter what I do, my computer won't recognize my phone. This computer can see my Nexus 7 without a problem, but no go with the phone. The phone just charges.
I have uninstalled the adb devices, samsung and lg devices as well, all purged from the computer but nothing when I connect the N4.
Am I eligible to call in for an rma?
Sent from my GT-N7005 using xda premium
Call Google and see what they say. They will ask for the IMEI of the phone and the email address used when that phone was ordered. So you may need to bump into whoever sold you the phone again.

Oh yeah, and they send the RMA info to the email address used when the phone was ordered. So you'll probably need access to that.

I had a problem that was very similar. (Daughter board failure) and the guy that sold me the phone stopped answering and refused to communicate.
I ended up having to send the phone to LG for repair. It was covered by the manufacturer warranty, but I had to be without a nexus for 2 weeks. (LG refuses to send a phone pre emptively like Google.
That's one reason to avoid the gray market and stick to ordering from Google directly.
Your only hope is if the original owner bought it from Google and transfers the info over to you.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 2
You can get the warranty transferred from the original guy to you. My buddy had to do this, he bought a used one and it went bad. Just contact the guy and call the Google play store and tell them you want the warranty transferred. 3 days later you will get a new N4, then of course ship the old one back.
The seller is not responding to my text or call. So, my option is to send it in to LG for service repair. I have initiated a service request (ship it in) and have to wait for return authorization.
Will they refuse service if your Nexus 4 is unlocked?

Ok,lets try again. My Nexus 4 is bootloader unlocked. With a broken usb port, I don't have a way to relock it. No, it has supersu but no root binaries.
Is my n4 still returnable under LG service repair or will they throw a cow?

I don't know if lg will care about the bootloader or not, but there's an app in the play store that will relock it, iirc.

So, just received an email message from LG, states that in-warranty service must be go through the same place where you bought it. Only out of warranty service can be performed by LG.
How do you get LG to provide service on your nexus 4?
Sent from my GT-N7005 using xda premium
I think the out of warranty work they are referring to would be something like a cracked screen, which isn't covered under the standard warranty.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
so, a borked usb port on the phone is covered under warranty service but a cracked screen isn't??? makes no sense to me, but whatever. I'm just going to sell it on ebay. so sick of this non-sense.
LG sux. Eggs. One more reason to stay away from LG products. Never had problems with Samsung, ever. I had to get a Galaxy Nexus sent in to Samsung for warranty repair, actually it had a bad usb port, just like the N4, Samsung repaired it under warranty. Didn;t give me any problem. LG sux. Eggs. Another mental note--stay away from LG products.

How much costs the RMA for "Unrecoverable bootloader error"? Is it really the $ 202 for the whole mainboard?
Somewhere in a polish forum I've read that a user got it the RMA for around $ 20.. but maybe his was just softbriked?!
Well, Asus should have to possibility to delete easily all partitions and reflash fastboot via apx, don't they?

Best buy was a lot more helpful than Asus... they let me exchange it 3 times without losing or using my replacement plan.
Sent from my XT907 using Tapatalk 2
I'm on my third tablet. My first had a dead pixel but was otherwise perfect. Walmart exchanged it with no hassles. The second started out perfect, but within a couple weeks, the touch input gave out. I would get ghost presses by lightly squeezing the left edge of the tablet (no more force than was required to hold the tablet with one hand; that was how I first noticed the ghost touches), then I would get random ghost touches regardless, and within a couple days, it didn't respond to touch input at all. That one also got returned without hassles.
This third tablet has been great minus the I/O issues. If the I/O could be fixed, my tablet would be perfect.
My first TF300 hand issues with the touch screen and went back to best buy for an exchange. Before that I had an TF101 whet through had to exchange my first two TF101 and the third one screen went out after about a year, so I upgraded to the TF300.
I I/O issues with just about all Asus tablets and the fact that I'vd had to exchange every Asus tablet at lest one leads me to think this will be my last Asus tablet. Even though I love Asus tablet and dock combo but, I'll probably be going with a Samsung next time.

The TF300 I have is from that same sale last year. IO seems to be better with a custom ROM. Only real issue mine has is that the micro SD slot broke last week and the card will not stay inserted. Not a big deal for me though.
