SMS paying for apps? - Xperia Play General

Hey, it isnt a question, but discussion. Half year ago on some Android news page in my country was an article about "SMS paying for apps and games possible", half year then, searching on internet and nothing. I would like to read more about it cuz some countries support that, but not many.

If you mean paying for apps via your bill or credit on GPlay then yes, but its limited to a few carriers.

I think you can already buy games from Gameloft website via SMS .
I already bought 2 games doing so , since paid applications aren't available on Play store here in Egypt

I know right, but its more expensive than on Play store and i dont want to buy Gameloft games.

Paid Apps now available in many countries. OFFICIALLY

Today I read a post on android police that android market is now available officially in many countries. My Country happens to be one of them.
It says no action required on user. Does this mean I can say goodbye to MarketEnabler???

India is on the list over people who can buy, but not in the list over who can develop.

[Q] gameloft games...

Hello everyone, not sure if this is the correct spot for this post but i wanted to know if any of you have purchased any games directly from gameloft. They are currently having a holiday sale where u buy a game for $4.99 and you get one free. Now to me that sounds like to good to be true but im still curious you know. They do have some pretty good games like N.O.V.A. and much more. Any feedback from you guys would be awesome.
Heres is the url where i found their website
http://wapshop.gameloft.com/us/spri...02=216209736754a7692829&from=ADID-21999&c=223
It's a legit offer if that's what you are asking. They have a lot of cool games but I usually just wait until they offer free games and then I download them. I was able to get Hero of Sparta and Let's Golf for free.
warning about gameloft, it was confirmed that they double charged lots of their customers that purchased a game from them, I didn't have a problem after purchasing Dungeon Hunter so its not an every customer problem but there are many still having issues getting refunds

Hey, did anyone actually do this deal? I ordered one game, I paid, and then I ordered another game from the free list and... I paid again... how do I get the free games?
join the marketplace gameloft, sheesh.
i bought asphalt 5 or something a while back and i dont think i get free updates, unless i buy it again.. aint that some BS?
gameloft doesnt deserve my money until joining.
I refuse to pay for games and apps...the phone was expensive enough..especially the stupid ten extra dollars a month for 4g (which has no coverage when you live way out in the sticks)

I did this twice. The first time there was a "download free game" link that was displayed after i made the purchase, so that was easy. The second time I didn't get that same link. I ended up emailing them and they sent me a link for a free game. I personally haven't had any problems with them, but have only made 3 or 4 purchases with them since getting my EVO, so YMMV. They did take a while to respond to my email (5 or 6 days) but since it was around Christmas time I'll give them a pass on that.
I think they have some of he best mobile games around. Silly as it may sound but I'm after console like gaming and their games are about as close as you can get. Also, EA has a deal right now , .99 cents a game. That includes nfs shift, which imo is the best looking racer we have. I remember when games were 15 to 30 dollars for games, abiet, this was before the iPhone and Android application model existed.

Gameloft Games at 99p

I was just playing Pumpkins vs Monsters when I noticed one of the ads at the bottom offering Gameloft games for 99p.
I clicked on it, got directed to the Gameloft site and all games for the SGS II are 99p, got most of them already but just picked up Fast Five, NOVA 2 and Dungeon Hunter 2.
Not bad at all, worth getting Pumpkins Vs Monsters (which is a great game in itself) to be able to click on the ad to get cheap gameloft games
thanks for the info

Does this not work on AT&T? When I got to the main site wapshop.gameloft.com, it tells me I can't download their games. When I go to the link kersey posted and I try to buy a game, it doesn't send me the pay code.
Works for me on T-mobile UK. I'm pretty certain this deal is only for UK users.
Cheers for the heads up!

Same for me (in Austria). But at least many Austrians have the chance to get it from Germany's Play Store through friends/relatives in Germany. But thing is, the recommended retail price of € 549.- for the Nexus 4 16 GB won't correspondend to the actual selling prices. The first retailer is already announcing it for € 399.- (http://geizhals.at/eu/859912), others will follow. The only reason for this crazy pricing is probably LG's try to protect their Optimus G (which is very similar to the Nexus 4) of being unsellable...
...
why google don't open the Google Play Device store to more countries ..
what is the reason for google to select or not to select a country ? resistance from local retail or mobile operators ?
such a big price diff is ridiculous ..btw..
Yeah, I'm always getting "this product is not available in your country", Portugal here, and I just don't see the reason why they do it like that. Whats the difference betwen the countrys that justifies this regon lock in apps, devices, etc.?
Sent from my Nexus S using xda app-developers app
There may not be a technical reason for limiting the Play Store to certain countries.
Allowing sales in a country opens up all kinds of legal liability. You have to be able to collect and submit applicable taxes, adhere to fair trade laws, deal with customs and tariffs, etc.

What's the best way to make a paid app?

Make a free version and a paid 'pro' version?
Make a single free app with in-app purchase that will upgrade it to a pro version.
I think the second way is more convenient because you don't need to handle two apps but I see the first case a lot more often on market.

I was asking myself that same question for months. I decided to go with your first option. I know most people are going to say that micro-transaction is the way to go now but I feel like its cheating the buyers out there.I recently bought a game for $3 and it also had micro-transaction as well. I paid for the game, dont want to keep on paying for perks that should be free.
I guess it just depends on the developer. What type of game are you looking into developing?

In all honesty, I see PAID apps on their way out by 2014. Everyone always goes for the lowest common denominator. So, the objective from a marketing standpoint would be to release only free apps and have them all have in-app purchases. Everyone will download something for free, and then without having to go back and download something else, they'll just tick the in app purchase box.
But, the pro apps that offer a lot will do just fine as paid.
IAP(In App purchases) have been the trend for a while now. I get your point about customers who rather download a free app over a paid app. In the long run customers will be spending more money on those free apps because of the IAP! I know someone who downloaded a free game and paid $40.00 for an IAP that gave him all the weapons and items.
I feel like if you have a good product, it will sell.

Also pro for 2 apps is they will give you 2x exposure on the play.
But if paid version only removes ads, will customers buy it?
You would need to add more features in the paid app to attract the customers to buying the game.

I have a way.
Sell a pro app with promotion price(on you need, like Plants v.s Zombies in IPhone has limited time promo. Can get you big explodes for app)

Like some time your app price on $4.99(this is too high). You put a price for everyone on like only 5 day(time you get).Put the price on $0.99 or Free.(This is one of the marketing strategies)

Yeah, free version with ads and option to upgrade to a pro + separate pro version. Pro version will have no ads and more functionality. Would be this fine or confusing for users?
