It is great news.. but it is not confirmedthat the vibrant will be getting 2.3 in mid may... that is for the UK. The date for north America is not stated there .. hopefully its soon.

What is their guarantee that they won't do the same they did with FROYO?

Just be happy we may have the slightest chance of getting Gingerbread.

They didn't do OTA updates on the Vibrant for some reason. The Fascinate, Epic 4G, and Captivate got OTA updates to Froyo.
Samsung hates us / T-Mobile said no. :/

That is what I'm wondering. Just because Samsung is ready, doesn't mean we'll get it, right? Doesn't T-Mobile need to mess around with it for a few months too before we see it on our phones? Or is T-Mobile's part already done?

Try market enabler, you should be able to get around that. One downside with market enabler is you need to be rooted

Doesn't work for me. I can install the Amazon Appstore, but it says that appstore is not yet available in my region.

If it makes you feel any better, we can't access Samsung Movies in the U.S. because it detects we have a UK phone. We can't access Samsung Movies in the UK because it's picking up a U.S. IP. All is not a bed of roses here in the U.S.

to be fair, the guys in the good ol usa have waited a retarded amount of time for this phone. also, i wouldn't worry bout the movies...any that samsung have ive already played on the gs2..just rip em or download them...it plays everything.

Worked here from UK, used market enabler and entered loads of fake details, it asks for address and credit card details so used fakenamegenerator.com to come up with something. Great app so much better than stock but takes a bit of getting used to

Could be worth checking the Samsung Hub. All I used to get was the Take That offer but today I got the movies and music offer codes.

I can confirm this, I tried it a few days ago when it was first mentioned in this forum, and it worked well. I got 52 Songs for free, I didn't try Samsung Movies yet.

WOW, thanks for this! Can confirm I have a German Note from Amazon.de and I've just filled in the info on the Samsung Hub app and received my two codes.
Was pretty gutted when I thought I lost out on the UK only offer seeing as I live in the UK, but this more than makes up for it.

I have this now on my Austrian note and I am based in the UK too. For those just activating their Samsung hub vouchers, remember to only tap movie or music track once. Otherwise you can easily download multiple copies of same track and exhaust your vouchers without even realising. Seems like common sense, but be warned...the Hub application gives u no indication or warning that a track has already been downloaded.

I'm in UK. Got my note in November and tried to get this offer a few times but no luck.
Uninstalled all Samsung hub updates and cleared my Samsung data, tried again and got it, so not sure if it's just been activated or the closeout fixed it.

I just thought I would share this with you people. I work for a carrier (don't even bother asking which one ) and we received our test unit today!!! It's the grey version and it looks totally awesome. The screen real-estate is just outta this world. I put it side to side with my S3 and looking at them, I became a bit pissed at my purchase as when the Note 2 was announced, I had thought that we would never carry it (ok, I've already said enough)!
I'm sorry I can' really say much but I had it in my hands for about 5 mins...! It was a 16gb model. I witnessed popup s note, popup browser (NICE), the new menu when you pull the pen out...oh yeah and this thing is FAST!
I have no idea about the release date (they wouldn't tell us), although I find it a bit strange that we are receiving a unit so soon. I've read on several sites that it would be next November...!

You must be in the united states, you said several sites said November ( that's US release month) and you said you didn't expect it so soon ( Europe is expecting it starting this Friday, going on next week). I'm gonna take a wild guess and say you work for.....sprint or at&t but I'm not sure which one

Nothing is ever certain in this world...
I didn't actually have enough time with it (5mins) to notice any potential bugs (and mind you, we only received the phone today). I can ask my colleague who's in charge of the device though to see if he notices anything odd.

I do have that info. It seems that even my employer is announcing it on its website so the info is already in the public domain. So here goes: SGH-T889V.
You won't find much when googleing that, except for a reference related to Samsung's Smartview app.

Engadget posted an article about this saying it is only available to Korean customers, but it's in the Samsung store to download. I'm not sure if it is the same app since they both look different?

Speaking of Mobeam, isn't the S4 phones supposed to have a mobeam app? I haven't seen one. Do you know anything about it?

Ok, I snooped around a bit and I found out that Mobeam is actually hardware integrated into the S4. I have not tried this yet but I read that if you input *#0*# into the dial pad it open up a diagnostic. You can then select barcode emulator and see it work. I also read that apps taking advantage of Mobeam will start to be released at the end of the month. Samsung wallet will also include the Mobeam technology, but isn't widely available yet. I would put up a link to the info but it is on another board and I don't want to violate the SPAM policies.

Almost! On March 14, 2013, Samsung Mobile announced that the Samsung Galaxy S4 smartphone will be embedded with mobeam’s patented technology. The mobile device is expected to hit shelves sometime in April.
Edit: a user on androidcentral forums emailed mobeam and was written back that the app should be launching at the end of this month.

It works but everything is in dollars and all the coupons are Us based. So I guess they are making apps on a country by country basis since the Korean one looks different as well.

How do you get Samsung Wallet to transmit the Mobeam?
If I run the barcode emulator from *#0*# it scans fine, but that barcode is fixed to 1234567890128 (EAN13).
The only thing Samsung Wallet is doing, is turning the screen brightness up 100% so image barcode scanners can scan the barcode.
My laser scanner doesn't see anything from the Samsung Wallet that cmjkxa posted.
Also everytime I open the app, Wallet says there is an update. Is it possible someone can post a newer apk?

Mobeam hasn't officially launched yet and the newer apk didn't change anything. But I'll post the apk in a bit.
