Hello,
I am new to Evo 4G. Mine came with Android 2.3.5 which may be the latest official ROM for this phone. Before I start trying out different ROMS, I thought I'd ask for some recommendations.
I usually prefer the stock Android look and feel. But it seems like there isn't a CM10 release for this phone that is stable. For example the one here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1785498 appears to not support either of the cameras. This is not a huge deal breaker but a bit of a bummer.
Additionally I would love to save the screen real estate by keeping the capacitive buttons at the bottom of the phone functional. Is there a modern ROM that uses those buttons instead of giving up screen space to new virtual buttons? This one is kinda important to me.
Thanks.
Decks reloaded is an unbelivable rom, with all the sparks and whistles its cm based, but runs 10x better than any new phone could posibly I flashed every week until I found this rim its been my daily since may, thats saying a lot, and everytime I flash another rom, I just go back, no errors at all just follow directions, everything is perfect on flash, its under original development, happy flashing I'm sure you'll love it

I noticed the Milestone/Droid running firmware 2.0.1 (or perhaps even later) has a equalizer app. What is it exactly and can it be ported to other devices? It would be awesome to have this Android wide (specifically on my Desire )

Wow thanks man. On the headphones it seen to work. Nothing major, just some subtle changes. Will try the speaker tomorrow as everyone is asleep over here right now
Won't install to Telus Hero
any way to install this app to HTC Hero I keep getting an error message saying this app cannot be installed on this phone.
testing on galaxy s *vibrant*
installs just fine on tmobile vibrant will test out
Thanks
no difference on my epic
it doesn't work on my Samsung Galaxy spica
Installed to telus hero running 2.1
I think this app is incompatible with android 1.x it's minimum firmware requirements are 2.x, because I installed it no problem to my updated hero, it works but I can only hear a slight difference in the sound when changing eqs and the surround effects are very faint, it seems that a certain hack is required for it to actually work.

If you wants to litsen music with equaliz mode. then you can try Power Amp.....it's Great......
For it to work you need the Libaudioflinger.so from system/lib/ as far as I know, so you should try and see if it works after, but make a nandroid backup just in case it boot loops
Installed on my HTC EVO Shift. Seems to work. Will test in car tomorrow. Might just be a placebo effect.
Seems to work on my EVO Shift. Sound and volume much better.
Shifted from neverland using XDA Premium App

Can't wait, cyanogenmod 7?
Niiice! Can't wait!
Gotta love cyanogen mod
On another note, I hate getting all that dust around the screen in that ridge.
AWESOME! - if this gets out of release candidates in the near future, they'll recieve a nice bonus from me
Awesome but...2.6.32 kernel?I thought Gingerbread used like 2.6.35 or something...

I'm pretty sure it does too. I suppose you could easily edit the build.prop to show the Android version as 2.3.1
Yep you can definitely edit the build.prop to show this. Just look at my Android 3.0 DHD.

Likewise, but I find my electric razor's 'lil brush does wonders for removing the dust from nooks and crannys.

You could indeed, but when your a member of team cyanogen which kali is, and responsible for maintaining the desire and Desire HD builds would you? (original source http://twitter.com/#!/Kalozzo/status/16522866405154818)
That screenshot isn't from Kali.
Ok, I take it back, just done a little more digging.
Will this be available as an automatic system update or only as a custom ROM?
Closed as there is an existing thread with this topic on Dev area...

I had purchased it months ago when I got my Evo to save battery life but uninstalled it because the GUI was just horrible. I just downloaded it and the GUI has been made usable now. Oddly enough, JD is now able to control the CPU.
Has anyone given this a whirl?
the UI upgrade surprised me too. it takes a lot of poking around to get it really tuned in.

the old version was able to control the cpu as well
yes the new UI is great the maker just needs to fully support Gingerbread
I have been using it and recently did the update to the new one. I still use standard settings and it makes a difference on my phone. Think I am going to play with the settings to see what I can get.

I am a long-time fan, and I set it up with advanced settings. Helps a lot with battery life.

I didnt know the old one controlled CPU as well seeing as though I ditched it sometime in Nov.
Use JD in the past but I have good battery life anyway (using SetCPU profiles, this may help) so uninstalled it.
Just tried the new one. The new UI is nice but I can not get to any meaningful settings (e.g. the nice setting page in Biofall's posting), just choosing a preset configuration. Was the free version dumbed down?
I am using CM 6.1.2
Whats the first thing you are going to do with your Galaxy S III? Me? Ill be staring at the Super Amoled HD goodness for a couple hours. Having come from a Super LCD in the HTC Sensation 4G, Im very excited to see the screen in person. Also, Ill be test driving S-Voice lol
Thinking about this thread
Find out root, If I do post it in the Dev section.
Find CWM, If I do post it in the Dev section.
Start up my [REF] tonight and get it stickied.
Post a system dump of /system and upload it via FTP and post it.
Drag all my files from my gs2 to my gs3 (Titainum backups etc) and then look for root, and then (if found) restore my backups lol, then actually use it lol
Charge it to 100 before turning it on : )

get insurance on the B. after seeing those drop videos, now i'm hella worried it won't be indestructable as my HD2.
install a Martin Fields screen protector
put it in a soft rubbery silicone case for shock absorbing drops
and of course charge it to 100% before actually using the phone
first thing I just did put on Swype beta

^lol, but seriously 700 posts and still dont know whats doin.
If you have ask, then I'd say no. A rom is not worth it. If you do your homework instead, then you would already know the answer!
It's like saying do you need to modify a car, probably not. Taste for me has no limit

first i know its wrong section and this will be likely closed rather than moved but anyway.
installing a rom is you choice, i dont have the s5, but if i had i would do so, dude on this soc, this thing lags while scrolling lists and changing homescreens (wtf?) and animations are normally choppy (i used one for about a week). also i dont like touchwiz ui, for me, touchwiz only in note series.(but i would keep in mind a custom stock, since some features are usefull, and the camera app is really good)
If going custom wasn't really worth it, we wouldn't have had XDA. This places exists for the sole reason that someone somewhere thought that his device could do that extra mile, just with a little tweaking. We would have never reached 5.6 million members here if people did not agree to that sentiment.
However, to each their own. If you are happy with your current setup, there is nothing wrong with that. Stay stock or stay custom, the choice remains yours.
