Hi everyone,
Does anyone know where we can download or view a list of current and previous Franco kernels? I'm using r25 on the Nexus 7 for example, but preferred the stability of r23. I of course forgot to backup anything before moving to r25. Definitely my mistake, but I thought it would be very handy to have a list of previous versions and can't for the life of me find it.
I've tried searching the forums and online but can't seem to find anything on this.
Thanks!
Nevermind...
Gah. .Nevermind.. figures I just realized they're all available by the download link on the Franco thread. I was originally using the Franco Kernel App and not directly downloading from xda. I can flash r23 myself now..

Maybe this thread will help some other dimwit like me lol..
Cheers.

Hey guys have just installed taboonay's Rom on my Acer and so far it is not too bad. I am using AOKP on my Galaxy Nexus which is awesome, is there anything similar for the Acer. Also does anyone use Franco's Kernel at all? If not, what is a good one?

With ICS, there is only 1 OC/UV kernel, and that is by EZTerry. With kernels, each is specific to the device&OS, so you really can't swap kernels around. You can find EZTerry's ICS kernel easily in the Dev forum.
AOKP? At one time there were a couple folks tried doing a Kang but they were using a non-GPL kernel, so they were not allowed to post here.

Hi,
so, i'm looking for a good kernel for my N4, but... I can't really decide. I heard that franco and faux's kernel were good, but i can't see why. What's the difference between those kernels ? What's the features ? What's the difference between the stock one, and those one ?
Thanks for your answers !:good:
I'm running the matr1x kernel and I've liked it. I tried the others and this one provided the best battery life.

bricked kernel is the best!
look at this!

Sorry to bump this post, but i'm still looking for the pros and the cons of each kernel...
I didn't find any changelog or features for franco's kernel, and faux's kernel seems good... But i don't have my N4 for the moment... So i can't test them ! Thanks for your answer
Franco's kernel gets a changelog posted every time he does an update, it just isn't added to the first post. If you use his app (free version available) to download the newest kernel, the changelog is given through that as well.
I don't know how Franco compares to other kernels since i haven't tried them, but all the standard options seem to be there. Latest update added gamma control.
I believe every device reacts differently to kernels. I personally get the best battery life from Matr1x.

Hey folks !
I recently flashed a 4.4 port of the N5 but missed my Pie control so I reverted back to my previous ROM (Xylon 4.2.2) I didn't do any backup with CWM so I had to fully reflash all my stuff. Things I've done successfully. But I noticed that the latest Xylon 4.2.2 handle the color thing very badly. (too dark). Is there anything I can do to get thing better here ? kernel or something that have a good color profil ? I love the N4 because of the natural color it provides but here it's like I'm back on Samsung Galaxy Nexus and I kind of dislike.
Any help will be highly appreciated guys.
Thanks a lot

Hi, you need to flash another kernel with a different color profile, I'm not sure which one you can try (as I'm using KitKat right now and I got the phone a few months ago) but I'm certain that is kernel related.
I remember using PA and the colors were darky too, and those color settings were on the kernel.

hi, so you are searching for a 4.2.2 kernel?
hmm, thats kind of hard, because most devs updated their kernel sources about 2 month ago onto a higher lvl.
here is a link to faux's kernels for 4.2.2
faux.androidro.ms/mako/jb42/
if it suits your needs, you can edit the color profiles with tricksterMOD (from the playstore) like these:
docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AoDp2qRui0u0dGE4T2gtSDBTRHVFSldPS2RrX1Rya0E#gid=6
.. or take one of the build in color profils, if you purchased faux kernel enhancement pro
also there can be other old kernels found, e.g. by franco or DerKernel (in fact, last one does not support color profiles :/ )

found a pa kernel on goo.im, but compiled in february :/
goo.im/devs/paranoidandroid/roms/mako/pa_mako-Kernel422_CalibratedHoloBlue.zip
...
Thanks guys.
Yep I know it's tricky to find, i'd like to be on 4.4 for better luck but there is no 4.4 based ROM with Pie control yet.
I will backup my ROM with cwm and try to flash some in your post and keep you posted. (Goo.im link is down due to the moving on server they're doing there)
Thanks a lot bro I'll try the faux kernel.

EDIT : Faux did the trick thanks for the link !

Bootloop on DirtyUnicorn
Hi , nice work. I've been using HellsDoctor and the battery life is just amazing... but, when I try to flash TARDIS I got bootloop.
Running DirtyUnicorns[Du_mako_4.4.4_20140823.v.7.9-OFFICIAL] and 3.4.104-hells-Doctor-R6.
I am sure I've followed the steps and also I tried some combinations by myself but still isn't working.
Thx in advance.
Which kernel version
I'm using "fiui ROM" -http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-4/development/rom-fiui-nexus-01-10-2014-t2892753
Please suggest what version of your kernel will run on it. I tried the latest versions and i'm getting bootloops.

CM version
Hello, and thanks for this awesome kernel!
I was trying to flash Dirty Unicorns and Hell's Doctor today, but all kinds of strange behavior ensued. (namely: I lost my display, while ADB could see the device normally).
I flashed the CM version, so am I correct to believe that I should flash the AOSP one?

I will answer my own question here, based on the search in DU's thread:
We need:
- AOSP kernel version
- Revert_4.4.3_Wifi_Fix.zip from http://bit.ly/makostuff (thanks @gorilla p )
and If you want to flash TARDIS, chose CAF dalvik libs.
Tested with HD3_R6 on DU 8.1 & 8.2 and all is well.
Hello,I just wanna ask is this kernel working on aosp lollipop? Which version should I use?
I would also recommend checking out Unleashed kernel along with the latest UKM 3.5 for Synapse.
What does this mean. Every time I open synapse it pops up.LRX21M with hells Dr3-R6.

I have clean flashed Lollipop on my N4. Can I simply download the kernel, tardis, and UKM and flash them as per usual, like on KitKat?
I've read through the original thread and it appears some people are talking about a "permissive" boot image? What for? Do I need it or not?
How do I flash this on a clean Lollipop install? It's not clear.
Thanks for the help
I'm having problems with the battery like someone reported before.
The Wi-Fi seems to appear active even if I shutdown.
Some search boxes when are suggesting options the image appears strange.
As I am a new user I can't post images.
Can you include volume rocker wake phone, please?
@AnaguaMateus The volume rocker is included in the N5X-ROM
I'm using this ROM and it has very cool features, I recommand it A new build is going to be release in few hours
Also a FULL WIPE is recommended if you have those bugs

YES it is working on AOSP Lollipop Also you should use the latest L version (L11 for the moment) in combination with the TARDIS-L-Aroma

It means that your N4 didn't shut down properly last time so Synapse isn't applying the parameters you've set in the last session/boot

I think the easiest way for you is to install HellsCore Kernel Manager intead of Synapse, the most important parameters are configurables and you don't need to deal with those permissive boot images, UKM, and flash things ;P

Hi,
The download link it now working for me. Can you give me an alternate link?

Hi barome, congratulations on this awesome kernel.
Are there plans for releasing L kernel CM based, so we can use it with liquidsmooth?
Thanks
Cpu min set to 1.5ghz
I have a problem with the latest L12 kernel. When using tricksterMOD or any other kernel tweaker app, the minimum cpu frequency is set to 1.5ghz. And I can't seem to make it lower because it jumps back to 1.5ghz immediately. What shall I do?
Stuck on logo of Hells Doctor
I flashed the kernal ad TARDIS mod on my nexus 4. but now I am stuck on logo screen of HD by Barome. Help me
Boot into recovery (hold power for 10 seconds to reboot, then volume down to go into fastboot mode) and then flash your ROM again.
Reboot to see if it boots ok, then flash HD, without TARDIS. If this boots successfully, flash TARDIS, with extra care to choose the correct dalvik (if applicable)
Hi All,
I've managed to get Lollipop running on Nexus 7 (2012) Wi-Fi. I rooted my Nexus using the Toolkit, and have flashed latest TWRP.
Post Lollipop install I have also cleared the Cache ( as recommended) and the tablet does appear a little better in terms of lag.
But, I've read a lot of posts that this Nexus can be Overclocked. I'm not looking at some insane OC but I'm looking for a decent OC that won't kill battery, etc.
So, a few questions:
1. I've read about ElementalX kernel but just want to confirm that I can flash it through TWRP, without issues.
2. What's a good OC that I can aim for (1.6Ghz/2.0Ghz?)? I'm looking for a decent boost in performance without killing battery.
Looking for some advice before I take the plunge.
Edit: Just realised that I've raised this thread in the wrong Nexus 7 area. Could I please request a MOD to move this to the Nexus 7 2012 area?
Anybody?
1. How else would you flash the kernel?
2. Ask in the thread dedicated to the kernel in question?
Running ElementalX at 1728Mhz without issue on 5.0. As suggested, check the kernel thread for any specific questions about it.

Hey thanks for getting back. I'm assuming that you're using ElementalX on Nexus 2012 and not 2013?
OP, if you need to move the thread, report the thread's first post and request it to be moved. I think it's already been done this time, we're just awaiting a mod to move it.
Moved to correct board (sorry, holidays are always a bit rough on us staff, but we are getting to it all, we promise!!!)
