Hi All
I used File Expert to create a backup of all the applications that I have installed on my N7. I then located the file on the internal storage via File Expert without issue. However, when I connect it to my Windows 7 laptop to copy it to the laptop, I can't actually see the folder. I then copied it to the Download folder that I can see in Windows but when I open Download folder under Windows 7, the backup folder is .. you guessed it ... not there.
Am I going mad ? Can someone please tell me what I might be doing wrong ? Do I need to install the ASUS driver (seeing how it is an ASUS device) ?
This is really driving me insane.
All help will be most appreciated.
Cheers

If I saved all my Android files on my computer from a previous build, can I somehow get the contacts out of them files ? perhaps there's a file that contains all contacts ?
log into your gmail and extract them that way
That's the weird part, for some reason the number I'm looking for wasn't logged by Gmail, and that's why with the current build I didn't have his number imported as the rest.
The contacts are stored in a SQLite3 database file so the file format is ".db"
The development tool Android Debug Bridge (ADB) can be used to extract the file from an EMULATOR
ADB can also extract the file from a phone but it must be rooted first AND the ADB drivers must be installed on your machibe as well
(Rooting is NOT for beginners though)
The contacts.db file is stored in the protected system memory, the file path is:
data/data/com.android.providers.contacts/databases/contacts.db

If I understood correctly this file should be in the SD card, but I cannot find one, nor the directory /com.android.providers.contacts/ .
Your phone doesnt think its on the sdcard. It thinks its on the phone itself.
For my adb uses I use a program called android commander. It will allow you to navigate to that file.
Try using root explorer app, it will get you there...
My issue is not with the contacts on my working phone system, but on the files I copied before I've change to a new build. I thought there may be a chance it's on one of those files, but it sound much complicated then that.
If you don't want to try itsme_4ucz's solution, why not copy the files back to your phone and sync again with Gmail?
Because for some reason the build didn't load, that was the reason why I switched builds in the first place.
I don't want to root my phone for that, I'm pretty noob
I could be wrong, but...
Wouldn't that file be in the data.img file system image? If so, you can mount that file in Linux, or most likely Windows, then browse to the location mentioned above.
That'll at least get you there, but you still have to get the data out. Perhaps copy that one to the phone's current file system. If not, I'm sure someone will come up with something if the above posts don't work.
Hi! i did a root with motochopper..and after it when i wanted to transfer a file from pc to a folder of the s 4 i saw a message like this the device stop responding or is disconnected...but when i transfer a file outside the folders i can and its all ok.So i did a reset and i installed the original german firmware that there is on net but after the reset and after i installed this firmware....i cant still transfer files inside the galaxy s 4 folders..but outside them i can.So i guess, is not the root? is a characteristic of the s 4? if not how can i solve this..i have windows 7.
Edit i rooted the phone with another method found on net..now i can put a file in many folder but not in the obb folder..why?
not entirely sure why it is like that. but the easiest fix is to move the file you want to put into obb somewhere else on your phone and then use a root explorer on your device to move it into obb.
With my former rooted S2 I was perfectly able to connect it with my desktop and the program Android Commander recognised it. I used that software to transfer files to the root folders.
Now I have a stock-rooted S4, I wanted to use Android Commander again. But alas, it doesn't recognise my phone.
I don't have any clue as to what is causing Android Commander to not 'see' my S4.
I would like to know if anyone is able to use this software with their S4.
Or if anyone has an idea how to fix my problem.
Thanks.

You have to update the ADB counsel on bin folder
Steps:
1- Download View attachment bin.rar
2- Extract with replace to all 4 files on bin folder "C:\ProgramFiles\Android Commander\bin" or "C:\ProgramFiles (x86)\Android Commander\bin" if you have windows x64.
3- enjoy using Android Commander:good:
Note: either change the folder security to add permission for everyone to allow winrar to extract and replace the files directly or extract the rar file outside (i.e. desktop) and simply copy and replace the files.
If it help you, please hit thanks below:good:

Thankyou very much dear,,, its working fine after update bin folder...
This helped me with AC not recognizing the S4.
Anyway, how do you get it to obtain root access? On the Xperia I had to use an app called ADBD Insecure, but it doesn't seem to work on the S4.
I have flashed official CyanogenMod 10.1. I have installed the driver and using USB debugging. When I try to copy a file from pc to my nexus 4, this window pop up. How can I solve it?
That particular directory has problems with the USB Debugging sequence AFAIK.
For me my Titanium Backup folder wont work.
What I did was, I copy it to elsewhere that can be copied, then when I'm back to the ROM, use certain file manager to copy again.
I know its time exhausting, but hey, at least it works!
Just copy to somewhere that works.

No any error, whenever I start copying, progress bar of copying is stopped on 50% to 70% and after clicking on that zip file windows start zip file copying again and again
Today I have rooted 2 nexus 4 devices, 1st was successfully installed caynogenmod 10.1.3 and working normal and 2nd device cannot copy any .zip files,
I can't understand exact problem, Windows 7 stop copying after some 50% or 70%, and if I open that copied zip windows 7 start copying again and again, I tried another method, I sent cm-10.1.3-mako.zip from my another Android device to nexus 4, then I installed cm-10.1.3-mako.zip successfully, after installation CM-10 device is just booting, and cannot complete boot. just booting and booting, and I copied cm 10 zip from my desktop, but progress bar shows "copying from C:\Users\INDRAJ~1\AppData\Local\Temp\WPDNSE\SID-{10001,,13874577408}"
I did not understand why windows copy zip file form WPDNSE folder, this folder in temp, the original copy source is from desktop,
I have installed my stock 4.3 rom from CWM backup but now I can't download any app from play store the error is "Error while retrieving information from the server [RPC:s-7:AEC-0]"
Can anyone PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE Help to fix this problems :crying: :crying:
